[uncensored-r/btc] Raw bitcoin cash segwit transaction

The following post by stupidmistakebtc is being replicated because some comments within the post(but not the post itself) have been openly removed.

The original post can be found(in censored form) at this link:

np.reddit.com/r/ btc/comments/9diobf

The original post's content was as follows:

Hello, please can anyone teach me or show me a guide on how to create a raw bitcoin cash segwit transaction. I recently had my coins swept up by a miner when I accidentally send bch to segwit, I filled the Btc.com form, but they took time to get back to me and eventually told me they were sorry that the service is not actively maintained. I made the mistake of sending the bch to a previously used btc segwit so my public key was exposed. I want to know how to create the transaction myself in case of next time, thanks.

Edit: txid 8c3d5ca2b8120ccb463ae8f6421c04ab237cd6990de4d9e8fab065d1ff367d35

Address I mistakenly sent the coins to 3PyS9ggEs25DbjUNT1CTES8T7vvrBWTrvR.

And please try to read and understand before you comment stupidly.

Peter Thiel isn't that bad of a guy...

Hey Guys,

In my opinion, Peter Thiel isn't some super-villain. He's been really unpopular on reddit lately and there's been a lot of stuff spreading about him that isn't true (at least, I don't think it's true). So, I wanna go over some of the usual criticisms against him.

1) Peter Thiel is sexist and said that women getting the right to vote was bad for democracy.

So, this criticism comes from this essay Peter Thiel wrote in 2009 about The Education of a Libertarian (It's a pretty interesting read). He made this statement in the essay

Since 1920, the vast increase in welfare beneficiaries and the extension of the franchise to women — two constituencies that are notoriously tough for libertarians — have rendered the notion of “capitalist democracy” into an oxymoron.

If you actually read his essay, it is extremely obvious that the comment was just saying that women's suffrage has been bad for the Libertarian movement. This is because, women aren't libertarian and you can look at polls and see this is true. Thiel was saying that women's suffrage has been bad for the Libertarian movement and that's a true statement.

2) Peter Thiel just got lucky off Facebook. He's actually an idiot!

Well, Peter Thiel is has a 2200 FIDE chess rating and has the USCF Life Master title. He went to Stanford undergraduate and Stanford Law. He took over as CEO of Paypal after Elon and took the company to a $1.5 billion acquisition (He made ~$55 million off the acquisition). Then he invested in Facebook (and made ~ 1 billion off that). After he managed a macro-focused hedge fund and got extremely good returns, so much so that the macro fund grew from $10 million to managing $7.2 billion dollars. He did fail though post-financial crisis and the hedge fund lost a lot of money and closed ( A LOT of macro fund managers strugged post 2008, so I wouldn't exactly call him a failure for that ). He started Palantir (he's the largest shareholder) and that company has grown to be valued at $20 billion ( more on this later ). He's made early-stage investments in LinkedIn, Quora, Stripe, Tesla, SpaceX, Lyft, some weed company (although that might be overhyped idk) and some others I've probably forgot. He also bought a lot of bitcoin in 2013 and bought $15-20 million worth when it was ~$2500. He also said Uber was the most ethically challenged company in Silicon Valley 3 years before the Travis Kalanick was forced to resign (due to tons of Uber scandals). I could honestly state a bunch of other things he's said that ended up being true (he's been saying Google and Facebook have monopolies for years, he predicted the rise of Amazon in 2012 ), but my point is Peter Thiel is actually a really smart dude.

3) Peter Thiel is a Libertarian who hates competition and supports Monopolies

So, this comes from his book Zero to One, where he states that when you start a business, you want to start a monopoly. He's stated multiple times that this is just how you should think as an entrepreneur, and that obviously monopolies aren't necessarily best for society. BUT, if you're an entrepreneur, than you want to capture as much market value as possible and you want to avoid competition since competition will kill your profit margins. If you're an investor, you want to invest in monopolies. This is advice purely from an investor/entrepreneur's perspective, which makes sense as the fucking book's target audience was entrepreneurs/investors.

