[Winner’s Thread #60] Thank you

My name is Umer. I am a 30 year old male and soon to be a father. I work as an accountant in a small textile firm. I am a fast food lover, and eating makes me happy. My wife and I are expecting and she is in her third trimester. I try my best to be available for her all the time, but due to my working hours, it gets really hard. Plus, I am working overtime so that we can save enough for all the medical bills that are going to come our way when the little one is due. Thinking about my wife going through the labor pain and all the other complications that may happen scares the hell out of me, and then there is the responsibility of being a good parent. It feels overwhelming. Winning this event has just gave me a lot of hope. This will be a huge help to cover the medical bills and all the other related expenses, plus I can start planning a mortgage of a small house or rent a small place to start a fast food restaurant. Wish me luck. Finally, I would like to thank the r/MillionaireMakers team, the moderators (specially /u/lilfruini), and all the people in this community for making this event possible. Thank you.

P.S.: I would again like to apologize for my poor English. It is not my first language.

Proposal to run a marketing campaign in Singapore to create awareness and increase adoption in BCH

Donations needed : 50 BCH Will post screenshot daily until targeted funds met

Wallet address: qqad5y88ya7cev64q7k53jyr5ehvx5jdr5gx20ryrn

Operations 3 men team (1 chinese, 1 Malay and 1 Indian)

COVID situation in Singapore, no mass gatherings (less than 6 ppl allowed) but able to travel around with mask on, our strategy of outreach will be different, as in Singapore most of us lived in block flats/unit numbers, we will bring ourselves to them, we will do door to door visiting, bringing along our laptop and promotional materials, explaining and showing them the benefits of Bitcoin cash

Almost 97% population in Singapore using smartphones and the elderlies (55-75) age group are one of the most IT tech savvy ranked top amount the world

Background We come from diverse backgrounds, financial, advertising and computer engineering fields, thus able to tap on this and deliver this project fruitfully, Face to face marketing and engaging/building rapport is our forte and we do it in a high conversion rate

Scope of work included:

1) door to door visiting marketing covered 40 blocks of residential flats (1 flats normally 12-16 storeys with 6-10 units)

2) print 10,000 flyers and distributed to the mailbox’s of unit as well, flyers will consists of English/Chinese/Malay/Tamil languages translations

3)prepare 10,000 small door gift to be given to the prospects to entice them

The goal is to try and get them to purchase and hold at least one BCH.

We will take event photos and videos to showcase our work done and pictures with prospects/users

This is a tedious hard work task and we each will only get a little compensation for our efforts minus off all those promotional materials/door gifts, expenses travelling around.

Please support us and we will deliver a successful marketing campaign, and we do not ask for huge sum of marketing fees for our part.

We do have the next campaign in mind and after residential campaign we will proceed to target companies for utilising BCH in their payments

Thank you

When Speeches are Always so Richly Inspiring

My own notes of my interpretation of what was said: Native assets can have a lot of advantages over ERC20 tokens in performance and cost, and we can have a path where you can pay token fees in the native asset instead of ADA. Then have vanity addresses where you can have your own address preference.

Dapps, Oracles, stablecoins, DEXs, all coming

When Prism is fully integrated so that you have an identity center you no longer send ADA to an address, you will be able to send it to Jason, to James, to the identity in Prism. Basic grandma level usability.

End to end communication, end to end encrypted communication, pub-sub, all will come.

Proof of stake is far harder. Cardano did it right with all the peer review and papers.

Upgrades will be a hardfork combinator event, just a flipping switch, no disruption to service

Polkadot and Cardano are the scalable ones, no other. Nominated Proof-of-Stake that Polkadot uses is based on the Cardano's Ouroboros protocol.

Cardano will not just do the smart contracts, it will do the pond and the ocean

Cardano can deal with clock issues, can recover from dishonest majority, better way of generating random numbers

Dealt with the account model, network stack, consensus model, programming languages

If we do one deal in Africa we get 5 million people, then we wake up one day we have 100 million. That needs a system that can scale and we have thought about how to get there, and get there with regulation, with identity, with off-chain, with permissioned ledger.

When the price increases we get more decentralized, K increases, we get more stake pools, we will get more resilient and run more hydra nodes that gets us to more than 1000 tps. 1000 stake pools and 1000tps will get you to a million tps. Bitcoin is the opposite, when the price of Bitcoin goes up, you get more vertical integration with mining towards asics and subsidised power, and the pools go from public to private, and you end up with 5 guys doing the mining. You can feed the entire bitcoin mining community with two pizzas. The entire Cardano runs with 20 kilowatts.

Bitcoin uses more electricity than Canada and still constrained to 7tps. Cardano gets more decentralised and gets more tps.

