Deribit Exchange Overview 2019

Based on Forex Brokerz Materials

Deribit Exchange Review 2019

Trading Accounts & Conditions

Deribit, which comes from the words “Derivative” and “Bitcoin”, is exactly as the name suggests a platform for trading cryptocurrency derivatives. Client accounts are only held in Bitcoin, while a reference index (taken from several exchanges) is used to determine the Bitcoin trading price.

Deribit Advantages

Company is transparent – Deribit is running since the summer of 2016 and being operated from the Netherlands. The team behind the project is not afraid to publicly show themselves and features a former options trader from the Amsterdam Exchange along with the tech professionals.

95% cold storage + 2FA – when it comes to security, Deribit applies two of the most popular features. Cold storage, means the coins are kept in hardware wallets, which can’t be accessed online and even if a hack occurs, nobody will be able to steal them. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a system, which connects your account and smartphone (via an app) to protect your funds, even if somebody learns your log-in credentials.

Futures and options available  – Deribit is not your typical cryptocurrency exchange, where one coin is traded for another. Derivatives are rather complicated financial instruments and the particular ones offered by this exchange may not be suitable for newcomers.

Futures are offered pretty much how you would expect, with monthly expirations. Options are European style (meaning they can’t be executed before expiration, unlike the US style ones) and short-selling is apparently allowed. Keep in mind the latter carries a theoretically unlimited risk.

Trading fees are competitive  – the costs of trading at this exchange are comparable with the offers from other similar trading platforms.

No deposit or withdrawal fees – this trading platform doesn’t charge users anything for making a payment to and from the exchange. As we mentioned in the beginning, all transfers are done in Bitcoin and the appropriate mining fees will obviously apply.

High leverage offered – with a maximum of 1:100, Deribit allows traders to gear up quite heavily. That being the case, we would advise against over-gearing, as the consequences of a margin call (liquidation) aren’t pleasant. The fees are slightly higher, but at least a portion of them goes to a compensation fund, used to cover the losses of bankrupt traders.

Decent platform, great charting – The platform at Deribit is solid. We see this as the best word to describe it, as there is nothing revolutionary here, but at least all of the features one would expect are there. The charting package provided is by TradingView, which is always seen as very nice.

Demo trading available – given the complicated nature of this product, it’s nice that Deribit offers a demo trading environment. That being said, it isn’t advertised clearly on the front page of the website and one must go to the FAQ section to learn about it.

Deribit Disadvantages

Lack of Regulation – most companies in the cryptocurrency space aren’t regulated and the key reason for that is the lack of a law under which they should register. That being said, Deribit is a derivatives exchange, based in the Netherlands, which means they supposed to be overseen by the Autoriteit Financielle Markten (AFM).

Complicated trading system – experienced futures/options traders will have no problem in understanding what is happening at Deribit. Someone who has just bought his first Bitcoin and hasn’t traded on traditional markets will have to read a lot (and probably watch a tutorial video), before feeling confident enough to start trading derivatives.

Only BTC related products – probably the biggest disadvantage of this derivatives exchange, when compared to other similar ones, which have also included Ethereum (ETH).

Accounts held in Bitcoin – while this feature will attract crypto enthusiasts, it may serve as a deterrent for old school traders (who prefer having a USD balance). The mere BTC volatility will cause fluctuations in the value of your investment, even if you don’t actively trade.

Conclusion

Deribit is a Dutch cryptocurrency derivatives trading platform. They provide Bitcoin futures and options, with up to 100x leverage. The costs of trading and actual interface seem competitive.

Dream Market Guide

Introduction

Dream Market is a feature rich escrow marketplace supporting the bitcoin currency and the tor network. The market has been operating for 5 years now and has been proven to be reliable and secure.

You might find products which are not available legally in your country. This is because the idea of this market place is to support the free market and does not follow local regulation restrictions. If you find a product which is not legal in your country you have to make up your mind for yourself if you should order the product and use it with caution, as sometimes this regulation restrictions do not come from nothing.

How do I make a new Dream Market account?

Please open the following invite link in Tor Browser to register a new account - http://lchudifyeqm4ldjj.onion

And then click the "Register" button on the upper right.

What are Dream Market's official links?

Main Market Link: http://lchudifyeqm4ldjj.onion

Choose one of the links above if the site is loading too slow.

