It’s quite simple: an Atomic Swap is a trade of one cryptocurrency directly for another, between the two parties wallets..without the use of any intermediary party, token, or exchange.
For example, let’s say Bob wants Bitcoin in exchange for his Litecoin. Sally has Bitcoin and wants to buy some Litecoin. And let’s assume these two don’t know each other so this is a trust-less relationship…and for all intents and purposes, anonymous.
When Bob and Sally perform an Atomic Swap, they each receive their desired token at an agreed upon price, directly between their wallets. The end result: Bob sends Sally Litecoin and receives Bitcoin in his Bitcoin wallet. Sally receives Bob’s Litecoin direct from his LTC wallet into her LTC wallet.

Bitcoin Cash Price Notes Solid Gains but Is It a Pump?
The cryptocurrency markets have seen some very interesting momentum today. A lot of markets are on the rise over the past 24 hours, with Bitcoin Cash showing some much-needed life. It is evident the Bitcoin Cash price still remains relevant, although there is still plenty of opposition for BCH on social media.

Bitcoin Cash Price Pump Intensifies

Despite yielding some very positive results in the end, there was no price action to speak of. Today is a very different day in this regard, as the Bitcoin Cash price is on the rise in rather spectacular fashion.
With a near 20% in USD value and a near 17% gain over Bitcoin, the Bitcoin Cash market sees a lot of trading activity. Even though the trading volume seems on the low side – just $713m despite this hefty increase – there is no real reason to expect nay steep correction just yet. That is when not looking at the various posts on social media which seem to convey how this price increase is a pump more than anything else.
Prior to looking at the technical analysis sentiment surrounding Bitcoin Cash, there is an interesting update from the Gemini exchange. Gemini is adding Litecoin on mid-October of this year. The exchange has also received regulatory approval to list Bitcoin Cash, although no specific plan of action has been unveiled in this regard. That seems to indicate this listing may be imminent, although it will probably not happen prior to Litecoin getting added
On the technical analysis front. DayLait is clearly not a fan of Bitcoin Cash. In fact, his short-term analysis shows BCH may have failed to break some key levels, which will result in a massive retrace over the coming hours. In most cases, a correction will occur after such steep gains, though nothing has been set in stone just yet. It will be interesting to see how the Bitcoin Cash price evolves in the next few days.
Based on the current cryptocurrency market conditions, it wouldn’t be impossible for the Bitcoin Cash price to surpass the $525 level. For the time being, it seems remaining above $500 will be the first order of business, prior to looking for even steeper gains. A correction is all but unavoidable at this stage, although the intensity of the profit-taking has yet to be determined.

Swiss Startup Raises $103 Million to Launch Cryptocurrency Bank
Switzerland-based startup SEBA Crypto AG has raised 100 million Swiss francs ($103 million) to set up a bank offering cryptocurrency-related services, Reuters reported September 26.

bitseven.com - SEBA is reportedly headed by former UBS bankers — Guido Buehler as chief executive and Andreas Amschwand as chairman — and plans to apply for a banking and securities dealer license from Swiss financial market regulator FINMA. A license would allow the firm to conduct crypto trading and investments business for other banks and qualified investors.
Buehler told Reuters that SEBA aims to become a bridge between traditional banking and the cryptocurrency industry. The startup also intends to provide corporate financing, including consultations on Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and other digital asset-related services to corporate clients. Amschwand commented on the project:
“In Switzerland we have commitment from various authorities to establish a comprehensive regulatory environment for the development of blockchain technology and the sustainable, stable growth of crypto assets.”
SEBA is purportedly planning to expand its operations into major financial hubs, starting with Zurich in 2019. Investors who financed SEBA include such firms as BlackRiver Asset Management and Hong Kong-based Summer Capital, along with other parties from Switzerland, Singapore, Malaysia, China and Hong Kong.
Earlier this month, the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA) issued basic guidelines for banks working with blockchain startups in order to prevent a mass crypto exodus from Switzerland due to regulatory arbitrage.
Per the scheme provided by SBA, blockchain firms without Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) should be treated like other small- and medium-sized companies. Firms with ICOs must follow strict rules and fall under the purview of Swiss anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) laws.
In August, the Maerki Baumann private bank began accepting crypto assets from payment received for services rendered, as well as those earned from crypto mining. Maerki Baumann noted that they are not ready to provide direct cryptocurrency investments, but will provide “experts” to clients interested in crypto investing.
In June, Hypothekarbank Lenzburg became the first bank in Switzerland to provide business accounts to blockchain and crypto-related fintech companies. However, the bank is reportedly very selective in accepting new customers, and as of June had taken on only two companies from the crypto industry.

