The time has come for us to test what we have created. Trust in numbers yet we trust in exchanges, in people, in corporations.

On the 3rd of January 2019, 10 years on, let us all withdraw our BTC to wallets we control. Let's see if it is all there, let us see who fails, let us see the network work.

We lose nothing, we risk nothing, those companies and exchanges that cannot be trusted will be exposed.

We must assert control, we must prove this is ours.

We need a time to coordinate, 16:00 UTC 03/Jan/2019 is as good as any other. By this hour let us have concluded our transactions and hold our coins in our wallets.

04/Jan/2019 we return to business as usual, with renewed confidence.

Interview with Zac Cheah, CEO and Co Founder of Pundi X, by Crypto Rand

https://i.redd.it/vqlsp569a4421.png

How would you describe the main pillars of the project?

The project began, of course, with our XPOS, an intelligent, blockchain-based point-of-sales (“POS”) device that makes it easy to buy, sell and transact in cryptocurrencies in physical retail stores. We saw this as the ‘last mile’ challenge for future adoption of the blockchain technology and helping to bring the vision of cryptocurrency back toward its initial grounding as a form of spendable, digital cash.

Bring blockchain-based transactions into our daily lifeThat device is being well received by global retail: we have begun shipping 5000 pre-orders to customers in Europe, Asia and South America with deals for many more underway. Our end goal is 100,000 by 2021.But bringing our project to scale also sent us towards further innovation. We began researching and integrating the top 100 public chains to out XPOS to lay the groundwork for instant transactions and confirmations. But none suited our goal, either due to a shortfall in capacity or documentation. So, we set out to make our own. That brought us to Function X, our new blockchain to be released next year.

https://i.redd.it/5wogc1zna4421.png

Build the future of the decentralized internetWith it, we’ve created something more than a public chain for recording transactions but the basis for using blockchain to create a decentralized internet.

As we showed recently, it can make use of the blockchain to make and receive phone calls, something we demonstrated with a new product, the XPhone (Q2, 2019). But its potential uses are much broader toward, we believe, being used to decentralize every bit and byte of data on the internet.

Last month we showed how it can be used to publish decentralized applications on Function X with a new ride sharing app that allowed customers and passengers to connect directly via smart contract. Ultimately we see Function X, and devices that run on it, as a way to use blockchain to hand control back to consumers and creators over their data and to mitigate the control currently exercised by central intermediaries.Phew, there it is in a nutshell.

https://i.redd.it/1l4c1vb2b4421.png

About the team and supporters, what are your strengths?

Teamwise our strength probably lies in diversity. We bring together different strengths, perspectives and experience in a wide range of fields in finance and tech. Pitt our CTO has had a very successful career as an entrepreneur with successful exits from a range of startups that proved highly successful and ahead-of-the-trend including the PC version of GroupOn.

Our other senior executives include people like chief legal counsel David Ben Kay, who is formerly the general counsel for Microsoft China and the Ethereum Foundation; Vic Tham, the former COO for transaction banking for Bank of America-Merrill Lynch; Kiki, our President, who has run two of Indonesia’s biggest fintech firms for two decades; and of course Danny, our CFO, who is ex-Baidu and Lenovo and an expert in project financing. Bring this team together and you’re overwhelmed by intelligent perspectives on any given problem.

But our community is probably just as impressive. It’s become a pretty shop-worn cliché, I know, but I think the numbers more than bear it out. We’re among the top handful of crypto projects on Facebook (115,000 followers) so we’re clearly punching above our weight, while we have very active Twitter (53.6K followers) and Telegram (28.9K members) too. If you want to see the proof of our community’s strength have a look at some of our supporters such as Stanry (@heavenlycharm) or Onallee who have literally travelled overseas to use our products and spread the word about them. We’re hugely lucky to have supporters like these.

https://i.redd.it/rv5o1jdab4421.png

Thinking about the future, do you have any roadmap with relevant upgrades or partnerships?

Sure. Here’re our plans for the next two quarters, encompassing new launches for Pundi X but also expanding the series of international events we co-sponsor: XBlockchain.

Q1 2019

-Kick off the international series of XBlockchain summit in China

-Grow XWallet and XPASS card adoption rate to increase transactions on the XPOS

-Establishing new local branch offices

-Introduce the XPOS and XPASS as a medium for charitable donations via a partnership with a major non-profit organization

Q2 2019

-Expand the international series of XBlockchain summit to South America

-Launch Function X testnet

-Deliver XPhone to the consumer market

What’s the added value of Pundix in comparison with other competitors ?

It’s a good question. Speaking in particular about our XPOS, there are many different approaches to introducing blockchain payments to what is a $2.2-trillion global industry, each with their pros and each with their drawbacks.

