5 Enterprise Blockchain Stories of the Week

Article by Forbes: Biser Dimitrov

Things are moving very quickly in the enterprise blockchain space. Recently, several of the largest banks announced their participation in key blockchain initiatives. A massive $20 million bond was issued on the public Ethereum network and one of the biggest blockchain companies, ConsenSys, launched a special initiative that aims to bring Decentralized Finance (DeFi) closer to enterprises. In addition, excitement has peaked in “bitcoin land” because, in mere days, the first physically delivered bitcoin contracts will launch on a federally regulated exchange.

JPMorgan’s Interbank Information Network (IIN) was joined by Deutsche Bank and Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation

JPMorgan’s IIN, built on Quorum (a private version of Ethereum) was launched with the goal of eliminating information inefficiencies, thereby providing a real-time flow of information. As of now, 344 banks have signed Letter of Intent (LOIs), creating what is probably the largest blockchain-based banking consortia. Last week, Deutsche Bank, the 17th largest in the world and the fourth largest in Europe by total assets, joined the network to tap into the information pool. Additionally, the Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC), the second-largest bank in Southeast Asia, joined the IIN blockchain consortia. Both news items are significant because of the sheer size of the banks involved and also because of the ensuing growth of the IIN blockchain. In the enterprise blockchain space, IIN is probably the most significant effort in terms of shaping the industry with its outcome.

Interbank Information Network

Santander launched the first end-to-end bond on a public blockchain network

Banco Santander, the largest Spanish bank, has issued a $20 million blockchain-based bond with a quarterly coupon of 1.98%. This is noteworthy primarily because of the bank’s use of the public Ethereum network, on which the investor wallet, the issuer wallet, and the issuer smart contracts reside. (Not many large banks are even considering the use of a public blockchain network.) The effort involved tokenized cash that was exchanged for bond tokens worth $20 million via an atomic delivery-versus-payment (DvP) transaction.

Bond issuance flow

ConsenSys launched Codefi, aimed at businesses

ConsenSys, the largest Ethereum-focused development shop, just launched a new “mesh” that focuses on bringing Decentralized Finance (DeFi) to larger companies and businesses. DeFi-type products and services are currently used mainly by enthusiasts and cryptocurrency-focused traders. ConsenSys wants to change this and expand the scope of instruments and markets existing only in the decentralized space. The current DeFi offering creates certain inefficiencies (like overcollateralization) and introduces the systematic risk of using an unproven smart contracts. For example, nobody on the Ethereum trading market has a clear view of the overall risk exposure in terms of money and technical liabilities. Codefi wants to change this by providing a framework for assessing the complex risk in permissionless lending (which is one the aims of this new project).

Bakkt is ready to launch its bitcoin futures

Bakkt, in partnership with ICE Futures US and ICE Clear US, will launch physically delivered bitcoin futures contracts along with custody approved by the New York State Department of Financial Services. In dealing with digital assets, the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), which owns and operates the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), is getting into uncharted waters. This comes just two weeks after the announcement that Bakkt Warehouse, the safe gatekeeper for bitcoin, is accepting deposits and withdrawals. On Sunday 9/22, we will see how the market reacts to this launch, though the bitcoin sentiment is highly optimistic. The belief is that the move with further bitcoin adoption among institutional players like endowment funds and brokerage firms. It might also help make the case for bitcoin ETF once we have a stable and reliable physically delivered bitcoin futures market.

Wells Fargo launched an internal settlement service using R3 Corda

It has become very popular for banks to look into stablecoins as a potential settlement mechanism. Already, several public efforts, like JPMorgan’s JPMC and Utility Settlement Coin, serve similar functions. Now Wells Fargo has joined the ranks of blockchain-enabled institutions. The company is aiming to settle internal transactions much faster and more cheaply than it would if it went with the SWIFT network. Internally, dollar transactions will be pegged to a stablecoin so as to facilitate these transactions. This is a strong justification for R3’s Corda network protocol, which has received a lot of traction lately. Corda is not technically a blockchain per se, but instead uses a transaction-based proprietary distributed ledger technology (DLT).

All these events are momentous for the enterprise blockchain space, as the influx of large enterprises is hastening the pace of blockchain adoption. While they are investing people and money into this adoption, these enterprises are also building much-needed services like custody, risk management, and infrastructure to properly run and operate blockchain networks.

