WHAT IS THE BLOCKCHAIN?

https://preview.redd.it/7gsvurtj1wp61.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=2b5ee2eea1d1822105d4a512a7eee997000c50bc

What it is, how it works and how it is being used in the market.

The blockchain is generally associated with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but these are only the tip of the iceberg. And it is that this technology, which has its origins in 1991, when Stuart Haber and W. Scott Stornetta described the first work on a chain of cryptographically secured blocks, was not noticeable until 2008, when it became popular with the arrival of bitcoin.

When we speak of blockchains or chains of blocks, we refer to a particular way of organizing information, usually in a database format, with the distinctive characteristic that the data contained in a blockchain are arranged in successive blocks, each connected to the previous.

Each block can hold a certain amount of information and is identified by an alphanumeric figure generated by a hash function. Hash functions are a type of cryptographic algorithm that creates a specific alphanumeric identifier for that piece of information. Bitcoin, for example, uses the SHA256 algorithm, while Ethereum uses Ethash.

In case the information of a block is altered, even in the slightest, the identifier will also be modified. In this way, the hash number allows to know if a certain set of information underwent any change or manipulation.

The chain of blocks, better known by the term blockchain in English, is a single registry, agreed and distributed in several nodes of a network. In the case of cryptocurrencies, we can think of it as the ledger where each of the transactions is recorded.

In a blockchain, each “child block” contains the hash of the previous block, which we can call its “mother block”. This mother block is also a child of another block, and thus a chain is generated that refers to the first block, also called the “genesis block”, which is the only one that does not contain hash of previous blocks.

Each block added in the chain was processed, accepted, and incorporated by the entire network in a process known as mining. Therefore, any change in a mother block generates a cascade effect that is transmitted to all subsequent blocks and that forces whoever wants to modify a pre-existing block to validate (mine) the entire chain again.

This means that the longer a chain of blocks is, the more computing power is required to mine it again. Therefore, it is more difficult to change. In short, the longer a blockchain is, the more difficult it is to rewrite it.

Its operation can be complex to understand if we delve into the internal details of its implementation, but the basic idea is simple to follow.

Why is blockchain so secure?

Being a distributed technology, where each node of the network stores an exact copy of the chain, the availability of the information is guaranteed at all times. In the event that an attacker wanted to cause a denial of service, they should kill all nodes on the network, since at least one of them is sufficient for the information to be available.

On the other hand, being a consensual registry, where all the nodes contain the same information, it is almost impossible to alter it, ensuring its integrity. If an attacker wanted to modify the information on the blockchain, he should modify the entire chain in at least 51% of the nodes.

Blockchain technology allows us to store information that can never be lost, modified or deleted.

Finally, since each block is mathematically linked to the next block, once a new one is added to the chain, it becomes unalterable. If a block is modified its relationship with the chain is broken. In other words, all the information registered in the blocks is immutable and perpetual.

In this way, blockchain technology allows us to store information that can never be lost, modified or deleted.

What’s in DHM’s New UI?

https://preview.redd.it/9w4v45n1pvp61.png?width=414&format=png&auto=webp&s=edf9c5c138998a5839c3d2c0169c21d69c4e41f6

DHM has revamped the UI. The new UI includes the four core sections that could affect miner’s revenue.

Bitcoin Price: We see from the chart that the Bitcoin rally continues as uncertainty surrounding the stock and debt bubble remain high. News broke out on Mar. 23rd that Turkish Lira plunged after the head of the Turkish central bank was fired by Erdogan, which resulted in Bitcoin pricing at $100K in that region. This event serves as a reminder that currencies are fragile to national/international politics, and Bitcoin is an asset beyond the border and geopolitical conflicts. Its function as the safe haven shows up at times like this.

Graph from currency.com

Bitcoin Mining Revenue: the miners’ revenue has broken record high in January this year, and again in February.

Check the previous report:

Bitcoin Miners Made Record-High Revenue in January 2021

Bitcoin Miners Made Record-High Revenue in January 2021

Bitcoin Hashrate: the increasing hashrate suggests that there are more machines getting into Bitcoin mining, and the network difficulty is increasing. This mechanism auto regulates supply and demand.

Bitcoin Flow: in the 30-day asset flow, we can see where the new Bitcoins are generated, from the miner’s rewards, and flow to the exchange or wallet. It shows the dynamic visually of how much Bitcoin is in circulation, from who, as opposed to how much is in the wallet.

Nigerian Scam: An Overview

Nigerian scams involve someone from another country offering you a share of a large amount of money or a bribe in return for your assistance in transferring money out of Nigeria or in other words money transfer. These scams began in Nigeria and have since spread throughout the world.

· How does this con work?

The scammer will contact you by email, letter, text message, or social media out of the blue.

