SEC Questions, Topic

I got a lot of negative feedback from simply reporting that the SEC wanted answers to questions about regulating bitcoin in the mainstream market from My Post Yesterday. I am not here to argue about that, I have my opinions and you have yours. I think we can all agree that we do want bitcoin to be a mainstream commodity, and I think the SEC is a step in the right direction, you may disagree. I'm simply reporting the questions and hoping to bring in a communal response for those that agree that this could lead to a good thing for all of us and want to contribute thoughtfully.

I think a lot of these questions are ones we should be able to answer anyways, some I'm not sure I quite understand to begin with which is why I'm bringing this here, to a public forum.

/u/Fiach_Dubh spearheaded a similar project when This Very Thing hit Canada, and I think this generated a positive community response from r/BitcoinCA which led to This being sent as a response. They brought up a possibility of bringing this to r/BitcoinUSA but they only have 174 members and I think a US interest in bitcoin regulation might pique the interest of everyone, but I may be being presumably too "american" for my own good on that point. Regardless, here are the questions, let's discuss.

Questions as follows:

  1. What are commenters’ views on whether the Exchange has entered into a surveillance-sharing agreement with a regulated market of significant size related to bitcoin? What are commenters’ views of the Exchange’s assertion that the trading volume in bitcoin futures makes the market for bitcoin futures a regulated market of significant size related to bitcoin? What are commenters’ views on whether there is a reasonable likelihood that a person attempting to manipulate the Shares would also have to trade in the bitcoin futures market to manipulate the Shares? What are commenters’ views on whether it is likely that trading in the Shares would be the predominant influence on prices in the bitcoin futures market?
  2. What are commenters’ views on the relationship between the bitcoin futures market and the bitcoin spot market? For example, what is the relative size of these markets, and where does bitcoin price formation occur? Does the market, spot or futures, in which price formation occurs affect commenters’ analysis of whether it is reasonably likely that someone attempting to manipulate the Shares would have to trade in the bitcoin futures market, or that trading in the Shares would be the predominant influence on prices in the bitcoin futures market? To what extent, if at all, do recent developments in the bitcoin futures market—namely, the cessation of new bitcoin futures contract trading on the Chicago Futures Exchange—affect commenters’ analysis of these questions?
  3. What are commenters’ views on whether the trading relationship between the market for bitcoin futures contracts and the proposed Trust, which would hold physical bitcoins, would be similar to, or different from, the relationship between the market for freight futures contracts and the Breakwave Dry Bulk Shipping ETF (cited by the Exchange in the Notice),20 which directly holds futures contracts traded on that market? What are commenters’ views on how these similarities or differences might affect an analysis of whether it is reasonably likely that someone attempting to manipulate the Shares would have to trade in the bitcoin futures market, or that trading in the Shares would be the predominant influence on prices in the bitcoin futures market?
  4. What are commenters’ views on the Trust’s proposal to value its bitcoin holdings based on an index—the MVBTCO—that is calculated through a proprietary, non-public methodology that uses the privately reported bid/ask spreads of an unidentified set of U.S.-based market-makers in the OTC marketplace, which, the Exchange says, has no formal structure and no open-outcry meeting place? Is the use of a non-public, proprietary index to value holdings based on OTC activity an appropriate means to calculate the NAV of an exchange-traded product (“ETP”)? What are commenters’ views on whether determining NAV based on the index value at 4:00 p.m. E.T. might, or might not, create an opportunity for manipulation of the NAV or of the Shares? What are commenters’ views on the assertion in the Notice that, according to the Sponsor, the MVBTCO’s methodology reduces the possibility of an attempt to manipulate the price of bitcoin as reflected by the MVBTCO? What are commenters’ views on the Sponsor’s assertion, as described by the Exchange in the Notice, that “the OTC desks have a better measure of the market than any exchange-specific reference price, whether individually or indexed across multiple exchanges”
  5. What are commenters’ views on the Exchange’s representation that it will have in place a comprehensive surveillance sharing agreement with each of the OTC platforms that constitute the MVBTCO prior to the Shares listing on the Exchange? What are commenters’ views on the Exchange’s assertion that the regulated nature of each of the OTC platforms that make up the MVBTCO, the notional volume of trading and liquidity available on these platforms, the principal-to-principal nature of these platforms, and comprehensive surveillance sharing agreements with each of the OTC platforms (in addition to the Exchange’s standard surveillance procedures) are sufficient to prevent fraudulent and manipulative acts and practices in the Shares? What are commenters’ views on the extent to which each of these OTC platforms is regulated? What are commenters’ views on the extent to which each of these OTC platforms can, or does, conduct surveillance of bitcoin trading activity?
