The best working theory for why Coinbase was targeted was this tweet Coinbase made last week about Coinbase.com. A friend of a friend was hacked on Coinbase and he had not heard back from anyone on Coinbases’s support team for multiple days. As a plea for help, he asked people to help get the word out on Twitter. Coinbase did, it got RTed a bunch, and to my incredible naiveté, Coinbase had no idea Coinbase was essentially attaching a “Rob me too” sign to my back.It allows its users to create their own bitcoin wallets and start buying or selling bitcoins by connecting with their bank accounts. @Post Hoc Analytics This is perhaps the single most bizarre piece of disinformation that I have ever seen published on SA. I love SA and its group-sourced model, and I have been a contributor since 2016. However, a weakness of the SA model is that any random character can open a brand new account with SA, and then publish 1 hit-piece in an attempt to influence the market to the short side. This is exactly what you have done with the pseudonym that you are using. All readers want to reference the fact that this clueless hack just opened his account with SA, and this is the one and only "article" that he has published. Now that we know a lot about your personal motivations, let's move on to shredding your attempt at spreading FUD through the use of bogus disinformation: This so-called article is mostly a rambling stream of consciousness that unfortunately found a keyboard... and its way onto a very valuable platform called Seeking Alpha. Your effort to bash a very special, young, growth company is an inexcusable attempt to promote your self-serving short interest. I am a long/short trader that was, in fact, short SOS above $16 in the pre-market. Obviously, the short worked and I made a very nice profit. While I was short SOS, I began doing my due diligence on the company. Of course, the first impression back then was, "Chinese stock with many questions." All of those initial questions were easily answered by anyone who was willing to put in some basic research work. I learned SOS was legitimate. During my research I learned much more about SOS, and being old-school with 34 years of experience in the market I Googled Doug Brown and I called him on a Friday afternoon when he happened to answer his own phone. We spoke for 20 minutes. I had already covered my short and gone long shares of SOS by the time I wrote my first of two articles on SOS. Doug Brown, who sits on the board of directors at Transamerica Corporation, was a vice-chairman at Morgan Stanley, and has decades of venture capital experience in China was very informative during our conversation. After I spoke with Doug Brown, I immediately began adding to my initial purchase and I have built a significant position in SOS. For anyone who is unaware of who Doug Brown is, the man is semi-legendary on Wall Street and for his venture capital success in China. Doug is now the Chairman of the Board for SOS, Limited. I am also in contact with Russell Krauss who is vice-chairman of SOS's board, and has had a distinguished career that included his senior vice presidency at Hewlett-Packard. I was early on Netflix when they first began streaming on demand. I was a subscriber to the service when they used to mail out DVDs. The advent of streaming was clearly going to be big. I built a position in NFLX when the stock was single digits. Netflix was a wealth builder for many investors. I mention Netflix because SOS fits the same mold of pioneering new technology upon the base of a successful core business. SOS is so much more than just a successful crypto miner as this character hiding behind this bogus "article" would have you believe. The company is doing pioneering work on blockchain-related technology, and also "De-Fi" (decentralized finance) that the company has a brilliant, greenfield, global opportunity ahead of it that literally does not have a future ceiling within sight. SOS very much has the potential to become a wealth-building stock for current investors. Here is why: The character who somehow managed to sneak this hit-piece past SA editorial tries to mislead readers by intentionally choosing to leave out the triple digit revenue growth, and profitability, being delivered by the core business at SOS!! Please read that material statement of fact again, and consider who would choose to leave out an entire 60% of the company's existing, core revenue growth. This intentional omission is inexcusable. We all appreciate an honest bear thesis. That genuine type of honesty is helpful for bulls to understand the risks of any given stock. What this rascal has chosen to do is something far different. How can anyone assign a shred of credibility to this individual when he intentionally chooses to leave out the company's primary source of revenue that was pre-announced on 12/20/20 by the company as delivering triple-digit revenue growth YOY from 2019! This is not what we want to see on SA, or in our public markets. Intentionally leaving out the $49.5M in revenue from 2020 that was up by about 300% from 2019 is less than credible. Furthermore, $39M of this revenue came from 2H2020 as the new business model has begun ramping up. Better yet, the company gave guidance that they estimate forward revenue growth in 2021 from the core business alone, to increase by 286% to about $141M! You chose to leave ALL of this hugely important factual, material, tremendous revenue growth out of your dishonest hit-piece. That is not what we want on the SA platform. You also intentionally chose to omit the company's third stream of revenue that will be emerging from the cryptocurrency financial services division in 2021. You omit 100% of the revenues from the company's pre-announcement of 2020's triple digit growth. You omit more than 60% of the company's forward core revenues in 2021. You also omit the company's emerging 2021 revenues from the launch of the crypto financial services division. You fail to mention that the triple digit revenue growth in 2020 will likely increase to about 500% revenue growth in 2021. You fail to mention that the company is increasing profitability, has over $300M in cash (nearly $2.50 cash per share), and has zero debt! How many items of material information does a one-article-wonder in a new SA account have to omit before we all understand the type of individual that is hiding behind this bogus "article?" You manipulatively type the word "dilution" three times in succession, but fail to mention the success of the February recapitalization now has the company flush with cash in the amount of nearly $317M at the time the offering was completed. Do you think a small cap having over $300M in cash is a material piece of information? Most of the reasonable people who have experience in the stock market think $300M in