The con artist will tell you a long story about huge sums of money being frozen in banks during civil wars or coups, sometimes in countries that are currently in the news and will ask for money transfer services.Alternatively, they may inform you about a large inheritance that is 'difficult to reach' in their country due to government restrictions or taxes. The con artist will then give you a large sum of money in exchange for your assistance in moving their personal wealth out of the country through money transfer app. Since the first wave of these scams emerged in Nigeria, they are generally referred to as "Nigerian 419" scams but are a simple case of money transfer online. The '419' in the name refers to a section of the Nigerian Criminal Code that prohibits the activity. Scams today originate from all over the world as most people wonder money transfer near me. Scammers can ask for your bank account information in order to 'assist them in transferring the money,' through money transfer sites and then use that information to steal your funds later. Alternatively, they may ask you to pay fees, charges, or taxes to 'assist in the release or transfer of funds out of the country' through your bank. These fees could start out as small as a few dollars or send money online. If you pay the scammer, he or she will create new fees that you must pay before receiving your reward using money transfer services online. They will continue to demand more money as long as you are able to give it to them through money transfer companies. You will never receive the funds pledged to you.

· Signs to be aware of

You get a contact unexpectedly requesting that you 'help' somebody from another nation move cash out of their nation (for example Nigeria, Sierra Leone or Iraq) and send money through international money transfer if you know how to transfer money from one bank to another. The solicitation incorporates a long and frequently tragic anecdote concerning why the cash can't be moved by the proprietor. This regularly includes some sort of contention or legacy and they might need to move the cash straight into your record using best way to transfer money internationally. You are offered a monetary prize, like an offer in the sum, for assisting them with getting to their 'caught' reserves. The measure of cash to be moved, and the installment that the con artist vows to you in the event that you help, is generally extremely huge transferwise. They will guarantee that a bank, attorney, government office or other association requires a few expenses to be paid before the cash can be moved. The trickster will frequently request that you make installments for the charge through a cash move administration.

· Take precautions.

Never send money to someone you don't know or trust, or give them your credit card numbers, online account information, or copies of personal documents. Avoid any transaction with a stranger that requires payment in advance via money order, wire transfer, international funds transfer, pre-loaded card, or electronic currency such as Bitcoin if you know how to send money internationally using international money transfer app. Money sent this way is highly difficult to recover. Do not consent to move money on behalf of another person. Money laundering is a serious crime. If you're unsure, seek independent guidance from someone you know and trust. Verify the identity of the contact by calling the appropriate company directly – identify them via an independent source such as a phone book or an online search if they appear to be from a specific organization. Do not contact the sender using the information contained in the letter.

Check the internet for any references to a scam using the names, contact numbers, or exact wording of the letter/email – many scams can be detected this way. If you believe it's a scam, don't respond; scammers can use a personal touch to manipulate your emotions. There are no get-rich-quick schemes, so if anything sounds too good to be true, it actually is.

BCHA wallet - Official wallet for Bitcoin ABC. Split your BCH and BCHA coins

The Bitcoin Cash blockchain went through a planned update yet additionally the cutting tool an agreement split, and the organization divided into two. After the split, various clients have been searching for strategies to split their coins to store them independently or sell the undesirable tokens on a trade. Coming up next is a bit by bit manage on the best way to split forked tokens by utilizing a couple of various instruments.

Splitting Coins from the Bitcoin Cash Network Fork Using Electron Cash Version 4.2.0

In mid-November, very much like each year prior to, the Bitcoin Cash network redesigned to fix the trouble change calculation (DAA). In any case, very much like in 2018, there was a significant conflict, as the full hub customer Bitcoin ABC chose to carry out the framework subsidizing plan (IFP) into the hub's codebase. Since this choice didn't adjust well to the local area and mining members, the ABC favorable to IFP chain forked away from Bitcoin Cash and turned into its own organization.

Coming up next is a manual for reestablishing a Bitpay wallet with bitcoin cash (BCH) assets and utilizing Electron Cash variant 4.2.0 to split coins. Continuously recollect that bit by bit walkthrough articles are planned for educational purposes as it were. There are different security dangers and techniqus and splitting aides and some of them are discretionary.

At the hour of distribution, the ABC favorable to IFP chain is as yet anonymous, and it is regularly alluded to as "BCHA" or "BAB." For consistency and clearness inside this guide, the ABC supportive of IFP chain will be alluded to as "BCHA." Following the fork and the new run of void squares from a puzzling digger, I chose to split my coins into two, so I can sell what I don't need in a week or thereabouts.

Individuals have posted a couple of various approaches to split coins and Hayden Otto, distributed a video on the best way to split tokens in a simple style by utilizing the Coinex trade. Look at his video underneath as the cycle is less difficult, however remember, Coinex is a custodial trade.

The strategy I followed, initially originated from the web-based interface however I chose to do it simply a hair in an unexpected way. Days before the fork, I moved bitcoin cash (BCH) from an equipment wallet over to a noncustodial Bitpay wallet. After the split, I downloaded a noncustodial Wallet and Electron Cash (EC) rendition 4.2.0 from the undertaking's Github storehouse.

The 4.2.0 adaptation of EC permits the client to switch between workers, which offers individuals the chance to split their coins. In the wake of starting up the 4.2.0 EC discharge, I chose to make another wallet called "Splitting Time." I utilized the 12-word seed state given to me when I made my Bitpay wallet to reestablish my BCH assets into the recently made "Splitting Time" wallet. In the event that you don't have to reestablish your wallet and you as of now influence the Electron Cash wallet rendition 4.2.0, at that point you can jump to the splitting segment of this article.

