Yup and most "money" doesn't really exist either. So if people have forethought about such an event, like hundreds of thousands of us tried to get out cash before it, it still wouldn't be possible because it doesn't truly exist; even the banks themselves only carry very small amounts (I don't think most even have the whole bank robbery type of vault anymore either). There'd be a bank run and a panic to try to buy stuff before everyone else finds out about the "event" but after it wouldn't matter anymore. If it happened suddenly and instantly, then we're all screwed anyway, depending on what happened. I'd hope all the people on Wall Street end up dying because they have zero actual survival skills and never truly produced anything physical for life. All the folks in the middle of no where would survive longer and wouldn't care about money/currency. They'd be bartering, if ever.

The cool thing about Bitcoin is that if some computers managed to survive and we got electricity again, the blockchain/ledger would have a record of everything since the beginning and it would be easier to start the electronic aspect of money again (sending/receiving over a distance).