With the base layer of Cardano alone as it is today we can go from 150 tps to 1000 with the base protocol pre-sharded. So if you add on to that the state channels to run all the micro transaction off chain and low economic value transactions off chain, maybe we will exceed that in ten years. Cardano has 5 years or more to think about Sharding before the network needs it, because we built it right from the ground up and cannot outgrow our designs. Ethereum outgrew itself and is now hastily and chaotically backpedaling to rectify and do sharding etc, which creates complexity doing so many things all at once.

In the beginning in 2015 we asked what does a blockchain mean and wrote the GKL paper, then we asked can proof of stake even work and created a toy theoretically secure proof of stake but not the real one just to prove that under the worst conditions proof of stake can match Bitcoin and that was the original Ouroboros paper. Then we said let's build it to work at scale in a real operating environment and went from synchrounous to partial synchrounous, not scalable random number gen to high throughput number gen, static to adaptive security which is Ouroboros Praos, to be able to bootstrap from genesis we did Ouroboros genesis, clock issue we did Ouroboros Chronos, recover from dishonesty majorities we did consensus reducts, state channels Ouroboros Hydra. Every time we did that we built on the foundation already laid so that we never need to do a regression. Then the thousands of citations for Ouroboros papers.

Far ahead of Ethereum on the the theory side and on the engineering side.

We did the ITN to rollout Shelley and spent 6 months with the incentivised test net building a stake pool population, learning the mechanics of staking, getting the parameters right before we went to do the Shelley hardfork. Now that we did the Shelley hardfork we are now in the hybrid era where we gradually move from OBFT to Praos, network has never stalled. Professional adult way do it rather than experimenting with peoples businesses and hurting them as they lose money in badly built Defi. Can be trusted by govts and fortune 500 companies when we take it to them, because we did it right.

Ethereum goes about it irresponsibly and immaturely, not doing peer review, not doing due dilligence, and hurting the people using it as they lose money through errors.

‘Bitcoin Tuesday’ to become one of the largest-ever crypto donation events (x-post from /r/Cryptocurrency)

https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/k1kr6f/bitcoin_tuesday_to_become_one_of_the_largestever/

Has this year taught you anything about PM's, money or preparedness?

I thought it might be fun to share stacking experiences and perspectives so far in this eventful year. Here's my contribution. I learned the following:

  1. I was not as prepared as I thought.
  2. How to make true colloidal silver by reducing silver ions to metallic silver nano particles for water purification and certain medicinal purposes.
  3. How to turn 6kg of shot that had been sitting about for years into both graphite and wood poured silver bars.
  4. That bullion coins and bars are fun to stack.
  5. That bitcoin is great for purchasing said coins and bars.
  6. I have a tolerance for high premiums
  7. What a great community Silverbugs is
  8. How to spot fake silver
  9. That when I say this is my final purchase this year I'm lying
  10. That when I say this time it really is my last silver purchase I'm really lying
  11. I don't really care to buy Chinese themed silver anymore
  12. Let's see what lessons December has in store.

Note: This post is just a bit fun to put a positive spin to what has turned out to be a mostly crappy year for us little people.

bitcoins for Liberty in North Korea

Hello Bitcoin community!

I'm posting on behalf of our organization - Liberty in North Korea. We recently started accepting cryptocurrency donations on a more public basis by partnering with The Giving Block. Some of you may know this already, but there is a yearly giving event that they host called BitcoinTuesday happening next Tuesday, December 1st.

We are one of the many organizations accepting bitcoin (and ETH, LTC, BCH, ZEC, GUSD, BAT, LINK), so I encourage you to check out our crypto landing page and The Giving Block's BitcoinTuesday page and donate to any organization you want to support.

We are a global movement that believes every man, woman, and child in North Korea deserves to live a free and full life. Any crypto you donate will help North Korean refugees reach freedom through our 3,000-mile secret rescue route and will empower them in their new lives in order to be advocates and changemakers, so that one day soon they will achieve their own liberty.

Our landing page:https://www.libertyinnorthkorea.org/donate-crypto

The Giving Block's BitcoinTuesday pagehttps://www.thegivingblock.com/bitcoin-tuesday

Please comment with any questions you have, and feel free to DM as well.

Note: donations (crypto or otherwise) are not sent to North Korea. All donations go directly to LiNK and our work.

P.S. We have another user account at u/LIBERTYINNORTHKOREA but we've lost access to the account and are working with Reddit to get back in. Just wanted to get that out there in case any of you do some due diligence and are wondering.

How to fork bitcoin

To begin with, we’ll take you through the fundamentals. How to fork bitcoin happens when two diggers find legitimate squares simultaneously. Accordingly, when two squares have a similar square stature, this is alluded to as a fork.