cash at a small cap with zero debt is noteworthy. Are you certain that your meandering ramble was accurate about you having any experience at all on Wall Street? Because most actual Wall Street veterans think that triple digit revenue growth, profitability zero debt, and over $300M in cash is worth discussing in a "research article" on a stock. Do you think that SOS is going to park that $300M in a money market, or do you think it will be used to generate greater revenues? Are you aware that the timeline of SOS pre-announcing its 286% growth for 2021 was made 2 months prior to the event of raising $317M in February 2022? Did you consider it possible that SOS may be able to increase revenue growth with this war chest of cash? Did you know that SOS began receiving miners in February 2021 as well, when the 2021 guidance on revenue growth was made in December of 2020? Neither the capital raise of $300M, nor the launch of crypto mining operations is likely factored into the 2021 forward guidance for growth because neither of this hugely significant events had occurred at the time that the 2021 forward guidance was given. This didn't occur to you?... or you just chose to omit this material fact, as well? From your vast and valuable Wall Street experience, what exactly do you think that SOS is going to do with this $317M in cash, plus some number of additional millions in profits from operations? Here's a wild thought that may have escaped your veteran analytical abilities: how about, Buy More Miners! You go to great lengths to try and diminish the revenue generation that SOS is ramping up from the initial fleets of miners purchased. The revenues from these early miners at SOS will accrue to the top line for earnings reports just the same. Possibly, SOS is now awaiting the confirmation of a purchase for additional miners that will continue to increase the revenue ramp higher, even after the 3rd fleet of 5,600 miners is delivered ot SOS. 15,600 miners is not likely to be the end of crypto mining growth when the company has a $300M+ war chest to deploy. Maybe your veteran experience didn't think of this obvious point. SOS could possibly surpass the kind of successful performance that MARA and RIOT delivered in recent months. SOS could actually become a 10X bagger trade in the next 12 months based upon revenue growth. SOS could become a 20X bagger in the next 24 months, imho. Perhaps the most significant bullish catalyst of all for SOS may now be developing in its pioneering work on blockchain, and also in cryptocurrency financial services. The launch of this nascent division at SOS now has the potential to be game-changing for the entire global cryptocurrency industry. The potential for growth from this newest division at SOS could be tremendous. What's more, any veteran Wall Street investor understands the value of igniting the imagination of investors with a future growth "story stock." Netflix was that kind of stock when I bought it in single digits. My dad was an electrical engineer and I remember him buying the first Apple Mac in 1984 as an early adopter of technology. He loved the Mac so much, that he then bought the stock of Apple and passed those shares down to us as 2nd generation shareholders. Finding ideas that build wealth, and buying them early on in the single digits, is the key to empowering an investors to become financially independent in their lifetime. Some of us remember when fools were saying that computers were a fad. Apple shareholders knew better. I remember being a stockbroker for a NYSE-member firm when prospective clients would tell me, "The Internet is a fad." No Mr. Jones, sorry you didn't buy Amazon after its IPO when I called you, but I bought AMZN for my own account when it was only an online seller of books! Amazon being "the river of knowledge" that this bookseller sold to its customers. Shocker: the Internet turned out to be a really strong fad after all. There were chatrooms filled with bears who told me that Blockbuster Video was going to crush the upstart Netflix company. I disagreed and bought shares of NFLX in single digits and held them for years until they split 7 for 1. I posted articles on MARA and RIOT here on the SA platform, and in my Trader's Idea Flow marketplace service on SA when these stocks were single digits last year. I also posted an article calling for "HODL Bitcoin to $50,000" on 3/8/19 when BTC was $3,913 per coin. I stated my belief that BTC would reach $50K in 2020, so I was late by 2 months. Now I have built a significant position in SOS. We have watched the SOS bear thesis evolve from: SOS doesn't exist! ... to SOS has a funny IP address, and they all live in a hotel that a lady said had no office space! ... to the crypto miners don't exist! ... to now the bear thesis has devolved down to being, "I think the miners might be slow, so revenue growth might only be 300%, instead of 500%, because I won't tell you about 60% of the company's revenue growth!" Seriously, this has been the evolution of the bear thesis. Never in my 35 years on Wall Street have I heard of such bizarre insanity from the bear camp. Perhaps bears underestimate the new investors who have come to the market in the last year, or so. That is a serious mistake because I have watched many of these new investors learn faster than Neo in the Matrix movie. Plug these newer investors into that neural brain scan chair and watch them learn Kung-Fu, or weapons systems, or how to trade stocks! lol. Just like Neo and Trinity in the Matrix. The veterans and the newer traders all understand how triple digit revenue growth will cause an increasingly profitable small cap, with zero debt, that is stacking up BTC and ETH daily in their vault, while deploying over $300M in cash to build explosive growth for the foreseeable future... ... and while that along can take SOS to $60 per share in 2021, and $120 per share in 2022... the real wild card catalyst that could make this SOS stock become a wealth-builder, like NFLX, this is the pioneering work on De-Fi, blockchain, and crypto financial services that the team at SOS has just launched. If you want to see a small cap stock grow wings... then go ahead and show the market a new technology for the future of cryptocurrency that no other company has... do you want to hear the pea-brains of bears go, "Snap, Crackle, POP!" Then stay tuned and watch as SOS brings game-changing technology patents to market, as it delivers 500% revenue growth from its core business and crypto mining. This is going to be a long, and profitable ride for SOS bulls. I am wondering if this character who wrote this hit-piece article on SOS is one of those NFLX bears who thought Blockbuster Video was the winning choice when streaming first launched? Some jokers just never get it right, okay? GLTA and best wishes for continued success!

