Prelude
"Our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal." - John Kennedy, 1963
Many of you have expressed interest in our government experiment. Today we lead the charge.
Our system is one of financial and people development - as our people grow stronger, so do we get richer. Economy comes from the Greek for household management, and we function as a big house: full of people and full of treasures. But there comes a time when these treasures must be put into the hands of the new, to invest, to work, to study and to make them into more than gems but jewels, more than gold but ornaments, more than a band but a high society.
Our system for people development is taken from Benjamin Franklin system of virtues, along with the accompanying study guides. For rarely has anyone so succinctly and completely spelled out the path to the good life. For those new to Benjamin Franklin, I suggest taking his 13 week course in self-improvement; one which he took several times throughout his journey. He began each day, for there was not one to lose, asking "What good shall I do this day?" and addressed the Powerful Goodness within and without.
How much better would the world be if we did likewise.
From there he devised a system. First he delivered his almanac, Poor Richard's, to educate and entertain the people with witticisms, he authored the Way to Wealth, and made himself a formidable hand in politics, penning such tyraids against governors that he was formally reprimanded by the age of 14. Having charge of the printing press, mastering the craft of language, embossed him with qualities few would ever come to possess. And he used them well.
After sometime, he orchestrated a system to spread his good deeds, not by hands but into the minds of others - forming a Junto. This Junto, or social club, was a peaceful, sensible, and rigorous system for conducting societal study and investigating intrigues. Upon the end of a Friday night, a new topic would be chosen for that week's study. Upon the reconvenning the subsequent Friday, each would report what they had learned regarding Morals, Politics, or Natural Philosophy (called science today). Each week, one would present an essay he or she had written, and with 12 members present, that meant 4 essays per year to the person.
In such a way the spirit of truthful discovery was much advanced within the colonies, and which lead not to a resistance so much as an orderly deliverance into something much, much better than the proclamations of kings and magistrates.
“Everyone here will ultimately be judged – will ultimately judge himself, on the efforts he has contributed to building a new world society, to the extent which his ideals, or goals, have shaped that effort.” - Robert Kennedy, 1966
A New World Society
Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters. - Benjamin Franklin
This progress lead to America becoming one of the most highly mechanized societies in all the world. Education and civility went beyond the Gentlemen of Dickens but entered the hearts of the everyday people - each man took on his part. In turn, unlike the profiteer Crassus who extorted Romans through monopolizing the fire department, Franklin developed a volunteer system. This system spread to the development of Public Libraries, and many other similar social structures, and eventually culminated into the belief that common people could run government.
Today we relive that vision.
Our system is modeled after Franklin's Junto but instead of groups of 12 we use 8, for easier accounting and due to the shrinking of family sizes (families of 12 were not uncommon in those days). Indeed Franklin was one of seventeen, with little to inherit: he had to make it himself. These groups of 8 are to gather and initiate discussion as Franklin had intended, on Morals, Politics, or Science. Politics in these days was as much about the life of people, as it was over the concerns of just the magistrate.
After 50 minutes, we will call an election. Each person will receive a number, 1 through 8, and three numbers will be chosen at random. From those three 1 will be nominated to become their representative (with a coin flipped in the case of a tie). No more than 90 seconds will be permitted for campaigning, and votes can be secretly or publicly cast. For our online system, we will write down the name of our chosen on a piece of paper, and flip the pages over once all are ready.
This process repeats once more, making two representatives per table or team.
Thus 4 tables create 2 representatives each, forming a new table of 8. These 8 people, representing 32 others in total, go on to engage in a similarly like-minded discussion, spread their cultural, scientific, moral, and political values - creating a harmony in the whole.
From these 8 two more will be nominated, and thus will conclude our first experiment in people leadership.
Thus there are two rounds:
Round 1 - Everyone competes, for 1 hour.
Round 2 - Representatives compete, for 1 hour.
And for so doing, for participating, for sacrificing an hour of your life for the betterment of the good, you will be rewarded - before the metaphysical, with money. Cash money - cold coins - pieces of eight: bling.
