Description

In this afterwork seminar on Bitcoin we will give an overview of the past, present, and future of Bitcoin. We will look at technology behind Bitcoin; its history and inner workings, its potential to disrupt industries and its future perspectives, including a discussion of the speaker's direct experience with innovative startups and financial incumbents on the field. We will wrap up the seminar with some afterwork mingling.

The structure of the talk:

• Introduction and background of speaker
• The history of Bitcoin and what happened before (attempts at - and importance of - sound money and private money)
• The technology behind Bitcoin - how does it work?
• Why, and how, is Bitcoin disruptive?
• Discussion of our direct experience with innovative startups and financial incumbents
• Future perspectives - imminent future, and in the long run?
• Final thoughts (and why I want bitcoin in the future of my child)
• Afterwork

About the speaker:

Italian Mir Liponi (https://twitter.com/mir_btc) has been a tech enthusiast since she was a child. She discovered Bitcoin around 2012 and soon understood its disruptive potential, becoming a Bitcoin supporter while she was finishing her Phd. Since 2016 she has worked with BHB Network (https://twitter.com/bhbnetwork), a research and development center for blockchain technology based in Italy. At BHB she helps connect international Bitcoin experts and promising startups. For the last 3 years she has organized the monthly Bitcoin Milan Meetup, one of the largest such events in Europe. Since 2018 she is also the CEO of Satoshi Design, a startup focused on communication, design, marketing and creative strategies for Bitcoin companies.