NFT Startup - building a team

***ADMIN PRE-APPROVED**\*

TLDR: I'm currently exploring an NFT-based SaaS startup (link) and looking for interesting individuals to speak with as detailed below - designers, marketers, engineers, investors, experts, influencers, etc.

Long story...

I recently posted in r/cryptodevs about my startup and thought I would also share it here for those interested. More here and here

I have been in crypto for a while (see about me below) and many more years in tech. I have been paying attention to NFTs recently. Some observations that seem obvious to me:

  1. NFTs are still overly complicated for the average maker
  2. NFTs are getting a bad rep already
  3. Gas fees are dumb. Yes, I know Eth upgrades and also some say high fees keep pumpers out. Still, this needs to re-visited for longevity.
  4. How publishers rent/use the art isn't well thought out. At the moment, it seems mostly based on speculative pricing

The future: Taking a page from Elon's book, I have asked myself, "what will the NFT market look like in the future?"

The solution: One thing seems inevitable; a drawing app with NFT tracking, minting, verification, wallet, time machine, art rental, and more, all baked in natively. Some drawing apps for reference here.

What if makers were "making in public"? What if every brushstroke was a blockchain entry (or held in an event stream)? What if art wasn't just priced solely on market demand but also on the quality of work, effort, time, social presence, previous work, and more? What if artists could branch files into multiple editions?

Done right, this could allow collaboration on art pieces, sharing drafts to build an auction queue, videos of progress, communities around art (twitch), branching (ala GitHub) of the art to create different editions, printing in real life (t-shirts, hats, canvas prints, etc), selling source (think colouring book) for other artists to innovate on top of, bidding using different tokens and coins, all through a single app.