I essentially chose the "document" tab at the upper left half of the wallet and looked down to "new/reestablish." From here I named the new BCH wallet "Splitting Time" and chose "standard wallet." After squeezing "next," I at that point chosen "I as of now have a seed" and again squeezed "next" to proceed with the cycle. Presently various wallets have various ways to deal with inference ways, yet I knew that Bitpay use the BIP39 adaptation of mental aide seed phrases. In the wake of choosing "I as of now have a seed," the subsequent stage was to type the 12-word express into the container with spaces.

You ought to never do this cycle on the off chance that you are anxious about the possibility that that your PC has malware or if others are near. It is insightful to be totally alone while doing this interaction as the 12-word memory helper word list is fundamentally your private key, and it can give anybody admittance to the assets. Prior to composing the seed, realizing that my Bitpay wallet use BIP39, I chose the "choices" tab beneath the window to flip a BIP39 rebuilding measure.

Wallet proprietors can likewise follow this progression as the noncustodial customer additionally utilizes BIP39. The choices window permits you to choose "power BIP39 understanding of this seed and if the seed expression isn't right the checksum will say "fizzled." However, after I entered the seed expression effectively, the Electron Cash customer revealed to me the checksum was acceptable.

The Splitting Process by Leveraging Both Networks

Small business startup cost injected in Bitcoin

Hello

I’m starting a business and planning to cover the bootstrap cost with my Bitcoin - would appreciate a quick sanity check:

  1. Open a sole proprietor LLC - not a taxable event

  2. I am lending Bitcoin to the newly founded business. Loan terms are based on similar services (like 4.5% apy for 10 years) - not a taxable event

  3. Business sells borrowed Bitcoin to cover setup costs - Taxable event, cost basis is the rate at the time of the loan, not the rate I acquired Bitcoin in the past. For example: if business sells Bitcoin instantly after getting the loan, profit/loss is zero

  4. Business starts paying back the loan. Taxable event, interest profit on my side personally

Step 3 is the one I’m concerned about

Thank you so much

In the wake of choosing "I as of now have a seed," the subsequent stage was to type the 12-word express into the container with spaces.

You ought to never do this cycle on the off chance that you are anxious about the possibility that that your PC has malware or if others are near. It is insightful to be totally alone while doing this interaction as the 12-word memory helper word list is fundamentally your private key, and it can give anybody admittance to the assets. Prior to composing the seed, realizing that my Bitpay wallet use BIP39, I chose the "choices" tab beneath the window to flip a BIP39 rebuilding measure.

Since this choice didn't adjust well to the local area and mining members, the ABC favorable to IFP chain forked away from Bitcoin Cash and turned into its own organization.

Redditors Rise Up

Hello my brothers and sisters and everything in-between, it's time for us to rise up.

With Wallstreetbets we showed the world that us redditors can change the economy, the time has now come to use our power on our favorite coin.

What I'm trying to organize is a mass buying of DogeCoins in the same vein as the GameStop one because our beloved coin has been treated like a joke for far too long, the time has come for us to show those Bitcoin and Ethereum snobs a piece of our mind.

If we all unite in this event we can make our coin rise through the ranks of the crypto-currencies, at least in the top tens.

If you are with me and are interested please reply to this post.

CryptoCurrency Beginners Wiki

What is crypto?

Cryptocurrency is a digital payment system that doesn't rely on banks to verify transactions. It's a peer-to-peer system that can enable anyone anywhere to send and receive payments. Instead of being physical money that is carried around and exchanged in the real world, cryptocurrency payments exist purely as digital entries to an online database that describe specific transactions. When you transfer cryptocurrency funds, the transactions are recorded in a public ledger. You store your cryptocurrency in a digital wallet.

What is the Blockchain?

Cryptocurrencies work using a technology called blockchain. Blockchain is a decentralized technology spread across many computers that manages and records transactions. Part of the appeal of this technology is its security.

A blockchain is essentially a digital ledger of transactions that is duplicated and distributed across the entire network of computer systems on the blockchain. Each block in the chain contains a number of transactions, and every time a new transaction occurs on the blockchain, a record of that transaction is added to every participant’s ledger. The decentralised database managed by multiple participants is known as Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT).

How to trade Crypto

1. Make an account on a crypto exchange.

To choose the best exchange for your needs, it is important to fully understand the types of exchanges. There are two types of exchanges:

Centralized Exchange

The first and most common type of exchange is the centralized exchange. Popular exchanges that fall into this category are Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, and Gemini. These exchanges are private companies that offer platforms to trade cryptocurrency. These exchanges require registration and identification, also known as the Know Your Customer or Know Your Client(KYC) rule.

centralized exchanges are not in line with the philosophy of Bitcoin. They run on their own private servers which creates a vector of attack. If the servers of the company were to be compromised, the whole system could be shut down for some time. Worse, sensitive data about its users could be released.