Bitcoin Association runs massive BSV network demonstration

News by Coingeek: Derek Tonin

Even when put on the spot, the Bitcoin SV (BSV) blockchain has proven that it can handle massive amounts of transactions. It had to recently, when the Bitcoin Association conducted a network demonstration for developers interested in working on the BSV chain.

The two day event was held in Hangzhou, China, with over 100 attending. On September 19, 16 speakers spoke to the crowd about their experiences and hopes for the BSV ecosystem.

On September 20, the Bitcoin Association conducted the Developers Dialogue, with 35 developers attending. Members of Mempool, Weiblock, Cityonchain, Bitmesh, and RelayX spoke to the assembled talent about their projects and thoughts about building on Bitcoin. To stress to the developers how capable the BSV network is in handling large loads, BSV supporter Aaron Zhou was invited. You might remember him from a 2 million transaction test from August 2019.

He was asked to show what the blockchain was capable of once again, and he pulled it off. In a massive demonstration, Zhou fired 700,000 transactions in just under an hour into the blockchain in at 9:00am UTC.

The demonstration can be seen on the blockchain starting at block 600824, where SVPool mined a 33MB block of 127,767 transactions. The final, and biggest block, was mined by CoinGeek, at 97MB and 365,832 transactions.

Lise Li, the Bitcoin Association’s China Manager, commented that while the demonstration was running, the developers chatted warmly, and they discussed the results at the end of it. They were pleased to note that the blockchain was able to handle all of it without a hiccup, and took note of how different mining pools take their own strategies in how they set limits on what they’ll mine.

For anyone invited to attend this demonstration, it’s a perfect example of how the BSV chain isn’t just big blocks in theory or testing, but big blocks anytime it’s necessary. This would be an inspiring show for developers looking to get their enterprise on the BSV blockchain: they’re now certain the BSV can handle their data whenever necessary.

Retailers Around The World That Accept Crypto, From Pizza to Travel

News by Cointelegraph: Jinia Shawdagor

Earlier on, when Bitcoin (BTC) arrived on the scene, most cryptocurrency enthusiasts held on to their coins, as there were only so many places they could be spent. Nowadays, the list of marketplaces and retailers accepting Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is significantly larger, providing crypto enthusiasts with more options for making real-world purchases.

After all, with recognizable organizations like Microsoft and Wikipedia now accepting Bitcoin as payment, conversations about Bitcoin and the power of cryptocurrencies are becoming more prominent.

Currently, several fast-food restaurants and coffee shops have started accepting Bitcoin as payment. This will likely provide traction for mass adoption as cryptocurrency payments become increasingly commonplace in day-to-day purchases.

Granted, there are some jurisdictions that do not consider Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency as legal tender. Despite this set back, even big tech companies like Facebook are coming up with payment systems that mimic cryptocurrencies.

Here are some of the leading retailers, merchants and companies that will let you book flights and hotels, buy coffee or pizza, or even go to space with crypto.

Pay for a burger in Germany with crypto

The German branch of fast-food restaurant chain Burger King now claims to accept Bitcoin as payment for its online orders and deliveries, but this is not the first time Burger King has warmed up to Bitcoin as a form of payment.

The company, headquartered in Florida in the United States, had its Russian branch announce in 2017 that it would start accepting Bitcoin payments, but it ultimately did not take off. The global fast-food retailer reports an annual revenue of about $20 billion and serves about 11 million customers around the world. If all its outlets move to accept Bitcoin as payment, cryptocurrency adoption would inevitably spread.

Spend crypto at Starbucks and other places

For crypto payments to gain traction, merchants need to implement systems that enable swift and easy cryptocurrency spending. Starbucks is one of the companies taking advantage of this concept through Flexa, a U.S.-based payment startup that is helping the cafe giant, as well as dozens of other companies, accept cryptocurrency payments.

The company developed an app called Spedn that enables crypto holders to make purchases with merchants like Starbucks. The company’s CEO believes that by making cryptocurrencies spendable in the mainstream, commerce will realize the full benefit of blockchain technology all over the world.

Crypto enthusiasts in Silicon Valley’s Palo Alto might already be familiar with Coupa Cafe for other reasons apart from its coffee and food. Through its partnership with a Facebook software developer, Coupa Cafe has been accepting Bitcoin as payment since 2013.

