Q&A

Q: When will [insert game name here] be cracked?

A: STOP! r/CrackWatch members are not psychic. Games get cracked by completely ANONYMOUS SCENE GROUPS who don't disclose their progress or plans to the general public so NO ONE knows WHEN and IF a certain game will be cracked.

Q: What are all these NFO thingies? Where do I download?

A: NFOs are text files included with game releases which contain information about the releases. r/CrackWatch only informs which games have been cracked. To download look for the releases on CS.RIN.RU or torrent websites. Useful websites can be found in The Beginners Guide and on WebOasis.

Q: WTF is Denuvo?

A: Denuvo is a Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology used to protect games from being cracked. Games that have Denuvo are harder to crack and usually take much longer. See Pinned Post for a list of Denuvo games.

Q: An update is out, but it includes the base game as well! Can I only download the update without redownloading the entire game?

A: Yes. CS.RIN.RU is your friend.

I, in all 100% honesty, want to become an antichrist. But, hear me out, I have a story.

Hello, this is actually my first reddit post ever, so I'm still new to reddit, but I wanted to post this where I thought it would be the most fitting. Hello everyone, I have recently been through something that has caused me so much emotional trauma, that after 20 years of following Jesus Christ, I no longer believe in him. But, not only do I not believe in him, but I am so against him that I can never see myself ever reconciling with him or asking anything from him. But also, with how much I suffer from the event that happened in my life, I despise God so greatly that I want nothing to do with him, even to the point of going completely against him, which leads me into wanting to be an antichrist. But, and please just hear me out, I'm not a bad person. I'm very loving and kind to anyone that I meet, and I strive to help others to the best of my ability. I grew up a Christian, so loving people with a love like God's love was something that was instilled in me at a young age. And I loved God too, loving was just something that naturally came over the years. So, how did I go from being a loving Christian and following God, to wanting to go completely against God to the point that I now want with all my heart to be an antichrist? Let's talk a little bit about my background. So as mentioned before, I was a Christian for 20 years (since I was 5, I'm 25 now). I loved God, went to church, loved people, read my bible, followed the word, grew up in a Christian home, made friends (many of which are Christian), had goals and dreams, and that was my life. I even went to a private Christian university for college. And my life was nice and simple, get a degree, get a job, live life. But, growing up, I was always troubled a little. My parents divorced when I was 6, and my father turned into the most evil asshole that a kid could have as a father. As a result I developed a lot of emotional problems that to this day (especially with the event that happened, will talk about that at some point) I have fought with. With my emotional problems I grew up and struggled with a lot of insecurities that led me to never being able to achieve the goals in my life that I set for myself. All my life I would pray to God to take my insecurities away, but the prayer was never answered. Recently, I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia Depressive disorder. Basically, I heard a lot of voices that weren't actually there, but at the time, I thought the voices were real due to my depression. The voices told me all sorts of stuff, but the biggest things that the voices told me was the people closest to me were prophets, antichrists, Jezebels, Babylons, olive tree prophets (read the book of Revelation in the bible if you're confused, or just google that stuff with Revelation) and, the voices ironically told me that I was a key end time prophet. My Schizophrenia actually made me so paranoid that for a period of time, I thought the world revolved around me and my actions. Basically, I would find small things, and blow them up in my mind and attribute the event to whatever I did around the time of the event. Also, there were some coincidences that just happened at the worst possible times which drove me crazy with my paranoia. One example, when my depression was at its peak(battling all my demons, but still getting better at the same time), all of the cryptocurrencies in the world experienced major drops, and when I began to feel better, they continued to go down, just pure coincidence, but they began to even out as well. But that lead me to have this sense that if I did good in life, they would either go down or even out, and if I did bad in life, they would go up. The voices told me that the highest powers of evil in the world controlled the cryptocurrency market, and they were out to get me because I was an end time prophet. So then a really shitty coincidence happened with that. One day, I had lied to my mom about something(which I shouldn't have done, but to my defense was very sick and losing my mind), and then the very next day, all the cryptocurrencies experienced a major price increase(bitcoin went from 6500 to 7500 in a day). So of course I'm losing my mind thinking that the one currency that the world potentially can share (the bible talks about in the end times the world having one shared currency) revolves around my life just because of these voices and these bad coincidences. Then, the event that led me into wanting to become an antichrist happened. So, pretty much a tragedy happened around the exact same time that I was going crazy due to a, well, let's call it a "flaw" that I had on my facebook profile picture. Basically I had this awkward flaw on my facebook profile picture which, at first didn't bother me so much. But after about a week, my paranoia had it drive me crazy to change it. So I changed it, but all I really did was adjust the picture