Copyright Registrations Do Not Recognize Craig Wright as Satoshi Nakamoto

https://i.redd.it/44nmd6u43wz21.png

Copyright enlistments for the Bitcoin white paper and the bitcoin (BTC) source code by the United States Copyright Office don't imply that Australian PC researcher Craig Wright is perceived as Satoshi Nakamoto by the legislature, the Financial Times provided details regarding May 22.

The advancement pursues news that Wright documented copyright enlistments for the Bitcoin white paper composed under the alias Nakamoto. A news discharge from May 21 asserts that U.S. authorities got affirmation that Wright is in fact Satoshi Nakamoto, however the news has been met with distrust from the crypto network.

A representative for Wright told the Financial Times that "the enrollments issued by the U.S. Copyright Office perceive Wright as the creator — under the nom de plume Nakamoto — of both the white paper and code," asserting the Office to be the main government office that perceives Wright as the maker of the main computerized money.

Be that as it may, the case has no premise in all actuality as when the Copyright Office gets an application for enrollment, it doesn't examine reality of any announcement made in that application, nor the characters of individuals enlisting for copyright. The Office told the Financial Times:

"For a situation where a work is enrolled under a pen name, Copyright Office does not examine whether there is a provable association between the inquirer and the pseudonymous creator."

Also, the enrolling the source code does not secure the protected innovation of bitcoin as a creation.

The Copyright Office can drop an enrollment application in the event that it is sure that exhibited data is a bogus case and the individual professing to be the creator of a work is in undeniable reality not who they guarantee they are.

As of late, an embarrassment around bitcoin SV (BSV) — the altcoin sponsored by Wright — put Wright at the focal point of universal consideration when digital currency trades started delisting the coin in the midst of Wright's battle to deanonymize one of his faultfinders, purported Hodlonaut.

Hodlonaut focused on the Australian specialist with hostile tweets, calling him "a miserable and pitiful con artist. Obviously rationally sick," and supposedly took an interest in making the #CraigWrightIsAFraud hashtag.

What Is USDQ and Q DAO? Complete Guide from PLATINUM ENGINEERING

What Is USDQ and Q DAO? Complete Guide from PLATINUM ENGINEERING

Mihaill Kudryashev, a Front-end engineer at PLATINUM ENGINEERING, wrote this article while seeking to raise awareness about USDQ, a stablecoin his team is helping to develop. Among the biggest benefits, USDQ brings full decentralization and predictive capabilities. Soon there will be even more fully backed stable coins: JPYQ, KRWQ, SGDQ, HKDQ, CNYQ, RUBQ under Q DAO governance. Slowly learning more about blockchains, Mihail has been effective in transforming vague ideas into effective front-end solutions with strong UI/UX. Within his team, he’s helped many crypto startups to make their voice heard throughout the emerging global crypto community. In this article, Mihail looks into the key benefits that users win from using USDQ.

USDQ brings stability, with no need to engage legacy finance

How do USDQ and Q DAO coins work within the ecosystem?

USDQ is decentralized stablecoin, which uses algorithms to offer higher stability and reliability. It's backed by Bitcoin (another top 10 cryptocurrencies will be added in future). The elegant system places all transactions on the blockchain and empower users to execute cross-border and disintermediated transactions at any time and from any place. It's pegged to the value of USD, i.e. 1 USDQ always equals 1 USD. The ecosystem's design borrows heavily from fractional banking systems. In the nutshell, USDQ is a customer-facing stablecoin and Q DAO is an internal "operational" coin; together they help create a stabilized safe haven for anybody who's looking to hedge against rampant volatility of crypto markets.

Introduction to Q DAO and USDQ

There's a number of factors that prevent mass adoption of cryptocurrencies. The biggest factor among this is high volatility, seen in crypto. Bitcoin, the oldest and most popular coin, has been fluctuating with prices oscillating between 20,000 and 3,500 in just one year of 2018. No potential adopters, be it merchants or individuals, would be happy with suffering huge losses that such drastic changes can entail. And it's this high volatility that USDQ is set to address, bringing stability and convenience.

Tether (USDT) is probably the most well-known and widely used stablecoin. However, it has been embroiled in various controversies from the very start with no end to these in sight. Although the system is supposed to assure the 1-to-1 fiat reserves for all Tether units created, the website content has been recently changed to say that the issuer views not only cash in the bank, but also various loans to other companies, as the reserves. Both regulators and crypto enthusiasts have voiced concerns, which might bode ill for Tether in the months to come.