I think first of all we give our clients control. Others seek to build on top of some of incumbent payment providers, which basically locks in sometimes unfavourable fee structures or requirements for ongoing use of a particular payment system. Secondly, our terms are very favourable: we price our product low compared to other market players and the fees are slim and can bet by merchants themselves.

Finally, we offer a way to bring in new functionality in the form of crypto payments with a model of POS that mirrors pretty closely the existing process flow in a retail environment. We must always remember retailers are a lot more conservative than early adopters and they have the process of managing a busy checkout down to a fine art — that’s one part of the equation we aren’t looking to disrupt. For our Function X blockchain it’s the added functionality: Being able to use the blockchain to transmit data of all kinds is a totally new step with major implications.

https://i.redd.it/pzrfz498c4421.png

What are the use cases you are looking to cover?

Whatever we do we’re guided by the principle of bringing blockchain to the forefront of people’s everyday lives. I think there’s no other place worth concentrating your energy at the moment.

For payments that means making it easier for currencies like Bitcoin to be put to use. This was, after all, what Satoshi Nakomoto first envisioned. The use of crypto for real world payments has not kept pace with the attention that it has gotten from its speculative booms, but we think that’s because it hasn’t been integrated seamlessly onto the status quo in the way we’re trying to do.

As for the future uses for our blockchain, we see these as pretty well unbounded. We’re looking to promote the use of a decentralized blockchain internet for as many uses as can be found.

As consumers become increasingly concerned about taking back control of their data (see: the recent Facebook election scandal in the US, the growing demand for privacy-focused apps such as Signal) I think blockchain-based mediums for communication will grow in their applications. It’s a new space for blockchain too, taking it beyond transactions, but one that I think will become increasingly central.

How are you aiming to provide scalability to your service?

This is one of the biggest ones facing anyone who wants to bring blockchain into payments. The design of our blockchain is for every Pundi X device (XPOS and XPhone) to function as a node. That means any growth in use of XPOS devices results in a commensurate increase in the number of nodes and, so, our speed and throughput.

With our plans for 100,000 deployed by 2021 we’ll be aiming to create a large and geographically distributed network of nodes that can verify and process transactions and be used for sharding and other solutions to scale.

https://i.redd.it/v0u7a3crc4421.png

Evaluation of the current scenario for Pundix and the blockchain industry?

For 2019 I’ll be quoting Field of Dreams: “If you build it, they will come”.

Thanks for your time.

Email Bomb Threat Potential Spam?

One of my companies is getting blasted with bomb threats. They're asking for 20k USD into a bitcoin account. Anyone else running into this? I think it's spam but I wonder if we should get the police involved. It's one thing to solicit money or gift cards but a bomb threat seems like a big deal.

Sample message:

I write you to inform you that my man hid the explosive device (Tetryl) in the building where your company is conducted. My mercenary constructed the bomb according to my guide. It can be hidden anywhere because of its small size, it is impossible to damage the building structure by this explosive device, but in the case of its detonation there will be many wounded people.
My man is controlling the situation around the building. If any unusual activity, panic or cop is noticed he will power the bomb.
I want to offer you a transaction. 20'000 usd is the cost for your life. Pay it to me in BTC and I ensure that I have to call off my man and the bomb will not explode. But do not try to deceive me- my warranty will become actual only after 3 confirmations in blockchain network.

My payment details (btc address)- (removed)

You have to pay me by the end of the working day, if the workday is over and people start leaving the building the device will explode.
Nothing personal, if I do not receive the bitcoin and the bomb detonates, next time other companies will send me more money, because it isnt a single incident.
For security and anonymity reasons, I will no longer enter this email. I check my address every 40 min and if I see the money I will give the command to my man to get away.

If an explosion occurred and the authorities read this letter:
We are not terrorists and do not assume any responsibility for explosions in other buildings.

Phishing scammers are upping the ante...

Just got this email... This is just insane.

Subject: Your building is under my control

Hello. There is an explosive device (tronitrotoluene) in the building where your company is located. It is assembled according to my guide. It has small dimensions and it is covered up very carefully, it is impossible to damage the structure of the building by my explosive device, but in case of its explosion there will be many victims. My man is watching the situation around the building. If any unnatural behavior, panic or emergency is noticed he will blow up the device. I can withdraw my mercenary if you make a transfer. You transfer me $20'000 in BTC and the bomb will not detonate, but do not try to cheat -I ensure you that I will withdraw my mercenary solely after 3 confirmations in blockchain network.

Here is my BTC address - 12bzhtdr2kx5Tum4MJqmsfiePnKFvQLw7L

You must pay me by the end of the working day. If you are late with the transaction the bomb will explode. Nothing personal, if you don’t transfer me the bitcoins and an explosive device detonates, next time other commercial enterprises will send me more money, because this is not a one-time action. For security and anonymity reasons, I will no longer enter this email account. I check my Bitcoin address every forty min and after receiving the bitcoins I will give the command to my person to leave your district.