  6. What are commenters’ views on the size, liquidity, transparency, number and nature of market participants, and price discovery in the OTC market for bitcoin, both on an absolute basis and relative to the bitcoin spot market as a whole? What are commenters’ views on whether the volume of U.S. dollar trading of bitcoin—which excludes bitcoin trading against other sovereign currencies or digital assets—is a meaningful or appropriate measure of bitcoin market volume?
  7. The Exchange states that the Trust does not intend to report its OTC trading. What are commenters’ views on how the Trust’s unreported OTC trades may affect the calculation of the Trust’s NAV and the ability of market makers to engage in arbitrage?
  8. What are commenters’ views on each of the set of alternative means by which the Trust proposes to value its holdings in the event that the Sponsor determines that the MVBTCO, or another alternate pricing mechanism, has failed, is unavailable, or is deemed unreliable? What are commenters’ views on whether any of these pricing mechanisms, primary or alternate, would be affected by, or resistant to, manipulative activity in bitcoin markets?
  9. What are commenters’ views on the assertion by the Exchange that the dissemination of information on the Trust’s website, along with quotations for and last-sale prices of transactions in the Shares and the intra-day indicative value (or “IIV”) and NAV of the Trust, will help to reduce the ability of market participants to manipulate the bitcoin market or the price of the Shares and that the Trust’s arbitrage mechanism will facilitate the correction of price discrepancies in bitcoin and the Shares? What are commenters’ views on whether the liquidity of the OTC bitcoin market is sufficient to support efficient arbitrage between the price of the Shares and the spot price of bitcoin?
  10. The Exchange represents that it has entered into a comprehensive surveillancesharing agreement with the Gemini Exchange and is working to establish similar agreements with other bitcoin venues. What are commenters’ views on whether the Gemini Exchange is a regulated market of significant size? What are commenters’ views on whether there is a reasonable likelihood that a person attempting to manipulate the proposed ETP would also have to trade on the Gemini Exchange? What are commenters’ views on whether trading in the proposed ETP would be the predominant influence on prices in the Gemini Exchange? What are commenters’ views on whether the Exchange could enter into surveillance-sharing agreements with regulated spot markets of significant size related to bitcoin?
  11. What are commenters’ views of the Exchange’s assertions that bitcoin is arguably less susceptible to manipulation than other commodities that underlie ETPs; that the geographically diverse and continuous nature of bitcoin trading makes it difficult and prohibitively costly to manipulate the price of bitcoin; that trading on inside information regarding bitcoin is unlikely; that the fragmentation across bitcoin markets, the relatively slow speed of transactions, and the capital necessary to maintain a significant presence on each trading platform make manipulation of bitcoin prices through continuous trading activity unlikely; that manipulation of the price on any single venue would require manipulation of the global bitcoin price to be effective; that a substantial OTC bitcoin market provides liquidity and shockabsorbing capacity; that bitcoin’s “24/7/365 nature”21 provides constant arbitrage opportunities across all trading venues; and that it is unlikely that any one actor could obtain a dominant market share?
  12. What are commenters’ views of the Exchange’s assertions that transacting in the Shares will be geared toward more sophisticated institutional investors and will be costprohibitive for smaller retail investors? What are commenters’ views regarding whether brokerdealers are likely to offer fractional shares in the Trust to retail investors, permitting retail investment with a smaller financial commitment? What are commenters’ views of the Exchange’s assertions that the Sponsor believes that demand from new, larger investors accessing bitcoin through investment in the Shares will broaden the investor base in bitcoin, which could further reduce the possibility of collusion among market participants to manipulate the bitcoin market, in light of the possibility that broker-dealers may offer fractional shares to their customers?
  13. What are commenters’ views on the Exchange’s assertion that a minimum of 100 Shares outstanding at the time of commencement of trading will be sufficient to provide adequate market liquidity? What are commenters’ views on whether the 100-share minimum would affect the arbitrage mechanism? What are commenters’ views on the Exchange’s assertion that, even though the Trust would not comply with the minimum number of shares outstanding required by Exchange rules, the policy concerns underlying that requirement would be otherwise mitigated in the case of the Trust, because the lower number of Shares is merely a function of the price of the Shares and will have no effect on the creation and redemption process or on arbitrage?
  14. What are commenters’ views of whether the Trust’s proposed insurance coverage would affect trading in the Shares or in the underlying bitcoins? What are commenters’ views regarding the Trust’s proposed security, control, and insurance measures?