USDQ works differently. Here, the stablecoin is pegged to US Dollar and backed by Bitcoin (+top 10 other cryptocurrencies in future). It's similar to lending operations and fractional banking systems. Overcollateralization is used to mitigate potential unexpected changes in assets prices.

The USDQ ecosystem is highly transparent as all of the operations are recorded on the immutable Ethereum blockchain, open to review by anybody and at any time. The smart contracts bring automation to business processes and eliminate the need for middlemen to assure trust and prevent abuse.

In order to determine how viable USDQ will be in the future, we need to discuss the two tokens used within the ecosystem.

Review of Q DAO and USDQ

Q DAO is governance token, entitles holders to participate in voting for new decisions. Importantly, holders are interested seeing Q DAO's prices growing and thus they are incentivized to thoroughly review proposals and deliver the best decisions. In this way, Q DAO imbues higher democracy and decentralization, on which many current crypto projects lag.

In addition, all the fees, charged for the system use, can be paid only in Q DAO.

In order to create USDQ, a user needs to transfer Bitcoins into a Collateralized Debt Contract (CDC). This will automatically trigger the smart contract to generate USDQ and send it to the user. In order to change USDQ back into crypto assets, users need to pay back the amount of USDQ they input and the fees, chargeable in Q DAO Tokens. Whenever this is done, USDQ is automatically destroyed and the Collateralized Debt Сontract is closed.

In addition by getting USDQ directly at the company's website, users can trade in USDQ on secondary markets. It's as easy as trading Bitcoin or Ethereum or any other coin.

Traders can store both coins in their wallets, assuring higher security. The stability and ease of use for USDQ open up wide ranges of adoption for both businesses and end consumers alike.

What makes USDQ stand apart

The main difference between projects like Tether and USDQ is complete transparency and openness in the inner workings of USDQ. All the data is easily accessible on the blockchain and there are no rumors or controversies as to the reserves held by the team, potential conflicts of interest or hidden agendas.

The CDС mechanics ensure that it's impossible to create fake units of USDQ, as smart contract can be activated only after an amount in Bitcoins is input. The development is being done completely transparent. Interested parties can review the smart contract, presented on the website. The audits and peer reviews were carried out to assure the highest quality of smart contract. The website-based scanner enables to track all the data about each and every transaction, including time, amount and collateral size.

In addition, should a "black swan" event occur, i.e. a drastic fall in Bitcoin prices, Q DAO is sold on secondary markets. Bitcoin value is liquidated to make a USDQ buyback procedure, which prevents any losses on the part of the system's users.

Additionally, PLATINUM BLOCKCHAIN ENGINEERING which is helping to develop the ecosystem is working hard to build up long-term partnerships with stakeholders in the crypto industry. The more liaisons the team wins, the better outlook for USDQ will be.

Why do we need stablecoins anyway?

Different assets produce varying levels of volatility in prices, when compared to each other. For instance, the purchasing capacity of US dollar has reduced over time with 1 USD from 1913 equaling 24 USD today (2019). This happens due to inflation 3-10% per year.

In comparison, Bitcoin almost tripled in value in 2018 and then fell down by as much. Thus, fiat currencies are more stable, when compared to cryptocurrencies.

Stablecoins don't attempt to fight inflation. Instead, coins like Tether and USDQ peg themselves to US dollar, bringing relatively higher stability to crypto trading communities. One of the most famous transactions with Bitcoin is when a pizza was bought with Bitcoin back in 2010. At that time, the pizza ended up costing just a couple of bucks, but today it costs millions. Although stablecoins continue to be impacted by inflation and exchange rates that come to them from fiats they peg themselves to, they are nowhere near the mindboggingly high volatility of crypto assets.

One of the major use cases for stablecoins like USDQ is concluding long-term contracts. For instance, when using a popular decentralized platform Augur, users can bet on the price of oil in 5-10 years. The problem is that you won't only have to account for future changes in oil prices, but also for prices in Ethereum or Bitcoin that you use to make the bet. USDQ solves this problem elegantly and without much trouble. Using it, users don't have to consider future changes in Bitcoin prices and they can concentrate on what they've come here for - betting on future events. And they don’t have to worry about technical details as it’s easy to purchase USDQ and use for trader’s purposes.

