I (22M) have first found out about the Chinese man on the Boston subreddit asking for advice on whether to move from Worcester to Holden in October 2022, and even though many people advised him to reconsider Holden, he still moved there anyways. Even though I was in a much better upbringing than the 12 year old son, getting to attend an elite private school and having graduated from MIT last year, I was sorta in a similar situation with him because I was estranged from both my siblings (22F, 33F) about 4 years ago. Also, my mother's American family also has a love for predominantly white towns and they also have a disdain for prestigious education as well, with me being the only member of that entire side (American and Vietnamese) to have attended an elite university. However, a lot of members in my father's side went to elite universities and my father himself (73M) studied in Moscow State and was trained in Europe before becoming a doctor in Vietnam. Due to the fact I saw that the son was extraordinarily gifted just by reading the father's large wall of text, I decided to actually mentor my son (I do have money to survive (from my mobile app earnings + stocks/crypto), hence I didn't need a job and could afford to have a 2 year mental break after graduation due to mental health issues). I read many of these posts before they were deleted due to the user being shadowbanned, and the man did give out misinformation due to him wanting to appear humble and wanting to trick you guys that he can't afford a house in Boston or New York even though he is more than able to.

1. Even though this man could appear like a New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts hater, in fact, he actually owns multiple rental properties down there and many more in Massachusetts (where he used to live). He does have a lot of friends living in NYC, frequently visits there, either with his son or alone, and does think New Jersey is amongst the best states to live, but chooses to exaggerate his disdain on NY and NJ due to his disdain of living in the city, amongst other causes, to further intimidate his son. He does go with exaggerations, claiming New Jersey/New York, etc. has the most poverty, crime, homeless, etc, basically to further annoy his son, who loves these places as it provides good opportunities.
2. He did have 'good' experiences down in Texas back in 2003-2005, but he knew that Texas does have its downfalls, and only brags about the 'myth of the power outage' to brainwash his son into moving to Texas to live with him. He does however, like Texas for a number of reasons, including the fact he could buy a big McMansion for 'cheap' (be careful of the property taxes; however, according to his mindset, he would rather pay high property taxes than any income taxes), no income tax, warm weather all year round (he did come up with an argument that he could avoid 40 degree temps by going out at night or early morning during summer), wider roads (he does think adding more lanes is better), and most importantly, from what he has heard, more and more people are moving down to Texas every year, from other states.
3. He does lie about his income. In fact, he makes much more than 300k per year (in fact, he makes millions). From what I heard from his uncle and aunt over in Quincy and his wife, he basically quit his job as a Director of Engineering at a biotech company in 2021 due to him making so much money as a real estate investor. Even though he claimed that he got promoted from manager to director in 2023, he was actually promoted to Director of Engineering in 2016. He was originally an engineer in 2005 before jumping to senior engineer in 2008, then to middle management in 2012, then director of engineering.
4. He owns around 75 rental properties, with around 15 multi-family units in just Boston alone (several in Allston-Brighton, Jamaica Plain, Dorchester, South Boston, East Boston), 5 more in Cambridge, Somerville, and Brookline, 15 more inside the 128 ring (one in each: Newton, Arlington, Belmont, Watertown, Medford, Quincy, Waltham, Melrose, Malden, Revere, Chelsea, Everett, Woburn and two in Lynn), 5 more in Eastern Massachusetts outside of the 128 ring (one in each: Lowell, Fall River, New Bedford, Brockton, Framingham), about 5 in Worcester alone, 5 in Providence, 5 in New Haven, 5 in Queens and Brooklyn, 5 in Northern New Jersey (2 in Newark, 2 in Jersey City, 1 in North Bergen), 5 in the Philadelphia region, and about 5 in Houston (his old Pearland house, 2 multi family units in Houston, and 2 more in Dallas). According to his uncle, aunt, parents, parents-in-law and wife, he makes on average 20-40k in positive cash flow on EACH property per year, and for his positive cash flow, he uses it for another 5-10% down payment. He hires about 2 managers to overlook on the various houses outside New England (one in Texas, the other in New York/New Jersey/New Haven). He also has an immense crypto and stock portfolio and he is an early adopter of bitcoin having first invested in Bitcoin since 2014. The first house he ever owned was in Worcester and he bought a three decker there in 2001 at the age of 20; he used his part-time and college work-on-campus earnings as well as pooled in with several classmates to buy the house. According to his relatives, he charges his tenants at market rate and basically would raise the rent to market rate, essentially making tenants displaced if they can't keep up with rent; in Boston, he mostly targets college students and yuppies.