Wednesday, May 22nd

Today are:

  • Bitcoin Pizza Day

Bitcoin Pizza Day, celebrated mainly by the cryptocurrency community, takes place on the anniversary of the date that cryptocurrency was used to pay for goods for the first time. On May 18, 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz of Florida posted in the bitcointalk.org forum, offering 10,000 bitcoins in exchange for some pizza, saying in part, "I'll pay 10,000 bitcoins for a couple of pizzas.. like maybe 2 large ones so I have some left over for the next day." His call was answered, and on May 22, 2010, he posted, "I just want to report that I successfully traded 10,000 bitcoins for pizza." A teenager named Jeremy Sturdivant, who went by "jercos" on the forum, sent Hanyecz two Papa John's pizzas, and received 10,000 bitcoins in return. Sturdivant paid about $25 for the pizza, and the 10,000 bitcoins he received became valued at $41.

The events of the first Bitcoin Pizza Day were monumental because they paved the way for the use of cryptocurrency in the future. Nine months after the transaction, the worth of the bitcoins totaled $10,000, meaning each bitcoin had the value of a dollar. On the five year anniversary, the value of the 10,000 bitcoins had risen to about $2.4 million. At one point in 2017, the value rose to over $100 million. As of September 2018, a bitcoin is valued at about $6,000, meaning the value of the 10,000 bitcoins used to pay for the pizza would be about $60 million.

The history of bitcoin dates to the early 2000s, when attempts were made to create a cryptocurrency, although none were fully developed. In 2008, a paper titled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" was posted online. The following year, bitcoin became the first cryptocurrency. Its software was made available to the public, and it began being mined. Mining is "the process through which new bitcoins are created and transactions are recorded and verified on the blockchain." With Hanyecz's transaction for goods on the first Bitcoin Pizza Day, bitcoin gained a specific monetary value—up to that point it had only been mined. Rival cryptocurrencies, often known as altcoin, soon emerged. They usually have been created to try to improve an aspect of bitcoin. Early altcoins were Litecoin and Namecoin, and there are now over 1,000.

In 2013, bitcoin's value reached $1,000, but then crashed to about $300. It took a few years to recover. Over time, as it could be spent at more places, bitcoin's popularity continued to grow, as did its value. Time will only tell if the value of bitcoin will continue to rise, but on Bitcoin Pizza Day we can all remember the day the first cryptocurrency transaction for goods took place, and how the value of a transaction for two pizzas once rose to over $100 million.

  • Canadian Immigrants Day

Canadian Immigrants Day celebrates those who have immigrated to the United States from Canada. Canada is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world, and most of its inhabitants live within a few hundred miles of its border with the United States. The border is 5,525 miles in length (this includes the border with Alaska) and is the longest border in the world that is not patrolled by military forces. Besides sharing a border, Canada and the United States share many cultural similarities.

Most Canadians immigrate to the United States by getting a green card, which they usually have obtained because they have immediate relatives in the country, or because they are sponsored by an employer there. Canadians migrate to the United States more than they do to any other country. In 1960, about ten percent of the US foreign-born population was Canadian. Although this was down to two percent in 2012, about 800,000 Canadian immigrants lived in the United States at that time.

The first wave of Canadian immigrants arrived in the 1860s; they were largely unskilled and came for factory jobs. A second wave arrived between 1900 and 1930, and were pushed by the discrimination they had faced in employment, education, and because of their religion. Immigration to the United States began to decline after this, as the Canadian economy began to grow after World War II. During the last half of the twentieth century, especially after the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1994, there was a diversification of Canadian immigrants which included students, those looking to reunite with their families, educated professionals, and retirees with wishes to move to a warmer climate.

  • Emergency Medical Services for Children Day
  • Harvey Milk Day

Harvey Milk Day honors gay rights activist Harvey Milk and also focuses on stopping discrimination against gays and lesbians. Harvey Milk was born in Long Island, New York, on May 22, 1930. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and worked at a Wall Street investment firm for a time afterward, living a closeted gay life at the time. In the early 1960s, his political views were conservative, and he campaigned for Barry Goldwater in 1964. Once he got involved in the New York bohemian theater scene, he began befriending a more avante-garde crowd, and his politics began to shift more progressive. He moved to the San Francisco Bay area in 1969, became involved in the gay social scene, and protested against the Vietnam War. After being fired for participating in an antiwar rally, he returned to New York City in 1970.

