A Guide To The BCH Fork on November 15th - Be Informed! (x-post from /r/btc)

original thread:

https://np.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/9wthuv/a_guide_to_the_bch_fork_on_november_15th_be/

Let me start off by introducing myself and getting my bias out of the way up front. I'm a moderator of /r/ainbow, a community which frequently gets linked to /r/SubredditDrama. As a result, most of my examples will be drawn from that.

Secondly, I apologize for the wall of text. I'd appreciate it if you'd take the time to read it despite the density; where possible, I tried to break it up into bullet points for easier digestibility. Thanks!

What harms do meta-subreddit invasions cause?

There are two main issues here: voting and commenting.

On voting:

  • A meta-subreddit's users, when voting on a linked thread, may vote in ways opposite from the trend in the linked community.

  • Comments may be flipped from positive scores to negative, or vice-versa.

  • This makes it appear as though the linked community supports views it doesn't, and that it doesn't support views it does.

  • In turn, this makes the subreddit feel hostile to members of its own community.

  • Users who have good, positive, well-received-by-the-community things to say may be discouraged from contributing. Users who have bad, negative, poorly-received-by-the-community things to say may be encouraged.

  • Users may leave entirely.

  • Newcomers and outsiders get the wrong idea, again seeing the subreddit's community appearing to support things it doesn't.

  • Users who would have been positive members of the community may be turned away; users who would not may be likelier to stay and participate.

  • This leads to an increase in hostilities and tension and drama, which may cause more linking from meta-subreddits (e.g. /r/SubredditDrama, /r/ThePopcornStand, /r/RedditDrama, etc. may link because drama; /r/BestOf may link because look at someone putting someone else in their place; /r/WorstOf and /r/ShitRedditSays may link because look at someone saying something terrible (and in the case of SRS, look at "the community" upvoting it - although those votes may be from external subreddits)) - causing the cycle to perpetuate itself, and the subreddit to descend into nastiness over time.

  • Here is a very dramatic example of a meta-subreddit reversing the views of the community to which it linked. You can find more in /r/MetaLog, or in this comment (which has some overlap with the MetaLog submissions).

These effects are likelier to matter if your community is smaller - particularly if it's smaller than the linking subreddit, obviously, but also small enough to really have a community. For example, I don't think anyone takes seriously the idea of an /r/pics community that holds aggregate views; if you're a moderator of a default subreddit, you may not be concerned about the prospect of your community's views being misrepresented by the votes of outsiders. But if you moderate a smaller community, it may be a bigger deal for you. This is especially true if your community surrounds any sort of niche interest, anything that causes aggregate opinions to skew differently from those of reddit as a whole.

On commenting:

  • Often, users from a linking subreddit will post replies on linked comments threads.

  • This frequently derails discussions, particularly if these users receive upvotes from the meta-subreddit they came from.

  • Sometimes, this results in confusion - when people show up to try to get participants in the original thread to continue an argument that they had dropped some time prior.

  • Here is a list of users showing up to comment on an at-that-time month-old thread in /r/pics, linked by /r/SubredditDrama.

  • Meta-subreddit links can also, more importantly, lead to harassment of users.

  • Here's an example from /r/ainbow (original thread) where a bunch of people show up to spout nasty, violent shit at users they don't like, four days later.

  • Here's a really terrible example from /r/AmIUgly, where a user was told among other awful things to "take 15 steps back from your computer and fuck yourself in the face you whale bitch" and to "kill yourself". Note that that latter response was left by a user also called out in that /r/ainbow thread I mentioned - 4 months ago. So they've been using /r/SubredditDrama as a way to find people to be assholes to for at least that long.

  • The /r/pics example, above, also includes a few pretty nasty harassing comments.

  • I won't link this, but we had another user some time back in /r/ainbow who got dogpiled on by SRD users and ended up posting a comment implying heavily that they were going to kill themselves. Days went by, then weeks. We eventually heard from the user and were really glad to know that they were all right, but the harassment they received was honestly very serious, hurtful, and damaging to them.

The derailing-of-comments effect may or may not be something your community cares about. Again, to use /r/pics as an example, this may not really be a big deal there, as discussions tend to be large and meandering to begin with. If your subreddit is at all topical, however, this can definitely impact the quality of discussions for your users.

