WOMEN AND THE CRYPTO INVESTMENT STORY

Only about 15% of Bitcoin traders are women, highlighting a significant gender imbalance in the world of cryptocurrency, according to data from eToro.

internet

To be honest, cryptocurrency, a 21st-century financial tool, is grappling with a problem reminiscent of the 20th century: the lack of female participation. This stems from stereotypes that men are more assertive, risk-taking, and reap greater rewards compared to women. Moreover, the investment world has long been accused of being a “boys’ club” dominated by men.

Specifically, only 15% of Bitcoin traders are women, indicating a significant gender imbalance in the cryptocurrency world, according to research conducted by the investment platform eToro in early 2021. While the percentage of female investors has slightly increased from 10% at the beginning of 2020, reflecting demographic changes amid Bitcoin’s meteoric price rise, this increase remains quite modest.

Bitcoin’s price surge in 2020 led to a wave of new investors signing up on various trading platforms. However, recent data reveals that cryptocurrency’s appeal is still predominantly directed toward men.

eToro, with over 18 million users since its establishment in 2007, is one of the most renowned platforms for cryptocurrency investment, alongside Robinhood and Coinbase.

‘Democratizing’ Bitcoin and Gender

internet

According to Acorn’s Invest, the gender imbalance has impacted the financial services sector for many decades. However, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin have been promoted as a way to democratize a traditionally exclusive field, welcoming new and diverse investors. While only around 11% of people in the United States currently invest in cryptocurrency, the industry has yet to break into the demographic group that is primarily women.

Furthermore, cryptocurrency is the only financial industry with higher participation rates among young people than older ones. Fifteen percent of individuals aged 18 to 34 own cryptocurrency, compared to 11% for those aged 35 to 64 and 4% for those 65 and older. This survey, conducted jointly by CNBC and Acorn’s Invest, took place from August 4 to August 9, 2021, involving 5,530 adult respondents in the United States, including 2,980 who invested in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, or cryptocurrency.

Interestingly, people of all races have an equal likelihood of owning cryptocurrency: 11% of White, Black, and Hispanic individuals, 14% of Asian individuals, and 13% of individuals from other racial backgrounds invest in cryptocurrency. Although cryptocurrency has broken down racial barriers in investing, it has not bridged the gender gap significantly.

The First Glaring Spotlight on Women’s Success in Cryptocurrency Last year. Wirex launched the ‘Women in Crypto’ campaign to raise awareness about the essential role of women in the cryptocurrency space and challenge the gender stereotypes associated with it.

This mission aligns with Wirex’s core mission of empowering everyone to access the benefits of cryptocurrency. Wirex was the first company in the world to develop a cryptocurrency-enabled debit card and cryptocurrency rewards program.

This annual campaign aims to honor outstanding women in the field, acknowledge their achievements, and inspire other women to participate in the cryptocurrency industry. Last year’s list was highly successful, attracting more than 350 nominations from women of various nationalities, backgrounds, and roles. The 2020 winners included Christina Lomazzo, Head of Blockchain at UNICEF; Tonya Evans, Professor at Dickinson Law; and Simone Maini, CEO of Elliptic.

Lottie Wells, Senior PR & Events Manager at the leading company behind this campaign, affirmed, “There is no denying that the digital economy is getting closer to mass adoption, but it is only fair and sustainable if women are also involved.”

It is evident that gender imbalance in the cryptocurrency world has long been discussed in the media, debated by speakers at professional events, and researched by various organizations. However, much work remains to bridge the significant gender gap in how men and women benefit from the cryptocurrency economy.

In my opinion, we will live this life an infinite number of times.

Okay, now I'm going to explain what I mean in more detail, maybe it will be a bit long text, but I am sure it will be worth reading.

First of all, there is only one constant in our lives, in the world and in the universe and that is the cycle. You can see the cycle everywhere.

Let me explain:

Cycles are a widespread and fundamental phenomenon in the universe. The presence of cycles is observed and scientifically explained in different systems and fields. Both in natural events and human-related processes, the influence of these cycles can be observed.