that was already there a little so that the flaw wasn't as apparent. But that in itself was kind of awkward given that I could of just changed the picture entirely, but that doesn't really matter since the tragedy happened the day before. But anyway, after changing the picture, I decided to lay down. I sleep for a good 4 hours. Then I wake up, and I go on facebook. I had this aunt, and she replied on the photo. Now, what this aunt said, is something that drove the paranoia of my schizophrenia over the edge. Now let's talk a little bit about me again. I mentioned earlier that my father was the most evil asshole ever of a father, but he really wasn't super terrible. He just, well one, never once told me that he loved me(fuck you asshole for that) and two, he did a lot of wrong things with the family in regards to me as I grew up, but because he was such a selfish fucking idiot, he could never see his wrong, so he just came across as a bad guy, hence the emotional problems and father issues. So back to the aunt, she mentioned him, and said that I look like him. Given my schizophrenia, the voices in my head(telling me all sorts of bad stuff about my father and I's relationship), my father issues, and the fact that the comment stayed up for hours without me taking it down, that drove me over the fucking wall. So then I literally said, I really hope nothing bad happened because of that. Then of course, as fate would have it, the same aunt shared the news of the tragedy on facebook. The thing is though, is that it actually happened a day before my aunt did what she did.My initial interpretation had me lose my mind. It's the most ridiculous bullshit ever because as I'm sure you guys can see the tragedy had absolutely nothing to do with my aunt and I, or with me going crazy over my awkward profile picture, it just happened. Here is the fucking psychotic part about the tragedy though. One, it happened at a place that shares the same name as my home address street, and two, the number of people affected overall was the same number as my birthday date. So I'm pretty much beyond fucking psychotic because of all of these coincidences. But, this is where my antichrist tendencies come in... I can't get over the tragedy. My psychotic self tells me if only I had done better on facebook, because it tells me that technically the person who caused the tragedy could have gone crazy over my flaw and caused it to happen, just because of the bad fucking timing, along with other things. That one bad thing caused me to lose my will to live, even if it had nothing to do with me. You guys know what I want more than to be an antichrist? I want my life to end. Since that event, I've been beyond suicidal, yet I'm too afraid to end my life by the means I have available because I'm afraid of failing to kill myself. It's the pain that gets me. Yet at the same time, I feel dead every day. The tragedy happened almost 6 months ago and to this day, it's the only thing my mind can think about. Living is a neverending nightmare now. And that brings me back to why I hate God so much now... he allowed me to be cursed like this, and from being suicidal, a lot of other bad things have happened. Before the event, I was a solid programmer, but the event took my ability to think away, and now I struggle with coding so much that I'm not even sure if I can get a job and perform as I should. I can't think efficiently anymore because of that so fuck God for that. Two, I almost became a felon. After going suicidal, I went homeless and my family didn't want to support me because they saw me as a failure when they just couldn't understand what I was going through. Being homeless I met the wrong people and got caught up with them(they stole checks) and I was just trying to survive(though I never actually stole the checks, I cashed them for them, and I never want to steal anyone's money again), and now I can become a felon. And three, these same people fucked up my good credit score. I went from a 720 to around 500 in just a couple of months. I just want to say fuck God because he allowed for everything to be taken away from my life when I was just battling with my emotions and spirit. Now the only peace I feel I can find is in death, because thinking about the tragedy 24/7 due to my psychotic self always telling me "what if" from the tragedy happening just from the technicality and timing. I hate God now. What breaks my heart is no matter what, I lose in the end. I live, I suffer and feel dead. I die, I break the hearts of those who care for me. But to be honest, I would rather be dead than to be alive, regardless of how my loved ones feel. Hell, the bible says that he's doomed for destruction, but that's just not fair. Now everyday I say to myself the story of antichrists are about the people that God utterly failed, which makes perfect sense why that would be the case to think that, because according to the bible, God doesn't fail, but he sure as did fucking fail with me, and that's blasphemous on God to say that. Like, fuck you God for making me have this curse like I could have been responsible for a tragedy that had nothing to do with me, yet no matter what, I can't shake the thought. I have a sense of guilt from a tragedy that I had nothing to do with. I grew up loving God through thick and thin, no matter what happened, but I'm dead spiritually now, and just want to die. Now I'm literally anti everything that talks good of God, and I just want my life to end already. I've been checked into mental hospitals, put on meds, seen multiple counselors and therapists, none of which have helped. I just... can't live in peace anymore, that was taken away from me. Well that's my story. In case you didn't read the whole thing. I got screwed with paranoia from schizophrenia depressive disorder, haven't been the same since, lost everything good that I had in life, blame God for it, now I'm scarred for life from getting screwed over in the most unique and fucked up way, which has led me to go beyond against God.