Betting industry is just one of the many use cases, where USDQ can bring benefits. It can be successfully used for any transactions done across borders and long-term financial contracts. Virtually, USDQ opens up new opportunities any time value is exchanged and volatility has a negative effect.

Bottom Line

USDQ has a high potential to democratise transactions between companies and individuals globally, bringing fast execution and low volatility. The "PLATINUM BLOCKCHAIN ENGINEERING" is working hard to enable and improve various features in order to help USDQ to take leading positions on crypto markets.

Here are the main ecosystem’s features:

  • The system uses two tokens (USDQ and Q DAO) in order to tackle volatility, while staying on the blockchain.
  • USDQ is always pegged to USD 1:1. In order to come into line with as many national exchanges as possible and enter other markets, the company will issue other tokens pegged to the national currencies. For example, there will be CNYQ (for Chinese Yuan), KRWQ (for South Korean Won), as well as JPYQ (for Japanese Yen) at the early stage.
  • USDQ brings higher decentralization, driving this important vector in the development of crypto industry.
  • Q DAO holders are interested in seeing the coin grow and succeed, thus they will work hard to review and pick the best proposals for the system to move forward.

Taking into account these beneficial features, there's no question that USDQ will become a viable alternative to other fiat-backed cryptocurrencies like TUSD, USDT, GUSD, USDC etc. Competing with other stablecoins, both already operating and just being developed, PLATINUM ENGINEERING will roll out the new features and underlying tech solutions that'll help propel the coin.

USDQ is decentralized stablecoin, which uses algorithms to offer higher stability and reliability. Fully on-chain and monitored by high-speed AI robots, ecosystem offers reliable defences against malicious acts and attacks. First run in line of fiat-pegs, USDQ is brought by PLATINUM ENGINEERING Team, looking to edge together innovative solutions in collateralization, using stabilizing mechanisms for high-endurance stablecoins. Soon there will be even more fully backed stable coins: JPYQ, KRWQ, SGDQ, HKDQ, CNYQ, RUBQ under USDQ brand. Fully anonymous, USDQ breaks limits out of this legacy world.

PLATINUM ENGINEERING values your opinion and welcomes you to continue the conversation on Telegram or Facebook, where the company’s development team is always ready to help you find solutions to pressing issues. Working on projects like USDQ, Michael has gained an invaluable suite of skills and insights, enabling to roll out high-usability UI/UX with tight deadlines and lack of clear expectations as to user behaviors. The team has successfully produced white-label wallets, stand-alone fundraising platforms, as well as integrated fundraising ecosystems. Any startup looking for a reliable partner to help execute a success-story will win from a free consultation with the PLATINUM ENGINEERING team about potential solutions to their needs and issues.

Should we publish a guide on registering as satoshi using the trademark system, to undermine Criags recent attempt? If we are all satoshi, then no one is.

We can put together a specific guide for everyone to follow outlining how to apply and attempt to register as part of the satoshi nakamoto handle from the bitcoin whitepaper.

The goal of this is, if 100s of people register as satoshi, then Criags registration has no true weight or merit.

If there are copyright lawyers or any lawyer looking to read over our guide and give fixes/advice would be happy to chat.

Should we do this?

Proposals for picking a winner and sending notifications

Hi!

I just found this sub and love the concept. Unfortunately, it seems that the implementation is a little...complex...which has bred some distrust looking through the comments. And that's fair, users shouldn't need to download and look through source code to know that their money is going to the right person. It could be done a lot simpler, more transparently, and in a way that anyone with a web browser can verify in under a minute.

Also, because the notification emails are sent out manually, there have been times users missed a drawing. It happens! I'm not condemning anyone for getting caught up with life. But if the system were automated, as most email notifications are, both users and the mods would benefit. In fact, the whole system could be automated. Mods would benefit from having only to monitor the subreddit for inappropriate posts, and users would benefit from consistent, fair, transparent drawings, even in the event that the mods get too busy to host drawings.