Examples:

  1. In nature, seasons occur in a cyclical manner. The cycle of seasons, influenced by the position of the sun and the tilt of the Earth's axis, has noticeable effects on climate and vegetation. This cycle repeats within a specific timeframe and contributes to the balance of natural ecosystems.
  2. The water cycle is referred to as the hydrological cycle. It consists of stages such as the evaporation of water into the atmosphere, the formation of clouds, precipitation, and the return of water to the Earth's surface. This process plays a critical role in renewing water resources and maintaining the water balance.
  3. Cycles also play an important role in technological processes. For example, the concept of a circular economy aims to sustainably use resources. This approach promotes recycling and extending the lifespan of resources by creating a circular system in production, consumption, and waste management processes.
  4. Biological cycles govern the flow of energy and nutrients in ecosystems. The food chain enables the transfer of energy from one organism to another, and this cycle repeats continuously. For instance, plants produce organic compounds through photosynthesis, utilizing solar energy. These organic substances are then consumed by animals in the food chain, and eventually, decomposers break them down, returning the nutrients back into the cycle.

As you can see, cycles provide balance and continuity in the universe. They arise as a consequence of natural laws and are studied in various disciplines. Scientific methods and mathematical modeling help us understand the characteristics and dynamics of cycles.

So we have understood what a cycle is and reinforced it with examples, now let's move on to the next chapter.

As you know, consciousness originates directly from the brain and is associated with brain activity. The interactions between neurons in the brain are correlated with thought processes and conscious experiences. Being a physical entity, the brain is seen as a fundamental component of the phenomenon of consciousness.

--------------------------------

If you think that consciousness is not stored in the brain but in the soul or something else spiritual, I will copy and paste my previous text about this, please read it:

  • Brain Injuries and Changes in Consciousness: Individuals with brain injuries often experience significant changes in their level of consciousness. For example, after a traumatic brain injury, individuals may lose consciousness or have partial or complete loss of consciousness. This indicates that consciousness is directly related to brain activity. If consciousness resided in the soul, brain injuries would not affect it.
  • Drugs and Alterations in Consciousness: Certain psychotropic drugs can induce changes in consciousness by affecting brain chemistry. For instance, when hallucinogens are used, individuals may experience altered and different states of consciousness. This indicates that consciousness is dependent on the chemical balance in the brain and therefore not connected to the soul.
  • Neurological Associations: Neurological studies that examine brain activity have shown that conscious experiences are associated with specific brain regions. For example, when brain regions responsible for visual processing are activated, individuals have visual conscious experiences. This indicates that consciousness is tied to the functioning of the brain and not connected to the soul.
  • Developmental Perspective: Consciousness is intricately tied to the development of the brain. This perspective indicates that as the brain matures and undergoes various stages of growth, consciousness emerges and evolves accordingly. Throughout embryonic development, the neural structures and networks responsible for processing sensory information and generating conscious experiences gradually form. During early stages of development, basic forms of consciousness, such as rudimentary awareness and responsiveness to stimuli, emerge. As the brain continues to develop, higher-order cognitive functions associated with self-awareness, introspection, and complex thought processes develop as well. This progression suggests a strong correlation between brain maturation and the complexity of conscious experiences.
  • Moreover, empirical evidence supports the link between brain development and consciousness. Studies have shown that premature infants, whose brains are still in the early stages of development, exhibit limited conscious awareness compared to full-term infants. As the brain continues to develop outside the womb, conscious experiences become more elaborate and nuanced.
  • Additionally, changes in consciousness can be observed in individuals as they age or experience brain injuries or neurodegenerative diseases. For example, conditions like Alzheimer's disease, which primarily affects brain structures involved in memory and cognition, lead to significant alterations in consciousness and cognitive abilities.
  • In summary, the developmental perspective on consciousness emphasizes the progressive nature of its emergence and the strong correlation with the maturation and functionality of the brain. The intricate relationship between brain development, conscious experiences, and alterations in consciousness due to aging or brain pathologies provides compelling evidence that consciousness is a fundamental aspect of brain functioning rather than an entity residing in the soul.

--------------------------------

Now that we know that consciousness is in the brain, let's get to the most crucial part.

A individual is essentially a brain because consciousness is there. And the structure of the atoms that form that brain essentially creates us. For instance, what sets apart one person from another is the difference in the atomic structure of their respective brains. The brain of individual X, whom we refer to as person X, has an atomic structure X, whereas the brain of individual Y, whom we refer to as person Y, has an atomic structure Y. Therefore, these two individuals are not the same person.

Let's stop here because you probably have this existential question: If we somehow cloned the brain of person X, would that person be person X or someone else?

