Over text, a pimp of some escort agency is threatening to kill me and my family if I don't pay $750.
The Background (not too important, but all of this happened on text)
A few weeks ago, I (regretfully, extremely regret even thinking of hooking up with an escort) contacted an escort that I found on a website through text on my phone (stupid of me to not use a fake number). She sent me a picture of her and her price, which was too much so I didn’t respond. After an hour, she was still texting me and I said the price was too high. I told her I only had $120 to spend and she strangely accepted it (her initial offering was $350 per hour). I asked if I could pay in cash but she said she only does bitcoin for first clients and that I could pay in cash later. I told her I didn’t have a bitcoin wallet and she then said that there were bitcoin exchanges near me. I gave her a fake location a few minutes away from me in another campus hall (I’m in a college town) and she told me the location of this store with a bitcoin exchange. While I was walking to that store, she sent me nude photos.
Somewhere on the line, I asked her if half the money could be paid in cash and half in bitcoin and she accepted.
So I went, I was a bit confused on how to pay. She offered to give me instructions but I told her it was difficult because I barely had a data connection for her to guide me through it inside that building. Eventually, after walking inside and out a bunch of times to confirm the exchange through my phone and receive more instructions from her, I became frustrated and asked why she couldn’t drive there and have me pay her in cash. She gave some weird explanation about the agency requiring the bitcoin transaction as a confirmation or something. I kept telling her I couldn’t but she seemed desperate that I did, so I guess I kind of tries. But I got sick of walking in and outside of the store for a phone data connection so I gave up and told her I couldn’t (I also kind of felt religiously guilty about doing it). I left and the store owner asked if I was going to return, I told him no and he then closed it (she didn’t believe me when I told her the store was closed).
She then began threatening me to expose me or whatever for wasting her time, and she claimed that the agency lost money or something. I still refused. She made me a deal to do it tomorrow and I still refused (felt really guilty religiously about contacting an escort). I asked her where I was going to be reported/exposed or whatever and she said “you’ll see.”
The whole thing did seem a bit shady and she did seem *very* desperate that I pay her in bitcoin.
On to the threat (important part)
So a week or so later, some guy contacted me about me “wasting time” or whatever. I deleted the message and blocked the number.
Come today, a new number contacted me. It began with like 12 gorey images of people being brutally beaten up and killed in one way or another. The accompanying message was “Hey sr.” two times and this (paraphrased and shortened):
“We are communicating directly from the escort agency. We have evidence you were talking to one of my girls, and I have evidence. While she was talking to you, she stopped talking to several clients who had separate appointments. Those clients canceled the appointments because of the mistake you made in my agency’s system to waste time. The agency lost $4000, but I won’t charge you that much. You have to pay a fine of $750. If you do not solve this problem I will tear your head and your relatives. This happens with everybody that plays us and wastes our time with my agency and my girls. Solve this or not?” (He had horrible English for one)
I was extremely scared, I deleted all gorey images but one, screenshotted the message and buried it somewhere in my phone’s files from plain sight.
Sorry about my bad grammar, I wrote this all in a rush because I'm a bit terrified here.
TL;DR: I contacted an escort, had trouble paying her and felt guilty so I withdrew, she called me a time waster. A few weeks later I got a threat from some other number (her pimp??) asking me to pay $750 or he’ll behead me and my family.
What do I do?? Is this a scam I can ignore??? Should I contact the police, will I get in any trouble for contacting an escort? I’m pretty sure they are illegal here in Wisconsin...
