There are ongoing giveaway scams on youtube and many scammers lurking in Cardano's social channels impersonating ambassadors/moderators/official staff contacting users via direct messages.

For example, searching 'cardano' on youtube and sorting by most recent upload date shows several giveaway scams running (all videos in screenshot are scams):

The youtube scams are automated; use stolen footage usually of Charles Hoskinson and are restreamed so to appear to be 'live'; appear to have many watchers (which are bots); use bought hacked channels and are edited to appear like official channels.

Midnight Subreddit

In anticipation of Input Output's new data protection blockchain 'Midnight', I've managed to acquire r/Midnight through some negotiation and repurpose it for the Cardano Community (the sub was created for a card game back in 2011 but was mostly unused).

I decided to do this as I thought the project will eventually need a home on reddit and best to setup now before any scammers do. Obviously there's not much to post about on there right now as it's early days as the project is yet to be released, but if you'd like to be kept up to date on the project please feel free to join the new subreddit if the project interests you and I'll be sure to post updates as and when they become available.

Right now the sub is mostly a carbon copy of r/cardano, I've copied most of the automod and rules over, so certain aspects may seem a little incongruent atm, but I'll tailor and tweak the sub as we go. Feel free to send me or post any input if you want stuff to change.

Increased Interest Rates in the First Quarter of 2023

There will be a 7% yearly interest rate increase that will be compounded daily for both overpayments and underpayments.

For overpayments, it will be 7%, and for companies, 6%.
The rate is 4.5% for business overpayments exceeding $10000.
The rate for underpayments is 7%. By underpayments, we imply taxes that are only partially covered.

SoFi Technologies (NASDAQ:SOFI) rose as much as 4% in afternoon trading on Tuesday following reports that conservative justices were skeptically questioning President Biden's plan to forgive billions of dollars of student debt. SoFi is a known player for refinancing student loans, with SA contributors like Data Driven Investing recently pointing out that growth at its lending arm should accelerate again when the student loan moratorium expires in the back half of the year. Other related stocks were less affected by the opening arguments at SCOTUS, such as Navient (NASDAQ:NAVI), Nelnet (NYSE:NNI) and SLM Corp. (NASDAQ:SLM), which closed the session around the flatline.

Snapshot: Chief Justice John Roberts led the conservative justices, who comprise a majority of the court, in examining whether the Biden administration has the authority to cancel federal student loans as a result of the COVID-19 emergency. Roberts, in his questioning of the White House's top Supreme Court lawyer, suggested that the administration had exceeded its authority. Roberts also contended that a program as large as Biden's student loan forgiveness plan, which is estimated to cost $430B over three decades, should be something that casual observers would expect Congress to take up. "If you're going to affect the obligations of that many Americans on a subject that's of great controversy, they would think that's something for Congress to act on," he said.

In addition to the debate over whether the Biden administration has the authority to forgive the debt, the court also must decide on whether the states and two individuals suing the government have the legal right, or standing, to sue (parties generally have to prove that they would suffer financial harm from the action). The administration has said it's acting in accordance with the Heroes Act, a 2003 law that allows the Secretary of Education to waive or modify terms of federal student loans in connection with a national emergency. The law was primarily intended to protect service members from financial harm while they were serving in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Outlook: The concept of student debt cancellation, even if it would pass through Congress, has divided the country. Some say it would benefit borrowers at a time of high inflation, or lead to financial stability and economic security. Others have flagged it as another contributor to higher prices, or an unfair measure for those that chose not to go to college because of the cost, don't have loans or already paid them off. The Federal Reserve estimated that Americans owed $1.76T in student loans in the fourth quarter of 2022, with the average student loan debt around $40,000 per borrower. (125 comments)

BTC price needs to close February above 50-month trend line — Analysis

Bitcoin (BTC) faced a showdown with a key trend line on Feb. 28 as the monthly close finally arrived.

Bitcoin “doesn’t feel bullish” into February close

Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView showed BTC/USD circling an area around $23,500 at the Wall Street open.

With United States stocks flat and the U.S. dollar avoiding a return to strength, eyes were on Bitcoin to preserve its gains through last-minute volatility.

“Would like to see more Bitcoin bid liquidity enter the active trading range to increase the chances of closing the Monthly candle above the 50-Month Moving Average,” monitoring resource Material Indicators wrote in one of several Twitter posts on the day.

“Volume has been weak, so at this stage doesn’t feel bullish.”

An accompanying chart showed BTC/USD bid and ask levels on the Binance order book.

Material Indicators noted that the month of March held a key macroeconomic event in the form of the Federal Reserve’s next decision on interest rate hikes. This was due on March 22 courtesy of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC).

“Close above the 50-Month MA = Bullish Close below $23,128 = Red and an invitation to retest key support levels,” part of another post continued.

“Close between the 50-Month MA – $23,128 = Green Monthly close and range to the next rate hike around the March 22nd FOMC meeting.”

Scott Melker, the trader and podcast host known as “The Wolf Of All Streets,” meanwhile, demanded more of spot price, calling the area immediately above “no man’s land.”

“Bullish breaker (red zone) holding as support at the moment. Still in no man’s land between $21,473 and $25,212,” he commented on a chart showing target levels.

All quiet on the macro landscape

A lack of direction in the U.S. dollar, meanwhile, removed a potential headache for risk asset bulls on the day.