After some time working in New York theater, he returned to San Francisco in 1972 and opened a camera shop on Castro Street—the epicenter of the gay community. The following year he ran for a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for the first time, in part because he thought a tax on small businesses was unfair. He did not win a seat but did manage to finish 10th out of 32 contestants. Afterward, he co-founded the Castro Village Association, which supported gay business owners on Castro Street. He started the Castro Street Fair in 1974, and became known as "Mayor of Castro Street."

He once again lost an election for Board of Supervisors in 1975, and ran for the California State Assembly and was not successful in that bid either. In 1977, he worked to broaden his appeal beyond the gay community, by focusing on taxes, housing, and day-care centers for working mothers. In November 1977, Harvey Milk became the first openly gay person elected to California office, and the first openly gay person elected in a major U.S. city. The rise of Harvey Milk reflected the rise of the gay rights movement across the country, and he was at the forefront of it.

During his tenure in office, Milk pushed for visibility of gay people as well as for social equality. He worked to pass a gay rights ordinance—to ban discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodations. He spent the summer of 1978 working to defeat Proposition 6—also known as The Briggs Initiative—which would have banned gays and lesbians, or anyone supporting gay rights, from teaching or working in public schools in California. It was defeated at the ballot box that November.

On November 27, 1978, Harvey Milk was assassinated by Dan White, a former Board of Supervisors member, who had resigned a few months earlier and wanted to be reinstated. White first killed San Francisco Mayor George Moscone, and then walked across the building and shot Harvey Milk five times. Dianne Feinstein, who was President of the Board of Supervisors at the time, announced to the press what had taken place. Dan White was convicted of voluntary manslaughter instead of murder, in part because his team used the "Twinkie defense". He was released early and committed suicide in 1985.

Harvey Milk's profile continued to rise after his assassination. In 1982, a biography titled The Mayor of Castro Street was released, bringing Milk's attention to a wider audience. This was followed by an Academy Award-winning documentary, The Times of Harvey Milk, in 1984. Many buildings in California were named after Milk. In 2008, another Academy Award-winning film, Milk, was released. Harvey Milk was posthumously given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama in 2009. That same year, Harvey Milk Day was established by the California legislature and signed into law by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on October 11. California schools commemorate Milk with activities, events, and projects, and equal rights are focused on. The Harvey Milk Foundation organizes events worldwide.

  • National Solitaire Day
  • National Maritime Day
  • National Buy a Musical Instrument Day
  • International Day for Biological Diversity
  • National Vanilla Pudding Day
  • Sherlock Holmes Day

Sherlock Holmes Day celebrates Sherlock Holmes and the author who created him, Arthur Conan Doyle, who was born on today's date in 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland. At a young age, Doyle became enthralled by stories his mother told him, which was the spark that eventually would lead him to become a writer. He was sent to a Jesuit preparatory school in England at the age of 9. After a few years, he went on to study at Stonyhurst College, and after graduating in 1876, he went on to pursue a medical degree at the University of Edinburgh. There he met Professor Dr. Joseph Bell, who became his mentor, and later became the inspiration and model for Sherlock Holmes.

While in medical school, Doyle wrote the short stories "The Mystery of Sasassa Valley" and "The American's Tale," the latter of which appeared in London Society magazine. He also worked as a ship surgeon on a whaling ship in the Arctic Circle while in school, which inspired him to write Captain of the Pole Star. After becoming a doctor he moved around for a bit, focusing on his practice, but also continued to write. He also left his Catholic faith and became a Spiritualist. Eventually, he gave up being a doctor and focused solely on his writing and his faith.

Sherlock Holmes and his assistant, Watson, were introduced in the novel A Study in Scarlet, which first appeared in Beeton's Christmas Annual in 1887. It was with this novel that Doyle's writing career finally began taking off. Sherlock Holmes, a "consulting detective" who pursued criminals in London, around England, and throughout Europe, has endured as perhaps the most noteworthy detective character of all time. In all, Doyle wrote 60 stories that featured Sherlock Holmes. Some of Doyle's most noteworthy books that include Sherlock Holmes are The Sign of Four, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, and The Hound of the Baskervilles.

In 1893, Doyle tried to kill off Holmes in the short story "The Final Problem," because he wanted to focus more on his writing on Spiritualism. His readers weren't happy—20,000 readers even canceled their subscriptions to Strand Magazine, a magazine which Sherlock Holmes stories often appeared in. Eventually, Doyle was convinced to bring Holmes back. He reintroduced him in 1901 in the novel The Hound of Baskervilles, and then brought him back to life in the story "The Adventure of the Empty House" in 1903. One of the reasons he decided to bring him back was so he could use the profits from the stories to help fund his missionary work. The final twelve Sherlock Holmes stories appeared in the 1928 compilation titled The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes.