Bitcoin and Rationality, Part 2: Why Bitcoin is not like the lottery, and when to sell

April 15

See part 1

Eliezer Yudkowsky disagrees with Scott’s Crypto Autopsy post, writing:

The idea of “rationality” is that we can talk about general, abstract algorithms of cognition which tend to produce better or worse results. If there’s no general thinking pattern that produces a systematically better result, you were perfectly rational. If there’s no thinking pattern a human can realistically adopt that produces a better result, you were about as sane as a human gets. We don’t say, “Gosh, I sure do wish I’d bought the Mega Millions ticket for 01-04-14-17-40-04* yesterday.” We don’t say, “Rationalists should win the lottery.”

People who obtained Bitcoin early on and are sitting on a large windfall are often compared to lottery winners, suggesting that the role of luck far overpowers any possible skill. One should not beat themselves up over missing out on Bitcoin, because it’s not any different than winning the lottery.

I agree one should not beat themselves up, because dwelling on the past is a poor use of one’s time, but that is not because Bitcoin is like the lottery, which it isn’t. The most obvious evidence such a comparison is wrong is the fact there is so much Bitcoin regret but no lotto regret. Surely if they were the same thing, we would not see so much discussion about Bitcoin regret, just as we don’t see discussion about lotto regret. No one says “drat…I wish I picked 5,45,20,99 instead of 1,7,33,23.”

Scott is right. There was an opportunity to make effortless riches–that in theory anyone could have done, as easily as mining them when it was easy or buying them cheap. Getting rich with bitcoin merely required two actions that anyone could have done easily: become aware of the existence of Bitcoin, and then buy & hold it. There were pitfalls along the way: hacking of exchanges, lost keys, selling too soon, spending bitcoin instead of saving, etc.

Why are there so many posts and articles about Bitcoin regret but not lotto regret? Eli falsely equates the two when they are not the same. Acquiring Bitcoin early, unlike guessing numbers out of hundreds of millions of possibilities, as explained above, is something anyone could have conceivably done.Unlike the lotto, it didn’t require pure luck but rather a combination of awareness and action. Right there, in front of you, are the coins at $.1-$10 waiting to be bought. All you had to do was buy them. Same for Ethereum…$1 ether tokens…right there. Nowadays, unlike before 2016, there are too many coins and picking the next Ethereum or Bitcoin requires much more luck.

A 50% gain in an individual stock over a 1-year period is considered exceptional. Bitcoin blew this away by a magnitude of thousands. No individual stock (or any sort of investment opportunity) even remotely comes close to Bitcoin and other coins. Maybe Apple in 2004 or Netflix in 2004 is the closest.

But what about the objection that buying Bitcoin in 2009-2011 is like playing the lottery or donating to charity? There are two key distinctions: The odds of choosing a profitable investment are magnitudes higher than correct lotto numbers. Although the lotto pays more, the expected value is negative due the infinitesimal odds. With charity, your money is gone for good. You hope your donation is being allocated wisely, but you have no control over that. But by buying Bitcoin early on, one was able to both support Bitcoin while also having the option to sell the coins on an exchange or other market at any time for an agreed upon market price.

What would have been the harm though of throwing a few hundred dollars at Bitcoin out of curiosity. Unlike a used lotto ticket, the value does not just go away. Someone in 2011 or so could have observed the intellectually vibrant Bitcoin community and thought, “hmm…these people seem to have an interesting idea..I’ll throw a few hundred bucks their way and see what happens, and unlike donating to charity , it’s not like the money is gone. There is a market if I want to sell, and I’m supporting the cause, and some vendors actually accept Bitcoin too.”

Yes there a luck factor in terms of choosing winning investments, but the odds are not as bleak and random as lotto tickets though. In conclusions, the key distinction is that while choosing winning investments involves luck, unlike guessing correct numbers, Bitcoin in 2009-2011 was something that was much more feasible and did not require pure guesswork, but rather a combination of awareness (knowing that Bitcoin exists) and action (buying them or mining them).

The next question is, when to sell? ‘HODL’ is not rationally-optimal and is based on the belief that past price performance can predict the future, but obviously there is no such guarantee. The optimal time to sell is based on many variables: estimated remaining life expectancy, predicted annual returns assuming the after-tax proceeds from the Bitcoin sale are reinvested in index funds and or bonds, monthly draw-downs for living expenses, etc. If one has enough Bitcoin to never have to work again, given the above variables, then selling would probably be the most rational choice even if this means selling (in retrospect) too soon. Or if you have enough Bitcoin to buy real estate, which has smoother returns than Bitcoin and means not having to piss away money on rent. Although Bitcoin may have higher returns then real estate, real estate prices are much more stable and real estate has the added utility that is derived from either living in it or renting it out. However, it’s possible that one could derive income by selling calls option against a Bitcoin position.

