I know this girl who used to work with me and then became a yoga instructor and after, began running some tech industry coaching/influencer thing, which is almost real life foreshadowing but whatever. I think it's how she plans to make money because the events she runs for it cost about $100 or more for a zoom call.
I see her Instagram story one day where she's on video talking about giving some lady who's a "Bitcoin investor" $1000 and having $10,000 returned to her, so I'm already thinking oh this chick has gone off the deep end now. The next story slide is her rifling through a bunch of $100s saying how this is a great investment and all the posts link to some bougie looking girls account that's private.
I've seen many garbage ads like this in the past so I know they're bullshit, but I flip back just to see it one more time and sure enough she's promoting it on video
The next day I see her LinkedIn saying her Instagram got "hacked" and someone was posting "Bitcoin scams" under her name, and she wanted to know how she could contact Facebook to get her account back.
I ran back to Instagram as fast as I could to double check her story and the one where her face was on video was now gone, but the other posts were all still linking to the same Bitcoin scammer account, but I SWEAR I saw her face on video the day before saying the words "I sent her $1000 to invest and she sent me back $10,000"
Now she seems to have control of her Instagram again and there are many responses to her LinkedIn post in support of her "getting her account back" and asking how she did it, but she gives no answer.
I'm thinking it's possible that she did get hacked, but that could've been a side effect of what I think really happened, which was either give this person $1000 and have it stolen along with her login, or she may have never actually "invested" and was merely supporting a scam by promoting it with the promise of getting paid, but still somehow lost her login to the scammer that way. This is the only way I can think to explain how she could've both been on video promoting it, and then not been able to remove the other posts I saw after she realized it was a scam and used LinkedIn to try to backtrack after the video of her face had expired.
