[Altcoin Discussion] Tuesday, November 17, 2020

Thread topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Discussion related to recent events
  • Technical analysis, trading ideas & strategies
  • General questions about altcoins

Thread guidelines:

  • Be excellent to each other.
  • All regular rules for this subreddit apply, except for number 2. This, and only this, thread is exempt from the requirement that all discussion must relate to bitcoin trading.
  • This is for high quality discussion of altcoins. All shilling or obvious pumping/dumping behavior will result in an immediate one day ban. This is your only warning.
  • No discussion about specific ICOs. Established coins only.

If you're not sure what kind of discussion belongs in this thread, here are some example posts. News, TA, and sentiment analysis are great, too.

IOS Game Recommendations

This post goes out to all the IOS players who have a difficult time finding engaging incrementals. Below is a list of some original (i.e. not mainstream) titles.

  1. Cyber Tycoon

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cyber-tycoon/id1197922207

This is pretty much a AdCap Clone. There's heists you can undertake which grant you multipliers to your various production units. Also, you earn bitcoin gradually which you can sell as an additional stream of income.

  1. Idle Universe

https://apps.apple.com/au/app/idle-universe/id1195110094#?platform=iphone

This game is part of the genre of incrementals that use various production units which produce a single production/currency. You start from tapping then you unlock quantum foam, a photon, a neutrino, ... a molecule, ... an asteroid etc. If you're into science then this you interest you, especially because there is a 'i' button to acquire more info about said production element/tier

Each production milestone x25, x50, x100 etc unlocks an upgrade point which you can use for 3 RANDOM upgrades including production, speed, tap multiplier, crit etc. Some people might not like this but I like the unpredictability of it in that you can try out different setups each run.

Which transitions smoothly into the prestige mechanic. The prestige currency grants various 'divine powers' (up to 21) and you can sell these 21 powers for a 'Singularity' which is an additional prestige.

NOTE: Not P2W

An itch is that the timewarp is incredibly op and their is a prestige timer which limits how often you can prestige so... yeah. You can bypass this with the premium currency

ALSO: There is no idle income despite 'idle' being in the title. Really strange move. This emphasises timewarp as a method to rapidly progress

  1. Bacterial Takeover

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bacterial-takeover-idle-game/id1217470965

Now this is interesting. The depth of this game is nice. Again like the last two you develop bacteria using your bacteria-producing units to invade planets and to infect them. After this, you gain the prestige currency, restart from diddly squat then work towards infecting the next planet. You can create, augment and merge different bacteria to raise different stats like BPS (bacteria per sec), BPC (bacteria per click), increased prestige currency gain, reduced production tier price etc. You can choose specific loadouts which emphasise active or idle play.

You can research to increase the production of production units, create nanobots to assist in invading planets and do 'planetary research' to aid in invading planets and to gather minerals (which I have not gathered any). Plus, two more research tasks I have yet to unlock

Also, consuming planets contributes to this black hole on the map which might act like a super prestige. I don't know, I haven't reached it

Super cool game which is bound to keep you engaged.

  1. Car Industry Tycoon

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/car-industry-tycoon/id1491135215

I thought this was one of this super P2W cashgrabs, low effort games but looks decent. So you begin developing the chasis of a car which a handful of workers then you expand your operations to encompass dozens of workers and production lines. The strategy is quite simple (like locating bottlenecks in production) but just witnessing your car factory operating is rewarding

DISCLAIMER: Only 2 hours of idle time, need to pay for more :(

Also made by an independent developer not some gigantic conglomerate corporation.

Some other ones which have kept me engaged but delated --> Idle Apocalypse, Idle Planet Miner. Not delated but playing is scrap clicker 2 but can get repetitive and major emphasis on ad events

So that's it. Hopefully this list can be of assistance

NOTE: The links might not work. Its the web version of the app store from the Australian appstore

also NOTE: I played these games for a week minus car factory tycoon so that I had a chance to complete some prestiges and get an overall feel for the game

$7.6B stolen

Since 2011, $7.6 billion worth of cryptocurrencies have been stolen through hacks or scams, according to a new Crystal Blockchain report. Approximately $2.8 billion was stolen through 113 security breaches, with a concentration of hacks taking place in the U.S., Japan, U.K., China and South Korea. Tokenization chill

Despite a DeFi cooldown, the number of tokenized BTC on Ethereum increased 21% since September. There are now well over 150,000 BTC, worth some $2.3 billion, on Ethereum. However, the trend has slowed significantly. Roughly $360 million worth of bitcoins was tokenized in October, compared to the $737 million tokenized in September, according to data from Dune Analytics. Notably, the pace of tokenization still outpaced the rate of mining issuance for the third consecutive month.

Remembering ecash.pdf when Bitcoin is currently at $16k

Many of us are aware of the 2 whitepaper drafts which satoshi published prior to the now available and famous "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" document

One was the now lost bitcoin monument "ecash.pdf" which was published on August 22, 2008 and other was the "bitcoin-whitepaper" draft from October 4, 2008.

I downloaded the ecash.pdf from Draftable.com but the metadata points that the file was created on August 28, 2017 and I am not sure if this was the original version or not. I also got a PM from a bitcointalk member asking for the original pdf with 2008 metadata and my days of searches never yielded any results.

Are there any old members here who have spoken with satoshi and do have the original ecash.pdf paper? It would be really great if someone can share the original pdf and help us in knowing what was the original draft is all about.

Subject: Citation of your b-money page

I was very interested to read your b-money page. I'm getting ready to release a paper that expands on your ideas into a complete working system. Adam Back (hashcash.org) noticed the similarities and pointed me to your site.

I need to find out the year of publication of your b-money page for the citation in my paper. It'll look like: [1] W. Dai, "b-money," http://www.weidai.com/bmoney.txt, (2006?).

You can download a pre-release draft at http://www.upload.ae/file/6157/ecash-pdf.html Feel free to forward it to anyone else you think would be interested.

Title: Electronic Cash Without a Trusted Third Party

Abstract: A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without the burdens of going through a financial institution. Digital signatures offer part of the solution, but the main benefits are lost if a trusted party is still required to prevent double-spending. We propose a solution to the double-spending problem using a peer-to-peer network. The network timestamps transactions by hashing them into an ongoing chain of hash-based proof-of-work, forming a record that cannot be changed without redoing the proof-of-work. The longest chain not only serves as proof of the sequence of events witnessed, but proof that it came from the largest pool of CPU power. As long as honest nodes control the most CPU power on the network, they can generate the longest chain and outpace any attackers. The network itself requires minimal structure. Messages are broadcasted on a best effort basis, and nodes can leave and rejoin the network at will, accepting the longest proof-of-work chain as proof of what happened while they were gone.

Satoshi