4) Peter Thiel thinks colleges should be abolished

Nope. He said there is a place for college but it isn't for everyone, and he questioned why college was getting so expensive. He said that there was a bubble in higher education as the price of college was increasing rapidly and the quality of education wasn't matching the price increase. Therefore in 2010, as a trial, he gave 20 kids $100,000 if they dropped out of college to pursue any idea ( Those kids have since raised $400 million dollars in funding for their ideas ). You can see his views of higher education here

5) Gawker

So, somehow people seem to have forgotten that the guys at Gawker were fucking assholes. They outed people who were in the closet (Peter Thiel, David Geithner ), outed one of r/politic's moderators (Gawker links were actually banned from reddit for some time because of this), posted a video of a random college girl getting gang-raped and refused to take it down despite pleas from the girl and her father and of course, posted a video of Hulk Hogan having sex (where Hogan didn't know he was being filmed) and refused to take the video down despite Hogan's pleas. So, I don't think it's a stretch to call Gawker a group of pieces of shit. They also had a ton of lawyers on retainer because they knew people would sue them for the shit they were doing. However, no one was able to because 1) Lawyers are really expensive and Gawker would easily outspend you and 2) Gawker was able to use free speech argument so suing them would be incredibly difficult. Peter Thiel decided that he wanted to take Gawker down and he realized that he was one of the few people who had the resources to do so. Even so, Hogan was the underdog. From the beginning of the lawsuit, Gawker NEVER took it seriously. The gawker editor who posted the video said under deposition that he would be fine with posting child pornography. The editor also said that Hogan's sex tape was NOT news worthy. You'd have to be retarded to say this kind of shit in a deposition and the editor later said he was joking about the child porn remark. This just shows how cocky Gawker was. Even the day before the trial, Nick Denton predicted Gawker had a 90% chance of victory. All of this stuff made Gawker look like huge assholes to the jury and that's why Gawker lost. Saying that Thiel could use this tactic to take down an actual news organization is absurd. I'd highly recommend Conspiracy by Ryan Holiday. The entire story is fascinating, and Ryan Holiday gets exclusive access to both Nick Denton and Peter Thiel.

6) Palantir

So, a lot of criticism has been directed at Thiel from Reddit for his involvement with Palantir. Thiel's actual reason for why he started Palantir was because he rejected the traditional notion with regards to Privacy. The standard narrative is that you can either have no government tracking of your data but you will have less security and more terrorist attacks OR you can have less privacy but more security and fewer terrorist attacks. Thiel rejected this notion and created Palantir with the aim of applying advanced machine-learning & computer science so you can have more privacy AND more security. Thiel talks about this here

7) Trump

I suspect this is one of the biggest reason people don't like Thiel. I'll just link this video where he spends 10 minutes going over why he supported Trump.

8) He has a blood boy and injects the blood of younger people into himself

The story wasn't true

In my opinion, taking down Gawker was something good Peter Thiel did. I think his book Zero to One is a great read and I think his views on the "stagnation" are extremely insightful and important (He's been saying that innovation has been slowing over the past 40 years. All the innovation has been IT/Computer related and none of it has been related to "the world of atoms". He wants to people to put more effort into changing this). I think he's been a net positive to humanity and look forward to reading your guys' counterpoints.

Where to start investing?

Hey folks. I plan on being debt free in 12 months, and when I am I would like to start putting a sizable amount of my income into investments. I have a slightly-above-laymans understanding of how the stock market and crypto currencies work and figure I ought to start there. Does anyone know of any good guides on YouTube? Or YouTubers that cover investment really well? How worthwhile is it to use services like robinhood that spread your money around? Would I be better off with a mutual fund? Should I hop into Bitcoin this late in the game, or should I be looking for the next big crypto currency?

Any help is super appreciated. Thanks!

What are the advantages of Vite compared to other public chains?

Vite.org is public blockchain with the combination of smartcontract, DAG and Snapshotchain. Let's see how Vite innovates compared with other public chains!

There have yet to be many infrastructure chain projects that employ an asynchronous architecture because there are several downsides, but the performance is like comparing an automobile to an airplane engine.

Vite splits transactions into pairs according to a “request-response” pattern. The writing and verification of transactions are asynchronously decoupled, which results in ultra-high throughput. Inter-contact communications are based on an asynchronous messaging model.

Vite uses the DAG mechanism because its TPS (Transactions Per Second) is much higher than other infrastructure chains. At present, Vite uses the Snapshot Chain to resolve the security weaknesses in DAG.

Let’s go in detail with the innovation of Vite with the following points!

Comparison Table among Bitcoin, Ethereum, EOS, IOTA and VITE

Firstly, Vite applies an asynchronous architecture to the message-driven of smart contract. Nano (a DAG project) divides the transfer into two actions: billing and recording. Meanwhile, Vite draws on Nano and extends it to the smart contract. Transactions are divided into accounts. A call transaction has two parts: a request and a respond transaction. In Block-lattice, there are a independent chain for each account, while DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) usually says a tangle structure which does not support the mentioned feature. Transactions in DAG could refer to multiple blocks while in Vite the transaction pair only happens between sender account chain and receiver account chain. In Vite, the transaction is written onto the ledger and is asynchronous.