The harassment issue is something that impacts potentially any subreddit, and in fact I would argue that the larger your subreddit is, the greater the chance that someone will get hurt. This isn't something that's easily resolved by moderation, either, because you need to rely on someone reporting the comments - especially in a big subreddit.

A solution? Or at least an improvement?

A couple of months back, /u/KortoloB hit upon a pretty nice way to address this: a short bit of CSS that makes it so that anyone visiting a subreddit where it's installed via a link to http://np.reddit.com/r/SubredditName would be prevented from commenting, submitting, or voting. (Click the link and you'll see what it looks like, applied to normal CSS.) This is quick and easy to do, and carries virtually zero costs.

By "virtually zero costs", what I mean is this:

  • Subscribers to a subreddit using No Participation will never see a difference. NP is set up to show the normal CSS to subscribed users, regardless of whether or not they're visiting via an np.reddit.com link.

  • Non-subscribers coming to the subreddit via any other route will also never see a difference. This means that if threads showing up on /r/all and drawing in people from reddit at large is important to your subreddit and a way that you gain new members, for example, NP doesn't affect that. It only applies to subreddits linking to np.reddit.com/YourSubredditHere.

  • It doesn't affect your CSS in any other way. Visitors coming through np.reddit.com links will see all of your fancy custom CSS, if you have any.

  • It's easily reversible, by the simple expedient of removing the CSS if you decide you don't want it after all.

One argument I've seen raised about this is that it doesn't solve the problem, because it's easily circumventable in a couple of different ways. This is certainly true. But the perfect doesn't need to be the enemy of the good, and if this mitigates the problem, if this makes a community seem a little bit less hostile to its own members, if it prevents even just one instance of harassment that would have happened impulsively had the opportunity been easily there, then I'm in favor of it.

And the point has also been raised that this CSS makes it so that invading users have to take an extra action in order to do what they're going to do - an action that forces them to acknowledge directly that they're actively disrespecting the wishes of the community that they're visiting. That, too, might provide a bit of a deterrent effect.

But this requires that meta-subreddits choose to implement policies that mandate np.reddit.com links!

It does indeed. One way that that becomes likelier to happen is if more subreddits install NP, and let the meta-subreddits know that they would like them to respect their desire for non-interference. The more people that get on this bandwagon, the more influence it will have.

As a moderator of a meta-subreddit, why should I require np.reddit.com links?

  • Because you should respect the wishes of other subreddits' communities. Not every subreddit to which you link will install No Participation, and if they don't want to and don't mind your users voting and commenting, that's fine. But if they do mind, certainly you should respect that choice.

  • Because it will make your subreddit look good. Nobody likes a vote brigade, and implementing an np.reddit.com-links-only policy will show the rest of reddit's users that your subreddit is doing everything in its power to prevent its users from doing that.

  • Because you don't want other subreddits misrepresenting your community's views with their votes, and the more meta-subreddits that adopt the policy, the greater the pressure on others to do so as well.

  • Because reducing the amount of vote brigading on reddit would have the secondary effect of reducing the petty tribalism that's been infecting the site: the us-vs.-them they're-a-brigade-so-we-have-to-brigade-back mentality.

Current support for NoParticipation

This page shows a list of subreddits currently using the NoParticipation CSS, as well as subreddits suggesting or requiring that their users submit meta-posts as np.reddit.com links.

Edit: Final note, for moderators of meta-subreddits: A suggestion on using AutoModerator to help users out when submitting links that get removed, by linking them to a pre-filled-out form with the right URL

I've been interested in this fork which is happening this Friday. This fork is unique and to my knowledge the only coin to hard fork where there are two different sets of changes, not one set of changes that the miners disagree / agree on like was the case with the original bitcoin cash fork.

What are your thoughts on Bitcoin ABC and Bitcoin SV? it seems the community is quite split on this. SV proponents claim that this is sticking to Satoshi's ethos for bitcoin, it is strictly for payment, brings back some old BTC opcodes increases the potential block size to 128mb. While ABC, along with CTOR, will allow a new opcode OP_CHECKDATASIG which will permit the validation of messages from outside the blockchain. This will enable uses such as the use of oracles and cross-chain atomic contracts. This new opcode appears to be the most contentious issue surrounding ABC (are there more?)