Reports show that the cafe received a steady stream of Bitcoin revenue as soon as they started implementing crypto payments — a clear sign of how eager its customers were to pay in Bitcoin. Coupa Cafe is among the few physical businesses in Palo Alto that accept Bitcoin at the moment. The cafe owners believe that their collaboration with the Facebook software engineer will create more traction in terms of Bitcoin adoption.

Buy food with crypto

With over 50,000 takeaway restaurants listed on its United Kingdom-based site, OrderTakeaways is one of the surest ways to get a pizza paid for with crypto delivered to your doorstep. The company has been accepting Bitcoin payments for online takeout orders since 2018. And other similar services include the Korean platform Shuttledelivery as well as German-based service Lieferando and its subsidiaries in several other countries.

Apart from online orders, crypto can also be spent at a regular Subway restaurants. As early as 2013, several Subway branches started accepting Bitcoin as payment. Now, for a fraction of a Bitcoin, a Subway sandwich can be purchased at select restaurants.

Pay with Bitcoin to tour space

Besides buying food and inexpensive, day-to-day items with crypto, a trip to space can now be bought with Bitcoin. That’s right. Richard Branson’s space tourism company, Virgin Galactic, started accepting Bitcoin as payment as far back as 2013. Although Branson’s predicted date for the first commercial flight has been pushed back several times, the company achieved its first suborbital space flight last year. Perhaps soon, people will be able to tour the moon on crypto’s dime.

Buy jewelry with Bitcoin

A brick-and-mortar American jewelry company called Reeds Jewelers accepts Bitcoin for both its physical and online stores. What’s more, if a purchase is worth more than $25,000, the company provides free armored delivery for safety. Other jewelry companies accepting Bitcoin include Blue Nile Jewelry, Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry and Coaex Jewelry, to name a few.

A big advantage of purchasing large ticket items — like a diamond — with crypto is that it makes moving around large amounts of money cheap and effortless. Reports show that more Silicon Valley investors are buying jewelry with Bitcoin. Last year, Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry reported a 20% growth in crypto transactions, leading to a boost in the company’s sales. The company has been accepting Bitcoin since 2014.

Send and redeem gift cards with Bitcoin

Gyft, a digital platform that allows users to buy, send and redeem gift cards, was one of the first merchants enabling cryptocurrency adoption to gain traction in the real world. The mobile gift card app allows Bitcoin to be used to purchase gift cards from several retailers, some of which include Burger King, Subway, Amazon and Starbucks. The company has also partnered with popular crypto exchange Coinbase to enable users to buy gift cards from their Coinbase wallets.

Travel and pay in Bitcoin

If a traveler only has Bitcoin at their disposal, the following merchants will gladly offer services in exchange for it. TravelbyBit, a flight and hotel booking service, accepts cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Binance Coin and Litecoin (LTC) as payment.

With a network of over 300 crypto-friendly merchants, the platform is one of the biggest supporters of crypto adoption. TravelbyBit can also alert you to upcoming blockchain events in order to interact with other crypto enthusiasts from around the globe. Other platforms to book flights with crypto include Destinia, CheapBizClass, CheapAir, AirBaltic, Bitcoin.Travel and ABitSky, among others.

Use crypto to book a five-star hotel in Zurich

If ever one finds themselves traveling to Zurich Switzerland, either BTC or Ether (ETH) can be used to pay for a stay in a five-star hotel in Zurich. In May 2019, five-star hotel and spa Dodler Grand announced that it will start accepting Bitcoin and Ether as payment.

The hotel has partnered with a fintech firm Inacta as well as Bity (a Swiss-based crypto exchange) to facilitate the payment and conversion of crypto to fiat money. The hotel boasts an amazing view of the Swiss landscape among other enticing amenities that come with a five-star hotel.

Pay for electronics and more with crypto

For all the gadget lovers, there are a bunch of platforms that allow electronic purchases with cryptocurrency. Newegg, for instance, is an electronic retail giant that uses BitPay to process payments made with digital currencies. Even though one cannot get refunds for Bitcoin purchases, Newegg has a good reputation for quality items.

Plus, the company boasts its being among the first merchants to support cryptocurrency adoption. Other platforms for gadget junkies include Eyeboot (a platform that sells crypto mining rigs in exchange for crypto), Microsoft, FastTech and Alza (a U.K.-based online store that sells phones and beauty products).

An ever-expanding list

It seems clear that more retailers are warming up to the idea of accepting cryptocurrencies. There is still a long way to go before full adoption can be achieved, but many companies have nevertheless benefited from being early adopters. Despite the volatile price movements of cryptocurrencies, all evidence points to a future cashless society that uses digital currencies, and crypto is leading the way.