Secondly, in Vite, users can write a lot of transactions to the ledger within limit TPS, but the throughput is confirmed asynchronously, which smooths the confirmation of transactions, maximizes the use of the system resources, and improve the throughput of the whole system. In the meantime, transactions are sent in one account, leaving those in other accounts unrecognized for a longer periods.

Last but not least, Vite is expected to use the asynchronous design for inter-contract calls. With an event-driven architecture, every smart contract is viewed as an independent service. Contracts communicate via messages without sharing state. Vite adopts message-driven architecture. There is no state sharing between contracts. Users only communicate by sending message to each other.

Transactions in Vite are grouped by accounts. That is, each transaction only changes the state of one single account. Sending transactions are separated from receiving transactions, which obviates waiting for a transaction to be completed before the initiation of another one. The hierarchical design of the consensus algorithm allows horizontally scale in consensus groups.

I believe with those criteria, Vite is a technical coin, and expected to be the most promising blockchains project of 2018.

[SF] [FN] The Darknet is like Dizneyworld / A Short Story Collection - "24 Hoo-Ha Hours in The Emporium"

It's on right now. Until the break of dawn. Angela and Veedi are in the Darknet scheming and it's time for the event of all events here. It's time for THE EMPORIUM.

It's located inside a dumpster. That's right. The entrance is inside a dumpster. It's top secret and so Angela and Veedi enter.

And when they do...welcome to Hell’s version of Disneyland/Downtown Disney. I mean...damn.

Street Vendors are selling a collection of illegal wares: stolen credit cards, Netflix usernames, pirated movies, coupons, every kind of porn movie from every country.

IRANIAN PORN! BANG BANG IN ANTARCTICA! HORSES AND RACCOONS FUCKING HUMANS! BDSM GALORE!

Costumed hosts are trying to get people into their shoddy POP-UP SHOPS.

WANT TO KILL YOURSELF? WE HAVE THE BEST OPTIONS.

A man holds up a sign: I CAN PRINT ANY BODY PART YOU WANT WITH MY 3-D PRINTER!!! 50% DISCOUNT FOR GENITAL PRINTING!

SILICON MASKS FOR SALE! BE ANYONE ANYWHERE ANYTIME ANYHOW!

Carnies are coaxing everyone to play their grimy CARNIVAL GAMES.

PING PONG FISH! PIN A TAIL ON TRUMP THE DONKEY!

WIN THE BITCOIN LOTTERY TODAY!!

AN OPEN AIR BAZAAR OF DEPRAVITY, DEBAUCHERY, AND VIOLENCE.

Angela and Veedi walk by another man selling what appears to be...

IMMORTALITY JUICE! GET YOUR IMMORTALITY JUICE!

Another: Who want that purple drank?! Well, I got it in a can now, baby!

COCAINE CANDY BAR WITH METH SPRINKLES! WHO WANT THAT?

ONE POUND OF SAND, PEOPLE! You ain’t nothing without a pound of sand in your arms!

Angela walks up to the man selling the sand and asks what she would do with a pound of sand. He says well, he doesn't know, but there's money to be made from it for sure.

Angela and Veedi walk to the next part of the Emporium.

Silhouettes of dancers dance in those opaque colored boxes. Inviting people to come into a BROTHEL.

Once inside...

Small TV screens everywhere of half naked MEN and WOMEN staring seductively at every single PERSON that walks by.

BOYS (ON SCREEN) scream: YOU WANT A THREESOME, FOURSOME OR FIVESOME? COME ON OVER AND LET’S GET IT SOUR.

GIRLS (ON SCREEN) beckon: WRITE WHATEVER YOU WANT ON MY CHEST. 19.99 AND ALL YOUR PROBLEMS WILL BE SOLVED.

They keep walking. They pass a big PROJECTION SCREEN that’s set up before BLEACHERS. Different groups of MEN and WOMEN having sex onscreen. SUBSCRIBERS wear thick VR GOGGLES and watch them like it’s a drive-in theatre.

They walk by a MAN selling VASECTOMY DIY KITS like popcorn at a ballgame.

Man: Vasectomy Kits! Get your Vasectomy Home Kits! How about you, ugly kids?! You want to teek teek on your wee wee?!

Exhausted by the visual chaos, Angela and Veedi finally reach a sign...

An old METAL SIGN that has directions to all the different sections.