In other instances, HODL may be rational. Let’s say, for example, you owe the IRS $200,000 but you also have $200,000 in Bitcoin (which you bought long time ago that the govt. is oblivious to). The ability of the IRS to deduct wages is limited, but they can easily seize windfalls. Because back taxes expire in 10 years, the rational choice may be to just hold until either the taxes expire or Bitcoin rises enough to pay the taxes and leave enough left over. Selling at $200,000 means having the IRS take it. Trying sell the Bitcoin but not report the income incurs the criminal risk of tax evasion, which is made worse if one already owes taxes.

But, again, despite all the media hype over Bitcoin riches, most people have less than a single Bitcoin, which they likely purchased between October-January near the top. In this case, given how much Bitcoin has already fallen, but also given Bitcoin’s historical tendency to recover, holding may be the best choice, but it requires a lot of patience.

But what if you really believe in Bitcoin, and that the U.S. dollar is doomed, etc.–why would you sell? Here’s a solution: Let’s assume you have enough profit to never have to work again. You can sell your Bitcoin, quit your job, and then use your newfound free time advance pro-Bitcoin causes.

Game Theory: Vin Armani on the machinations of Calvin Ayre

There's a fascinating discussion developing on twitter around a thread Vin Armani is writing in response to a number of Bitcoin Cash figures. The discussion is about the nature of the game that Calvin Ayre is playing. What's Bitcoin SV's motives? Armani thinks it's about taking control of Bitcoin Cash, no matter the costs. And they are willing to mine at a loss for 2 years, or destroy Bitcoin Cash's market value in the process.

Here are some highlights. Keep in mind that I'm skipping a lot and altering the order. Keen to hear people's thoughts.

1)

I figured out back in June that they were trying to split the chain for some reason. It's what made Craig block me (and abandon that particular plan). I didn't fully understand the strategy until now. Now it makes sense.

2)

Ignore Craig. Don't focus on Craig. That's what Calvin wants you to do. That's why he puts Craig out front, because Craig is a blowhard and half of what he says is nonsense. Craig is NOT a poke player.

3)

Craig is Calvin's employee. If you read the reports from the time, it was Calvin who pushed the whole "Craig is Satoshi" narrative. He funded the operation. If Calvin wanted Craig to stop behaving as he is, he could stop him with a single word.

4)

People don't understand what nChain is, but it helps to start with the fact that nChain does not.generste revenue. It is completely funded out.of Calvin's incredibly deep pockets.

4)

And you believe that Calvin is a desperate criminal? That's fine to believe, but I don't think that is an accurate reflection of reality. I have spent time with the man. He is highly intelligent, calm, and calculating.

5)

Now we are on the same page. And now you are on the same page as Calvin and Craig. Read the last sentence:

@CalvinAyre: "Training mind and body for the world’s first #Bitcoin hash war. With the minds of miners now opened to Miners Choice and Nakamoto Consensus, I now believe that hash war will be the new norm. Winning will now be defined by who can take long term pain in protection of your values"

6)

And now statements like this should be crystal clear in their meaning:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DrEytYPX0AEdBar.jpg

7)

I've been trying to explain this

November 15th isn't a BCH "hash war," it's a war for the hearts and minds of exchanges. If an exchange is only running nodes of a particular implementation (say ABC), depositing coins mined from SV post-split coinbase will be impossible. Chain unfollowed by exchanges = worthless

8)

They are willing to completely destroy the value of BCH to "win". They have said as much. This is about winning for Calvin. He doesn't need the money.

9)

We are playing Bitcoin. Bitcoin is an infinite game. You cannot win infinite games. The point of an infinite game is to keep the game going and keep yourself playing.

10)

[…] Poker is a finite game. Calvin is playing Poker, not Bitcoin.

11)

During this event, half of CoinGeek's hash will be running ABC. You can only attack the chain if you are running the software mining that chain. Right now, CoinGeek has 45-50% of total active BCH hash rate. Who knows how much they are planning to rent for battle.

12)

They are betting that it won't take "infinite money." It probably wouldn't takeore than a few weeks of a completely unreliable networkfor exchanges to indefinitely halt trading and the price to effectively crash to pennies. Their bet is the other side will capitulate before that

13)

Exchanges and applications will fatigue first and point exclusively at the SV chain because ABC will be a war zone.