There is quite a lot of drama around this, it will be an interesting event https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-cash-drama-battle-lines-drawn-ahead-of-scheduled-hard-fork

A Beginner’s Guide to Bitcoin Cash | BTC Wires

https://www.btcwires.com/block-o-pedia/a-beginners-guide-to-bitcoin-cash/

If one wanted to Kill Bitcoin for good and for once...

1) First, you wouldn't kill it straight away, that would look like an obvious tyranny. You would try to sabotage it and steer its direction towards a centralized system you fully control. This is precisely what happened to BTC - step one accomplished.

2) In the event that some people were smart and continued the open source Bitcoin project in parallel to the sabotaged original token, you would develop an ace to have up your sleeve. A trigger that could wreak havoc not only to that continuation of the Bitcoin project but to the whole cryptocurrency market. If you controlled mass media, you would then carry a (more intense) propaganda campaign that undermined the credibility of cryptocurrencies so that the 99% of the population that isn't involved yet would discard cryptocurrencies and label them as a scam.

3) In two days, when BCH forks and there's a possibility the attack fails if many miners start mining bitcoin ABC to defend from your attack, you would use your ace up your sleeve. You would finally make Tether crash and send the cryptocurrency prices to BTC 2k / BCH 150 levels so that defending the Bitcoin project (BCH) would be extremely expensive and unrealistic. You would then, with your accumulated hashpower you've bought with state money printed out of thin air by those with unlimited power, ensure you have a great percentage of the hash power of BCH come the fork.

We believe if this is really an operation to kill Bitcoin, Tether will crash within the next three days. At this point miners have to decide if they will do something out of ideology or stand aside and be spectators a second time, the first being BTC's fiasco with segwit and other shenanigans.

How to Buy Superior Coin (SUP) ?

Buying Superior Coin is very easy. If you want, you can use one of the MANY exchanges we are on: Southxchange, BTC-Alpha, Stockxchange and more exchanges will be added weekly!

Just follow a few SIMPLE steps – (that’s why we made this easy tutorial for you!)

It is separated into parts – just follow the one that matches your purchase method.

  • How to Buy Superior Coin with Coins.ph and Exchanges
  • Frequently Asked Questions about Superior Coin

How to Buy Superior Coin with Coins.ph and other Exchanges

It’s easy to buy Superior Coin with Bitcoin or Ethereum. If you do not have Bitcoin or Ethereum - then simply buy Bitcoin or Ethereum with your credit card. Then you simply use the Exchange to convert to #SUP Superior Coin.

Follow these steps:

  1. Buy Bitcoin at an exchange you like.
  2. Transfer Bitcoin to an exchange that supports Superior Coin currency.
  3. Finally, exchange Bitcoin to Superior Coin.

Please follow our step by step guide bellow to buy Superior Coin.

1. Create an Account on Coins.ph and Coinbase

To buy Bitcoin from Coinbase and Coins.ph – which you will exchange for Superior Coin (SUP) later – you have to create an account at Coinbase. Click this link here to create an account .

📷

Click ‘sign up‘ button and fill out the form. Enter your name (it has to be exactly the same as it’s written on your photo ID), email, password and location.

Coinbase is regulated by the US government and follows strict financial rules. As such, they have to verify your identity. It takes some time and effort, however, this makes Coinbase the reputation of one of the most trustworthy way to convert regular currency into cryptocurrency.

📷

Verify The Coinbase Account

Since Coinbase needs to verify your account, you have to give them your phone number, upload an image of your photo ID and verify your card (credit or debit) or back account. Only then will you be able to buy cryptocurrency.

If you use a card on Coinbase, your fees will be higher, but your purchases will be instant. It is cheaper to use bank transfers, but it is slow – it can take up to a week to get your coins.

When your payment details are verified, click ‘buy/sell’ button on the top menu.

Select ‘Ethereum’, and enter how much money you want to spend/how many coins you want to buy in the windows on the bottom of the page.

Once you have done that, click the ‘Buy‘ button.

📷

You will now have to confirm you purchase.

Do this by pressing the ‘Confirm Buy‘ button.

You now own some Ethereum. However, don’t close Coinbase yet – we’re going to use it later!

📷

2. Open An Account In An Exchange That Accepts Superior Coin (SUP)

Now that you have some Bitcoin or Ethereum, you to find a place to exchanged it for SUP.