What stage I'm at: Building a core team right now - primarily engineers, but also artists, makers, and ux designers.

Sound interesting? Great.

What I'm looking for...

  1. Tech co-founder. Ideally a full-stack senior Engineer with blockchain/NFT expertise that is a CTO now, or ready to take that title in the near future.
  2. App Designer and UX person that has built tablet apps before - Adobe or similar exposure is a plus.
  3. Marketer. I'm pretty adept myself but looking for the right leader to take over and setup/run.
  4. VC's or early investors that believe in this and want to get in early
  5. Influencer in the NFT or crypto space.
  6. Connector that can soft intro me to investors, VCs, or NFT entrepreneurs.
  7. NFT entrepreneurs that are actively building in the NFT space now.
  8. NFT artists or collectors that are doing NFT already and have a pulse on the future of NFTs.
  9. Anyone with NFT expertise or experience that can share insight or get onto a conversation to speak about this further.

Ideal customer: Makers that just want to make. Ones that want an easier way into the NFT space and believe that fair and transparent pricing is important.

Founding team compensation: at this stage, sweat equity but to bring this into reality, will take investment and forming a team. Typical "fiat" scenario: slicing pie, cliffs, vesting etc. Done via an ICO (my preference) this needs further discussion. Some combination of locked liquidity, maybe token burning, almost certainly dev wallets, etc. I don't have precise answers here and open to convos about it.

If you are in one of these categories I describe, or if this project interests you, please get in touch. I'm open to DMs and want to move this idea forward.

A little about me: 25+ years in the tech industry, launched an ALT coin in 2012 (no moon), launched a coin-minting agency in 2016 (no crypto expertise - abandoned), more here, ghost-written patents on video streaming and CDNs, a Product guy, consultant to other founders, a founder.

Currently, a Technical Product Manager for a startup. Want to know more? DM me or visit http://mayur.ca

A few suggestion about the bitcoin issue that I haven't seen being mentioned anywhere:

Right now most of the in-game economy revolves around the bitcoin and bitcoin farming, in case you are newto the game or just didn't know tarkov's bitcoin price is linked to IRL bitcoin's price and this makes it have a dynamic price, this is a really cool idea and I'm glad they tried to implement it but is clearly not working as expected so I wanted to put a few suggestion here.

  1. Delete the link to IRL price and link it to in-game events: The devs clearly don't want to throw away the dynamic price mechanic and I respect that BUT what if instead of it being linked to an IRL price that BSG can't control it was used as a tool for them to adjust the economy as needed? Imagine a future wipe where there is way too much money coming in for some reason (more players generating money, a new map with unbalanced loot...) BSG could then push and event of something like "Someone has hacked into Terra group's crypto wallet and that has caused the bitcoin and GP coin to crash in price. Effects of the event: Bitcoin will be worth 50k for an unkown time" or imagine they push scarcity too far and need to bring more money into the game because none can even progress they could make an event like "The conflict in the tarkov region has pushed the outside world economy to invest in bitcoin because its easier to trade through the blockade using crypto (idk if that would make sense its just a random example). Effects of the event: Bitcoin price has skyrocketed for a short period of time and its now worth 600k". This would both keep the dynamic price mechanic and give them a way to manipulate the economy of every wipe as needed to avoid something like the current one from ever happening again.
  2. Use bitcoin as special and very rare currency on top of being an item that can be converted to normal money: This one is more crazy and probably a mess to program but I'll suggest it anyway. Since they are planning to make traders be at a physical location inside the maps why not add something like black market outpost that have a random chance of spawning at the start of a raid at different places? I imagne this somehow being linked to Fence since he is the "shady underworld trading network guy", this trader would have a safe area surrounding it where you can't enter if you are in combat and can't perform ANY action while inside (no healing, no shooting, no reloading, no packing mags...), the trader would offer top tier items in exchange of bitcoin and GP coins and after being bought those items would be transfered directly into your stash via somthing like prapor's insurance, also if you buy something you would be able to use the "premium extract service" and extract directly from the trader to avoid people from trader camping. The items sold by this trader would be randomized every time it spawns and it would sell things like top tier armor/ammo, labs cards both entrance and colored kappa items that have the found in raid status and it could even sell items that are currently on a shortage like what happened with the fuel. Maybe even a service to extract your secure container alone in exchange for a few GP or something.