HONEYPOT AVE (trafficking) - GO LEFT

ENCHANTEDVILLE (drugs) - GO RIGHT

WHISTLETOWN (weapons) - GO NORTH

ATOMIC-LAND (everything else) - GO SOUTH

They then realize...their time in The Emporium has only just begun.

BCashPay Vietnam: Modernizing Payment Technology with BCore BlockChain

Bcore is creating a modern payment ecosystem for the banking industry through the Bcore Blockchain platform that allows anyone in the financial sector to create their own blockchain for business and financial transparency.

https://i.redd.it/nun62e92per11.jpg

The common problem in today’s electronic money market is that so much electronic money is generated on different blockchain platforms and users often mistake blockchain as electronic money, or electronic money as blockchain. Even confusion Bitcoin is blockchain. This creates asymmetry in the formation of the value and investment needs of the crypto investor itself, the value of which is exaggerated when the technology is not really ready, or to solve a real need.

With the payment industry, nothing is more important than improving transparency and preserving information, in addition to speed, and safety. Blockchain technology was created to meet that demand. Bcash develops on DASH features such as PrivateSent, InstantSent, and decentralized administration — Masternode. Bcore can contain all the databases needed for the billing industry.

With Bcore’s blockchain technology, we will see how the billing problem will be solved through products in the ecosystem built on the Bcore blockchain platform, and traded with Bcash money. The payment products that Bcore Team is building are: Bcash Pay, Bcash ATM, Bcash Card, Bcash Merchant, etc. to bring the general picture to Fintech Cryptocurrency. It provides fast, convenient, secure and decentralized system where users can own their cash and where bankers can create their blockchain if needed.

Blockchain’s future at BCash.

Bcore inherits the ideas of the previous blockchain like Bitcoin, Dash, Monero. It is guaranteed that the InstandSend, PrivateSend features allow cash transactors to handle large amounts of cash quickly, anonymously (if needed) and secure.

With MasterNode Bcash, like DASH, Masternode helps blockchain synchronize data, ensure the whole system is safe and develop many new features later if the community agrees. The owners of BCash Masternode are also eligible to receive a 10% interest per year.

With Mainnet, Bcore opens up opportunities for traditional banking businesses to access the pre-eminent features of blockchain and improve the quality of their services through digital asset tracking and automated balance sheet. Bcore’s ambition is to create a blockchain that is easy to understand, usable, and easy to build by bankers, rather than the blockchain building done by developers today.

It is an opportunity to learn from Bcash team about Bcore technology and how to invest with Bcash.

With many of the plus points for Bcore technology in the payment industry, we will need to meet Bcash team directly to ask them more thoroughly about this exciting project.

The most recent meetup of the Bcash team is in October:

https://www.meetup.com/meetup-group-GqPCApqH/events/255367738/?eventId=255367738&from=ref

Meetup event itinerary:

8:00am — 9:30am: Check-in

10:00am — 10:40am: What is bcash? What is the difference between Bcash and other electronic money like Bitcoin, DASH, Etherium?

10:50am — 11:30am: Global Payments Analysis and Development Trends + Payment Modernization Solution with bcash’s Blockchain Technology. Analyzing the trend of payment industry + The potential value of Bcash in the modernization of Fintech industry.

11:30am — 12:10pm: Exchange of opinions between BCash team and Vietnamese traders, investors crypto.

Remembering the last event in Kiev

On September 19th a significant event happened in Kiev. "Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference Kyiv organised by Smile-Expo."

People attending this conference were innovative business representatives; c-level management; investors; developers; marketing specialists; corporate representatives; lawyers; everyone desiring to improve efficiency and level of innovations in their companies.

We also visited this blockchain conference.

Seeing the interest and support form the people gave us more confidence in our project and idea. Our team is visiting at least two more bitcoin submits in the coming months. The goal is to further educate people about our values and necessity for a project like Certified Diamond Coin.

The first one will be held in Malta on October 23, 2018

A Guide to the Best Privacy Coin

Hey folks!

I just wrote this 3,000 word+ guide on the best privacy coins. Check it out, and let me know what you think.

- Monero is ranked #1 due to a mix of cryptographic guarantees, ease of use, and adoption

- Bitcoin is ranked #2 because while it's not completely anonymous, it has wider adoption than any "privacy coin" and there are tools you can use to anonymize Bitcoin transactions (buy locally, mixing, etc).

- ZCash is ranked #3 because while the cryptography's cool, it's really hard for most people to use private transactions and adoption is extremely limited.