The chances of finding the following squares on the two branches simultaneously again are fairly low. Be that as it may, in the event that one split of the blockchain develops longer, excavators will join this split, withdrawing the more limited split.

The squares in the more limited variant are classified “vagrant squares”. No exchanges are lost since exchanges on the stranded square, in the event that they were not as of now added to the substantial square, are re-communicated to the organization and added into the following legitimate square. These forks generally don’t change the hidden convention. On the off chance that a fork, notwithstanding, is purposeful, it is alluded to as a lasting fork.

So I moved into the private sector and found people that needed direct instruction

I've worked in radically different industries as a professional, with the 1st being music education, the 2nd being home improvement trade shows, and the 3rd being startup business operations in tech, with the majority of my experience in blockchain. So I've got 3 radically different things to compare, and I've got a suggestion for the gender disparity in tech I don't see on the usual lists, and its a connection I don't think I could make without the things I learned upon each major transition.

First, was my transition from being a pubic ed teacher to the pubic sector. It is remarkable to me that the private sector doesn't see the massive amount of transferable skills. Or anything, really. The biggest shock I had upon taking my first professional job in the private sector was, "I had no idea people could make so much money while doing so little." As a teacher, everyone I worked with was their own entrepreneur. Scrappy, self-sufficient, creative, able to stretch a budget further than you'd think possible, and believing 10 hour days were normal for everyone. Same goes for making about 45K for all that. Don't forget all the other stuff that's not in the job description you're expected to do.

So I moved into the private sector and found people that needed direct instructions for everything. Or did about half their job with no repercussions, while make more money! I guess you can get away with that when your profession is't a scapegoat for all of society's ills. But there was a distinct positive. We know far more women work in K-12 education than men. Also, pay is standardized across the board. There's no negotiating or questioning if someone with the same eduction level who's worked the same number of years as you is making a different salary. They're not. So despite all of challenges that come with teaching, I worked with a majority female workforce where everyone pulled more than their weight + half.

Eventually I found myself as the event marketing manager for a high end home remodeling company, managing 15 part and full time employees working several in person events and trade shows every weekend. One, managing adults you get to pay after managing kids that have to sit in your class

I look at the thumbnail photo used for our announcement post in Medium. Seven of Neon District’s brooding and capable characters gaze out from over the city scape. In my asset folder I’ve nicknamed this one, “The A-Team.” If I was ever stuck in a misty, cyberpunk dystopia, I’d want these guys to have my back.

It’s been a little over 3 months since Marguerite, Ben, and I scrambled to get our whitepaper together. There it was, proof that this little gem of an idea had a real foundation to stand on. A declaration of creativity, complete with a rose-colored road map. I understand that the majority of whitepapers are little more than copypasta marketing documents, but we were determined to be different. You can call that rose-colored as well, but I can’t see our team losing that kind of uncool sincerity any time soon. Every time someone tells me they’ve read it I start grinning from ear to ear, like a 3rd grader who’s just won the school science fair.

Nothing is ever as easy as you think it’s going to be. We analyzed the gameplay, we rearranged its parts, and we practically burnt the whole thing down before finding those perfect embers. I recently read a comment on twitter that building a creative project remotely is bad for one’s mental health. I’d like to argue this point, but currently there’s a 3-pound bag of dehydrated cereal marshmallows hiding in my kitchen.

Detour # 1: Pineapple Arcade

I have a feeling that being Marguerite means stumbling into experiences that most would call “unordinary.” So, when she texted us in early February to say, “The anonymous funder of the Pineapple Foundation wants to donate money for crypto puzzles and prizes, and they’d like to build some of it too,” we said yes. The only answer to something like that is yes. It’s the Bitcoin equivalent of being called and told you’re a distantly related princess with a kingdom to save.

After a month of frenzied work, we opened the arcade on March 14th. Pi day. The arcade features Diego’s beautiful artwork, arcade style games hidden within the arcade machines, a magical graffiti wall (if you can find it,) and dozens of hidden puzzles with even more hidden prizes. There’s also a surly, puzzle-loving discord group, if you want to take the red pill.

Detour #2: SXSW

At some point in every start up where one of the members lives in Austin, TX, that member will shout, “Y’all should c’mon down for SXSW!” (That member was me.) So, they did. SX is a good place to forget what your goals are, even if you made a comprehensive list and RSVP’d to everything ahead of time. We passed out a lot of stickers, drank some, networked, drank some, had heated debates about the intersection of crypto and games, drank some more, stood in lines while most likely drinking and debating, met some really awesome people, planned for the future, and went home. A week later it was off to San Francisco for GDC.