Here is the recommended exchange where SUP is traded:

3. Transfer Bitcoin from Coins.ph OR Coinbase to Exchange

After you have opened an account at one of the exchanges from the above list, you should find your ETH wallet address.

The details of finding the address can be different depending on the website, but it’s usually easy and simple.

Make sure that you get your “deposit” or “receiver” address.

📷

Copy/write down your ETH wallet address for the next step. (The address (Your own unique address of course, not the address above!)

4. Transfer Ethereum To Your New Wallet

Transfer Ethereum from your Coinbase account or any other account/wallet where you keep your ETH to the receiver/deposit ETH address from the step #3.

5. Exchange Ethereum for SUP

When Ethereum appear in your new exchange account (it may take a few minutes), you are read to trade it for SUP in the new the exchange.

The process of trading depend on the exchange, but it’s largely similar across the platforms.

Generally, you will want to find the SUP/ETH trading pair and “place an order” to buy SUP with your ETH funds.

The order can work immediately – any delay is usually because the exchange is trying to find enough “sell” orders to fulfill your “buy” order.

Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of some amount of SUP!

Secure Superior Coin (SUP) Hardware Wallet:

Cryptocurrency Exchanges are always on hackers radar, so it’s always safer to keep your cryptocurrency in a wallet.

Best Way For Canadians To Buy BTC/Ether IMO

I know everyone hates shilling but as I know many of you are interested in investing in Crypto and in light of recent events with the recent CIBC ruling with QuadrigaCX, us Canadians have one less choice for buying bitcoins using a Canadian company.

That’s why I’m going to shill Shakepay. The reasons it’s better than then the second best alternative, Coinsquare, are as follows.

Coinsquare places low limits on the amount you can buy and gradually increases them as you use the platform more. Shakepay does not do this. You can buy as much or as little as you want right away.

Coinsquare places holds on your withdrawals for days, sometimes weeks, if you want to buy an alt on Binance, your bitcoin or ether will be stuck on Coinsquare for several days before you can do this. This could cost you serious gains (crypto pumps fast). Shakepay does not do this. Once you buy BTC or ETH you can withdraw and send it anywhere right away. This is great if you want to buy alts and it’s great if you want your private keys and want your bitcoin on your ledger or in your wallet right away (never trust exchanges with your coins)

Shakepay is fast and simple and you can use credit cards, wire transfer or interact e-transfer. To be fair, Coinsquare is simply to use as well and has the same funding options.

Both have great referral programs if you refer someone who deposits $100 or more on their first use.

Bitcoin Drifts Lower Under $6,400 as Altcoins Have Mixed Trading Session

Bitcoin drifted lower on Tuesday leading to a mixed trading session for altcoins. Most major cryptocurrencies by market capitalization are currently trading sideways, either trading up or down by a marginal percentage.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading down 0.5% at its current price of $6,370. It is beginning to gradually drift nearer to its historical region of support in the $6,200 region, which must be defended by bulls or else it runs the risk of falling to its year-to-date lows in the $5,800 region.

Altcoin Markets Post Mix Results Amidst Bitcoin Stability
Although Bitcoin has been gradually declining over the past couple of days, it has not led the altcoin markets, which have beared witnesses to incredibly mixed trading over the past weeks. The most volatile altcoins of this week have been primarily Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ripple (XRP), and Basic Attention Token (BAT).

Bitcoin Cash has been one of the most volatile major altcoins recently, mainly due to increased trading volume stemming from its upcoming hard fork event that is scheduled to occur on November 15th.

This event caused BCH’s price to see a massive price rise earlier this month, rising from lows of $413 to highs of $636 on the aggregated markets, a staggering 54% rise over a one-week period, from October 31st to November 7th.

Shakepay is the Best Way For Canadians To Buy BTC/Ether IMO

Coinsquare gives both parties a free $20 Shakepay gives both parties a free $30

Allvor will present its payment system at Bitconf Summer Edition

https://i.redd.it/8c0shvt9b6y11.png

Bitconf, one of the most traditional Bitcoin and crypto asset events in Brazil, will have a special edition on November 16th and 17th. Held in Fortaleza/CE, the event is the first of this size to happen in the Northeast addressing the crypto assets industry.