Besides his works featuring Sherlock Holmes, Doyle wrote other books such as Beyond the City, The Stark Munro Letters, and A Duet with an Occasional Chorus, as well as a series of works on Spiritualism. He was diagnosed with Angina Pectoris towards the end of his life. On July 7, 1930, Arthur Conan Doyle died in his garden with one hand to his chest and one hand holding a flower. The stories of Sherlock Holmes have continued to have been read, and Sherlock has also lived on in theater and film adaptations of his stories. Today we celebrate both Sherlock Holmes and the author who created him!

New guide to the Darknet Market (2019)

Dear Community,📷

Today, I'm going to teach you how to access the darknet and how you can help keep yourself anonymous and safety. This is going to be an international DarkAdviser and is only an information guide!

Quick Disclaimer: Everything you do on the Darknet is at your own risk. Do your research where you feel you don't have enough information. Be informed and be educated.

The most important thing to remember is that how anonymous you are on the darknet is up to you. It can take time and effort to do it properly, but ensuring your privacy and safety is important with things like this.

Tails - Website

Tail is an operating system that you can install to a memory stick, DVD or SD Card. You restart your computer and choose it as your boot device. Instead of windows, you'll load up on the Tails operating system. It comes with Tor built in and once you shut down the computer your whole session will be wiped. I personally don't use tails, but it's pretty highly recommended to use it if you can, it provides a whole lot of security.

The real benefit of using Tails is that your session is wiped after you've shut down, so there's no evidence logged onto your computer at all. So keep in mind, if you use tails, do not store a wallet on it. As soon as you shut down, your bitcoins would be lost forever.

Tor - Website

Tor is an internet browser that you'll need to use to access the darknet. You use this to access any .onion links. Using Tor means that your internet traffic will be directed through a bunch of randomized nodes to hide your internet traffic. More information on the website.

Note: When you launch Tor, to the left of your address bar there's an 'S' symbol. Click this and disable all scripts. This will turn off Javascript - which is important because there are vulnerabilities within Javascript itself which can render your computer unsafe.

Markets

You should now have either have tails installed to a USB stick ready to boot or Tor installed to your computer. So now you'll need access to a market. I personally can recommend Agartha Market is a registration-only marketplace meaning it can only be accessed if you register on the marketplace either as a buyer, or a vendor. No part of the platform can be accessed without registration. The other most used market is Empire Market but I don't have any personal experience with this.

Agartha: Only with Tor Browser

Finding Products

Now it's time for you to find the product you want. In Agartha you'll want to make sure that the vendor has a green thumb near their username. This means that you don't need to finalize early. Once you find the product you want, check the vendor's profile. Some vendors will want you to finalize early if you have under a certain amount of orders on your account, so you may need to make small orders initially to build a reputation. Ideally, you also want a vendor with a high rating who has made lots of deals. Someone who is reliable.

So you've found a product you want from a vendor you trust. You now need to place the order. If you've been following along with this guide while you're making your order I want you to read the following four sections before continuing.

For Agartha, check the postage of the product too by clicking the "Buy..." button.

Bitcoins

So you know how many bitcoins you're going to need. I get my bitcoins from Bit Bargain for the UK. Register for an account and follow the steps on the website to get your bitcoins. It has a step-by-step guide to follow and it's very easy to do. It'll involve a bank transfer too, so make sure you're prepared for that. It might be worth noting that transferring coins from your own wallet can cost you bitcoins, usually around 0.0001 BTC, so it can be worth it to get a tiny amount extra than needed. This also helps to account for any variation in the value of bitcoin in the time it takes for you to buy the coins and get them to your Agartha wallet.

Once you've got your coins to transfer them to your own personal wallet. You can transfer them directly to your darknet wallet also. The recommended wallet to use at the moment is Electrum. Make sure you get your bitcoins out otherwise bit bargain will tax you 1% every week.

Tumbling

I don't personally follow this step but I feel it should be in everyone's interest to know about it. Tumbling your coins will also cost you a fee depending on which tumbling service you decide to use.

The way this works is that bitcoins use a blockchain so that you can track where it's been throughout its existence. So the idea is that if a vendor has their coins seized they can track the transactions back to you through the blockchain. In practice, the chances of this happening are minimal and tumbling coins is ultimately not necessary. It can't be proved that you sent that money to them for anything illicit anyway. But if you want to practice that extra bit of safety - and I encourage everyone to be as safe as possible - then you can look at something like Helix as a tumbler. You can investigate the darknet subreddits for other recommendations too, as I do not know a lot about tumbling personally.