Proposals

Firstly, the algorithm for picking the winner. How many of you have read the description and left scratching your head? I'm going to be honest, I've got a decent background with programming, web development, and blockchain, and it still took me a while to grasp. I propose 3 easy steps:

  1. Use an online post of some sort that has a unique ID, and pick the first one that was posted after the drawing closes. Blockchain IDs were picked because those are basically impossible to manipulate, and that's fine.
  2. The ID will probably contain letters. Convert each letter to a number, leaving you with a plain decimal number.
  3. Find the modulus (remainder after division) of that number with the number of entries. This gives you a number between 0 and the number of entries (and thus the winner)

Example

So for example, suppose 350 people enter into a drawing. The drawing closes, and the first bitcoin block mined afterwards is this one. It's ID is "0000000000000000001679bf81ee62f1f6cad59a1ed76dd49636d174f39a2634". You can verify that it was the first block mined after the drawing ended by clicking on the link to see when the previous block was mined. Take that ID and punch it into this website (it simply converts letters to their numeric equivalent based on their position in the alphabet). You get "000000000000000000167902068105056206106603010459011050476040449636041740639012634". Then just go to any calculator and punch in "167902068105056206106603010459011050476040449636041740639012634 % 350" to get the remainder of dividing that longass number with 350. The result is 234. And there's your winner. In my winner post, I'd have something like:

Congratulations to /u/conscious_dream! They won Drawing #69.

Contestants: 350
First blockchain: 0000000000000000001679bf81ee62f1f6cad59a1ed76dd49636d174f39a2634
Decimal form: 167902068105056206106603010459011050476040449636041740639012634
167902068105056206106603010459011050476040449636041740639012634 % 350 = 234

For more details on how this drawing was chosen, please click this link that would actually be here in implementation :p

Personally, I feel like that's much simpler than linking people to a dropbox filled with python code that runs needlessly complex algorithms. I also think the whole system should be automated. A bot could:

  1. Create the entry thread monthly.
  2. Email all subscribers
  3. Lock the thread after 24 hours.
  4. Wait for the next block to be mined.
  5. Determine the winner, notify them, and create the winner thread.

The how behind that is for another post :p But I imagine it wouldn't take more than 100 lines of code and simplify everyone's lives as well as ensure that drawings happen consistently, everyone gets notified consistently, and mods are free to take a week or year off without affecting the subreddit if they so choose.

Community opinion is needed. Onchain meetups board service - is there a need? description below

Onchain meetups board concept.

Short: onchain analogue of meetups/eventbrite for Bitcoin Cash events worldwide.

Motivation:

Bitcoin Cash adoption is growing, amount of meetups, workshops, new merchants starting to accept

BCH around the world is increasing day by day. To be up-to-date, to empower further adoption

and community growth, a BCH-centric events board might be needed.

How it could help:

- a single place for all BCH related events

- native donations/sponsorship to support events organizers (buy some beverages, pizza etc)

- native BCH tokens support (attendance management for ex.)

- censorship resistance and pseudonymity (if someone experienced problems somewhere)

- could be other points I missed...

events body could be stored in op_return

event body draft specs:

LOKAD_PREFIX (2 bytes): "EV"

TYPE: (1 byte): ["m": meetup, "o": opening, "c": conference, "w":workshop]

DATE: (4 bytes) (unix timestamp 32 bit integer)

LATITUDE && LONGITUDE: (16 bytes) (single precision floating point)

TITLE: (1-55 bytes) (string)

EVENT-INFO : (bitcoinfiles uri) (65 byte or null)

TRANSPARENCY

The lack of transparency causes a lack of trust, further reducing the willingness for people to donate to charity funds in general. we will partner with charity organization around the world and reach out to those who needs financial support for healthcare, education, water, shelter and good care.

Is Bitcoin Too Early For Mainstream Adoption? Study Suggests So

College students at the University of Colorado Boulder were asked if they would rather have one dollar or one Bitcoin. Initially, the majority opted to take the dollar, but that was before the host disclosed how much one Bitcoin was worth.

Even then, they were uncertain about accepting the Bitcoin due to ignorance over how to store and use it. This goes to show, even though research indicates cryptocurrencies to be a millennial trend, there’s still a long way to go before it becomes mainstream.

One Dollar Or One Bitcoin?

Little known YouTube channel, Capital Creators, posed this question to a bunch of college students in the US mid-west. They intended to find out which of the two students preferred as a freebie.

While most had heard of Bitcoin, the near-unanimous tendency to choose one dollar, over one Bitcoin, came from a lack of awareness. Not only on the value of Bitcoin, but also on the workings of holding and using it.

Near the start of the video (0:33), two male participants both wanted a dollar over the Bitcoin. When the host asked why one of the pair said:

“That’s almost enough for Reese’s [from the vending machine.]”