Just to provide a bit of context, the reason I'm writing these guides is that 99.9% of folks who are interested in crypto can't evaluate it on it's technical merits. To get broader adoption for crypto, we need to make it easy for average consumers to understand, trust, and use different coins.

The idea behind these guides is to help give non-technical folks an on-ramp into crypto by showing them the advantages and disadvantages of specific coins based on actual usage—rather than number of nodes in the network, zksnarks vs mimblewimble, etc.

While these guides are targeted to a more consumer-oriented audience than the folks on this sub, would love to hear your thoughts and get any feedback you might have. Especially if you think any of the technical evaluation is off—let me know and I'll fix it.

Amid the discussion, it was clear that blockchain has potential to transform various industries. Below are the highlights of the roundtable discussions.

How Blockchain Will Disrupt Everything

The participants largely agreed that the adoption of blockchain was a question of not if, but when. As aptly put by roundtable attendee, Elaine Chia, Bank of Singapore’s Associate Director – “blockchain and cryptocurrency is a tsunami you cannot stop”. Participants brought up examples of how blockchain could potentially disrupt everyday scenarios: from search engines, to food security, to luxury goods. Had blockchain existed earlier, the milk powder scare of 2008 could have been largely avoided. By validating products on blockchain through adopting transparency and credibility, consumers can be more aware of the origins and expiry dates of pharmaceuticals and food products. In the luxury industry, fashion goods can also be authenticated on the blockchain system. Even fisheries can benefit from hosting information on blockchain to prove their sustainability measures, value adding to their consumers.

Blockchain: Boon or Bane?

The benefits of blockchain were agreed to go beyond encouraging transparency and traceability, as blockchain has the potential to boost efficiency. Participants in the banking and finance sectors stated during the roundtable discussions that blockchain technology should be adopted in its processes. It was mentioned that longstanding banks have strong views that technology can undoubtedly improve efficiency and there’s a massive amount of untapped potential to transform the way banks work.

Real estate consultant from Seed Global Investment, Edward Tan, shared with other roundtable participants that blockchain is a commonly discussed topic due to the nature of the industry where funds are frequently moved and a large amount of transactions happen on a daily basis. This creates an urgent need to implement blockchain technology.

Regardless of the background of participants, one thing was for certain: blockchain has the potential to improve systems everywhere. This is why Linfinity has embarked on the total supply chain wave, to provide businesses with a solution to improve transparency and efficiency. By implementing anti-counterfeit measures, traceability technology can strengthen processes.

ICOs: Are they Legitimate?

Despite the excitement and potential of blockchain, participants agreed that dubious ICOs are a possible explanation for the hesitancy and scepticism in blockchain adoption. Recently, ICO scams have been dominating headlines for scamming investors of millions. Often, these companies simply develop and market an attractive landing page or video in order to raise quick funds for their company.

In a recent Bloomberg Article, Lee Boon Ngiap, Assistant Managing Director of Capital Markets at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), said that the number of digital token exchanges and ICOs in Singapore has been on the rise. She continued that there is no need “to restrict them if they are bona fide businesses…but if any digital token exchange, issuer or intermediary breaches our securities laws, MAS will take firm action.” To avoid these scams, investors should study white papers with a discerning eye before committing to an investment. Due to the hot topic of ICOs often being a swindle, Linfinity is not heading towards the direction of an ICO. Instead it relies on the token model in order to incentivise businesses and end consumers.

Introducing Practical Applications of Blockchain Technology

Moving blockchain technology from a concept to reality, Linfinity has sought out strategic collaborations with companies to build a more trustworthy and traceable supple chain, based on their blockchain system.

To date, Linfinity has signed Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) in Singapore and Taiwan, with more upcoming in the region. The Singapore MOUs marked the start of partnerships between Linfinity and six companies across various industries – Crossinvest, RHTLaw Taylor Wessing LLP, RHT Holdings, RONGDE Logistics, Scientific Tradition, and WealthBriefingAsia. These partnerships span different industries from finance and legal to logistics and FMCG, and will see Linfinity’s implementation of blockchain technology improving the efficiency and transparency of supply chains.

In Taiwan, Linfinity and the Alishan Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Under this agreement, Linfinity will create a counterfeit traceability system for all players within the Alishan Group from manufacturers to consumers, as well as prevent counterfeit goods from circulating on the supply chain by using the first-ever dynamic game mechanism.

Anticipating Government Challenges and Regulations

As blockchain remains relatively new and unprecedented, companies must anticipate government challenges and regulations moving forward. Participants pointed out that the decentralized nature of blockchain leaves it resistant to government intervention, in the sense that governments cannot simply ban the access to blockchain altogether unlike Facebook in China.