Encryption

This is the most important step here. So, you've got bitcoins and transferred them to your chosen market's wallet. Go back to the vendor profile and check for a PGP key. This is their public key and you're going to use this to encrypt your address so only that vendor can read it.

This is a great and detailed guide I'd recommend you follow. It covers everything you need to know.

So import the vendors key, type out your name and address in full, including country if the source is from abroad. Use your real name and address. It may seem scary, but I assure you that your postman is more likely to be suspicious that you're suddenly receiving a lot of packages for John Smith, who only seems to have recently moved into your place.

Encrypt your address with the vendors key and save it to your clipboard.

Making The Order

Okay, you've got the bitcoins in your wallet and you've encrypted your address with your vendors PGP key. Click "Buy..." then paste your encrypted message into the box and press "Confirm" for your order. You'll need to make sure you've got all the funds in your wallet. This will take you to finalization page. DO NOT FINALIZE until your product arrives. Don't ever finalize before you receive your product.

The finalization page for each order can be accessed via the "Orders" tab on Agartha. This is where the vendor will update the status and send you messages if necessary.

The order will auto-finalize after 14 days, releasing the money to the vendor. Make sure that if your product hasn't turned up by then you log in to Agartha and send a message to the vendor explaining that it hasn't turned up to extend the auto-finalize time. It could be that you can resolve the problems with the vendor directly.

As soon as your product arrives though, log in and finalize your order. Bitcoins are a volatile currency and the vendors should be paid for their service, so release the funds to them when you've got what you ordered.

No Order?

If your order doesn't turn up - don't panic. In the European Union, controlled deliveries seem to be entirely uncommon. In all chances, the order may have just been confiscated or lost in the post. I'd recommend that if an order never turns up though that you do not order to that address again. It could be flagged, it could be ignored, but I don't really know and it's your choice.

If you do receive a letter from the post office or any other agency, then you should definitely not use that address.

On the entirely slim chance you ever do get a visit from the police - you have no knowledge of that package and you should always lawyer up if it ever goes further. Use your Miranda Rights and keep quiet. It's not as prevalent here in the European Union I don't think, but you should always protect yourself. To be honest there doesn't seem to be many records in the darknet subreddits about police incidence in the UK though.

Other Tips

Make your Dark Net Identity separate from your other Identities. Don't reuse online personas you use to comment on Reddit or any other service. Pick two random words in the dictionary and throw in some random numbers if you want. Your darknet name should be unique and unidentifiable. The only way in which your darknet identity should be linked to you is when you send a vendor your address and name. And even when a vendor should not be storing this information. If you get the sense a vendor is storing your data in any way, then try to avoid that vendor if you can.

Don't leave leftover coins in your market wallet. I say this as someone that lost a tiny amount of coins on the Evo exit scam and a slightly larger sum during the Silk Road raid. It's always a good idea to have control over your own coins. I'd probably password protect your wallet too.

Domestic orders are always safer. If a delivery doesn't have to come through customs then it's always going to be less likely to be detected. Then again, Canada has some crazy green prices. Personal choice.

For Mac users, I'd recommend Tails even more highly than before because I really do not have any experience with Mac. If however, you don't want to use it, there's a guide on DarkNetMarketsNoobs

Always check vendor reviews for mentions of poor stealth. This means that the vendor is not hiding what they're sending you in the post. Obviously, this increases your risk of being caught, which is bad. So a vendor who has a reputation for good stealth is recommended. Oh, and don't ever discuss the actual mechanics of the stealth methods in a public forum. It should remain secret.

You can use www.dnstats.net to check the availability of darknet sites. You can use this to find tumblers, markets and whatever else you might want for the darknet. It will also show you the uptimes of the websites so you can work out reliability for yourselves.

End

And that's it - you should know everything you need to know to order from the darknet. If you have any questions or comments about the guide, leave a comment or message me and I'll try to update it.

Glossary

FE - Finalize Early

LE - Law Enforcement

PGP - Pretty Good Protection, you should use this to send messages to vendors.

BiteBTC exchange has robbed me 370 000 ReddCoins

I found old hard drives that were in the cell and accidentally discovered that I had a wallet with ReddCoins - the cryptocurrency of the Reddit community. Due to my inattention, I lost over 90% of its contents. That's why I decided to warn everyone who would like to register on BiteBTC.com. This exchange market is just plain crooks, and the number of victims can be counted in at least hundreds of people.

Swapping ReddCoin with Ether

2019-05-02 Thursday

I was looking for an exchange market to send there ReddCoins I mined and swap them for Ether.