Theoretically, if person X's brain were cloned, the cloned brain would have the same atomic structure and organization. But in this case, the cloned brain would be a copy of person X's brain structure. So it will not be the same person. Person X will remain person X, and its clone will now be person X-2.

I would also like to say that when we clone person X's brain after person X dies, it will not be person X again, it will only be a clone of person X. So how does person X come back after death? I will explain this in the rest of the post.

Let's continue where we left off. As I said, an individual is essentially a brain, and the structure of the atoms that make up that brain forms the foundation of our existence. Every person's brain is a complex structure formed by the arrangement of atoms. Atoms are the fundamental building blocks, consisting of a nucleus and orbiting electrons. Atoms come together to form molecules through chemical bonds. These molecules constitute the building blocks of neurons and other cells. The brain is a complex network of these neurons, giving rise to consciousness, thought, and emotional experiences and each individual's brain structure is unique. The arrangement of atoms is influenced by genetic factors, environmental influences, and experiences. As a result, the atomic arrangement in the brains of person X and person Y is different, allowing them to be unique individuals.

Now that we have learned about the cycle, that consciousness is in the brain, and the brain is you, now we will take up physics and cosmology. I will also make subjective and hypothetical statements after this point.

There are many theories and speculations about the nature and future of the universe. According to my view, the universe will eventually cease to exist at a certain point and then experience another big bang, with this cycle repeating infinitely. This hypothesis predicts that the universe will continuously go through phases of expansion and contraction in an infinite cycle.

Why do I think this way?

As I mentioned at the beginning of the text, cycles are everywhere. I also believe that this applies to the existence of life in the universe.

Now let's talk about the ultimate fate of the universe. There are theories about how the universe will end, such as the Big Bounce, Big Freeze, Big Crunch, and Big Rip. However, only one of these theories concerns us, and that is the Big Bounce.

Big Bounce proposes that the universe goes through cycles of expansion and contraction, without a definitive beginning or end. It suggests that the universe we observe today emerged from a previous contraction phase, known as the Big Crunch, and will eventually undergo another contraction phase leading to a new expansion, or Big Bounce.

To understand the basis of the Big Bounce theory, we need to delve into the principles of general relativity and quantum mechanics. General relativity, formulated by Albert Einstein, describes gravity as the curvature of spacetime caused by mass and energy. It provides a framework for understanding the large-scale structure of the universe and how it evolves over time.

Quantum mechanics, on the other hand, is the branch of physics that deals with the behavior of particles at the atomic and subatomic scales. It provides insights into the fundamental nature of matter and energy, as well as the probabilistic behavior of particles.

In the early stages of the universe, when densities and energies were extremely high, both general relativity and quantum mechanics become crucial for understanding its dynamics. However, at such extreme conditions, the effects of gravity and quantum mechanics interact in ways that are not yet fully understood, and this is one of the challenges in formulating a complete theory of the Big Bounce.

During the expansion phase of the universe, the distances between galaxies and other cosmic structures increase, and the universe becomes less dense and cooler over time. This expansion is driven by the repulsive effect of dark energy, a hypothetical form of energy that permeates space and causes it to expand at an accelerating rate.

As the universe expands, matter and radiation become diluted, and the universe enters a phase known as the "dark era" when the formation of new stars and galaxies becomes less frequent. Ultimately, the expansion may slow down and come to a halt, leading to a contraction phase.

During the contraction phase, gravity plays a dominant role, causing matter and energy to become more concentrated. The universe becomes denser and hotter as it contracts. This phase is often referred to as the Big Crunch, similar to a reverse of the Big Bang.

According to the Big Bounce theory, the contraction phase does not result in a singularity or a complete collapse of the universe. Instead, it leads to a transition point where the universe reverses its course and begins expanding again, undergoing a new cycle of expansion and contraction. This transition from contraction to expansion is known as the Big Bounce.

Of course, it is important to consider other possibilities. Let's say we were mistaken and the Big Bounce theory is not true. In that case, there is no need to worry. Yes, other theories suggest that the universe will completely cease to exist, but theoretically, the possibility of another big bang is also plausible.

Let's take a look at the most famous theories: Big Freeze, Big Rip and Big Crunch.