I don't know who is going to read all of this or even take the time to respond but thank you, I hope you have a really nice day/evening/night, and if you are a developer I hope you liked something about any of the 2 ideas I had or that it gave you an idea to adjust the bitcoin.

ransomware email

Attached below is the body of the email i received on march 2nd 2021. it was in spam i just saw it today.

should i be worried?

Greetings!

I have to share bad news with you. Approximately few months ago I have gained access to your devices, which you use for internet browsing. After that, I have started tracking your internet activities.

Here is the sequence of events: Some time ago I have purchased access to email accounts from hackers (nowadays, it is quite simple to purchase such thing online). Obviously, I have easily managed to log in to your email account (my primary email address).

One week later, I have already installed Trojan virus to Operating Systems of all the devices that you use to access your email. In fact, it was not really hard at all (since you were following the links from your inbox emails). All ingenious is simple. =)

This software provides me with access to all the controllers of your devices (e.g., your microphone, video camera and keyboard). I have downloaded all your information, data, photos, web browsing history to my servers. I have access to all your messengers, social networks, emails, chat history and contacts list. My virus continuously refreshes the signatures (it is driver-based), and hence remains invisible for antivirus software.

Likewise, I guess by now you understand why I have stayed undetected until this letter...

While gathering information about you, I have discovered that you are a big fan of adult websites. You really love visiting porn websites and watching exciting videos, while enduring an enormous amount of pleasure. Well, I have managed to record a number of your dirty scenes and montaged a few videos, which show the way you masturbate and reach orgasms.

If you have doubts, I can make a few clicks of my mouse and all your videos will be shared to your friends, colleagues and relatives. I have also no issue at all to make them available for public access. I guess, you really don't want that to happen, considering the specificity of the videos you like to watch, (you perfectly know what I mean) it will cause a true catastrophe for you.

Let's settle it this way: You transfer $1500 USD to me (in bitcoin equivalent according to the exchange rate at the moment of funds transfer), and once the transfer is received, I will delete all this dirty stuff right away. After that we will forget about each other. I also promise to deactivate and delete all the harmful software from your devices. Trust me, I keep my word.

This is a fair deal and the price is quite low, considering that I have been checking out your profile and traffic for some time by now. In case, if you don't know how to purchase and transfer the bitcoins - you can use any modern search engine.

Here is my bitcoin wallet: 1GGZpqXsqKWSRnjJ1SHFaE5VPkMHHsKToX

You have less than 48 hours from the moment you opened this email (precisely 2 days).

Things you need to avoid from doing: *Do not reply me (I have created this email inside your inbox and generated the return address). *Do not try to contact police and other security services. In addition, forget about telling this to you friends. If I discover that (as you can see, it is really not so hard, considering that I control all your systems) - your video will be shared to public right away. *Don't try to find me - it is absolutely pointless. All the cryptocurrency transactions are anonymous. *Don't try to reinstall the OS on your devices or throw them away. It is pointless as well, since all the videos have already been saved at remote servers.

Things you don't need to worry about: *That I won't be able to receive your funds transfer. - Don't worry, I will see it right away, once you complete the transfer, since I continuously track all your activities (my trojan virus has got a remote-control feature, something like TeamViewer). *That I will share your videos anyway after you complete the funds transfer. - Trust me, I have no point to continue creating troubles in your life. If I really wanted that, I would do it long time ago!

Everything will be done in a fair manner!

One more thing... Don't get caught in similar kind of situations anymore in future! My advice - keep changing all your passwords on a frequent basis

Understanding the Signs of the Looming Currency Crisis By David Morgan

The currency crisis is now coming to fruition.

The currency du jour, the U.S. dollar, which has held on to its title as the reserve currency of the world for decades, is losing its throne.

Loss of trust and confidence is a psychological event, not a monetary event, yet it is now affecting one of the most established representations of the contemporary financial system. What the U.S. treasury market is signaling The U.S. Treasury market was once considered the most sacrosanct sector of economic markets globally, capable of hedging against both inflation and deflation and protecting against any disaster, whether financial or otherwise.

