The Daily Spin. Weird Wednesday Edition. The two major headlines that are currently front and center at the moment are yesterday’s US CPI Inflation Data pumping BTC over $26k, and of course, ongoing coverage of the Silicon Valley Bank collapse. Interesting reads revolving around this topic are Forbes’ coverage of banking execs aggressively buying their own stocks after the nominal loss of value, controversy surrounding Signature Bank’s closure, and even mounting suspicion that the banking collapse is a ploy for the government to release the CBDC narrative. It was noted that there was an effort by mainstream media to try to blame the collapse on crypto, with a Bloomberg article caught red-handed before the NY authorities came out to deny crypto’s involvement in the cascading implosion of the fractional reserve system and the effect on the balance sheet that rapidly rising interest rates had on the financial sector.

The EU Parliament passed a bill called the Data Act, with legality covering smart contract regulations. Shiba Inu briefly took the coveted “most traded” coin spot, right before Bitcoin mooned 20% immediately following the CPI print. Fantom completed a successful mainnet upgrade, and KYVE launched its mainnet on Pi day; while Pi Network was crickets to the disappointment of its community. China’s NFT-related complaints surge over 30,000% in 2022. And the “Inverse Kramer” ETF outperformed the S&P500 during its first week of trading. How embarrassing…

ELI5: How does manipulation of Bitcoin's price actually work?

In recent times there have been so many counterintuitive events related to the price of Bitcoin. For example, within the last few days it's rallied from 20K to as high as 26K (it's currently down to 24K). That's despite the fact that Silvergate and Signature both collapsed. You'd think either or both would cause Bitcoin's price to fall, but instead it had the opposite effect.

Now I understand that the sub is a bit tired about talking about the price of Bitcoin. I know it keeps saying that BTC's price is manipulated. However, this is what I'm not exactly understanding, so I'd like to get an ELI5 on this: how exactly does Bitcoin price manipulation work anyway? And assuming no one knows the real answer, what could be possible ways and methods on how the price is manipulated? And finally, what does "Tether printing" have anything to do with all of this?

There are ongoing giveaway scams on youtube and many scammers lurking in Cardano's social channels impersonating ambassadors/moderators/official staff contacting users via direct messages.

For example, searching 'cardano' on youtube and sorting by most recent upload date shows several giveaway scams running (all videos in screenshot are scams):

The youtube scams are automated; use stolen footage usually of Charles Hoskinson and are restreamed so to appear to be 'live'; appear to have many watchers (which are bots); use bought hacked channels and are edited to appear like official channels.

Midnight Subreddit

In anticipation of Input Output's new data protection blockchain 'Midnight', I've managed to acquire r/Midnight through some negotiation and repurpose it for the Cardano Community (the sub was created for a card game back in 2011 but was mostly unused).

I decided to do this as I thought the project will eventually need a home on reddit and best to setup now before any scammers do. Obviously there's not much to post about on there right now as it's early days as the project is yet to be released, but if you'd like to be kept up to date on the project please feel free to join the new subreddit if the project interests you and I'll be sure to post updates as and when they become available.

Right now the sub is mostly a carbon copy of r/cardano, I've copied most of the automod and rules over, so certain aspects may seem a little incongruent atm, but I'll tailor and tweak the sub as we go. Feel free to send me or post any input if you want stuff to change.