The larger, more popular centralized exchanges are by far the easiest on-ramp for new users and they even provide some level of insurance should their systems fail. While this is true, when cryptocurrency is purchased on these exchanges it is stored within their custodial wallets and not in your own wallet that you own the keys to. The insurance that is provided is only applicable if the exchange is at fault. Should your computer and your Coinbase account, for example, become compromised, your funds would be lost and you would not likely have the ability to claim insurance. This is why it is important to withdraw any large sums and practice safe storage.

Decentralized Exchange

Decentralized exchanges work in the same manner that Bitcoin does. A decentralized exchange has no central point of control. Instead, think of it as a server, except that each computer within the server is spread out across the world and each computer that makes up one part of that server is controlled by an individual. If one of these computers turns off, it has no effect on the network as a whole because there are plenty of other computers that will continue running the network.

This is drastically different from one company controlling a server in a single location. Attacking something that is spread out and decentralized in this manner is significantly more difficult, making any such attacks unrealistic and likely unsuccessful.

Due to this decentralization, these types of exchanges cannot be subject to the rules of any regulatory body, as there is no specific person or group running the system. The individuals who participate come and go, so there is no one individual or group that a government or regulatory body can realistically pursue. This means that those trading on the platform do not have to declare their identification and are free to use the platform in any manner they choose, whether legal or not.

Best crypto exchanges as of 2021 (according to investopedia)

  • Best overall: Coinbase & Coinbase Pro
  • Best for Altcoins: Binance
  • Best for Decentralised Exchange: Bisq

2. Pick a crypto to invest in

How? Easy, one might say - just Do Your Own Research(DYOR), because no one here is a financial advisor!

Things to look at when researching:

  • The Community
  • Fundamental Analysis
  • The Team
  • The Technology
  • The White Paper
  • Their Vision
  • Their Leadership
  • Pricing History
  • Credibility & Reputation
  • Roadmap

3. Choose a strategy

A. Buy and hold(HODL)

“Buy and hold” is a passive investment strategy where traders buy an asset intending to hold it for a long time, regardless of market fluctuations.

This strategy is typically used in long-term investment portfolios, where the idea is simply to get in the market without any regard for timing. The idea behind this strategy is that on a long enough time frame, the timing or entry price won’t matter much.

B. Dollar Cost Averaging(DCA)

Dollar cost averaging is a popular and well-tested trading strategy that works best when done over longer periods of time. The concept is simple. Instead of investing all your money in a particular cryptocurrency at once you divide it into small amounts, choose a particular time and day of the week and only buy at those times.

DivineEu - What is DollarCostAveraging?

C. Day trading

Day trading might be the most well-known active trading strategy. It’s a common misconception to think that all active traders are by definition day traders, but that isn’t true.

Day trading involves entering and exiting positions on the same day. As such, day traders aim to capitalize on intraday price movements, i.e., price moves that happen within one trading day.

D. Swing trading

Swing trading is a type of longer-term trading strategy that involves holding positions for longer than a day but typically not longer than a few weeks or a month. In some ways, swing trading sits in the middle between day trading and trend trading.

Swing traders generally try to take advantage of waves of volatility that take several days or weeks to play out. Swing traders may use a combination of technical and fundamental factors to formulate their trade ideas. Naturally, fundamental changes may take a longer time to play out, and this is where fundamental analysis comes into play. Even so, chart patterns and technical indicators can also play a major part in a swing trading strategy.

E. Trend trading

Sometimes also referred to as position trading, trend trading is a strategy that involves holding positions for a longer period of time, typically at least a few months. As the name would suggest, trend traders try to take advantage of directional trends. Trend traders may enter a long position in an uptrend and a short position in a downtrend.

Trend traders will typically use fundamental analysis, but this may not always be the case. Even so, fundamental analysis considers events that may take a long time to play out – and these are the moves that trend traders try to take advantage of.

F. Scalping

Scalping is one of the quickest trading strategies out there. Scalpers don’t try to take advantage of big moves or drawn-out trends. It’s a strategy that focuses on exploiting small moves over and over again. For example, profiting off of bid-ask spreads, gaps in liquidity, or other inefficiencies in the market.

Scalpers don’t aim to hold their positions for a long time. It’s quite common to see scalp traders opening and closing positions in a matter of seconds. This is why scalping is often related to High-Frequency Trading (HFT).

G. YOLO

This one is self-explanatory.

4. Store your cryptocurrency

The main purpose of the creation of Bitcoin as a decentralized currency was to give the masses the power to control and manage their own money.

First off, digital wallets are quite different as compared to your physical wallet. Instead of storing money, digital wallets store private and public keys.

Private keys are like your PIN number to access your bank account, while public keys are similar to your bank account number. When you send Bitcoin, you’re sending VALUE in the form of a transaction, transferring the ownership of your coin to the recipient.

Ownership of your private keys gives you total control over the funds associated with your corresponding public keys. That’s why it is vital to make sure you keep your private keys secretly hidden so that ONLY YOU know your private keys.

If any other person gets hold of your private keys, they will have control over your coins. It is also equally important to have a back-up of your private keys, so as to protect yourself from accidental loss.