14)

Those exchanges have a fiduciary duty to their depositors to be able to have reliable withdrawals and deposits. That requires pointing their services at nodes with a ledger that is not being constantly reorg'd.

15)

The power on the other side is fundamentally Bitmain. They are in the middle of a huge IPO and their valuation is based, in no small measure on their massive holdings of BCH. They cannot afford to fight & diminish the value of their holdings at this time. It could derail the IPO.

16)

The distributed community will prevail in the long term. That doesn't mean it will win every battle. It doesn't mean that BCH will survive this. Bitcoin will survive. Part of why the distributed community survives is because a network can die without killing Bitcoin.

imaginary_username 1)

[…] if this attack is successful, it'll redefine the entire crypto landscape and possibly destroy the value proposition of all coins, until another genius arises much later and come up with a better consensus and social system.

imaginary_username 2)

I'm not sure people in the industry quite realize how much is at stake here. The outcome will resonate far beyond BCH, even the laziest of BTC whales should be alarmed.

Vin Armani 17)

They can't see it. That's why I said only Calvin and Craig are even aware they are sitting at a poker table. Hard to win at poker if you don't know you are playing.

chopsticks.cash 1)

It's much more complicated game, because it's not a game. Much more is at stake here, we're talking about taking over a multi-billion ($8B-$200B) dollars real world industry with the outcome of becoming the next Bitmain. Things will not go smooth & be simple, it's geopolitics.

Vin Armani 18)

They don't want to be the next Bitmain. They want to be the next Rothschilds. After BCH, their next target will be BTC.

Edit: Updates added.

John McAfee’s forecasts and the future of Crypt-ON

Blockchain Summit in Malta, held on November 1 and 2, brought together many participants, including opinion leaders. As we already told earlier, Crypt-ON CEO Paul Andreev came to the summit in order to present the Crypt-ON project to a wide audience. But furthermore, he was able to converse with some potential investors, and with some bright trendsetters of a crypto industry. In particular, upon arrival, he accidentally ran into John McAfee — the man who for half a century excites the public and financial markets for his forecasts and shocking statements.

Not so long ago, a well-known programmer and entrepreneur said that soon BTC will reach quotes of $15 thousand per coin. Can we trust him? It’s up to you, but John is considered a man who knows how to analyze the situation in the world of cryptocurrencies and make the right conclusions.

By the way, this is not the first forecast of John McAfee regarding the bitcoin price increase. It is well known another his forecast, according to which he assures that in 2020 BTC will reach $1 million per coin. And John is very sure about it, well, you know. )

John McAfee believes in cryptocurrencies, writes a lot about it on his Twitter, and takes active steps to promote the digital asset. His entire estate blockchain enthusiast buys only for cryptocurrencies and encourages others to use it actively when making transactions.

After acquaintance between Paul Andreev and John McAfee, a dialogue was started during wherein they discussed the Crypt-ON project and its prospects. In informal conversation, John said he believes in the success of Crypt-ON because the financial world needs new platforms that can be used to cryptocurrency payments. We also believe in success and trust in that the words of McAfee will be prophetic for us, given the unique intuition that is helping him to correctly assess and predict the results of the most important events.

Stay in touch.

Help with Master Thesis

Hi guys, I need some help with my thesis. My thesis subject is Correlation between bitcoin and altcoins after bitcoin price shocks.

What I was planning to do was to do an event study, where instead of returns I would use correlations. To replace daily data I decided to use 90 day or 30 day rolling correlations to get daily data in order to set a time series. The only problem I had was that I had no clue what to put as a benchmark correlation.

I found a guy that can maybe do that for me but still not confident. Another guy in r/stata told me maybe it is better to do a sctructural break test, but to do that in stata i need to regress one variable on another and i dont know how i would do that. Makes sense with returns but not with correlations.

Any help or constructive feedback would be great.

ButtMEX CEO Doubles Down on Bear Call, Says BTC Could Fall to $2,000

http://www.thecoinrepublic.com/bitmex-ceo-doubles-down-on-bear-call-says-btc-could-fall-to-2000/

“How low can we go?” he asked. “A 75% fall from $9,152 takes us close to $2,000. $2,000 to $3,000 is my new sweet spot but don’t tell Michelle Lee just yet.”

What a difference a few months can make. It seems like a lifetime ago that Arthur Hayes, CEO of cryptocurrency derivatives platform BitMEX, predicted that the bitcoin price could reach $50,000 in 2018. In fact, it has been less than six months, though the events that have occurred during that interlude have been sufficient for Hayes to slash his short-term crypto forecast by more than 95 percent.
