My (30F) husband's (29M) childhood best friend, Jake (31M) and I don't get along well at all. Now I'm tempted to cut Jake out completely, but I can't because Frank and Jake run an online project together.
To give you some background, Jake was my husband's best man for our wedding. For the entire length of our engagement, my husband told Jake not to bring strippers. My husband, Frank, was wildly uncomfortable with the idea of strippers. Frank made Jake promise there wouldn't be strippers, I overheard this conversation from another room, and subsequently heard Jake promise that he wouldn't bring strippers. Come the night of the party, Frank comes home, drunker than he ever has been, vomiting violently, and the first words out of his mouth were that there were strippers and do I still want to marry him and that he only got as drunk as he did to try and forget. I stayed up that entire night fuming at Jake, watching over Frank to make sure he didn't start vomiting in his sleep. From what Frank's other friends, my own brother, and Frank himself told me, Frank tried not to engage with them, was too scared of being called names to leave, and was forced to do coochie shots from the strippers (turning his head to try and refuse and eventually relenting when they wouldn't leave him alone). The other friends there said they were uncomfortable with the situation. When I confronted Jake later, he said he never made that promise about the strippers and didn't apologize for it. I will likely die mad about this.
Later on, Jake talked Frank into investing several hundred dollars into a bitcoin project so that Jake could get to a higher buy-in level, or some such nonsense, which immediately failed.
Now, Jake talked Frank into starting a new online project with him, and Frank and I had to get a friend to help us manage the online presence because Jake doesn't believe in social media (although he did use one account personally to message women, nothing untoward, but still made us uncomfortable that he was doing it to begin with). Jake has promised to record live in-person events they host because he doesn't want to be on camera, and then left me to both record and manage the event because he had to take care of something else in the area. And then had the audacity to complain about the way we packed up the camera gear when he collected it hours after the event ended.
Part of this project included doing live collaboration videos with other people across the country, George (28M) and Michelle (29F), no webcams for Jake, because Jake and cameras don't mix. Frank was uncomfortable with this at first and asked Jake not to do this, but Jake went ahead with it anyway, and had Frank participate. George and Michelle are pretty chill, and we've all talked regularly and become friends.
Now George and Michelle have bought plane tickets and are coming to meet us. We're putting them up in our house. This visit coincides with Frank's 30th birthday.
Jake has just told us that he won't be coming to celebrate Frank's birthday, because George and Michelle will be there and he has no interest in actually meeting people from his online project.
They're staying in our house for several days. We're picking them up from the airport. All he has to do is show up for an hour or two and go home on one of those days.
Frank has tried to explain this to Jake, but Jake's doubling down. Now he says that he feels that they're weird. And it makes him uncomfortable. And we planned this all without him, even though he had previously said he'd be able to meet them in person if they ever came over to visit. And, of course, he's claiming that he never said that.
Obviously, I cannot make Jake do anything he is uncomfortable with. Jake's his own person who makes his own decisions.
But I'm tired of Jake using Frank's friendship and betraying Frank's trust. I want to talk to Jake, but I'm not sure how and not sure if I should. Jake knows he's on thin ice with me in perpetuity because of the bachelor party, and I would never think of him again if I could help it, but Jake is a critical part of making the online project, which Frank now really enjoys, work.
Should I step into this situation? Should I make Jake understand that he has to live with the consequences of his own decisions? What might reasonable consequences be? I'm feeling very unreasonable right now.
TLDR; My husband's childhood best friend won't come to my husband's milestone birthday party because people we know from online will be there. I'm trying to find a good way to talk to the friend about the situation, if I should talk to the friend at all.