You'd also lose your funds if you cannot recover your lost private keys.

Who doesn't like airdrops? An airdrop, in the cryptocurrency business, is a marketing stunt that involves sending coins or tokens to wallet addresses in order to promote awareness of a new virtual currency. Small amounts of the new virtual currency are sent to the wallets of active members of the blockchain community for free or in return for a small service, such as retweeting a post sent by the company issuing the currency.

Faucets

A crypto faucet is an app or a website that distributes small amounts of cryptocurrencies as a reward for completing easy tasks. They’re given the name “faucets'' because the rewards are small, just like small drops of water dripping from a leaky faucet.

On-Chain Governance

On-chain governance is a system for managing and implementing changes to cryptocurrency blockchains. In this type of governance, rules for instituting changes are encoded into the blockchain protocol. Developers propose changes through code updates and each node votes on whether to accept or reject the proposed change.

Stakeholders in the process are provided economic incentives to participate. For example, each node can earn a cut of overall transaction fees for voting, while developers are rewarded through alternate funding mechanisms.

Buying and storing bitcoin while on a boat

I'm in the military. In a few months I will be deploying on a boat and will have pretty terrible internet access and most likely zero access to any exchanges for, let's just call it 12 months straight. I'd like to regularly purchase bitcoin and store it securely during that time. I've used coinbase and a ledger up to this point. I could set up automatic purchases on coinbase, but I'm not sure how to transfer them off of coinbase with no internet access. I don't really want to keep a years worth of purchases on an online exchange for that long. I am single and don't have anyone to trust with handling this.

On another note. I plan on putting all of my belongings into storage during my deployment. I am going to commit my seed to memory, but I would like to have a backup written down in the event of my passing, which is not entirely improbable. I'm not sure how I feel about my seed written down on paper or metal sitting in a storage facility for 12 months. I could put it in a safe? Open to ideas and suggestions.

Thanks!

MMT (Monero Monetary Theory)

Hi everyone,

This medium article explains better than I ever could the problems which could be posed by a deflationary currency to the economy which runs on it. Reading the books Theory of Money and Credit by Ludwig von Mises and Dying of Money by Jens Parsson has made it clear to me that if the supply of money is constant and the supply of goods and services increase then the prices drop (the value of money relative to the goods and services increase). If the world's GDP could continue to increase the way it has been increasing in the last 3 hundred years the inflation rate of Monero might not be enough to equal the increase in the world's GDP. Coupled with coins being constantly lost this might disincentivise the use of Monero as a currency. I don't really fancy the idea of Monero going the Bitcoin route.

From this logic it goes that in the event that the world's supply of goods and services decrease (as it did in 2020) the amount of the currency should decrease as well or at least remain stable in order to prevent price inflation. In my opinion this is infinitely better than what central banks are doing (inflating currencies in times good and bad).

What are your thoughts on the subject?

Edit: Grammar.

Cardano Rumor Rundown 03.28.2021

Hey Everyone!

I've been obsessively consuming all the Cardano news and media on a daily basis for years now. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to share a list of what I'm seeing for anyone else who's interested. Feel free to make additions as you see fit. Many of your additions from yesterday are in the “Newly Covered” list for today. Also let me know if you think any of the “Previously Covered but Still Interesting” items are no longer interesting and should leave the list.

Check out the youtube companion to today’s post: https://youtu.be/Fc4ae6d5yG4

Let's go....

Newly covered today:

  1. Charles signed a decision memo to expand the Ethiopia Office. IOHK will also be selecting an Ethiopian University in which to build a lab. They’ll be holding next pan-African developer class in Ghana. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CdzVz9TjcM
  2. Charles also mentions the new anti-scammer team at IOHK is investigating a certain “fund”. I think people here will definitely have a strong suspicion as to who that is. Id.
  3. Charles continued to sound certain that we will be able to get on Rogan. Said it’s just a strategic matter of timing it correctly after IOHK gets a little more done since the audience is so big. Id.
  4. The special committee in Ethiopia signed off on the Ethiopia deal on Thursday, March 25. This retires rumor #20 in the positive direction. No shenanigans there, broh! Now it goes directly to the Minister for his signature. It’s all going to be detailed in the Africa Special. Sounds like that’s when the Africa Bird will land and retire rumor #1. Here’s the AMA queued up to that exact spot. https://youtu.be/-CdzVz9TjcM?t=4433
  5. Goguen Summit will be online and likely in September. https://youtu.be/-CdzVz9TjcM?t=5121
  6. We actually should be happy the maximalists are giving us static. If you want to know why, check out the whiteboard segment of today’s youtube companion to this post.