Today, nation-states do not trust the treasury market like they once did and have lowered their exposure consequently. The recent news that 10-year treasury yields rose to 1.6%, and since bond prices move inversely, which means- downwards, represents the financial mechanics to maintain confidence in the credit systems.

However, when trust is lost, it is hard to regain.

📷In the bigger picture, treasury bonds reflect the dollar, and if trust in the dollar is low today, how can people be expected to trust the dollar 10 years into the future?

This loss of trust is playing out in the stock market. People are seeking alternative avenues of investment, putting their money in investment vehicles that they can trust more than chasing the yield curve. This is the basis that the Bitcoin phenomenon is grounded in.

With institutional investors recently embracing the world of cryptocurrencies, we are at a turning point: an indicator that money – big money – is letting uncertainty dictate where to park it. Investing money outside of the financial system at large appears to be the favorable choice.

The Great Silver Crisis & the Everything Bubble I have spoken at lengths about the incoming Great Silver Crisis. The price of silver may have backed off recently, but its growth from last year tells a story of its own.

As the most undervalued asset in the modern market, more frenzied buying is to be expected as fiat currencies continue to be printed to worthlessness. After years of manipulation, and renewed interest from the WallStreetSilver subreddit group, silver’s upward moves are long overdue.

The Great Silver Crisis is starting now, and there’s no slowing it down in the longer term.

These days, it appears, almost everything across the board is in a bubble – the “Everything Bubble,” overvaluing assets from a variety of sectors.

The only sector that isn’t experiencing this bubble is commodities. The commodity sector represents what people need – corn, wheat, rice, soybeans, and more – and these investments are now going up.

To use a metaphor, we can hobble along with an injured leg for a while, but we will one day reach a point where we cannot go any further, and it appears we are now nearing that point.

Every aspect of financial markets is signaling something, and the world needs to collectively stop and pay attention to the clues in front of us; that the Great Currency Debacle will soon be underway.

If the price of Bitcoin can be manipulated by MMs so easily, how is it a store of value?

With the CME options expiring this Friday, Bitcoin is taking another tumble, despite all of the institutional buy-in and so on, the market makers and option traders seem to have little difficulty in bringing the price of Bitcoin to where they want it to be.

If this is the case, and more people (especially retail) get into Bitcoin then the rewards will only increase for successfully manipulating retail and the price. If Bitcoin is just going to function like any stock on the stock market and be a toy at the whim of the whales, what is the case for it being a store of value?

With stocks, they generally go up on future growth/earnings expectations, but Bitcoin doesn't produce anything. Are people expecting that some future event will take control of Bitcoin out of the fins of the whales, or are people just investing because they think it will generally go up over time, and will go up more than any particular stock or basket of stocks will?

Dai UK

Buy Dai in the UK

Dai, what you need to know about Dai, how to trade with Dai? What is dai? How to buy Dai in the UK? Dai news. How to Trade Dai in the UK? Guide for beginners.

The Dai rate has risen by 0.08 you bored with the past 24 hours. the worth developments of the cryptocurrencies are shown in dollars on Binance. The interval is often adjusted manually. The displayed Dai course is updated automatically. Dai Represents A Decentralized Cryptocurrency The DAI coin may be a cryptocurrency that represents the equivalent of exactly 1 dollar. The term for this is often a stable coin. this suggests that the coin always features a stable value. a minimum of that is the goal of this coin. Other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin have their own value that increases or decreases in value compared to a traditional currency like US dollars or euros. In contrast, the DAI coin always holds its value at one dollar. Owners of the DAI coins don't get to constantly check out charts and determine the event of the worth. Technologically speaking, DAI runs on the blockchain. This coin therefore also represents a decentralized cryptocurrency.

you'll use Dai for smart contracts and thus perform transactions. you'll send the Dai coin very quickly and cheaply around the world. In contrast to transfers, you save tons of your time and money. Since the cryptocurrency runs decentrally on the blockchain, you do not get to trust any bank or other authority. Your coin is distributed decentrally and you'll use your wallet safely and securely. Crypto assets are very volatile, so this property in theory clearly speaks against a stable coin. this suggests that, as a rule, more has got to be deposited so as to accumulate a particular amount of Dai. The stored amount of Dai is analyzed and a corresponding amount of stable coins is issued. At now, the aforementioned over-collateralization comes into play and slightly fewer units of the Dai coin are paid out. As soon because the desired number of Dai cryptocurrency has been created, the coins are often paid out. A so-called stability fee is usually due. this will only be paid, whereby it's used and is then destroyed. this could reflect the worth, prevent spam within the network, and ensure a deliberate reduction within the total inventory. However, the stable coins aren't created by many miners, as is that the case with many cryptocurrencies, but is pre-build and is issued directly. However, many critics also see the steadiness fee as a threat. A significant rate of exchange fluctuations could cause this fee to be increased immensely in some cases so as to take care of stability and to catch up on the fluctuations.

