• The next Charity Party stream will be on Tuesday, June 8th, which is World Ocean Day! They have something special planned.
• The web development team is currently working to ensure that the new website is safe and secure before launch. The new website will be rolled out before June 4th.
• Alex will be in Miami at the Bitcoin 2021 Conference representing Elongate, June 4th to 5th, he will be meeting with community members and doing giveaways.
• There will be marketing all around the city of Miami during the conference.
• There are teasers coming up for June 7th. Watch out for announcements on June 6th.
• Hasan, Chief Technology Officer, is in talks with several exchanges. Recently he was communicating with 8 exchanges. Nothing can be announced until contracts are signed.
• Elongate will be incorporated in Switzerland. The law firm working with Elongate is based in Switzerland and they are handling everything. Incorporation will happen in a couple weeks.
• Official announcements regarding the Elongate cable TV segment are coming soon.
• They have planned to recruit streamers to compete in eSports and gaming tournaments. Winners will choose a charity.
• The leadership has big goals and Elongate is moving beyond the meme coin identity. Elongate is becoming a legitimate company and is defining what it means to be a charity coin.
• The first NFTs will feature official Elongate content, later on, the community will be able to submit and vote on NFTs.
• Investing in Elongate is an investment in the vision, roadmap, and the long term. Elongate is not a pump coin. The team is 100% dedicated to making their vision and roadmap a reality.

Set to run on June 3, the Bitcoin 2021 conference in Miami is marked as one of the largest Bitcoin (BTC) events in crypto history.

CoinEx Smart Chain (CSC)｜Build the Infrastructure for the Industry with the DeFi Solicitation Event and the Support Fund Scheme

Blockchain is endowed with financial attributes. Take Bitcoin for example. Apart from the financial value as a cryptocurrency, the token economic model, decentralized financial model and related derivatives have constituted the underlying foundation of blockchain finance.

Security precautions for Bitcoin conference

Anyone have tips for basic security precautions for someone flying in for Bitcoin conference? I’m worried about the increased gun violence that’s been happening plus this is a very high profile event with a ton of extremely wealthy people attending and concerned it might be a target for people looking to cause trouble.

I also don’t know how much security the organizers are providing for the event.

How Long does it Take to Mine One Bitcoin?

Continued Crash

Will the market continue correcting? My current musings are these:

1). BlockFi stablecoin generous APY...thru July.

Could it be that certain institutions have reached out to BlockFi and ‘suggested’ or ‘encouraged’ this move? As they are intent on continuing the plunging/Wyckoff/shorting maneuvers? Even the whales will appreciate retail traders re-energizing the bull market after the bottom they have chosen is in - and having/outsourcing stores of stablecoin ready to go long is smart.

2). Elon Bitcoin tweets, plus this ‘mining council’.

This can be strung out or wrapped anytime they choose. Purely a timing and trigger game imho.

3). We’re in an obvious bear trend rn.

Makes sense and is a bit easier to incentivize some people to sell and preserve their gains so that hodlers can do their thing and continue to stake/provide liquidity as the market corrects

4). Institutions want in this cycle.

The cogs of industry move slow. Michael Saylor has made his case and many are keen to adopt - but the impediments to doing so can be many. What better way to REALLY make this a supercycle and employ this bear market in the middle of the bull market and slow things down, so that these corporations and other entities can really begin the process of mass adoption at ‘reasonable’ prices they have witnessed only a few short weeks and months ago before the crypto jargon they care nothing about of ‘halving events, Eth 2.0, eip1559, DeFi’ etc pumped this way too fast for institutions to grapple with efficiently.

How We Could Afford a Large-Scale Seastead

This post isn't asking for anyone's money but is meant as a preliminary discussion point as to how we could fundraise for what would surely be a multi-billion dollar project one day.

Let us first assume that the price of bitcoin, like Hal Finney originally predicted, is going to $10 million worth of today's value within our lifetimes.

From a $60k bitcoin to a $10m bitcoin is over 166X returns on what we could treat as a high-yield savings account for any funds we were to donate to this cause. 166 TIMES returns, probably within a decade, definitely within 2-3. What better way to come up with the vast amounts of moulah needed to fund a bitcoin-friendly seasteading community?

Let's say we work on a serious proposal with blueprints and all that, and find out that a proper seastead that is self-sufficient would cost us $5 Billion USD in today's dollars to build. (Totally spitballing here.) I mean really proper, such as having backups for the mining, desal, solar, wind, internet connections, hospital, food farming, mining, hotel, and marina repair shops. Everything we'd need to get a community of 500 or more people into the deep water.

If we wait until more people arrive and the tech is more feasible, that could be in 10, 20, or even 30 more years... But this rise in Bitcoin's price is a 1-time event that is happening in the present.

The last time such a valuable thing (gold) went from worthless to the world's reserve money in the eyes of the world, it took thousands of years! But today the internet is making it happen in just a few short decades.

We really need to get started saving in a bitcoin fund soon, so we don't miss those sick 166x gains. $5 billion of today's dollars divided by 166 is only $30.1 million dollars, which is only 501 bitcoins. And that's at a $60k BTC, and it also assumes that bitcoin doesn't just keep growing in value forever. (Which it may, due to people losing coins and population growth!)

I repeat: We need to save ~501 Bitcoins soon to fund a $5 billion seasteading city later. This is a totally achievable goal, especially since so many bitcoiners are already seasteaders. The more bitcoin's price goes up, however, the more that number of bitcoins in savings needs to go up as well though. We really can't afford to wait!

Yes, this comes with other challenges, such as who we can trust to watch over the private keys and how we determine & execute maturity. It would also bring up the question of how we can incentivize people to do all the work like draw up proper blueprints, research technology and materials, onboard suppliers, find & coordinate the inhabitants, etc. I'd argue that these problems all need solving no matter what approach we take, and having a large, publicly-auditable pool of bitcoins in our care would smooth these problems out nicely as it grows.

I don't have all the answers, but the problem of who to trust with the private keys seems obvious to me: We minimize the trust in any human, and put together a solid multisignature wallet with something like 10 keys that at least 8 of us would need to sign in order to spend any funds. The key bearers would be split between the folks who care the most about seasteading and the biggest donors. (Joe Quirk & Patri could likely get one each, and if huge coiners like Saylor and Musk dgot involved and donated 100 coins then they'd get one too, etc.) We'd have to get all those keys in place with sound recovery strategies for each and every key before we start loading the wallet with funds.

And just in case this sounds a little too-long-term for some of you impatient folks, (myself included) we can always raise more than 501 Bitcoins. There are liberty lovers out there with literally thousands and thousands of coins and no way to spend them all in their lifetimes. (See: Pineapple fund)
