Bitcoin's simplicity allows everyone in the world to participate. All you need is a wallet to start accepting and spending bitcoin using your mobile phone. The beauty is the simplicity. Even grandma and little Johnny can use bitcoin.

Lightning Network is complicated enough to ensure that bitcoin adoption reaches Fidonet levels.

Here's an example of how Lightning works against adoption. The person posting this "guide" https://imgur.com/a/R5YmLXk advertises it for non-technical users. But, when you go through it, it's a major deterrent. You're downloading code from github, you're running LND, you're monitoring the LND output window, you're letting your node sync, when it crashes you're restarting. And that's just step 1. If you manage to get through all 4 steps, you might have something very buggy running on a desktop computer. So you're not mobile and you're not carrying any bitcoin with you.