  1. Big Freeze: The Big Freeze theory predicts that the universe will enter an infinite expansion and cooling process. The expansion of the universe slows down due to the effect of gravity and eventually comes to a halt. In this scenario, the matter and energy in the universe gradually cool down, and entropy (disorder) increases. As a result, there are no energy sources left in the universe, and the temperature approaches nearly zero. In the Big Freeze scenario, the universe runs out of energy, leading to a significant cooling and an increase in disorder when the expansion stops. In this situation, due to the extremely low energy density and temperature in the universe, it seems highly unlikely for another Big Bang to occur. In short, bye-bye. But maybe as a possibility, if everything in the universe were to suddenly vanish, similar to the outcome of the Big Rip scenario, there could be a possibility of a big bang occurring. I have explained this idea in more detail below, in the Big Rip section.
  2. Big Rip: The Big Rip theory predicts that the expansion rate of the universe will continuously accelerate due to the influence of dark energy, a mysterious form of energy present in the universe. The expansion rate of the universe increases over time with the effect of dark energy, and eventually, matter, planets, stars, and even atoms can be torn apart. In the process, the structure of the universe completely disintegrates. At this point, there is no matter or energy left in the universe. Therefore, it is not possible for another Big Bang to occur after the Big Rip. However, one theoretical possibility can be raised at this point: As you know, the Big Bang theory is widely accepted as the explanation for the origin of the universe. According to this theory, the universe originated from a dense and hot point, expanding and cooling over time. However, we still don't know exactly how that point came into existence. If that point emerged from nothingness, as I mentioned earlier, stating that everything would cease to exist after the Big Rip, then it is possible for a point to emerge from nothingness again, leading to another big bang.
  3. Big Crunch: The Big Crunch theory predicts that instead of expansion, the universe will contract under the dominant influence of gravity and eventually all matter and energy will converge at a single point. At this point, all the content present in the universe condenses, and density and temperature reach incredibly high levels. In the Big Crunch scenario, a significant explosion similar to a previous state of the universe can occur.

As you can see, the possibility of a big bang exists in all three scenarios. However, I would like to clarify that I do not provide any guarantees; I am not an insurance. Perhaps there may never be another big bang after the universe ceases to exist, but I don't believe so.

And don't worry, we're getting close to the end of this post, at least I think so, so let's put everything together.

Stages of the Big Bounce

Now let's take a look at the Cycle of Life in chronological order. I have already created a picture, you can look at it:

The Cycle of Life

Some of you may not have understood the cycle explained superficially in this picture, so now I will explain it in more detail:

My theory indicates that life follows a cyclical pattern starting from the Big Bang, leading to the formation of the universe, our galaxy (the Milky Way), the formation of the solar system, and eventually the creation of Earth. After the formation of Earth, abiogenesis occurs, giving rise to life, followed by the process of evolution, leading to the current form of human beings. Subsequently, humans develop, establish civilizations, and eventually, you are born. You live your life and eventually pass away. After some time, the Earth ceases to exist. Eventually, the solar system, our galaxy, and finally, the universe itself, cease to exist. If the concept of the Big Bounce is correct, there could be another big bang, leading to a new cycle. If the Big Bounce theory is not real, I mentioned in the middle of the text that there is still a possibility of another big bang occurring. You can read it again.

Consequently, we can hypothesize that time may engage in a circular motion, resembling more of a torus or progressing like a Möbius strip. Normally, of course, time progresses and ends in a linear manner according to human perception, but here, I have bent and connected the beginning and end of the line. Thus, I have transformed it into a circle, or as I said, more resembling a torus.

However, it is important to remember that scientifically, the nature of time is more complex. The theory of relativity has shown that time can vary depending on factors such as velocity, mass, and gravity. For example, the flow of time can differ in high-speed or strong gravitational fields.

Therefore, it would be more accurate to express that time is perceived as linear according to human perception, rather than stating that time progresses in a straight line. People perceive time as linear in their daily lives, but the true nature of time is more complex and can vary contextually.

Bonus =) A gif explaining the reservation process at the Milliways restaurant. If you are not familiar with it, this is a reference to the TV series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I am sure you have a counter-argument in mind, so let me answer before you do:

Yes, if there is a big bang again, it will be the same universe. I will explain this, but at the same time, let's say the second Big Bang created another universe, I will also address this scenario, and I believe it will be the most intriguing part of the text.