New concept of digital payment system: TarK payment system escorts security of your digital asset

The rapid development of the blockchain industry and the rapid leap of the token economy complement each other. The development of the industry has stimulated the demand for new digital asset storage methods, which has given birth to digital payment systems.

What is a payment system? As the name implies, a payment system is a tool for storing and using a token asset, and the definition itself is clear and simple. However, a series of coin stolen incidents in the past tell us that for digital payment systems, security requirements are always at the top of the list.

In the past decade, the development of the certification industry has experienced three waves, and the security issue has become the top concern.

The first wave was from 2008 to 2013, and the token still stayed in a very small circle of geek. Most of the participants were foreign technology geeks and very few domestic communities, they gathered together because geeks were optimistic about the future of digital assets and the power of exploration. At that time, the application of the entire field was basically blank, but the technology was developing at a high speed.

What followed was the dormancy period from 2013 to 2016. The iconic event was that traditional Internet giants gradually focused on the development of digital assets and tried to accept Bitcoin payments. In the same period, the earliest blockchain companies appeared in China. The first wave of entrepreneurship in the token market began.

Since 2016, industry innovations have emerged, and rapid growth has also accompanied with more problems. In the past four years, nearly four times the number of security incidents occurred every year. In the first half of 2018, nearly $1 billionof assets worldwide were stolen by hackers.

Based on the current development of the industry, TarK payment system came into being.

TarK payment system is positioning to provide users with one-stop digital asset management tools and services to protect users' digital assets!

https://i.redd.it/6y9yxkbwxfo31.png

As a new payment system based on blockchain 4.0 technology, TarK payment system combines the advantages of various payment systems and makes up for their shortcomings, bringing the development of digital payment systems to a new level. The advantages of the TarK payment system are concentrated in two super features and six advantages.

Anonymity and security are two of the top features of the Tark Digital payment system. The so-called anonymity, all transactions in the Tark payment system are open, which determines that it must protect the privacy of the trader, and no one can easily access to trader's information. Based on Blockchain 4.0 technology, Tark payment system is a truly decentralized product whose nature determines that no one can easily access the user's data.

In terms of security,Tark payment system created the world's first dual-form cold payment system security protection model. It introduced the top technology innovation and multi-person collaborative management function of Silicon Valley in the United States, which greatly reduces the safety factor of the risk of the user's token asset and escorts the user's token assets!

In addition,When the payment system is idle, the network will automatically open the never-on-network mode. It builds transactions and signatures at the cold end, and broadcasts transactions at the hot end, creating a strong protection shield for the token assets, completely eradicating the network hacking and resisting the asset risks caused by various reasons.

Compared with the traditional token asset payment system, Tark payment system strictly controlled the payment and withdrawal operation, and the two password security management mechanisms of seed password + payment password prevent theft of assets and fraudulent use, cryptographic storage, never touch the network, secure verification and delete after you use.

Six advantages include supporting for multi-currency, second-speed, multi-account systems, offline signing, multiple verification, and open third-party ecosystems. In addition, eight functions which are import function, mnemonic words backup function, multi-currency storage function, on-chain matching transaction function, secure transaction function, game lobby function, online live broadcast function and on-chain query function are gathered together, Tark payment system can meet all your needs with one click, it is an indispensable security guard for your asset protection!

Since early-July, the Bitcoin price has entered into a drawn-out lull, with there being a clearly tightening trade range that has resulted in Bitcoin’s realized volatility falling into a range of 1.2%/day. Here’s Why Not only is volatility decreasing but so are volumes.out that CME’s BTC futures saw their lowest volumes in four months, implying indirection in this market.

This declining volume in the CME BTC futures market has been echoed over in the spot market. According to CoinMarketCap, cryptocurrency exchanges in aggregate have processed $51 billion worth of trades over the past 24 hours, which is a far cry from the $120+ billion seen during late-June and early-July of this very year. Sure, the data site is known not to be 100% accurate, but the decline in registered crypto volume accentuates the consolidatory period that Bitcoin is in.

But this lull might be about to come to an abrupt end.

When it comes to the traditional financial sector’s response to the emergent crypto asset space and industry developments, he said of large banks such as UBS and Credit Suisse: “From what we hear, interest has clearly picked up since the licenses were granted. Bank executives are asking their middle management to figure out whether this is just another fintech fad that comes and goes, or whether it is really transformational.” He added: “They are wondering strategically whether they need to commit to this, and what it would mean in terms of changes to systems but also mindset.”