5. He might claim he switched from a humble 2010 Honda Accord and 2012 Honda Civic but these are TOTAL lies. According to his relatives and even family photos, his previous car before the 2023 Tesla Model Y and 2024 BMW X5 (he switched his wife from a 2023 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD to an X5 even though his wife was totally fine with the CR-V and isn't into cars) was the 2018 Mercedes Benz E450 4MATIC and 2017 Honda Civic EX (for his wife). Before that, he owned a 2012 BMW 335i xDrive and his wife owned the 2012 Honda Civic he claims that she owned up to 2023. Even though the man did buy a 2000 Toyota Camry CE, by 2006, he switched to a 2006 Lexus IS 350 and once he moved back to Worcester in 2005, he bought a 1500 sqft single house in Worcester for he and his future wife at the peak of the housing market. His wife told me that he only buys new cars and switches every 5 years to flex to his relatives and neighbours; even though his wife was totally fine with the old car, he basically switched his wife to the new car nonetheless. He also upgrades to the latest and greatest iPhone every year (currently owns an iPhone 14 Pro Max and a Galaxy Z Fold 5), owns several computers, and has a lot of tech gadgets at his home and even though his son is into technology, he only gives his son an iPhone SE 3 without a SIM card and a MacBook Air M2 rather than an iPhone 13/14 even though he has the money.
6. Even though he could afford a big house (>3000 sqft) in places like Belmont, Newton, Lexington, Winchester, Weston, Wellesley, etc, he didn't want to put a down payment and deal with monthly payments + interest rates, and instead, he wanted to pay the house entirely using cash and only pay the property tax, so he ended up going with Holden, Paxton, Sterling, etc. He used to live in a 2500 sqft much more humble house in Shrewsbury but for some reason, fell out of favor with Shrewsbury and decided to 'downgrade' to Holden after hearing from a coworker that Holden is comparable to Shrewsbury but much more affordable (think 850k for a 3500 sqft house vs 1 million), and according to the man, Holden is more rural, meaning it is more peaceful (at least in his opinions). He bought the previous house in Holden and his current house in Sugarland all with CASH.
7. According to his older sister, parents, and relatives, even though he claims to have only paid 15k and in some earlier posts, he claimed that he didn't help pay his niece's high school tuition, he essentially paid about half of her 60k tuition (her mother paid the other half) and he even gave the niece (14F) a free floor in Cambridge (which meant essentially 1200 sqft to herself). Despite the fact the son is academically talented and has been whining about going to the same private school in Boston, the father essentially written the son off due to the fact he doesn't behave well at home, having temper tantrums as a pre-teen and behaving 'oddly' as a 5-8 year old due to his autism. The son's autism essentially ruined the father's perception of the son despite his talents and therefore, the father thought it is not worthy to send him to other relatives and that since he claims to be the most understandable about autism, he wanted to raise the son due to him 'missing' his son and wanting to be close to him. According to the son, he has temper tantrums due to the fact family mistreated him and his parents were essentially extremely controlling of him, which made him hate them. Also, even though the father is socially liberal and doesn't believe in corporal punishment, he nonetheless still participated in fighting his son and wife due to the fact his anger usually gets out of control with his son's behaviour and he has had bad anger issues due to stress. According to his wife, despite not being diagnosed with ASD or NPD, he does have some autistic as well as narcissistic tendencies.
8. Despite visiting Europe every year with his wife, some for business travel, and some for personal travel and having been on several business conference trips each year, and visiting Asia every year with him visiting China once every 2-3 years (hasn't visited since COVID), he has never taken his son abroad except for the ONE TRIP to China in 2019 to visit relatives. During his business trips, he would mostly fly on business class whilst during leisure trips, he would go economy and would sleep at decent 3-4 star hotels on his trip because despite the fact he does like to flex and does care about his status and appearance, he is also quite frugal in many instances as well.
9. His son did not know of the niece's older sister (23F) until several months ago. In fact, despite the fact the older sister went to my school, was my classmate in the same grade as me, and lived in Boston between 2014 and 2018 before attending the University of Maryland Baltimore County, the father essentially prevented the son from knowing of his older cousin until the father's uncle and aunt told the son about the existence of his older cousin. Even though I was the high school valedictorian, the 23F niece classmate of mine landed around top 15-20, and chose Baltimore City Community College for the first year before transferring to UMD Baltimore County due to her hearing that Baltimore does have good healthcare and she wanted to be a doctor. The man ended up buying a house for her in a suburb of Baltimore and the son's father bought her a brand new 2019 BMW 330i xDrive once she entered college. Essentially, the Chinese dad adopted two of his sister's children without legally adopting them. In fact, sometimes, I do see the father at school events and even though he claims to drive an Accord just for the sake of being humble, in fact, iirc, he was rocking a Mercedes when I was there.

He might make posts trolling on Reddit like "Boston and Cambridge sucks", "New York sucks", "Texas is good", "Harvard/MIT sucks", "MCPHS (where his wife went) is good", etc, just to further intimidate and brainwash his son. Even though he does seem like a right wing MAGA bot, in fact, he is more of a libertarian and he just makes these posts to further upset his son and to brainwash his son into moving to Texas to live with him despite having a lot of misery in Holden. His son does have similar attributes to me such as his insane love for learning, him being academically gifted, autistic (I was never tested for autism but do have mild autistic tendencies), his interest in technology (phones, computers, tech gadgets), EVs, and ICE cars, and classical music being his favourite music genre due to him being exposed to classical music and knowing how to play the piano (despite me not knowing violin, I heard he does have talent in violin as well). After the fact his son 'made him fed up', the father has since started becoming mentally insane on the internet, and that is why you see some weird posts. He will eventually either get shadowbanned or permabanned with the many accounts he has.