N00b Adventures in nanoland : Pt 1 Escape from Coinbase Basic
So, my original plan was to buy a little intermediary crypto on Coinbase (Eth, for speed, LOL, see below ), then send it to Binance, buy some BNB, then use that to get the 25 % discount on fees (Using their crypto to save on fees is actually a really cool idea, and probably sells a lot of BNB), then buy more Eth on Coinbase Pro as a maker (to avoid the fiat onramp fees), and then send this larger pile of crypto to Binance, to buy some nano, if it went sub $2, but there is an unexpected problem, in addition to the expected delays of needing to go through two services (Coinbase to Binance).
I bought some Eth on Coinbase Basic ($210 worth) a few days ago, it lost $30 while it was in the Coinbase Basic wallet, because I didn't try to move It until I got the referral bonus (which can't move at all, cause you need $25 BTC to move, and the bonus is only $10, and it only comes in the form of Bitcoin, so that 'bonus' is all useless dust to me, so F me on the referral bonus, unless I get two more chumps to use my referral link, LOL). So that was annoying, but today I finally decided to send the ETH I bought a few days ago to Binance, just to test if everything was working right and I would be ready to buy, but it seems Coinbase Basic has put a twenty DAY hold on my initial, rather insignificant (to me) $210 purchase, which came from my checking account, so all my initial supply of My First Crypto and another $30 in value that I have lost in the last few days (so the total hold is the full $210) is being held hostage on Coinbase until close to Halloween (!!)
I still don't know if nano will be at a good price in the future, but I'm fairly certain if it goes much lower than its current price, I'm not gonna have 20 days to masturbate while I wait for my newly deposited fiat/crypto funds to unlock from Coinbase, and still have time to get the price I want. Is there a faster way to do this banking-to-crypto crap, maybe through Coinbase Pro, so I don't have to wait ? I am level 3 verified on Coinbase, and seems that I have all the privileges unlocked in my account, but this is WAY slower than I ever thought it would be, slower than Paypal, or my Bank, or my paycheck...

U.S. judge sides with CFTC on virtual currency oversight

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A federal judge said on Wednesday that virtual currencies meet the definition of a commodity and fall within the jurisdiction of the U.S. derivatives regulator, allowing the agency to pursue fraud allegations against My Big Coin Pay Inc.
The closely watched decision by a U.S. District Court should allow the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to continue to police virtual currency frauds, regulation of which has fallen among several different agencies.
Amid a crackdown on virtual currency scams, the U.S. regulator in January sued technology entrepreneur Randall Crater and a company he founded, alleging they perpetrated a $6 million fraud on people who wanted to buy My Big Coin, an obscure virtual currency.
In its lawsuit against Crater and Nevada-based My Big Coin Pay Inc, the CFTC said the defendants misappropriated $6 million from 28 customers they lured by naming their virtual currency to sound like bitcoin and further claiming it was backed by gold.
Crater's lawyers moved to dismiss the case, arguing that the CFTC had no authority over the virtual currency because it is neither a tangible good nor a service on which future contracts are being traded – the agency's typical enforcement purview.
U.S. District Judge Rya Zobel in Boston said on Wednesday that My Big Coin did meet the Commodity Exchange Act's definition of a commodity, because the law defines commodities in broad categories rather than specific types or brands.
Since both My Big Coin and bitcoin can both be broadly categorized as virtual currencies, and bitcoin futures currently trade on U.S. exchanges, by extension the CFTC has oversight of other virtual currencies including My Big Coin, Zobel found.
“That is sufficient, especially at the pleading stage, for plaintiff to allege that My Big Coin is a 'commodity' under the Act,” she wrote in Wednesday's decision.
Lawyers were watching the decision closely, since a finding in favor of My Big Coin Inc.'s argument to dismiss could have chilled the CFTC's ability to police virtual currency frauds.
Zobel accepted the CFTC's allegations, which have yet to be proven at trial, as true for the purpose of determining if it had jurisdiction. The case may now move forward as a result of the ruling.
“We are disappointed in the result,” said Crater’s lawyer Katherine Cooper in an email.
“Now that we are moving past the motion to dismiss phase of the case, we look forward to challenging the CFTC's ability to prove many of the factual allegations in the complaint. Among those factual allegations are those which speak to the relatedness of bitcoin and My Big Coin and therefore the CFTC’s jurisdiction.”
