half way through the new season what are everyones thoughts on it?

I am kinda mixed on hulu’s revival, for me I enjoyed the ending where Leela and fry got old and were the only ones left, but let's be honest, the last couple of episodes on hulu or the first returning ones in 2023, haven't been the cream of the crop as far as quality goes. I hate to say it, but I'm beginning to see why the people upstairs at Fox might want to cancel our beloved Futurama. These last episodes haven't really continually brought up past material (the holophoner, nibbler and the brains, and of course Leela and Fry's relationship, meeting leela’s parents, many of these in early futurama were enjoyable). although i think its interesting seeing more of fry's backstory in quids game.

It's not all bad tho even tho the Fyre Festival jokes were done to death around the time that the event actually happened.

So it hurts to see it happening, but it seems the writers are running out of juice by resurrecting rather stale subjects from old episodes (and even going as far as to alter the first episode). Just like the Simpsons.. it's like watching a train wreck and not being able to do anything about it. Anyone feel the same way? although i wish they parodied Elon or space X since its in the future.

Futurama Had a Weak First Season on Hulu, the Fulu joke was fun tho similar to box network aka fox. I thought the explovid episode, wasn’t good just making fun of covid not many lines or quotes were memorable to me.

The dune parody with dung beetles and worms was ok. Don’t really have a lot of fun memorable bender lines in this new season tho.

When it comes to a series like Futurama--a show that's been around off and on for 25 years--the newest stuff is always going to be the least popular. You got to give that stuff some time for viewers to figure out if they actually love or hate it. I remember enjoying the Comedy Central era, but wished they did more films.

The jokes feeling more dated than topical poking fun of 2020 and covid. While the revival went into development during the COVID-19 pandemic was fresh on everyone's mind, and Bitcoin was a major talking point, by the time the episodes aired, it felt like old news. Now, Futurama's targets can be a bit more topical, ones that fit the relative cultural moment. Hulu's revival struggles with outdated storylines something older seasons were better at.

It at times feel like the jokes and the dialogue are dumbed down, or just the way the voices are. Idk something is off about it but I don’t know what it is…. Something felt off. The newest episode with Leela and the chat robot friend felt like it was tackling chat gbt and ai. most of these topics happened 4 years ago and it hasn't really had more nixen moments or politics explained. the zapp gets cancelled one felt again..... making fun of cancel culture didn't hit it for me. idk i hope they do more fun stories or recall past season characters like the owls or scruffy or the sons of mom or clamps.

Even tho the latest episode was closer to classic Futurama than the others so far this season. you can tell the actors are enjoying the voice work maurice as morbo & hedonism bot or bender and the others etc.

I wish they would go for a more story centric arc like the films did where fry was part of the Legion of Mad Fellows, or at least made references to story of past seasons.

My favorite episode is the spanish beetle race with bender as of now but newer ones haven't made me laugh as much as old futurama.

Thats not to say I hate the current season it just needs more bang for its buck, also fry sounds older…. But they did lower his vocals so its better in newer episodes. what do we think?

thoughts?