In the years 2014-16 I mined many altcoins like DogeCoin, LiteCoin, LeafCoin, SolarCoin, QuarkCoin and other unusual. I used various exchange markets and never got cheated. I always checked before sending my coins to anyone. This time I checked too few sources.

I found information about BiteBTC.com that there I can exchange pairs RDD/ETH on both website: CoinMarketCap.com and CoinpaPrika.com.

At this time on coinmarketcap.com was information about fire building in company in Singapure. It's been over a year since the event, the stock exchange is still functioning and is still on CoinMarketCap.com and CoinpaPrika.com, I decided it was not SCAM.

I registered with the Full KYC procedure, i.e. I sent a personal ID scan and a regular letter on which my address is displayed.

Confirmation that the account is fully active I received after minutes.

Sending ReddCoins to BiteBTC

2019-05-03 Friday

I send 120k RDD on BiteBTC.com wallet.

After exchanging them for about 1 ETH, I made the procedure for withdrawing funds to my wallet and sent a request to the support team how long I’ll be waiting for approval of the withdrawal.

I received an answer after minutes.

https://i.redd.it/fo0klfe87mz21.png

This answer convinced me and I decided to send more, it was 350k RDD.

Total I send 470 000 ReddCoins.

Then I exchanged the major part for Eteher and I made the next withdrawal procedures. In total, I setted withdrawal around 4.5 ETH (I have no confirmation in any form).

Account temporarily blocked

2019-05-04 Saturday

I received an email from the support team that my account was temporarily blocked and to unlock I’ve to send additional information about the funds I sent to BiteBTC.com.

https://i.redd.it/bbubp7kh7mz21.png

From now, contact has stopped.

The support does not respond to any e-mail sent from me, and I sent them lots of e-mails.

My account in part is active, but I don’t have access to Ethereum, which I wanted to send.

Subpages like Verification, Balances, Orders history, Trades history, Transactions history, API keys, Settings czy Coin Redistribution are blocked and only you can see Profile page.

https://i.redd.it/ftv8we9l7mz21.png

On the subpage where you can exchange the cryptocurrency, I can see the rest that was after setting the withdrawal procedure.

https://i.redd.it/l2d5zd5n7mz21.png

There are 0.14102608 ETH and 93260.01418987 RDD. However, I can not exchange, the message pops up that the account is not fully activated.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwWCcoX4L90

I started looking for more information about this exchange and found other victims on Telegram groups.

Of Course, The IRS is Updating Its Bitcoin Tax Guidelines as Price is Rising

With Bitcoin spiking more than 120 percent since the start of 2019, the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) says it is readying an updated set of guidelines to cover cryptocurrency taxation.

IRS Preparing Additional Crypto Tax Guidelines

In a letter to a bipartisan group of U.S. Congressmen, the IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig declared that clear-cut Bitcoin tax guidelines were a top priority for the agency. The letter was in reply to an April 2019 letter from the 21-member congressional coalition led by Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN).

An excerpt from the reply sent by Commissioner Rettig reads:

I share your belief that taxpayers deserve clarity on basic issues related to the taxation of virtual currency transactions and have made it a priority of the IRS to issue guidance. Specifically, your letter mentions (1) acceptable methods for calculation cost basis; (2) acceptable methods of cost basis assignment; and (3) tax treatment of forks. We have been considering these issues and intend to publish guidance addressing these and other issues soon.

The timing of the IRS’ statement comes as Bitcoin in enjoying a stellar price run, having more than doubled since January 2019.

How timely… BTC spikes and the IRS commissioner decides to comment ;)

— Crypto Tax Girl (@CryptoTaxGirl) May 21, 2019

As previously reported by _Bitcoinist_on multiple occasions, there have been calls for a more definitive structure for Bitcoin taxation in the U.S. Several institutions and stakeholders have decried the ambiguous nature of the current IRS crypto tax framework developed in 2014.

Both the American Institute of CPA and the Treasury Department have previously called on the IRS to provide clear guidance on the Bitcoin taxation process. Many critics of the current framework say taxpayers bear too much of a burden trying to follow pre-emptive steps to avoid falling into the trouble of cryptocurrency-related tax evasion charges.

Bitcoin is Both Currency and Property

Back in 2014, the IRS chose not to recognize Bitcoin and other cryptos as currencies, characterizing them as property. Thus, their exchange falls under the purview of capital gains tax.

Fast-forward to 2018 and the IRS says cryptos are a digital representation of value akin to traditional fiat currency. This declaration opens the door to income tax considerations for virtual currency transactions.