Even so, companies interested in blockchain are still preempting what governments might do when they start to regulate blockchain. While the Singaporean government is in the midst of fine-tuning its registration processes and taxation, companies can rest assured that Singapore would embrace technological advancement, rather than cut away from it. In TechINAsia’s recent article, Bobby Ong, co-founder of CoinGecko, one of the largest cryptocurrency data websites, recently shared that regulations set up by Singapore are steps in the right direction, as “clear laws and guidelines by regulators are always welcomed by blockchain startups to ensure that the work that they are doing complies with regulations. It also helps blockchain companies with getting bank accounts.”

Linfinity Talk in Seoul, Korea, on 9th June on overview of blockchain technology with 180 attendees

In a bid to raise awareness and educate the mass public on blockchain and how it can benefit industries, Linfinity has made large strides beyond Singapore. The firm is establishing Linfinity Talks, the company’s self-contained global roadshow platform that demonstrates blockchain projects, as well as connect with like-minded businesses to further explore blockchain technology. Hosted by CEO of Linfinity, Mr Anndy Lian, he will share about blockchain technology and the importance of building a trusted and traceable anti-counterfeiting supply chain.

Targeting a regional audience, Linfinity has made its first stop in Seoul, Korea, where they were joined by CodePress – an out-of-the-box decentralized digital content distribution solution, aimed at helping content producers to quickly build their own content distribution networks.

Following its first successful event in Korea, the next Linfinity Talk will be held in Japan on 1st July 2018, Sunday. Subsequently, Linfinity will be involved in the ‘Asia Digital Asset and Blockchain Congress’ also held in Tokyo, Japan on the 2nd July 2018. Mr Anndy Lian be a Keynote Speaker at the event.

Aside from Japan and Taiwan, Linfinity has plans for more upcoming talks spread across the globe for the next three months – spanning from Singapore, London to Vietnam and Hong Kong. The possibilities of transforming supply chains across different industries is exciting – as the demand for trustworthy and reliable data increases. Mr Anndy Lian is open to discussions should there be interest in collaborations with Linfinity to apply their blockchain system to existing organisations and/or supply chains. You can reach him at pr@linfinity.io.

Blockport Community Update : Week 40

In the spirit of community-accountability, here’s your weekly dose of Blockport updates.

First things first, we’re happy to announce that Blockport’s own utility token, BPT, is now live and officially available for trading on our platform! This means that all Blockport users will be able to start trading BPT for BTC on our exchange. Read more about the BPT listing here https://bit.ly/2IKhr3H.

Apart from that, we’ve been working on the following:

  • Refining and developing BPT’s utility for discounted trading fees.

  • Improving the platform’s trade order system, making the order-execution faster and safer for our users.

  • Building additional infrastructure that allows us to integrate with multiple exchanges in a faster, more efficient, and more robust way.

  • We have been testing crypto deposits on the platform, isolated to Bitcoin within our test environment (for now).

  • Improvements to the trade order form so that it will be easier to understand for novice users.

  • We revisited the copy (text) of our onboarding flow. It will soon include proper explanations of why we need certain things that we ask for (like ID and address), and guide users to their first trade once they’re in the app.

  • On a non-technical front, we have been preparing for our next community meetup, set for the 23rd of November. Find out more about our next event, hosted in Amsterdam, here https://bit.ly/2E9U8lf.

  • We have held another biweekly AMA session where our CTO Zowie and DevOps Engineer Maksym answered all of your questions. Have a look at the results here https://bit.ly/2A0sWRA.

  • Our community contest of September has ended. Congratulations to Andy for winning the first prize with his article on “trading do’s and don'ts”, where he outlines the differences between trading and investing. Read his blog article here https://bit.ly/2INNnUA.

In the upcoming week, we’re planning to:

  • Work further on finalizing BPT’s utility on the Blockport platform, with an emphasis on discounted trading fees.

  • Apart from KuCoin, we're also finalizing testing of the EOS trading pairs of Bitfinex. Expect an update next week.

  • We will kick-start the development of the fiat-withdrawal process. This will enable our users to withdraw Euros from our platform.

  • Work on implementing the new onboarding improvements which we have been validating over the past couple of weeks.

As always, feel free to engage with us in Telegram if you have any questions, comments, or suggestion!

PS: If you’re looking to get started with trading on Blockport, we’re currently charging no deposit fees whatsoever. Not a bad time to get started, wouldn’t you say? Start trading now.

Until next week!