Among the guests and booths that will be at the event, Allvor will be present along with its innovative payment system. Allvor Pay is the first system of its kind to be created by using the Ripple’s blockchain (XRP). But the solution was designed to operate exclusively with real-time payments through the ALV token, developed by Allvor.

The payment on Allvor Pay is made 100% in blockchain. One of its main advantages is the speed of transactions: the waiting time to complete a purchase with the ALV token is a mere 4 seconds. This makes Allvor Pay an ideal system for small day-to-day transactions, such as the famous “purchase of a coffee.”

https://youtu.be/Hh2OC6b1Pt8

And that is exactly what the Bitconf participants will be able to do during the event. Allvor’s booth will feature an espresso machine, in which users can confirm the system’s actual speed. Besides the low waiting time, Allvor Pay also has no usage fee. In other words, it is an ideal system for those looking for an efficient, inexpensive payment solution via cryptocurrencies for various types of e-commerce.

Besides the possibility of buying an espresso with promptness and reliability, the company’s booth will also have smartphones with Ripple wallets (Toast Wallet) with the ALV token. Therefore, Bitconf participants can experience the Allvor Pay payment solution at first hand.

Created in 2013 with the aim of bringing together Bitcoin enthusiasts and cryptocurrencies, Bitconf is the oldest and one of the most traditional events on the topic in Brazil. Bitconf has already been the stage for the presentation of several innovative businesses in the national ecosystem, the exhibition for booths of various companies, and a large space to foster new ideas and partnerships.

What is so controversial about POW change?

I have been supporting POW change if honest miners fail to defend the honest chain. You guys are downvoting me, i get it is controversial, but i have not seen any good reason why besides "it is not bitcoin anymore" argument which don't think has value. What is your definition of bitcoin? Most POW SHA256 chain is BTC. This argument makes BTC more bitcoin which i don't think is right.

I think deep down we all want flippenning, since same algo will help flippenning event, this is the real reason everybody don't want it. I don't think we will ever get to reach flippenning with centralized mining.

A Guide To The BCH Fork on November 15th - Be Informed!

BCH November 15th Forking Guide

Intro

As you may have heard, on 15th November 2018 the Bitcoin Cash Blockchain will fork into at least two separate chains. We felt it our duty to provide information to the community on the situation that we hope will offer some clarity on this rather complex situation.

What Is A Fork?

A fork occurs when at least one group of miners decide to follow a separate set of rules from the current consensus protocol. Due to the way bitcoin is designed, these miners will then operate on a separate network from the current network. This was in fact how Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Cash was created from the original Bitcoin. Both changed the consensus rules in different ways that made them incompatible.

To make the current situation slightly more complex, there are to be two sets of miners that are changing the protocol rules away from the current protocol. It is not expected that the currently operating consensus rules will be in operation by any significant set of miners after November 15th. This means that after November 15th there will be two new sets of competing protocol rules. For simplicity these will be described as the BitcoinABC ruleset and the BitcoinSV ruleset (although other implementations such as Bitcoin Unlimited, bcash, bchd and bitprim all also have the ABC consensus ruleset).

This is quite a unique fork situation as one side (BitcoinSV) has indicated that they will be willing to attack their competition (BitcoinABC) using reorgs and doublespends to destabilise and reduce confidence in it.

BitcoinABC Fork Details

The main new features in the BitcoinABC that make it incompatible with the current protocol are CTOR and DSV.

To summarise:

CTOR (Canonical Transaction Ordering) is a technology that allows blocks to be transmitted in a much more efficient way. This means that as blocks become larger as the network gains more adoption, the hardware and bandwidth requirements on nodes is decreased. This reduces centralisation pressures and allows us to scale the network with fewer adverse effects. You can read more about DSV at this excellent ARTICLE by u/mengerian.

DSV (CheckDataSigVerify) is a technology that allows oracles directly on the Bitcoin blockchain. This means that the transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain can be dependent on actions that happen in the real world. For example you could bet on the weather tomorrow, or if a specific candidate wins an election, all directly on the blockchain. You can read more about CTOR in this excellent ARTICLE by u/markblundeberg.