Buying crypto isn’t a taxable event.

Selling crypto for fiat (e.g., USD) is a taxable event.

Trading one coin for another is a taxable event.

Using crypto to purchase goods or services is a taxable event.

— Crypto Tax Girl (@CryptoTaxGirl) July 11, 2018

Then there are also the implications of using Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to make purchases. Back in March 2019, _Bitcoinist_reported that the proposed Bitcoin for Starbucks coffee as part of the Bakkt–Starbucks agreement might bring up additional BTC tax filing palaver.

I trade the “magical internet money” on infrastructure that does not belong to ANY sovereign state, it’s a non productive asset depending on 0 state owned common goods, to avoid sovereign theft, aka taxation

Paying “capital gain” tax for such activity is such a joke LMFAO

— Dovey Wan (@DoveyWan) May 20, 2019

There are, however, stakeholders in the industry who believe cryptocurrency shouldn’t fall under government tax. Tweeting on Monday, Dovey Wan of Primitive declared that paying capital gains tax of cryptocurrency transactions was “a joke.”

Do you think taxes on cryptocurrencies are lawful? Let us know in the comments below.

⚜️ REPORT ON ARBITRAGE BOT PROFIT FROM April 29 - May 06 ⚜️

https://i.redd.it/9jxpy0e49lz21.jpg

Good day, dear clients! 👋🏼👩🏼

Last week, we witnessed quite interesting events at the cryptomarket.

The Bitcoin moved to $ 6,000. Only slightly don't reaching this value on most of the exchanges, and on some even overcoming it.

It is not yet clear whether the price can overcome this level. Typically, such strong levels are not overcome the first time. Recall that the level of $ 6,000 was supported almost throughout 2018 and was overcome only in November.

But in any case, certain movements around this price will pass.

The last week from the point of view of arbitration turned out to be unusual in that bitcoin outperformed all altoquin on profitability, which was the result of an attempt to pass the level of 6,000 dollars.

Let's see what happens next.

💰 Yield for 29.04 - 06.05:

▫️ Bitcoin - 1,00 %

▫️ Ethereum - 0,79 %

▫️ Ripple - 0,68 %

▫️ Neo - 0,73 %

⚜️ REPORT ON ARBITRAGE BOT PROFIT FROM May 06 - May 13 ⚜️

https://i.redd.it/nusta4d2alz21.jpg

Good day, dear clients! 👋🏼👩🏼

Key events occurred on the crypto market last week. Obviously, we have the final confirmation of the reversal of the global trend on the upward.

This does not mean that there will not be a fall (moreover, most likely, after such a sharp rise last week, we will see a downward correction this week), but on the whole the market is likely to move upward. With the goal by the end of the year in the range of 8000-10000 USD for BTC.

Increased volatility has allowed the arbitrage bot to earn one of the best profits since the beginning of the year. Again, Bitcoin profitability was the best of all.

💰 Yield for 06.05 - 13.05:

▫️ Bitcoin - 1,62 %

▫️ Ethereum - 1,40 %

▫️ Ripple - 0,98 %

▫️ Neo - 1,26 %

Agartha Darkweb / Darknet Market - Fast and Secure

Dear Community,

Since the shutdown/seize of popular Darknet markets such as Alphabay trade route or Hansa, a number of alternatives presented themselves in the industry, Agartha is one such marketplace and that’s what this Agartha Market review is about.

The options available now, such as Empire Market or even Agartha weren’t necessarily created after the collapse of those giants, but this marketplace did exist prior to the events they just didn’t get enough of the spotlight which they enjoy now.

Note that this Agartha Market review is purely for educational purposes, any use, including legal or otherwise is completely and solely your own responsibility.

This section should get you an insight into the marketplace and all its primary features and numbers which should get you a pretty good idea of the marketplace’s capabilities before diving right into this Agartha Market review:

  • Primary URL: Only with Tor Browser
  • Registration: Mandatory.
  • Supports Escrow, Multisig, Login Phrase, and Security PIN.
  • Vendor Bond: 0.02BTC.
  • Currency: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Monero, Bitcoin Cash, Dash, and Vertcoin.
  • 136 Products available.
  • Marketplace fee: 2.5% for buyers.

Agartha Market is a registration-only marketplace meaning it can only be accessed if you register on the marketplace either as a buyer, or a vendor. No part of the platform can be accessed without registration.

The registration process, however, is completely anonymous, it asks for a username, password, a 4-digit pin, and a security phrase.

Now, I wish you a good time with this market and if you have any questions about the market feel free to ask!

Kind regards,

DarkAdviser2019