Plutus Weekly Report - 10th October 2018

Welcome to the Plutus Weekly Report on the 10th of October

Curious to find out what it’s like for cryptocurrencies to have practical, useable value in the real world?

Head over to http://plutus.it and download the Plutus Tap & Pay for Android or iOS.

New to crypto, and looking to buy Pluton, Bitcoin, or Ethereum?

Choose the safest way to buy cryptocurrencies, and take our decentralised exchange for a test drive: http://dexbeta.plutus.it

What makes Plutus unique?

Plutus has learned from the past mistakes of other cryptocurrency services, namely the mantra: “If you store your coins on an exchange, they aren’t YOUR coins.”

This is why Plutus is quite possibly the only crypto-fiat and fiat-crypto gateway where your cryptocurrency balance is NEVER stored on any exchange or centralised server.

Instead, all coins travel directly to the user’s cryptocurrency address (or your own address, depending on whether you are buying or selling cryptocurrencies).

At the same time, our handling of fiat deposits is managed by 3rd parties (and is directly tied to a blockchain-based verification mechanism).

This makes events like the “Mt.Gox Disaster” impossible by design, because there are no user cryptocurrency balances whatsoever.

Legal Status of Pluton (PLU)

Several of our users have inquired about the legal status of Pluton (PLU) and how this affects the future of Plutus.

Quick summary: We have confirmation from our legal counsel that Plutus is best defined as a utility token, loyalty point, and in-app reward that exists for use inside the Plutus ecosystem.

Exchange Updates

You can currently buy Pluton on the PlutusDEX from other users as outlined in our white paper. However, as a community initiative, and to speed up the process, you can utilise the social media by posting and tagging any of the top three cryptocurrency exchanges, along with @Plutusit, #PLU and #Cryptoanywhere.

Media and Press

Our CEO and founder Danial Daychopan will be speaking at the BusinessCloud RoundTable today.

“What will Brexit mean for London’s tech sector?”

This event brings together a panel of industry leaders who will share their insight into how London’s tech sector can survive and ultimately thrive in a post-Brexit economy.

Development Updates

Currently, our development workload is running at nearly above full capacity, as we are under pressure to deliver a polished and stable ecosystem.

  • Implemented authorisation middleware/handling for cards
  • Updated our continuous integration process
  • Documenting and clarifying challenges regarding card API
  • Added new screens: Login, T&C, passcode, forgot password, onboarding and more.
  • Fixed several issues with order matching on the PlutusDEX.
  • Resolved inconsistencies with the blockchain tracker.
  • Integrating graph-based data queries
  • Preparing optimised designs for the newly released iPhone models.

To keep up to date with all things Plutus, join our Telegram groups, and read this weeks update in full - visit our Medium blog here

Very important note: If you previously participated in the PLU crowdsale and have yet to claim your PLU you must do so before the end of December 2018. If you miss this deadline you will forfeit your unclaimed PLU and this will be used for bounty payouts.

[Daily BAT Discussion] Man Overboard - October 10, 2018

October 10, 2018

Hey BAT sailors! Welcome to the Daily BAT Discussion!

Yesterday's Market Movements: Up and Down

Yesterday was a bit of a roller coaster. We were pushed through 2700 sats for the majority of the day, but at the end of the day BTC crashed about $100 and we fell slightly, but this morning after a few sudden buys, we're back up to low 2700 satoshis ($0.18). Volume increased a little bit, closer to 150 BTC on Binance. Volume also has started to pick up a bit in the general Bitcoin market, so hopefully we don't see anymore surprise drops!

Have a good one, fellas! Remember, invest responsibly!!

1. General questions

Where can I download the Monero wallet?

There are multiple Monero wallets for a wide range of devices at your disposal. Check the table below for details and download links. All wallets listed below are open source. Attention: for extra security make sure to calculate and compare the checksum of your downloaded files.

Desktop wallets

Wallet Device Description Download link
"Official" GUI / CLI Windows, Mac OS X, Linux The default implementation that is maintained by the core team. Use this one to run a full node and obtain maximum privacy.Has Ledger (hardware wallet) integration. Current version: 0.12.3.0. GetMonero.org
MyMonero Windows, Mac OS X, Linux MyMonero is a lightweight wallet, which means you don't need to download the blockchain and run a node. MyMonero was developed with the assistance of the core team. They also have web-based and iOS versions. GitHub