How bitcoin “loans” are a bad deal. Think adversarially!

I know on reddit conventional wisdom is reinforced by downvoting any challenging content, so to those browsing r/bitcoin/new I want you to remember that downvote is for spam. This is not spam, even if you disagree with my opinions.

I’m trying to get people to HODL.

But its hard, everywhere you look there are scammers, and scammers lie.

Lately theres a lot of talk about bitcoin loans, but people are clearly not seeing the trick.

There are two types of loans—

TYPE ONE - you loan them bitcoin and you get paid interest.

With these loans you give up your keys so that they can then loan your bitcoin out to short sellers at a higher interest rate.

The only reason to borrow bitcoin is to sell it short. If you just want bitcoin, no need to borrow it, you can just buy it.

This is a bad deal because you are risking your ~%90 returns for %6 returns from people who are short bitcoin and facing bankruptcy. When the hedge fund goes bankrupt you have no recourse. You can sue BlockFi, but they are bankrupt and you probably aren’t even first in line.

THE SECOND TYPE - you loan out your bitcoin, and pay them interest, while getting half the value of your bitcoin as fiat.

You are loaning them bitcoin as much as they are loaning you fiat. But they want twice as much bitcoin as they will give you fiat— and they want to charge interest!

Think about that. Which is the safer currency? Which is more volatile? You’re accepting %100 of the volatility risk in exchange for getting a half the value in depreciating currency.

Meanwhile they stand posed to steal your bitcoin, with no recourse, in the event of a TEMPORARY dip!

If bitcoin drops temporarily you can get liquidated WITHOUT a chance to put up more collateral, at any time. This is in the unchained capital rules. I bet blockfi is the same. It happens with software so their claim of “independent third party holding a key” is a lie. The third party works for unchained.

But if it moons they can take their sweet time in covering their butts for what they owe you. With limitations of only doing it once a month, on their terms.

Notice how all of the terms are biased in favor of them? They charge you interest, give you half the value, will liquidate you completely at parity, and severely restrict your ability to collect when the market hoes against their short position (they are short bitcoin, because your bitcoin is a liability to them, while your debt is an asset.)

They have all the power and the rules are not symmetrical. And you are just supposed to trust them.

Part of the scam is they obscure what is really happening, they are pretending this is like a home loan when it suits them. But it isn’t. A home is an illiquid asset and foreclosure is a long process with the homeowners rights being protected. Here you have no rights if you are liquidated, and there is no long process they need to do to sell bitcoin on the market.

They are charging you interest to borrow your bitcoin, but the return on BTC is higher than fiat. Meanwhile they get your bitcoin for free and by being short bitcoin are by definition a worse credit risk than you.

THE SOLUTION:

A genuine solution would be to give you the full fiat value of your bitcoin, which is locked in multisig under strict terms preventing liquidation. During the term of the loan, no changes can be made, without regard to the bitcoin price unless both parties agree.

At the end of the loan, the fiat is paid back and the parties split the return, or losses, due to the Bitcoin price changes.

eg: you put up 10BTC when BTC is at $60k. It goes into a multisig lock with genuine people independent third party. They pay you $600k and the agreement us 50/50 split.

Then later, bitcoin is at $100k. You pay back the $600k in fiat, they pay you back 8 BTC. They profit 2 BTC. You are getting $800k in BTC back on your $600k loan.

If BTC declines, you both share in losses.

This is what a pro-bitcoin company would do. They earn BTC from the loan.

What unchained are doing is betting they will get to seize your bitcoin because of volatility, or make a risk free return on the carry trade of cantillion fiat if they don’t.