Everyone who participates (with earnest) will receive 3 coins each - each of the 32 participants will receive 3 coins, and yes only 32 can join for the month of December, expanding to 128 for January.
Each representative will earn 12 coins. Thus 8 people will split 96 coins. Finally, the final 2 representatives will earn an additional 3 coins to each member of the table from which they originated - and will set agendas for the following month's study.
For a total prize pool of 480 coins, or Kennedys.
Kennedys Coin
Our coins are called Kennedys, named after JFK. Each will have a guaranteed minimum value of $0.50 USD, redeemable to our Patron Sponsor. Minimum redemption must be $20, with a maximum of $1,000 - one redemption per month. To sell your coins, just contact me and I will get you a Paypal or BTC transfer for a USD equivalent value. Note: You do not HAVE to surrender your coins for $0.50, and indeed I encourage you to hold on to them as they might grow in value, but this is the *MINIMUM value they will have. No coins will be sold to the public for less than $2 each.
However, there is a second prize.
From among the 32 registrants, 8 will be nominated as prime contributors, or honorees. These 8 will be put forth from the groups at large, thus one person might be nominated at each of the four tables simultaneously.
Once 8 unique names are chosen, per table, a similar voting process will repeat; until 8 unique names are selected by the groups as a whole (again two per table, save for the case of a tie or a repeat, in which it will be discarded and the next highest vote winner selected, or a coin flipped in the case of a tie).
The honorees will receive 12 coins each, for a total of 96.
Finally, between the four groups, 2 groups must be decided as the groups which have contributed the most good, and will be awarded 50 coins, split 6.25 each.
In January the prize pool will about double.
Thus for December, we have 872 Kennedys awarded, between 32 people, for an average of 27.25 coins each.
As these groups expand, the prize pools will group, roughly doubling each month until we have 8,192 people within the competition, sometime around April.
Additional Information
Beginning February, when we have 512 people compete, we will start writing anonymous essays criticizing society, as a homage to Benjamin Franklin (limited to 1 page) or shall we say Silence Dogood.
The prizes and structure changes per month, so please pay close attention for further details. By the month of June, we should be prepared to hold a campout in Tennessee, and all those are welcome to attend, up to approximately 10,000 people.
Discussions must be recorded using a video conferencing system and shared with the internet for education and verification, last approximately 1 hour, and be of the mind as that demonstrated by Benjamin Franklin.
Discussion will last about 50 minutes, and representatives selection will comprise the final 10 minutes.
Come January, this process will repeat, from a total of 128.
While this all may seem quite confusing and overwhelming for now, breath and take one step at a time. For now, all you must do is join up, partner, and form a group of 8 - and make your Junto.
If you'd prefer a more private board upon which to discuss, we have set aside Kennedyscoin.org for that purpose - as something of a 'safe space' to complement the anarchy and public ridicule of Reddit.
Please form and join teams early, as soon as possible. Once you have a team of 8 notify us, and we can start the group meetings. Once 4 meetings have been concluded, we will move on to round two. And finally, about a week after the initial meetings, and after conclusion of the representatives meeting, we will have one more quick recap for about 10 minutes to select honorees & group honors - and that's it. That will wrap it all up.
Still today, the legacy of Benjamin Franklin lives on. Many may recall the enormous endowments which he left Boston and Philadelphia of 1,000 pounds each, to gather interest for 200 years - worth over $8,000,000 dollars upon completion. Yet few recall the American Philosophical Society. In this regard, we hope to expand that vision to a growing, vastly growing number of people - to spread this cultural and educational sharing to a large number of people, potentially worldwide.
And to do so we have created Bitcoin 1776, a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin which we will use to send and transfer funds. These coins will serve as our seed money (along with Patron Sponsorship) to get this organization going. Furthermore, as we go along, perhaps others take notice and, who knows, perhaps the value of these collectibles grows into something more.
For all these early participants, you will be rewarded. And I thank you for taking the time, expressing interest, and helping to push us forward along this process.
The way to be safe, is never to be secure
We live in a very uncertain world. Let us make it more clear.