Previously Covered but still interesting:

  1. Charles posts a pic of a taxidermy African bird called a Turacos. He follows up that post by saying "Guys sometimes a stuffed Ethiopian exotic bird next to an old identity book is just a stuffed Ethiopian exotic bird next to an old identity book. Stop reading into things". Everyone enjoys speculating what exactly this could mean with the obvious implication being that the African bird announcement involves digital identity in Ethiopia. https://twitter.com/IOHK_Charles/status/1369397063583227911 https://twitter.com/IOHK_Charles/status/1369402020067766275
  2. Famed crypto enthusiast and billionaire Mike Novogratz asks the Cardano world "Can anyone make a real bull case for $ADA? Does anyone build on it? Use it? Why is market cap so high? Should it be a funding asset? It’s one of the few cryptos I haven’t traded in my life." https://twitter.com/novogratz/status/1369255782462746624
  3. It's announced that 591 different assets have been minted on Cardano in the last eight days. https://twitter.com/IOHK_Charles/status/1369347294324162561
  4. Catalyst Fund 3 Voting is ongoing, it looks like the Yoroi team has worked out the voting problem in the Yoroi wallet. https://twitter.com/YoroiWallet/status/1369050858546200585
  5. Charles was on Real Vision earlier this week. https://twitter.com/RaoulGMI/status/1367804256783372288
  6. Cardano SPO Schweta Chauhan was profiled by Forbes. https://www.forbes.com/sites/tommywilliams1/2021/03/08/meet-30-inspirational-women-this-womens-history-month/?sh=383b28405208
  7. UAE Fund FD7 Ventures says ADA could 20x in next 2-3 years https://twitter.com/CardanoPoolXYZ/status/1367927864658690054/photo/1
  8. Charles will be speaking at the Blockchain Africa Conference this week which may or may not give us more clues as to the African Bird announcement. https://blockchainafrica.co/
  9. SingularityNet collaboration with Cardano going down. How else is Skynet gonna pay the Terminators? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWdp33bYJpQ https://www.youtube.com/c/SingularityNET/videos
  10. Wolfram Alpha collaboration with Cardano. What will it look like? Mentioned in several recent AMAs. Sounds like Charles and Stephen Wolfram want to be best brohs. That feels good broh.
  11. What did Charles actually do (if anything) on the day of the recent Thanos Infinity Gauntlet snap pic? Just general or was something specific happening behind the scenes? https://twitter.com/IOHK_Charles/status/1367874091722694656/photo/1 RETIRED!
  12. Alonzo hard fork (non)event to complete Goguen and add smart contracts in Q2. You’ll barely feel it broh. Not even an event. Lots of combinator broh.
  13. Actual target date of Alonzo hardfork combinator event (smart contracts) will be revealed at Cardano 360 show at end of March. https://twitter.com/IOHK_Charles/status/1366519588519731203
  14. Charles claimed Elon was trolling Cardano with “meta for k” on twitter. Can anyone argue one way or another on this? https://twitter.com/IOHK_Charles/status/1364350825271685122
  15. Ourobouros omega is slated to bring significant innovation to the Cardano consensus protocol. https://twitter.com/IOHK_Charles/status/1357364560504709120
  16. Possible Soulja Boy Cardano collab on NFT. Maybe Soulja Boy could be best brohs with Charles and Stephen Wolfram broh? https://twitter.com/souljaboy/status/1355770383396347907
  17. Coinbase Listing of ADA. Will the DCG Mafia ever allow ADA to compete on an even playing field with “their precious” (read in Gollum voice) ETH? Maybe we don’t even need them? RETIRED!
  18. Twitter revamp via Cardano? Charles did a whole vid on fixing social media curation. Other hand: they won’t even give Charles a blue check mark. (Retired: he finally got it) Other other hand: Jack has a mutual love of Africa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JilEb42q-CI&t=2325s
  19. In the Protocol Parameters vid, Charles suggested they will introduce a CIP (Cardano Improvement Proposal) to change the inflation model to accommodate pay for stakepools for processing transactions/data from the ETH, IELE, and Catalyst sidechains. We’ll get to vote on CIPs like this. Kablam! Democracy! Kablam! Voltaire! Kablam! More duckets for staking! Don’t worry broh. They’re gonna stay serious here broh. Charles squinting real hard/blinking/talking slower/using hands a lot here broh. Not planning to violate the things learned from the long Oxford research arc and the input of the Prism Group (Harvard dudes) broh. Snake still eats tail broh. Kablam! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJorRPk767s
  20. Charles mentioned a seven person anti-corruption committee reviewing the Ethiopia project. Hopefully no shenanigans there broh. Retired!
  21. Charles is scheduled to appear on Lex Fridman’s Podcast in June. Lex seems like a nice guy broh. He’ll probably end up best brohs with Charles, Stephen Wolfram, & Soulja Boy. Ben Goertzel is also in broh. Lex needs a girlfriend but no paying ADA to romance the androids. Just take lion’s mane, maybe some ‘83 Gordon & McPhail, and solve global issues together broh.
  22. Will a Joe Rogan appearance follow this? It was always ”Goguen before Rogan.” They both love meat and you can barely tell they’re both filthy rich. Match made in heaven?
  23. 100% Decentralization of block validation incoming this month!!!!
  24. Liquidity bird to land sometime soon? What is it? RETIRED!
  25. What about the whispers of a telecom deal? Part of the Ethiopia project?
  26. What about paying for utilities and transportation? Part of the Ethiopia deal?
  27. Academic credentialing project in the nation state of Georgia. Lots of mentions of this over the years.
  28. Mongolia project. Also lots of mentions of this over the years.
  29. Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana, & South Africa. It seems like there have been a decent number of indicators over the years that these governments are also already in play or targeted for the pan-Africa strategy of 100 MM users in 5-10 years.
  30. In the recent Cardano 360 show there was talk of Emurgo possibly being in the process of building something that sounded kind of like a Metamask for Cardano. Sebastian building stuff works good broh. If not, what will fill the Metamask role in the Cardano ecosystem as a sort of universal(ish) bridge for users of smart contracts? Daedalus? Or something new that would be standalone?
  31. Justin Roiland knows about Cardano. What if they ever mention it on the show broh? https://twitter.com/JustinRoiland/status/1363000121248473088
  32. There is also the looming possibility of a Bitstamp listing. https://www.bitstamp.net/article/bitstamp-continues-exploring-support-additional-di/