You take all the risk. They take none. And a single bad day that is quickly reversed— the kind of thing hedge funds like to cause happen, wipes you out.,

————-

For reference, because I know people aren’t aware of it:

If BTC drops %30– very common— you have 4 hours. I sire hope you aren’t asleep, and are awake, ready to send them BTC collateral!

If it drops %45, you are liquidated immediately, bo chance to send collateral. How is it multisig if they can liquidate immediately? It’s not. They just pretend like they are accountable.

From: https://unchained-capital.com/blog/ultimate-guide-bitcoin-loans/#What_happens_if_the_price_of_bitcoin_drops_during_the_loan

“If the price of bitcoin drops further and causes the loan to decrease to a CTP ratio of 135%, the time to respond to the margin call is accelerated. Borrowers then have 4 hours to either deposit additional bitcoin collateral or fund a partial repayment of the loan principal to improve the CTP ratio. Finally, in the most extreme bitcoin price drops, Unchained Capital must immediately liquidate loans at 110% CTP. This is the worst case scenario, but we must follow this rule without exception to ensure that Unchained can continue to lend to clients in the future.”

Should DeFi have a higher purpose?

We have talked about decentralization a lot of times, but today, let’s talk about why it is believed that the DeFi market is promising? Should the DeFi market have some higher purpose than simply generating profits?

Everyone who is observing the cryptosphere can’t but notice how rapidly it is developing in comparison with traditional economy with its principles that have stayed the same throughout thousands of years. In 2008, Bitcoin got in the game, and it was a landmark event. Today, 12 years later, BTC is no longer considered state-of-art. More advanced projects working on blockchain technology are emerging – fast, smart, reliable, and easy to use even for newbies. Let's see why the decentralized finance market is one of the most exciting areas today.

The goal of decentralized financial platforms is to completely overhaul the traditional system of monetary transactions in the most open and seamless manner possible. Many are fascinated by this area because of the ability to create and launch censorship-resistant products, as well as because of the interesting and promising technology that opens up a huge scope for experimentation.

DeFi is sometimes referred to as "LEGO money" for its modularity. By connecting different decentralized applications, you can create completely new projects, simultaneously increasing their user-friendliness, and maximizing your profit.

Why is DeFi innovation so important? Above all, decentralized finance thrives in settings without regulatory oversight. This ensures complete protection of personal life. One of the main challenges on the way to global blockchain development is the hostile environment of outdated laws and regulations, and some DeFi projects have already failed because of this.

AMPLIFY has a higher goal in DeFi, and aims to reform the modern industry: we are creating a system that will be transparent, reliable and easy to use. A system without bureaucracy and corruption, a system that is always the best option. If you, just like us, are fighting for a higher cause in DeFi — join our project and make your contribution to the future!

    • Hut 8 returned to full operation by the end of Fiscal 2020 and was profitable on all generations of bitcoin mining equipment
  • Working capital as at December 31, 2020 was $75.7 million, a 246% increase from the prior year working capital amount of $21.9 million.

If your game is found, say it!

How this Thread Works:

You come in and post as many details as possible about the game you're looking for, then wait until someone comes up with the answer. It's as simple as that. If no one has replied to your post, maybe it wasn't specific enough (see below), or maybe people are working on it, but don't have any further questions. Be patient.

How to maximize your chances of finding what you're looking for: CashApp Gold

Follow these simple guidelines:

1) As a general rule, be as much specific as you can, every little detail counts and may help us find what you're looking for.

2) Specify the time frame the game came out, at least the decade . Can't remember? Try thinking of other games you might remember playing around the same time as the one you are looking for.

3) Specify the system you played the game on (which console, PC, operating system). If you're not sure, telling us which systems you owned in your gaming history narrows the field down considerably. If it was a flash game that you played on some website, don't say "PC game", say "flash game" or "browser game".

4) List any distinctive qualities you can remember: what genre of game was it (FPS, RPG, Plat former...)? Was the game 2D or 3D? What did the characters and enemies look like? Was the protagonist a male or a female or multiple characters? Was it first person or third person? If third person, what was the camera angle: behind the character, from the side, top-down, isometric? Was the game really bloody? How many players in multiplayer? Post anything you can remember, even if it sounds insignificant.

Sticking to these ground rules will not only help others find the answer to your request, but ensures that the first answer given is more likely to be what you are looking for.
