Need help thwarting an online blackmailing attempt.

Hi Guys,

So, an elderly member of my family just received an email blackmailing him to send $800. The content of the email was this:

1. In the first line of the email, the blackmailer mentioned a password, which was one time used by my acquaintance, but now is defunct. This was what made the email stand out from other spam messages.
2. Then they mention that my acquaintance had visited a pornographic website, "xxx videos" and that blackmailer had made a "video" of the event and has access contacts in FB, Messenger and "e-mailaccount".
3. Then they threaten to send the video (of the video he was watching and also him watching the video) to all the contacts unless he pays to a bitcoin account.
4. They mention not to contact the authorities as they have covered their steps and won't be traceable.

My acquaintance uses an old windows 7 laptop and has a decent free antivirus protection. And what takes the cherry is that he has put sticker on the webcam of the laptop. He read an article in the newspaper advising him to do so. LOL. But might have "inadvertently" clicked on a pop-up/email for a porn re-direct, which he claims he closed. This happened sometime in the past.

From the stand point of his laptop, what can we check for? Ran the antivirus which did not reveal anything alarming. Based on his best guess, he might have used this password on IRCTC website. Which might explain how the blackmailer got his registered email and password. Maybe the IRCTC accounts have been hacked, but this is just a guess at this stage.

More than anything, my acquaintance is livid that he has been targeted for a blackmail like this and is considering going to the police. He's not concerned about the "video" per se. Going by the email address, the weblink for the bitcoin ransom, would the police be able to trace the blackmailer?

Please let me know your thoughts on this and maybe also have a chat with oldies/less tech savvy members of your family about general internet security. I've just done mine. :)

I am the co-founder and CTO at https://paywithmoon.com. Due to the unethical business practices Moon Technologies, Inc. has been engaged in, I have left the company.

As of today, the moon browser extension manipulates the DOM of all our users' browsers to give them an augmented shopping experience, one that allows them to shop online with cryptocurrency. Over the past couple of months, my co-founder, Kenneth Kruger, has ordered the collection of data belonging to our users as a way to improve customer experiences. None of our users have ever been asked explicitly if they would prefer to opt-out of tracking, a feature which I regularly insisted should be added. If you are a user and look under at terms and conditions stated under https://paywithmoon.com/terms-conditions/ (dated 26 Feb 2019), you will find the agreement hidden under one of the terms and conditions.

From the moment you install our browser extension, we know exactly what pages are open on your browser, what the content of those pages are, and what you are doing with them.

The biggest and most alarming issue of all, is the process of collection of how our browser extension works in the backend - Coinbase API keys. From the moment the user initiates the connection between us and Coinbase, we watch for changes in the user's current window, waiting for the user to complete the one-time passcode (OTP) verification process as required by Coinbase. Once that is done, we programatically click the required permissions (scopes) required to create the API key as Moon sees fit.

The API key is then shown only once on the next screen, but the user does not know this (done via CSS manipulation). We extract the API keys into our backend, stored in plain text on our database. This is a definite security antipattern as I'm sure many of you know. This API key is then able to be used indefinitely until manually revoked by the individual user.

When I asked my co-founder why we should not encrypt the keys or create recursively locking IAM policies to prevent anyone in the management team to have personal access to our users' API keys, my co-founder constantly avoided or redirected the discussion and prevented me from building any kind of system that would protect our users.

Only two days ago, I have been locked out of my organization accounts including AWS and can no longer take preventive measures to protect my users.

If you are a user of our browser extension today, ***PLEASE*** you need to uninstall the browser extension viachrome://extensions and go into https://www.coinbase.com/settings/api and revoke ALL your API keys NOW.

If you have not used the Moon browser extension, but know of a friend that might, please inform him or her to do so immediately.

What was Zilliqa's Initial Supply?

Note: before rushing on the "comment" button, please consider that I am talking about Initial Supply (not Total Supply) & that I've done my homework (digged in the website, FAQ, blog, whitepaper, twitter posts, bitcointalk, etc) so please do read my post entirely before commenting.

Methodoly: in order to find the Initial Supply, I searched for the Total Supply, the crowdsale distribution & lockups/vestings.

The blog post about the details of the Zilliqa Token Generation Event says:

Zilliqa has a finite supply of 21 billion tokens, of which 60% will be in existence at the TGE.

Total Supply: 21,000,000,000

Pre-mined: 60%

Remaining to mine: 40%

Group 1: Mining Rewards

Zilliqa will incentivize miners to grow the network using 40% of the total tokens (8.4 billion). These tokens will not be generated during the TGE, but will be created by miners as part of the mining process over the next 10 years.

Questions:

1/ The only allocations that are vested/locked have this "quarterly vesting over 3 years" schedule, are the first tokens vested straight after the TGE (and then quarterly) or only after one quarter?

2/ What percentage of the "3% Agencies & Advisors" allocation did Bitcoin Suisse get?