  34. Cardano tattoos are starting to get elaborate. https://twitter.com/BloomPool_io/status/1370148734177325056
  35. There will be a “Mastering Cardano” book. No author signed on yet. Hopefully he or she will have a hairline that is even more dracula than Andreas Antonopoulos. I kid. Love Andreas.
  36. Cardano reached 550k wallets in half the time it took BTC https://twitter.com/nierop_pieter/status/1369933366368362496
  37. Cardano now has it’s own thirst trap twitter accounts. I won’t list them. But, you probably already know which ones those are if you follow #cardano. It’s probably bullish that we are now big enough for them to target us.
  38. We can now claim that Catalyst is the world’s biggest DAO! Luckily, I think it is safe to suspect that ours is less susceptible to recursive call attacks than ETH’s first big DAO. https://twitter.com/InputOutputHK/status/1369961368946946053
  39. IOHK releases a good article contrasting the various blockchain accounting methods: EUTXO (Cardano) vs. UTXO (Bitcoin) vs. Account Balance (Ethereum). This is one of those nice articles where the British guy pleasantly reads it to you if you want. Use this one to convince all your friends you are the ultimate blockchain expert: “listen Kyle...the shortcoming of UTXO accounting is....” https://iohk.io/en/blog/posts/2021/03/11/cardanos-extended-utxo-accounting-model/
  40. Cardano devs at IOHK are the most productive in the industry! Already 3,170 commits and climbing this week! I sleep better at night knowing they are not allowed to sleep. Kidding….kidding. https://twitter.com/InputOutputHK/status/1369589307720269825

  44. Charles gives us that real talk about why a young billionaire would devote his life to this Cardano thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7Da6sFAxuI
  45. Cardano uses a tiny fraction of the energy some other top-ten blockchains use. This factoid alone should allow you to hook up with eco-obsessed nature people. https://twitter.com/RichardMcCrackn/status/1370571904969551875

Will the economics of the delegation/staking landscape require SPOs to share those Babel Fee tokens with their delegators?
  48. Will NFTs be a glaring exclusion from Babel Fees? Will I have to pay for the transaction fees on my NFT in ADA because I don’t want to give an SPO a small piece of the ownership interest in the digital art or other asset represented by the NFT?

  90. Critics think that lack of burned fees is a valid complaint against Cardano. But, good outcomes at scale only come with good incentives and free competition. So, if the fees aren’t paying the costs of transactions in these other protocols, the question goes begging: who is? In the end, the answer always turns out to be that the transaction costs have just been obfuscated under the guise of inflation via coin emission or some other hidden tax on someone in the ecosystem (usually the coin holders). https://twitter.com/avaxholder/status/1373336728010956801
  91. We are starting to see cracks in the psychological armor of the Ethereum crowd. 92. When smart contracts go live with Alonzo (the final HFC event in Goguen), and we eventually have Babel Fees, it’s going to make almost zero sense for any developer to choose ETH over Cardano. This will apply especially to any project that sends tokens to its customers (e.g. NFT projects) and any project that involves significant computation or transaction loads on the network (e.g. DeFi projects).