BitcoinSV Fork Details

The main new features in the BitcoinABC that make it incompatible with the current protocol are an increase in the default block size limit to 128MB, removal of the 201 opcode limit within Bitcoin’s script system, and a new set of opcodes including; OP_MUL, OP_LSHIFT, OP_RSHIFT, OP_INVERT.

The increase in the default block size limit will in theory allow miners on the BitcoinSV ruleset to produce and propagate blocks up to 128MB in size. It may be the case that the current state of the network cannot handle, or at least sustain, 128MB blocks but this will allow miners to decide if they want to try and produce blocks over 32MB (the current protocol limit agreed upon by miners).

Removal of the opcode limit will allow miners to make transactions using scripts of any length. This means that more complex scripts and harder to process can be developed.

The new opcodes allow new operations to happen within the Bitcoin scripting system.

What Are Your Options?

When the fork happens your coins will become available on both chains. This is because both chains will share the same blockchain history up until the point the fork occurs. Things are unfortunately not quite as simple as that (when are they ever in cryptoland?). Transactions that would be valid on both chains will occur on both chains. Your transactions will be considered valid on both chains as long as you do not use any of the exclusive features from either ruleset, or use inputs from transactions that are considered invalid on one of the chains. You can alternatively split your coins so that you can control them exclusively on each chain.

So what should you do? We won’t recommend what you should do with your own money, and this is not financial advice, but here are some of your options.

Do Nothing and HODL

The simplest option is to keep your Bitcoin Cash in a wallet you control and wait for things to blow over. Make sure you have the private keys and or the seed written down in at least one place to be able to recover your funds if needed. As long as you do not move your funds they will be available on both chains after the fork.

Risks - Price volatility. Like always the price can go up and down any amount. Only risk what you can afford to lose.

Sell BCH for Fiat

Another simple option is to sell your BCH for fiat. This means moving your Bitcoin Cash to an exchange such as Bitstamp.net, Kraken.com or Coinbase, and then selling them for a fiat currency. You may also consider then withdrawing your funds to your bank account for extra security (exchanges have been known to implode with everyone’s funds every now and again).

Risk - If the BCH price increase while you hold fiat your BCH holdings will be less if and when you buy back. Exchanges and banks can confiscate your money if they like (that why love Bitcoin remember).

Split Your Coins and HODL

If you want to be ready for anything then you can split your coins after the fork occurs. This means that you will be able to control your coins exclusively on each chain. You will still need to make sure you have your wallet(s) backed up and have the private keys and seeds written down somewhere.

To split your coins you can use a tool developed on Electron Cash HERE. This is unfortunately not a simple tool to use right now. Make sure to read the tips and advice given in that thread.

Risk - This has the same risks as simply HODLing your BCH. You should also be aware that some services have decided to refuse to use split coins during the fork. This means that if you send them split coins they will not allow you to spend them. These services include: Yours.org, moneybutton, HandCash, CentBee and CoinText.

Split Your Coins and Sell Some

If you interested in gambling on which chain will be more successful you can split your coins using the method above, and can then send coins from either chain to an exchange that allows buying and selling of specific sides of the chain. Most exchanges have decided to close deposits and withdrawals of BCH and even trading of BCH until the outcome of the forks have become more clear. After the fork occurs exchanges will likely make announcements about whether which chain they will support (potentially both), and you will then be able to trade each fork as separate cryptocurrencies.

Risks - By selling your coins on one of the chains you will no longer be invested in that side of the fork. In the case that one side of the fork ceases to exist and you are only holding coins on that side, you will have lost that money.

Summary

It is unfortunate that Bitcoin Cash has to go through a fork without unanimous consensus on the new protocol rules. The unique situation with this fork in particular has presented some interesting new issues, and it is likely that we as a community will learn a lot from it.

We hope that in similar situations in the future that the major entities in the industry, including miners, developers, businesses and community leaders can come together to find compromise that keeps the ecosystem stable and focused on adoption.

If you have further questions about this or just want to discuss the fork in general, we encourage you to join our chat at bitcoincashers.org/chat and join the conversation.

Press about us: Blockchain Life 2018: 5000 Guests, 80 Speakers, 10 Winners

The Blockchain Life 2018 forum ended in St. Petersburg, Russia.

For two days (November 7–8), over 5,000 delegates at the Expoforum discussed the future of blockchain, cryptocurrencies and technologies, shared methods and experience in building successful projects, trading and mining. The forum also identified the winners of the Blockchain Life Awards 2018!