As the video continued, and other students had their say, the host uncovered a series of misconceptions over Bitcoin. This included a man in a cave in Antarctica controls Bitcoin; there is nowhere to spend it; it’s illiquid and more telling; the dollar’s value is stable, and is, therefore, the better option.

Barriers To Entry

A common theme throughout the video was a lack of knowledge acting as a barrier to entry. When asked, what’s the main hurdle in wanting to accept the Bitcoin? One student said:

“I don’t think I really understand it well enough to know anything about it. Like, I hear about it, but it kind of feels like it’s one of those things other people know about, or value more.”

From this, it’s clear that mainstream acceptance is limited by a lack of education on cryptocurrencies through conventional channels. Equally, this could be due to a lack of motivation from ordinary people to self teach. Either way, the outcome is the same, and reaching the masses remains an onerous task.

Crypto conferences need to find a way to attract beginners into their events.

Currently, the barriers to entry and comfortability are too high due to price factors and more.

I imagine a free ticket model and some educational content could be a valuable option.

Any other ideas?

— Nye (@MrMichaelNye) March 2, 2019

Not only that, but the technical nature of cryptocurrency turns people off. For example, talk of proof of stake versus proof of work is the realm of geeks. And wanting to find out more takes time, which most people don’t have. This issue isn’t helped by the mysterious reputation of Bitcoin, whose founder remains unknown.

No Mass Appeal, No Mass Adoption

While much is said about what needs to happen for mass adoption to take place. Such as using stable coins to deal with volatility, incorporating its use as a payment method at major retailers, or even improving UIs. No-one is talking about the most fundamental thing. And that is, where is a final product that has mass appeal, and doesn’t require in-depth knowledge of crypto to use it? Until that comes along, cryptocurrency will remain the preserve of geeks like us.

It’s Blockchain week in NYC. This is the cryptonerds Senior Prom.

Nick Szabo’s “God protocol whitepaper” from 1997 is finally solved – main net launch May 30th

The God Protocol

In 1997, Nick Szabo, a technological pioneer who coined the term “smart contracts,” wrote an article (https://nakamotoinstitute.org/the-god-protocols/#selection-3.0-7.297) in which he describes, what he refers to as, the “God Protocol.” He states:

“Imagine the ideal protocol. It would have the most trustworthy third party imaginable — a deity who is on everybody’s side. All the parties would send their inputs to God. God would reliably determine the results and return the outputs. God being the ultimate in confessional discretion, no party would learn anything more about the other parties’ inputs than they could learn from their own inputs and the output.” The whole idea centered around replacing middleman intermediaries, such as trusted third parties, with a trustless third party protocol that was able to receive inputs, processes them, and deliver outputs, all in a completely secure and unbiased manner. This trustless third party would be automated and under the control of no one, yet still deliver perfect results.

Problem 1: how to avoid double spend. Answer: community consensus model where the people verifying transaction are incentivized to do the right thing -> bitcoin.

Problem 2: ok, but now we want to do more sophisticated transactions with business logic, e.g. a bond that pays out on a set schedule. Answer: community consensus model where the people verify the business logic is followed correctly -> ethereum

Problem 3: ok, but for almost any REAL world contract, we need external data, e.g. what was the rainfall on that date, did the package get delivered, what was the price of a barrel of west texas intermediate crude on a October 1. Answer community consensus model for verifying external data where those validating have skin in the game (via staking collateral) -> chainlink

This was the short version why Chainlink will become one of the most important blockchain projects.

  1. Think of a blockchain as computer that is not connected to internet.
  2. Think of Ethereum as an Operation System.
  3. Think of Chainlink as a connection to the internet.

“That computer can still enhance efficiency for workflows and business processes but this is greatly limited due to its inability to fetch and retrieve external data. Just like a computer without wifi or a smartphone without 4g. In theory Ethereum is supposed to enable users to do a lot of things…but without an internet connection, this is once again greatly limited to a very pitiful state of minor improvements in workflow efficiencies.” “Chainlink’s purpose is to serve as the internet connection for blockchain, which will finally enable blockchain to reach its full potential. Smartphones did not gain traction until 3g and 4g data networks were spread and available throughout the whole world enabling every single participants to connect to the internet, the same thing is about to happen in the blockchain world.” Little expanded version can be found here, in “Idiot proof guide to blockchain, Ethereum, Bitcoin and Chainlink”:

What Is USDQ and Q DAO? Complete Guide from PLATINUM ENGINEERING. Clean
