It's no secret that dogecoin is trending and had quite an eventful day. But I'm sure many are feeling discouraged about the fact that DOGE is hovering around .03 right now. You may have also heard that it's only because Robinhood isn't giving anybody an advance option for purchasing crypto. They are right.
I'm a complete noob that barely uses reddit. I discovered the dogecoin rally through Facebook memes and mainstream media. Like all noobs, my wife and I tried to get in on the action on robinhood, but to no avail. It will be at least 5 days before our funds are available to invest. But I didn't give up. It took me literally all day to get my hands on dogecoin, because I have no clue what I'm doing. There are probably tens of thousands of people like me out there, but they didn't have the tenacity to figure out how to get dogecoin through binance, so they just gave up. I almost gave up myself.
Reddit: HOLD THAT LINE. Keep the memes coming, don't let the hype die before the robinhood noobs can join in. If dogecoin doesn't perform over the weekend, the momentum will be lost and so will the "casual observers" like me. Thousands are itching to join in, don't give them a reason to bail. Get your boomer parents involved, campaign on other platforms, do whatever it takes. The media around GME is legitimizing our effort.
Noobs: running into problems? Things confusing? Authentication too difficult? This what I learned after toiling all day:
- Get cash app.
- Enable deposit-withdrawal feature on your bitcoin wallet in cash app by taking a picture of your license. (This authentication took me 5 minutes or less.)
- Get a Binance account.
- Set up "basic" verification so you can enable deposit-withdrawal for crypto. (The verification process to enable deposit-withdrawal for your actual money takes way too long, that's why you're using cash app as a way to get funds to your binance account via bitcoin.)
- However much you want to invest, buy that much in bitcoin on cash app.
- Now transfer bitcoin to binance wallet by selecting "send bitcoin" on cash app. You'll have to enter a very long address for your binance bitcoin wallet. You'll find it under wallet->deposit->BTC. (You'll want to do this quick because as the btc market fluctuates you might lose some cash while you're in the bitcoin phase. My transfer took about 15 min to go through).
- Now it's time to buy dogecoin with your bitcoin. If you can figure out how to "convert" btc->doge, do that! It's probably the fastest way. I couldn't for the life of me figure that out. SO. Sell your bitcoin and fill up you USD wallet, then buy dogecoin with USD.
CAUTION. When you make your trades on binance, be aware that the default order type is a "limit" order. This means the transaction will only execute if the market is high enough for your sale price, or low enough for your purchase price. I tried to sell off my bitcoin while the value was falling, and it never got back up to that point. I was freaking out because all my wallets were empty for hours and I didn't know why. The solution is to change it to a "market" order and then the transaction was pretty much instantaneous.
So everybody like this post to spread awareness about the prevalence of normie involvement. This will help people like me to get dogecoin in order to keep the value level while we wait for robinhood investors to come along.