Mobile wallets

Wallet Device Description Download link
Monerujo Android Popular Android lightweight wallet that has very cool features, like integration with xmr.to which lets you send payments in BTC using your XMR. It also has Ledger (hardware wallet) integration. Website: https://www.monerujo.io/. Google Play / F-Droid / GitHub
MyMonero iOS iOS version of the MyMonero wallet. All versions have interoperability. App Store
Cake Wallet iOS Popular iOS lightweight wallet that has integration with MorphToken, which means you can instantly exchange your XMR to other coins and tokens. Website: https://cakewallet.io/ App Store
X Wallet iOS Another iOS lightweight wallet. Website: https://xwallet.tech/ App Store
Edge Wallet Android / iOS This is a multi-assets wallet, meaning you can store Monero, Bitcoin, Ethereum and other tokens in one single app. https://edge.app/ ⚠️ Relatively new - use with caution! ⚠️ Google Play / App Store

Web-based wallets

Wallet Description Link
MyMonero Web version of the MyMonero wallet. All versions have interoperability. Web
XMRWallet Web wallet with TOR support. ⚠️ Relatively new - use with caution! ⚠️ Web / Onion URL

How long does it take for my balance to unlock?

Your balance is unlocked after 10 confirmations (which means 10 mined blocks). A block is mined approximately every two minutes on the Monero network, so that would be around 20 minutes.

How can I prove that I sent a payment?

The fastest and most direct way is by using the ExploreMonero blockchain explorer. You will need to recover the transaction key from your wallet (complete guide for GUI / CLI).

How do I buy Monero (XMR) with Bitcoin (BTC)?

There are dozens of exchanges that trade Monero against Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Check out the list on CoinMarketCap and choose the option that suits you best.

How do I buy Monero (XMR) with fiat?

  • Kraken (USD and EUR): old-school, decent exchange. They might require your documents for verification and approval of your account.
  • LocalMonero: peer-to-peer exchange. They have pretty much everything as a payment method and they support hundreds of fiat options.

How do I mine Monero? And other mining questions.

The correct place to ask questions and discuss the Monero mining scene is in the dedicated subreddit r/MoneroMining. That being said, you can find a list of pools and available mining software in the GetMonero.org website.

2. Wallet: CLI & GUI

Why I can't see my balance? Where is my XMR?

Before any action there are two things to check:

  1. Are you using the latest available version of the wallet? A new version is released roughly every 6 months, so make sure you're using the current release (compare the release on GetMonero.org with your wallet's version on Settings, under Debug info).
  2. Is your wallet fully synchronized? If it isn't, wait the sync to complete.

Because Monero is different from Bitcoin, wallet synchronization is not instant. The software needs to synchronize the blockchain and use your private keys to identify your transactions. Check in the lower left corner (GUI) if the wallet is synchronized.

You can't send transactions and your balance might be wrong or unavailable if the wallet is not synced with the network. So please wait.

If this is not a sufficient answer for your case and you're looking for more information, please see this answer on StackExchange.

How do I upgrade my wallet to the newest version?

This answer is beautifully answered on StackExchange.

Why does it take so long to sync the wallet [for the first time]?

You have decided to use Monero's wallet and run a local node. Congratulations! You have chosen the safest and most secure option for your privacy, but unfortunately this has an initial cost. The first reason for the slowness is that you will need to download the entire blockchain, which is considerably heavy (+60 GB) and constantly growing. There are technologies being implemented in Monero to slow this growth, however it is inevitable to make this initial download to run a full node. Consider syncing to a device that has an SSD instead of an HDD, as this greatly impacts the speed of synchronization.

Now that the blockchain is on your computer, the next time you run the wallet you only need to download new blocks, which should take seconds or minutes (depending on how often you use the wallet).

I don't want to download the blockchain, how can I skip that?

The way to skip downloading the blockchain is connecting your wallet to a public remote node. You can follow this guide on how to set it up. You can find a list of public remote nodes on MoneroWorld.

Be advised that when using a public remote node you lose some of your privacy. A public remote node is able to identify your IP and opens up a range for certain attacks that further diminish your privacy. A remote node can't see your balance and it can't spend your XMR.

How do I restore my wallet from the mnemonic seed or from the keys?

To restore your wallet with the 25 word mnemonic seed, please see this guide.

To restore your wallet with your keys, please see this guide.

3. Wallet: Ledger

How do I generate a Ledger Monero Wallet with the GUI or CLI?

This answer is beautifully answered on StackExchange. Check this page for the GUI instructions, and this page for the CLI instructions.

4. Nodes

How can I my local node become a public remote node?

If you want to support other Monero users by making your node public, you can follow the instructions on MoneroWorld, under the section "How To Include Your Node On Moneroworld".

How can I connect my node via Tor?

This answer is beautifully answered on StackExchange.