  99. Great new interview with Sebastien! In this one he explains a lot about the dApp Connector being built by Emurgo. As reported by a commenter in one of our earlier threads, it will work with Ergo first and then Cardano. A very interesting tidbit was Sebastien’s explanation of how the Emurgo dApp Connector will actually be safer than Metamask (which fills a similar role in the ETH ecosystem). Very good info. Thanks to Sebastien and the Cardano Podcast! https://youtu.be/Dkw7hvFP6dY
  100. Today is Cardano 360 day!!!! Watch it here at 10:30AM Pacific, 17:30 GMT, 18:30 CET. This is the live monthly streaming show from IOHK. Watch this one. Hopefully we’ll get a target date for Alonzo. That’ll tell us when we get smart contracts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQt7AjimaAg
  101. Looks like the Cardano 360 show may highlight how Cardano will not experience some of the shortcomings that leading blockchains have in the past (like the time that bitcoin accidentally issued 184 billion BTC in one block). https://twitter.com/IOHK_Charles/status/1374783084881608706
  102. Catalyst Fund 5 will have a $2MM total budget! Included will be a very interesting $50k Metadata challenge in Fund 5. Metadata can be used to prove the existence of a certain document or event to third parties without necessarily revealing the data contained therein. This means you can do cool things on the blockchain without using smart contracts as in the prior New Balance anti-counterfeiting and Beefchain traceability Cardano projects. The winners of this challenge are actually going to be incubated and supported by the IOHK Metadata team! People waiting for Goguen and smart contracts are definitely sleeping on what can be done with metadata on Cardano today. https://www.crowdcast.io/e/fund4-6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pjg_u7Oeel0
  103. There is a Catalyst Dashboard available that gives you all the stats on the current projects in Cardano’s multi-million dollar decentralized innovation fund (the world’s biggest). https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15R-Vbajy4t4fGs1TipNMfL1pEO9cwdn6WV13lKviX4Q/edit#gid=40774150
  104. Charles says they are going to end up spending $15-30MM this year on research and they will hire 100-200 people. That’s an investment in the future of the ecosystem! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLwyFADws8w
  105. Cardano 360 was yesterday! The big news first: it sounds like the Alonzo (smart contracts) testnet will launch around end of April or early May. It’s looking like Alonzo HFC event will happen on main net late July or August. The stream was over three hours long. They covered so much! Now, let’s get to the other details revealed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULBLgPgxtN8
  106. Grigory Rosu from Runtime Verification gave a big rundown on the universality in programming languages that will be provided by K framework in Cardano. He said he should have some kind of proof of concept around six months from now.
  107. Michael Peyton Jones and Manual Chakravarty (the architects of Plutus) talked about 1) the benefits of Cardano’s modern approach to designing Plutus TX and Plutus Core and how Plutus Core basically being lambda calculus allows for mathematical verification of software written in Plutus, 2) how UTXO (and EUTXO in Cardano) are much more battle proven than other ledger accounting systems like account balance system (e.g. ETH) which have had problems, 3) how non-fungible role tokens will be a thing, and 4) how they are now laying out a real development platform for builders instead of just throwing Plutus out into the world.
  108. Lars Brรผnjes (Head of Education) laid out how they are going to train a group of developers through the Plutus Pioneers program. That group will help test the Alonzo test net after it launches.
  109. Lars has also cloned Uniswap in Plutus with a graphical user interface and completely automated price discovery in the liquidity pools. He did this as a proof of concept to show the capabilities of Plutus. That was demoed right on the stream.
  110. They then brought on people from three different Haskell development firms who will be building things on the testnet as a sort of “red team” test of Alonzo. They all seemed to be very capable in terms of Haskell development (note here that Plutus is basically Haskell).
  111. Tom Lindeman (Chief Security Officer at Runtime Verification) then laid out how disastrous the last few years in Ethereum have been for smart contract security. But, Cardano has a solution. IOHK and Runtime Verification will partner to certify smart contracts as to security. Runtime Verification will do the security audits. This program will be called “Alpha Frontier”.
  112. Charles then laid out the details of the timeline for Alonzo as described above. It sounds like they are targeting to be totally done and hit a code/feature freeze at the end of June. But, it will take Coinbase, Kraken, Binance et al. at least four weeks to update their systems before they can actually launch smart contracts on mainnet.
  113. Collin Edwards and Duncan Couts then gave us an update on the stake pool world as we approach “D DAy” or d=0 which is full decentralization of block production. A stake pool operator Shawn McMurdo has made some Cardano Improvement proposals as to 1) a non-linear curved basis for a0 (pronounced a-naught, represents stake pool operator pledge) to affect rewards more greatly, 2) non-centralized rankings in Daedalus, and 3) an adjustment to minimum fees from fixed to variable. Collin and Duncan clarified there will be no changes to a0 (pledge) or k (max pool size) at the d=0 (full decentralization) event coming up. Duncan also laid out how they are going to launch P2P node testnet in early Q2. This will allow for information to flow directly between nodes and will accomplish automation of things like peer discovery that are currently manual on the network.
  114. Dor Garbash then gave an update on Catalyst. As covered previously here, Catalyst has become a monster. There are 17k people in Ideascale and the treasury is worth more than $400MM. You heard that right, almost a half billion dollars in the Catalyst Treasury. We also heard from a bunch of the previous catalyst winners.
  115. Someone paid $23k for the notorious “Your telling the CEO of IOHK…” tweet. https://v.cent.co/tweet/1374769078519300097?s=u_a
  116. IOHK is rolling out a new team that will fight the scammers in crypto. In my mind this involves guys in polo shirts with popped collars and Ledger Nano Xs around their necks carrying these and hunting the bad guys while ‘90s action movie music plays. Probably Dwayne Johnson is their commander. Maybe that’s not what Charles has in mind. https://twitter.com/IOHK_Charles/status/1375473873651568640
  117. Cardano is the Tesla of crypto. We’re just in that early stage right before the Model 3 launch where the Ford and GM guys are at peak fear/peak shit talking but we haven’t made that big deployment yet. “It’s an illusion, they’ll never release a sub $40k car.” We’ll see shortly, gentlemen...we’ll see.