Yesterday to this day, the BTC has been shaking slightly and is still hovering around $10,000. In the past 24 hours, the net inflows of BTC funds approached 30 million US dollars. Compared with the previous cycle, the market inflows increased rapidly. Yesterday, BTC failed to break the $10,000 threshold, but the daily average turned downward. In the short term, the market is still short-term dominant. In the medium-term trend, we still tend to be bullish, but before BTC is completely out of the triangle, we should be alert to the risk of repeated dishwashing by the main force. The upper resistance is $10,400, while the lower support is around $9,600. Operational aspects, continue to attract funds on the low side, fall below the $9400 recommended stop loss exit.

Beginner’s Guide To Mine Bitcoins At Home

Freelanex at Bitcointalk

https://i.redd.it/vsuz08yizbo31.jpg

If you’re looking for the best place to discuss cryptocurrencies, Bitcointalk becomes the obvious number one choice — it’s the oldest and biggest internet forum about the blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies as a whole. The website launched in 2009 when Bitcoin was worth just about a fraction of a cent.

Originally, Bitcointalk was created by Satoshi Nakamoto – the creator of Bitcoin, who may or may not be a person or a group of people whose identity has remained in the shadows ever since. Prior to creating Bitcointalk, Satoshi would use SourceForge to discuss his creation. Unfortunately, the logs of those discussions are gone now. His original Bitcointalk profile is still available – last seen online 13 December 2010 ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3 )

One of the last things he talked about before disappearing was about WikiLeaks. Here’s what he said: “It would have been nice to get this attention in any other context. WikiLeaks has kicked the hornet's nest, and the swarm is headed towards us.”

According to stats, there are 2.66 million registered users on the forum who have written over 52.5 million posts in total. Since its creation, Bitcointalk has had a few billion pageviews. Since its creation, Bitcointalk has had a few billion pageviews.

An average of 500 new users sign up every day with the ratio of men to women at 4:1.

Bitcointalk.org was built with SMF – an open source software pack.

Its design and functionality haven’t really changed since the day it launched.

The “Announcements (Altcoins)” subforum is one of the most popular on the entire website, followed by “Bitcoin discussion” and “Altcoin discussion”.

“Announcements (Altcoins)” has become especially popular since 2017 with the rise of ICOs and token generation events that happen almost every day. Our project has decided to start a thread on that subforum – we invite you to visit the official Freelanex project thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5185611.0

We will be glad to see you among the visitors of our Bitcointalk thread where you can share your opinions and give feedback!

Long Bitcoin Short The Bankers Shirt

Long Bitcoin Short The Bankers Shirt

I never had a greyhound but looked after one for her people from time to time. It was like having a young deer in the house. She was a retired racer and had been a cage that was too small so all the fur of her rear was worn off. Does that sound like she was well looked after? She was just a source of money to her racing owners. I thank God she was rescued because I had the privilege of having her in my home!! Long Bitcoin Short The Bankers Shirt. The fact that she was kept for a year after she stopped racing makes me think her owners cared enough to want her to get a good home. Tell pet shops who sell puppies, and the puppy farmers who breed them, and the scammers on gumtree, that dogs shouldn’t be about money. Racing is now being abolished...have you negatives ever been to those tracks? Have you seen the special place out back behind the cages where the piles of dead killed dogs lay in piles because they didn't win? Educate yourselves before you spit out crap about this money for winners sporting events.... thank god for these rescue groups who drive miles in vans to get as many dogs as they can at one time to save them at the track. Bitcoin’s ultimate demise is debatable – 6 ‘death spiral’ events to consider

https://www.asktraders.com/news/bitcoins-ultimate-demise-is-debatable-6-death-spiral-events-to-consider/

🔶 ROOBEE/BTC trades opened with an upward trend, and Bakkt platform was launched at night!

https://i.redd.it/nwgjlttnpbo31.jpg

👏 Today at 3 a.m. the Bakkt (platform by New York Stock Exchange) launched Bitcoin futures trading.

Everyone expected a lot from them, but so far, everything is not so bright 💁‍♂️😊

A total volume of 18 BTC did not cause a sensation.

However we congratulate them with the launch 👏

For the investment market, in any case, this is an important event.