Mirror Links:

Forum Link: tmskhzavkycdupbr.onion

The mirror links are to be used if the main site is unreachable or slow from DDoS attacks or unforeseen circumstances.

Buyers guideline

First of all all members are kindly asked to be honest regarding package delivery, product quality and shipping conditions. This helps maintaining a trusted network, which is a major basis in hidden web marketplaces. Scammers are not tolerated and are quickly identified as such. As a buyer you can look out for a "trusted vendor" label. Vendors with this label have an advanced trusted status, which means they have proven to be trustworthy and they have a long history of successful transactions and positive buyer relations. Vendors without the trusted vendor status are most likely trustworthy too, but they are either new on this market or they did not apply for a trusted vendor status on this site.

Secure your account

  • Do not use the same password on other sites, especially not other markets
  • Change your password regularly
  • Use a strong password
  • Verify you are not on a phishing site and you have never been on a phishing site. Else wise change your password after you created your account or after you logged in.

Bitcoin usage

In order to be able to do purchases you have to use tor and bitcoins to use this site. You will see your bitcoin deposit immediately after you have send bitcoins to your Dream Market wallet address. For safety reasons the final bitcoin deposit confirmation will take about 30 minutes in average (3 confirmations), this is due to the bitcoin internal workings.

Here is a good tutorial about how to use Bitcoins: Getting started with Bitcoin

Protect yourself with PGP

To protect yourself you should prefer secure encrypted messaging with PGP. Especially when you leave your postal address you are encouraged to encrypt those information. Dream Market supports automatic encryption of your messages. All vendors support PGP and have specified a public PGP key on their profile. If you encrypt messages using their public key you can be sure that only the vendor can read you message and your postal address is safe from leakage to any organization, including Dream Market.

There are guides and tutorials about how to use PGP which you can find online.

Linux is the most secure operating system of these 3 listed operating systems from above, because Microsoft and Apple cannot be fully trusted and whose source code is not open source.

Escrow protection

Escrow is a safe method to order online and is used almost everywhere. When you order a product with the escrow method then the money is not directly transferred to the vendor after the checkout process, but it is locked. When you receive the package you finalize the order from you shopping cart page. With this step the vendor is paid.

Order process

After your bitcoin deposit has been confirmed you can order the desired product if your balance is not too low. The vendor will receive the order information instantly, no further action is required. However the vendor needs to be online to view the new order.

While you have open orders which have not yet been finalized you are required to check your message box regularly in case the vendor has open questions.

After you have received the package you have to finalize the order. With this step the escrow is released and the vendor is paid. Please leave adequate feedback and rating stars when finalizing the order. You can update the feedback and rating stars after you have finalized. When leaving feedback for an order you should only give negative feedback after you have contacted the vendor to give him a chance of resolving the issues.

In case of problems

If you do not receive the order after an adequate time you have the possibility to open a dispute. Please contact the vendor first before you open a dispute. Please be honest when you open a dispute, do not open a dispute if you have received the package. You will find the dispute link from your order detail page, which is linked in your cart view.

Vendors guideline

Vendor application

Registration as vendor requires a deposit of vendor bond, which is paid back when the vendor revokes his vendor status. Application for vendor status can be done with this link.

Forbidden products and services

  • Assassinations or any other services which constitute doing harm to another.
  • Weapons of mass destruction: chemical, biological, explosives, etc.
  • Weapons.
  • Poisons.
  • Child pornography.
  • Live action snuff/hurt/murder audio/video/images.

Listing products

You can list products after you have applied for vendor status. Products are listed in the market after your vendor application has been approved. To add a product go to the "Manage Offers" page and click "Add offer". Product images should have the correct vendor name and date in it. One product can have multiple images.

Requesting FE (Finalize Early)

Asking customers for finalizing early is only allowed for verified vendors. Asking for finalize early should not be done without permission from support. Doing otherwise may result in suspended vendor account.

General vendor rules to comply with

  • No self-rating
  • Do not ask for FE for escrow offers
  • Do not have order too long in status accepted
  • No direct deals

Dream Market Official PGP Key

Save this key to verify mirror links and bitcoin deposit addresses belonging to Dream Market. All official announcements will be signed with this key. This key can be found at lchudifyeqm4ldjj.onion/about