The way it looks to me is:
The unclaimed tokens went back to the issuer (as clearly stated in the bitcointalk thread: https://puu.sh/F79rk/ade621ced1.png) so nobody can claim that they were "unrightfully taken". It was very clear that these would be "donations", which can mean pretty much anything. David could have just taken the money and left. Instead he used these funds to establish the hardware side of IOTA research - JINN. I guess cfb was okay with david having the tokens because after all they were fighting for a common cause - the success of the IOTA protocol and as long as the funds are used to help the tech it doesn't really matter who has the keys, right (by that time they most probably felt like they are a "team")?
David most probably ended up being the one responsible because somebody just had to do the stupid job of setting up the company and everything to make it legally correct - nobody knew that it would be worth millions of dollars then.
Now that JINN went belly up due to personal issues that we all know, cfb claims that half of these "donations" (or all?) belong to him personally and that David owes him these funds. I am having a hard time understanding the reasoning behind this, as the funds were obviously always considered to be used to "help the IOTA ecosystem". This is also what David has now officially claimed to do - use these funds to support IOTA.

maybe I can leak one thing about IOTA's sharding solution without giving away too much: Every single node can individually decide how much data it wants to process - so you can have very very resource-constrained nodes like sensors and stuff in the same network as nodes with hundreds of cores and they will be able to work together seamlessly
there will essentially be no "minimum hardware requirements" for a node (of course you have "some" requirements to even be able to run some kind of logic)

I think that one of the things where cfb and me disagree regarding the "vision of IOTA" is that he think thats we should "finalize" the protocol as soon as possible (or "set it in stone" as he likes to call it), so hardware manufacturer can start to build hardware, whereas I think that it makes much more sense for it to be something like an "open evolving standard" that is so flexible that you can literally build whatever the fuck you want based on this protocol.
The internet wouldn't have been the internet, if it would have "just" been for sending scientific messages between researchers.
I can not anticipate and know what humans might do with DLT in the future, so limiting myself to "only value transfers" is IMHO the wrong decision.

Posting this here since there was a lively discussion on the r/cryptodevs thread (which is a great sub by the way).
I've been working for almost a year now on a platform I call the Ultranet that I'm planning on launching in three weeks on February 25th at 9am Pacific Time. It's a marketplace platform that is fully-decentralized, private, and censorship-resistant and my hope is that it can be the first major marketplace platform that is fully open-source and mutually owned/controlled by the people who run the software and who hold its native hyper-deflationary currency (called Ultra). In other words, a free and open-source/democratic alternative to the existing platform monopolies that are currently owned and controlled by a privileged few (a "platform oligarchy" of sorts).
It works by having each user who runs the software download and store a cryptographically-secured copy of all of the listings, orders, ratings, and all other marketplace data through a concept I introduce in the paper called a "block pool." This means that as long as a single node somewhere in the world is running the Ultranet software, all data, including all listings and all reputation data, will be preserved. This is in stark contrast to virtually all platforms that exist today, which are subject to censorship of listings and/or outright take-down, the latter of which results in all reputation data being lost. Moreover, the Ultranet achieves censorship-resistance and privacy (it's pseudo-anonymous like Bitcoin) while maintaining feature parity and user experience parity with existing centralized marketplaces. It also introduces Ultra, a hyper-deflationary cryptocurrency that is burned every time an order is placed on the system and by merchants in order to promote their listings, resulting in increasing scarcity over time (i.e. hyper-deflation). Importantly, the use of a native cryptocurrency allows the value of the network to accrue to its users rather than a privileged few, while also giving people an incentive to use the system early on (thus helping to solve the "platform chicken and egg problem"). Finally, the software has a built-in fully-decentralized exchange mechanism I introduce in the paper called "interchange" that allows users to purchase Ultra using Bitcoin or Monero without any third parties involved, along with a fully-decentralized end-to-end encrypted messaging platform.
I know it's only natural for people to be skeptical when reading a post like this, but I worked really hard on this because I really believe that the direction society is headed under the dominance of "surveillance capitalism" needs to be challenged somehow, and because I thought all of the existing attempts at disrupting things weren't sufficient. As such, having invested a lot of time and energy into trying to engineer a better way, I think the Ultranet and the concepts I introduce in the paper and in the software itself can at least serve as a guide to get us started down a serious path toward a more open and more democratic platform ecosystem.
I'm launching the Ultranet in three weeks on February 25th at 9am Pacific Time, at which point I'm going to make the software available for download on the ultranet.one website. I was going to wait until then to make my first post, but I thought publicizing it a bit before I release the final version of the software could give me a chance to address any last-minute concerns people might have about the first iteration (which is why I'm also releasing the code today; see below).