➖➖➖➖➖➖

And this morning at 5 a.m. (UTC +3) ROOBEE/BTC trading opened on Bitforex exchange.

The opening of the trade began with a price level of +25%.

And at the moment they are in the range of 0.00000250 - 0.00000285 BTC

Which is the level of x2-2.3 of the price of the first rounds of IEO.

Trading is available at the following link: 👉

https://www.bitforex.com/en/spot/roobee_btc

These are now open market trades, where the price is determined by the market and its participants.

The situation may change later on, but the actual indicators are always available at the exchanges.

➖➖➖➖➖➖

Meanwhile, last night the first round of the IEO Roobee finished at Livecoin.

It was completed before the allotted time.

Therefore, as planned, the 2nd round was opened 💪

Yesterday Livecoin Exchange also announced the opening of the second round of IEO Roobee under the following conditions:

Token price: 0.00000158 BTC

Allocation volume: 23 000 000 ROOBEE

This round is already available through the exact same link:

Weekly news review (September 14-20)

Good day, Community! Let's take a look at last week's news highlights!

https://i.redd.it/ibb2fqlgibo31.png

The United States Treasury Department on Friday announced sanctions against three state-sponsored North Korean hacking groups for conducting several destructive cyberattacks on US critical infrastructure.

Besides this, the hacking groups have also been accused of stealing possibly hundreds of millions of dollars from financial institutions around the world to ultimately fund the North Korean government's illicit weapons and missile programs.

The three North Korean hacking groups in question are the well-known Lazarus Group, and its two sub-groups, Bluenoroff and Andariel.

The sanctioning of the three groups are the latest efforts of the US government to hold North Korean hackers accountable for cyber attacks and to protect US financial systems and critical infrastructure against cyber threats.

If you have ever shared your Google Calendars, or maybe inadvertently, with someone that should not be publicly accessible anymore, you should immediately go back to your Google settings and check if you're exposing all your events and business activities on the Internet accessible to anyone.

Since Google doesn't notify the creator of a public Calendar when someone accesses it or adds an event to it, the feature makes it harder for users to know if they are exposing information unintentionally and are even open to spammers and phishers as well.
Besides this, there's also no graphical indication on the Calendar interface from where users can get a hint that they had made that Calendar public and should stop adding personal events to the same.

The Turkish government has announced plans to establish a national blockchain infrastructure to utilize distributed ledger technology (DLT) in public administration.

The Ministry of Industry and Technology set out its vision during its Strategy 2023 presentation on Sept. 18 in Ankara.

Strategy 2023 emphasizes blockchain and DLT as priorities for the coming year. The document refers to a Startup Genome survey that marks blockchain as one of the fastest-growing tech trends, with a 101.5% increase in early stage startup funding globally.

The Strategy 2023 document says a new open-source platform for blockchain will be established in Turkey. This initiative will analyze different use cases such as land registration, academic certificates and customs to determine potential public sector applications.

The Ministry of Industry and Technology is also planning to work with Turkish regulators to create a regulatory sandbox for blockchain applications.

Saturday, Sept. 14 — The top 20 cryptocurrencies were reporting mixed movements on the day while Bitcoin’s (BTC) price hovered over the $10,300 mark.

Bitcoin trading is opening new avenues for citizens in communist-run Cuba, which has been financially isolated for years under a United States trade embargo. According to a recent report, Cubans are increasingly using cryptocurrencies to make online purchases, as well as to invest and trade.

JPMorgan’s blockchain-based payments initiative has added Deutsche Bank as its latest member.

The addition brings the total number of banks signed up for the Interbank Information Network (IIN) to 320, according to a report from the Financial Times on Sunday.

Announced in October 2017, IIN is built on Quorum, the ethereum-based blockchain network developed by the banking giant, and employs a stablecoin dubbed JPM Coin. JPMorgan said at the time that the platform would slash the time and costs required when resolving interbank payments delays.

IIN saw the start of remittance trials with JPMorgan’s client banks in June.

As per the FT report, the bulk of the member banks use JPMorgan to process USD payments. Deutsche Bank, though, ranks number one globally for clearing of euro-denominated payments.

Takis Georgakopoulos, managing director of treasury services at JPMorgan, told the newspaper that, since IIN would have “very big natural limitations” if IIN members were only drawn from the bank’s client pool, the addition of Deutsche Bank “is going to help us drive towards ubiquity.”

If you have any ideas, feel free to share them in the comments section down below!