If the explosive device blows up and the authorities notice this message! We are not terrorists and dont take responsibility for acts of terrorism in other buildings.

But now it seems that both chains are only 3 blocks appart to I don't think this will work?

Maybe someone can send me a couple of satoshis which are only valid on one chain? - XXXXXXXXXXXX (please post if you do, so I don't get more than 1 small donation)

Thank you very much and I hope this post is not seen as money begging :-)

Where is better to do crypto trading?

Not all countries treat cryptocurrencies well. Therefore, if you are thinking of trading in digital assets, it will be useful for you to know in which countries this is a good thing.

We made for you a rating guide. Please feel free to use it!

https://i.redd.it/b8eio7mic0421.jpg

Let's start with the negative attitude

China

In China, history seems to be reversed. They are "witch-hunting" again... We mean crypto platforms hunting, of course. At the same time, the matter concerns not only crypto exchanges but also peer-to-peer platforms.

In order to trade in crypto assets, the local population uses VPN.

Bolivia

The Bolivian Financial Supervisory Authority System (ASFI) is quite cruel to those involved in cryptocurrency matters. In any case, there are already 60 people on trial for this type of activity.

Moreover, since 2014, Bolivia has considered both Bitcoin and all Altcoins as pyramidal schemes. This is the first country in the world to ban the use of absolutely any currency that would not be issued or controlled by the government.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh law enforcement agencies are actively seeking holders and traders since any cryptocurrency operations are prohibited. For them, all the methods seem to be good - except that there is no announcement of a reward for their heads.

The Central Bank of the country declared that cryptocurrencies cannot be legal means of payment.

... continue with the neutral attitude

Japan

The Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA) is now considering the possibility of changing the legal framework for cryptocurrencies.

It is important that Japan is the first country to adopt a bill that recognizes cryptocurrency as a means of legal payments.

South Korea

After considering the issue of banning trade in cryptocurrencies and ICO in 2017, because of the fear of possible money laundering and tax evasion, South Korea is developing a structure that will allow Korean companies to collect funds on crypto markets.

The market also suffered from bursts of manipulation schemes. In response to many questions, South Korea issued a direct ban, and only recently decided to partially accept crypto market with certain conditions.

Seychelles

Now in Seychelles, several large crypto exchanges are registered. They are probably attracted by the lack of regulation of cryptocurrency trading and the advantages of the offshore zone.

However, at the moment the status of Bitcoin in this region is controversial.

Belarus

Legal regulation of cryptocurrency in Belarus so far consists only of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of December 21, 2017 No. 8 "On the Development of the Digital Economy." The decree has not entered into force, so Belarusians have no formal permission to use cryptocurrency in any way.

But at the same time, the country's leadership is loyal to the crypto industry. It is possible that a trading space "paradise" will appear in Belarus.

Russian Federation

Since January 2018, the implementation of cryptocurrency legislation has been actively discussed in the country, but so far there has been little success in this area.

Singapore

The country plans to divide cryptocurrency actions into three categories. The first is utility tokens, the second is digital security tokens, and the third group will include payment tokens, that is, cryptocurrencies.

In general, many cryptocurrency startups complain about not too transparent legislation in Singapore. At the same time, the government is clearly keen on the idea of attracting crypto traders.

... and end with a positive attitude

Malta

Malta is one of the most cryptocurrency-friendly countries.

The group of islands exceeds the major players: Japan, Korea, China, USA and Belize. The country has advanced in the acceptance of the crypto industry, ahead of such former leaders as China and the United States.

Even Binance crypto exchange moves to Malta. It means a lot!

Great Britain

Great Britain is another country that has long entered the race for the title of world cryptocurrency capital.

"The UK competes with other financial centers around the world that are also striving to become the crypto capital, so it’s important that this regulation be implemented as soon as possible," said Zeeshan Feroz, Coinbase UK CEO, in a letter to CNBC

USA

Los Angeles - the first in the list of US cities that accepts Bitcoin. There are 878 companies working for cryptocurrency. New York is the second after Los Angeles.

Manhattan in New York took the first place in terms of crypto trading - 6.9%, followed by Chicago - 4.9%, Jacksonville - 4.2%, San Francisco - 3.5%, San Antonio - 3.1%, and Washington - 2.4%.

Switzerland

Switzerland launches the process of registering crypto exchangers. To legalize their business, companies need to obtain a license from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA).

Australia

Crypto exchanges are legalized in Australia, and the country is progressing in establishing legislation that meets the challenges of the crypto industry.