Theory 1: The Possibility of the Same Universe Formation

According to this theory, when the universe collapses through a process called the Big Bounce and undergoes another Big Bang, it is possible for the exact same universe to reemerge. This theory assumes that the universe progresses cyclically between expansion and collapse during the Big Bounce process. Here are some key points supporting this theory:

  • Universal-Scale Similarities: During the Big Bounce process, the collapse and subsequent expansion of the universe may preserve similarities in the evolution of the universe. These similarities can be observed in areas such as the distribution of galaxies, the characteristics of the cosmic microwave background radiation, and the formation of other cosmic structures. There are two things that constitute similarity on a universal scale: symmetry and invariance.
  1. Symmetry, in physics, refers to the idea that certain properties or aspects of a system remain unchanged under specific transformations or operations. For example, rotational symmetry implies that the laws of physics governing a system remain the same even when the system is rotated. In the case of the same universe formation, it is assumed that the fundamental symmetries of the laws of physics, such as conservation of energy, momentum, and angular momentum, are preserved across the cycles.
  2. Invariance, on the other hand, is closely related to symmetry and refers to the constancy or preservation of certain quantities or properties. In the context of the same universe formation, invariance suggests that the essential features, properties, and dynamics of the universe are maintained despite the cyclic nature of expansion and collapse. This implies that the laws of physics themselves do not change or evolve over time, ensuring the preservation of the fundamental principles that govern the universe
  3. The assumption of symmetry and invariance is motivated by the desire to maintain consistency and continuity in the universe's behavior and characteristics. By assuming that the laws of physics remain the same across cycles, it allows for the possibility of the same universe reemerging after the Big Bounce. This idea implies that the physical processes, particles, forces, and structures that exist in one cycle would be reproduced in subsequent cycles, resulting in remarkable similarities between them.
  • Quantum Cosmology: Quantum cosmology emphasizes the importance of quantum effects in the early stages of the universe. Quantum fluctuations and effects can play a role in determining the initial conditions of the universe during the Big Bounce process. If these quantum effects are repeated cyclically in a similar manner, the likelihood of the exact replication of the universe increases.
  • Expansion and Collapse Rates of the Universe: The rates of expansion and collapse of the universe play a significant role in determining the initial conditions. If these rates vary in a specific pattern and proportion, the possibility of the exact replication of the universe becomes more likely.
  • Fundamental Physical Laws of the Universe: The cyclical preservation of the fundamental physical laws of the universe increases the likelihood of the reemergence of the exact same universe. If the physical laws are conserved cyclically, the overall structure and evolution of the universe can occur in a similar manner.According to this theory, after the universe collapses through a Big Bounce process, if another Big Bang occurs, the exact same universe can potentially reemerge.

Theory 2: The Possibility of the Different Universe Formation

And we have reached the most intriguing part of the text. What I'm about to share will truly expand your horizons.

Now let's say we were wrong, and the same universe didn't come into existence again, but a completely separate universe was formed. In that case, most likely neither you, nor I, nor even the Earth or the Milky Way galaxy would exist in this universe. Does it sound scary? No, no, no, don't think that way, just keep reading.

This universe will live for a certain period of time, and how long it lasts is not our concern. What concerns us is the fact that according to the Big Bounce theory, this universe will eventually die and another Big Bang will occur. Even if the Big Bounce theory turns out to be false, as I mentioned before, it's not a problem because I already explained that the universe will continue in a cycle of existence, life, death, and rebirth forever.

Let's say we didn't exist in this universe, no problem. We might exist in the next universe, but if things didn't go as we wanted there either and we still couldn't exist? Still, no problem. Since this process continues infinitely, at some point, we will definitely experience the universe we desire again because an infinite number of Big Bangs means an infinite universe and an infinite universe means infinite possibilities. This means we will live countless different lives. Forexample, in the 89650th Big Bang, a universe is formed where everything is just as we desired, including the Milky Way galaxy, Earth, your parents, and eventually, you. But wait, there's more. Your father, after you were born (this is important), purchased a substantial amount of Bitcoin in the early 2010s. You're lucky because a good life awaits you as you grow up. However, if your father had bought that Bitcoin before you were born, you probably wouldn't exist because destiny would have been altered.

I hope you understand what I mean. It's like a kind of parallel universes theory, but only one universe where all possibilities unfold. So there are no multiple universes. You can think of it that way. I think I didn't explain this part very well, but whatever. Nevertheless, because I have some doubts, I still prefer the universe to form exactly the same way.

And that's the end of the text. Thank you for reading. I apologize in advance for any grammatical errors as English is not my native language. Also, if you have any questions, feel free to ask, and I'll be happy to answer. I may not be able to respond immediately since I'm not always available due to work. Other than that, yeah, take care of yourself.