The main goal of the event was to unite the global crypto-community, to teach the audience to invest wisely in the blockchain industry and to help those who want to create their own project in this area. No doubts that the goal has been achieved — interesting speakers, excellent networking, a large-scale exhibition and a cool atmosphere made it work just right.

The forum was attended by leading Asian foundations, crypto traders, founders of ICO projects, businessmen, blockchain developers and miners, representatives from the Okex, Huobi and Kraken exchanges, as well as, creators and top managers of key cryptocurrencies.

Roger Ver from Bitcoin.com and blockchain.info were among the speakers. His speech took place via Skype. Roger spoke about how cryptocurrency will change the world. We agree with him that cryptocurrencies are the future and today they are changing the world economy. Among the speakers was Martin Kuvandzhiev from Bitcoin Gold, Vyacheslav Bredikhin from Bitmain, Vit Jedlichka from Liberland and other international speakers of the industry. In total more than 70 speeches and presentations in two halls over two days.

The session devoted to ICO projects deserves special attention: the experts noted that the ICO market is now “in a deplorable state” and start-ups are to blame for this. Most of the projects are terrible, and the blockchain technology is used in them not in a proper way. “You shouldn’t think how to screw a token into a stubbing stall and raise money on it — you need to do something really worthwhile,” said Sergey Chmel, senior partner of MATRIX CIB, in his speech. He also noted that the ICO will not die — instead, they “will regroup and will move on, taking something from the venture capital industry.”

The exhibition was attended by projects from various fields: stock exchanges, exchangers, manufacturers of mining equipment, ICO and blockchain projects. The project LH Crypto, in February of this year, completed a token sale with a result of $ 11,000,000, presented their main product — crypto-broker LH-Crypto.Their guests were entertained by the heroes of Crypto Clowns show.

On the second day of the forum, the winners of the Blockchain Life Awards 2018 were awarded. The Best Cryptocurrency Media nomination was taken by Forklog (by the way, Anatoly Kaplan,The founder of Forklog also gave a speech on the topic “Blockchain industry: from sandbox to global economy”). The award in the nomination “Best centralized cryptocurrency exchange” received two projects — EXMO and KuCoi. Cointraffic became the best advertising network for promoting crypto projects. The nomination “The Best Russian Blockchain Project” also turned out to be two winners: XDNA and Goldjob. CRYPTO-A became the best agency for promoting ICO. The winners in the Best ICO Advisor nominations were also determined as well — Nikolay Shkilev and The Best ICO Legal Adviser — Dmitry Machikhin.

”We did not expect to receive an award. Although, we told all our clients that we were participating in the prize competition and asked them to vote for us. So out victor for us is a honest confirmation that our clients are satisfied by our work! “– noted CEO of Crypto-A, Alena Narinyani.

Not without incidents — during the online voting, a cyber attack happened on the nomination “The most promising ICO”. As a result, the organizers had to cancel the nomination in order to maintain objectivity.

We took part in the nomination “The Most Promising ICO” and were very upset when our nomination was canceled. Nevertheless, the InnovaMinex project has become one of the most promising projects according to Blockchain Life 2018 and we want to thank everyone who supported us, ”said Ekaterina Bublik, Marketing Adviser of Innovaminex.

The two days large-scale forum ended an after party at the restaurant “Tsin”, with Dmitry Grachev, the famous comedian and the resident of the Comedy Club.

It is easy to get emotional about Craig Wright. Not too sensible to let your disgust and horror guide your decision making. BCH is bigger than Coingeek, bigger than NChain and Craig. Let’s follow Nakamoto Consensus and work together to make Bitcoin Cash the best money ever!

  • Technical analysis, trading ideas & strategies
  • General questions about altcoins

Thread guidelines:

  • All regular rules for this subreddit apply, except for number 2. This, and only this, thread is exempt from the requirement that all discussion must relate to bitcoin trading.
  • This is for high quality discussion of altcoins. All shilling or obvious pumping/dumping behavior will result in an immediate one day ban. This is your only warning.
  • No discussion about specific ICOs. Established coins only.

If you're not sure what kind of discussion belongs in this thread, here are some example posts. News, TA, and sentiment analysis are great, too.