In 2018, the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) announced the implementation of reliable cryptocurrency exchange rules.

The new rules require that exchanges operating in Australia register with AUSTRAC, identify and verify users, keep accounts, and fulfill AML / CFT reporting obligations.

In the future, unregistered crypto platforms will be subject to criminal charges and financial penalties.

Such conditions will surely be attractive to traders who are attentive to their assets and want to keep them safe and sound.

The Most Anonymous Cryptocurrency ARRR | Enter The PIRATE CHAIN

ARRR – Pirate Chain
Komodo was undoubtedly one of the most underrated cryptocurrencies of 2018, even though fundamentally it was one of the soundest projects. The security, privacy advantages and impressive 10k tx/s offered by the KMD platform went largely unnoticed by the market. However, Komodo wasn’t entirely ignored. Within the community and discussions present on the KMD platform were a handful of capable individuals that eventually conceptualized a new and better cryptocurrency, ARRR.

Fundamental
ARRR, or also known as Pirate, is an independent blockchain built as an asset chain to the KMD platform. Designed as a combination of ZEC and XMR, Pirate looks to improve the privacy and security features of XMR whilst fixing the fungibility problem of ZEC through the enforcement of forced shield-transactions.

The issue is that transactions from shielded balances to transparent balances are often the cause of decreased fungibility, as it is possible to identify coin mixing patterns. Concerns are also had about coins being “tainted” by affiliations to past transactions. The solution is to completely prevent this from happening.

This means that Pirate is a forced shield-transactions (z-transactions) only blockchain, making transparent transactions impossible on the Pirate blockchain. The ultimate objective of the project is to be the next-gen privacy cryptocurrency with completely anonymous transactions, except for mining rewards and notary node logs.

As an asset chain of the KMD ecosystem, Pirate also inherits much of Komodo’s features such as Zero Knowledge Privacy and delayed Proof-of-Work (dPoW). Also included, is the ability to backup asset chain records into the Komodo main chain and record them on as a hash on Bitcoin. This effectively enables the asset chain’s records to be then included in the backup that is pushed into the protective hash rate of the main Proof-of-Work (PoW) blockchain, Bitcoin.

This is made possible due to KMD being a fork of ZEC, which was a fork of BTC. In this way, the asset chain records can be protected by the largest hash-rate available on one blockchain. To compromise an asset chain that is employing Komodo’s dPoW protocol, the attacker would have to destroy all existing copies of the asset chain, all copies of the KMD main chain, and the accompanying PoW network (Bitcoin) into which the dPoW backups are inserted.

A visualized schematic of dPoW protocol.

Komodo’s security service is performed by notary nodes, chosen through a stake-weighted vote. These notary nodes have the option to switch notarization to another PoW network besides BTC if needed. For an example, in the event where worldwide miners’ hashing power changes to that of another PoW network, or the cost of notarization becomes unsustainable.
In addition, since KMD derive from ZEC and BTC, all features included in the Bitcoin protocol and Zcash parameters are also available on ARRR. This includes Zk-SNARKS, the top-tier standard for blockchain privacy at this time.

Even for individuals with the utmost priority for privacy will require the need for receipts to verify transactions, therefore Pirate will utilize view keys for this purpose. With view keys, one can prove they paid a certain amount of coins to a certain address. A node processing an incoming viewing key for a z-address can view all past transactions received by that address, as well as all future transactions sent to it. The viewing party cannot spend any funds from the address.

Cryptocurrency
According to information included in the Pirate whitepaper, current block-time is 60 seconds, using the Equihash Proof-of-Work mining algorithm. The maximum supply is approximately 200 million ARRR, with a speed of 6-26 TPS and a transaction fee of 0.0001 ARRR.

Included is also an emission schedule of the Pirate cryptocurrency, halving in block rewards every 388885 blocks, equating to an estimated 270 days per reward period.

Development
Though early in its infancy, the Pirate team has been able to facilitate the use of z-address deposits and withdrawals with the exchange DigitalPrice.io and successfully launched coin trading at the end of October 2018. And because it is an KMD integration, Sapling is planned for mid-December 2018, enabling future development of Point-of-Sale (PoS) integration, hardware wallet, Web Shop Plugins, and mobile wallets through Simple Payment Verification (zSPV). The development of a Pirate Foundation is also planned for Q1 2019, with hardware wallet integrations being estimated for Q3 2019.

The Pirate team has already set themselves apart from the existing competitors due to it’s open-sourced, community approach and the progress they’ve achieved thus far. For a market with a waning trust in the current cryptocurrency teams, Pirate may be the fresh breath of air private-centric consumers are looking for. The pioneers of ARRR are enthusiastic and looking to continue to contribute and/or improve the project at a pace not seen by very many other altcoin projects.
