Mt. Gox event happened over 7 years ago and devastated the crypto industry but where would the industry be if it hadn’t occurred?

Mt.Gox launched in July 2010, by 2013 and into 2014 it was handling over 70% of all bitcoin (BTC) transactions worldwide, as the largest bitcoin intermediary and the world's leading bitcoin exchange.

Over 850,000 Bitcoins were stolen ($47 Billion US dollars at today’s value) in 2014. It crippled a budding industry and hurt the reputation of crypto as a whole for a substantial time.

Where would crypto be if this event hadn’t never occurred? How far did this set the crypto industry back?

I remember learning about it back in 2015 and it definitely prevented me from get in for a few years.

Cool Candles and the history of Bitcoin

Cool Candles is a long-term project that integrates crypto history into crypto itself. I am fascinated by the history of crypto, and after giving it some thought on how I can capture and share it in a very exciting way, Cool Candles was born.

Cool Candles is the first collection of a series that brings crypto history into NFTs. Each candle represents a day from the Bitcoin History in 2010. Each NFT contains the day, price, rank(volatility), events, and some other cool information. The collection is live on Opensea ETH 😱, yes an NFT collection of BTC on ETH, isn't it beautiful?

The image above is one of the Satoshi Coding candles and represents the release of BTC 0.3.2 on 7/17/2010 by Satoshi Nakamoto along with the release message. We have assigned each NFT different classes(characters) to make the collection more unique. Each NFT can be obtained for 0.1 ETH. We have kept 14 non-rare NFTs for future community events.

We are starting with Bitcoin but we are not stopping there. We plan on releasing a collection for each BTC year. Each collection should be separated to allow some time in between for growth. 2010 is a historical event itself, and many more events happen during the first half and before 2010. We are in no rush to catching up to 2021 because this will allow more accurate price action and historical events.

We are aware of other platforms and some of the benefits they offer, but right now Etherium seems to be the way to go for a long-term project since the other platforms still need time to grow, then run into some problems, and see how those problems are handled. Knowing how fast the crypto development moves, it's just a matter of time before a few bridges show up.

We have prioritized the properties of the NFTs for the daily information and events and kept the visual properties at a minimum. Some of the properties for the 2010 NFT collection were created with the intention of using them in-game. We are not planning on making a game on the blockchain as of now but we will use it for verification purposes (e.g: web game access and in-game content).​

Out of all the collections, this will be the smallest and simplest design. Each NFT collection should look better than the one before. Historical events will be distributed in different collections.

​This is a long-term project. We need time to grow regardless of the state of the market. The market is very saturated and if you are reading this you are probably in the very early stages of the project. After I finish writing this article I will start writing the document for the first exclusive game for our community. Today is 10/19/2021 and nobody has bought or even followed our project. Massive Liquidations, both LONGS and SHORTS (Are they here to stay forever???)

Hello all! Hope you are doing well! I was just thinking about this the other day and since I'm fairly new to the game I thought I would ask the question. Over the past half year I've seen massive liquidations, both LONGS and SHORTS and I just had a couple of questions. These types of millions/billions of dollars of liquidations happen when people are using huge leverage multipliers, which some exchanges allow traders to place. They are triggered by a buildup of trades which causes a huge chain reaction. My question is this, will this type of activity which can cause massive price swings for bitcoin (5-20% increases or decreases) be around forever? Or, will they start to decrease when the price of bitcoin goes higher. Lets say theoretically bitcoin reaches the gold market cap of 10 Trillion and is 500k per coin. Will traders be less hesitant to place huge leverages on their trades?

I am completely fascinated by this topic as it seems to be a huge reason why many people are very hesitant to want to get into bitcoin in the first place. There is a lot of volatility in bitcoin as it is, but these types of swings, which no one can predict when they occur just seem to put a lot of people off to the concept of owning bitcoin. It almost seems like these events happen every month, almost multiple times in some cases.

I know I'm not the first and will not be the last person to have thought about this, but will the price of bitcoin ever be so high that these types of liquidations do not occur on this scale any more?

Bitcoin reached 100k on March 2023 20:44 HK. Many celebration around the neighbourhood and the Government from around the world is in panic right now as they are unable to roll out Bitcoin fast enough.

I am from the future and this mark the historic event of bitcoin hitting 100k.

I hope this message was able to route to the past as this is my 69 times sending it out. Whoever is seeing this now, keep accumulating them as it is a new currency.

Do not FOMO into it and always DCA in every single week/month to reduce volatility. There is going to be many mini crashes along the way.

What do you want to know from someone who is in Crypt since 2014 sold his first Bitcoin for 100LTC gave away all of them on 4chan.

rebought and then traded back a taxfree multi-million fortune for my family, friends, myself and now sitting in an independent digital fiat-currency board for the bank I used to handle all of this.
The Bank in question is Raiffeisen International and there offensive strategy to work on digital Fiat.

Every crypto trade that is held for longer then one year is accounted as tax-free. The challenge was to open altcoin positions that almost guaranteed a multiple x performance in sats / Bitcoin, followed by one after the other, year over year, if the Fiat value of the underlying increased. If not, like during the Bear market, trades within months / weeks where possible.

All off this ended in August this year with a almost x10.000 multiplier in Bitcoins compared to the starting point. The only reason why the next x multiplier ( what will push the overall return to >x20k ) will not happen, is that you find yourself broken fully exhausted and not even realizing what happened. You just did something you liked and understand and it surly sounds ironical but you never touch or got a feeling of what you are even doing, my excuse always was that I play with Monopoly Money living within my own bubble that exploded at some point.

The only way I realized it was a trigger event that happened once again, the same thing that kicked me out of Future Margin Trading at an age of 19, starting with 14 where I built up my connections to the financial sector. Back then I started with 10grand that I won via a virtual fiat stock game that became a multi million private Family Fund years later.

During all of this I graduated in software engineering with a specialization in Industrial Automation because its a hobby and since then I am almost directly responsible for up to hundred thousand people around the globe that lost there jobs because of this software.

Whatever one my choose to call it, its awful from a general perspective .
