Stellar Weekly Roundup — week of May 22, 2026

DTCC announced it will connect its tokenization service to Stellar in H1 2027 with SEC approval in hand and 50+ institutional partners aligned; Bermuda went live with the first government-run on-chain digital dollar built on Stellar and USDC; and SCF's May Demo Day marked 50 funded projects reaching Stellar mainnet.

Wall Street Onchain: DTCC and Stellar

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation announced plans to tokenize DTC-custodied assets on Stellar, targeting H1 2027. The SEC approved DTCC's tokenization service in December 2025. Initial assets in scope include Russell 1000 constituents, ETFs, and U.S. Treasuries; existing investor protections are preserved.

More than 50 institutional partners are aligned with the launch. The move connects Stellar to post-trade infrastructure that handles trillions in annual settlement. María Ariza discussed the mechanics in Stellar House Sessions: atomic settlement removes friction from trading infrastructure while tokenization creates fractional access to illiquid asset classes like private equity and real estate.

Sovereign Finance and Impact Pilots

Bermuda is building what CoinDesk describes as the world's first fully on-chain economy, powered by a sovereign digital dollar on Stellar and USDC infrastructure. The government airdropped $100 to residents and is now accepting digital assets for taxes starting at the DMV; contract and securities legislation updates are in progress. A SALT panel with Bermuda's premier and central bank CEO described the regulatory approach: publish clear rules, then let companies operate.

In Northwest Haiti, Mercy Corps Ventures launched a blockchain-based digital cash pilot serving 200 vulnerable rural women, using Bousol, a Stellar-based app. The pilot delivers stablecoin transfers in a region where conventional banking is effectively absent.

DeFi Infrastructure and SCF Milestone

Templar Protocol walked through a chain-abstracted lending design in a BuildOnStellar X Space: users borrow USDC and Paxos USD against Bitcoin, XLM, Cardano, Ripple, and Stellar RWAs, with no bridges or wrapped assets. Near's MPC network handles cross-chain asset custody. Isolated market design separates risk by asset class, enabling cleaner LTV ratios.

SCF's May Demo Day went live on May 27, featuring six mainnet-live projects and a milestone: 50 SCF-funded projects have launched on Stellar mainnet in 2026. Across three rounds, SCF has awarded $7.7M to approximately 75 projects. Presenting teams included ContentDAO, normalfi, Reyts, Peridot Protocol, and Socket.fi. Developer Infrastructure

SDF published Stellar Skills, an AI-ready documentation hub organizing Stellar-specific patterns, SDKs, and best practices for AI agents and developers. The site covers Soroban, wallets, asset operations, RPC, and community tools including Trustless Work escrow. The resource addresses a documented gap: AI coding tools lacked Stellar-specific context for safe, idiomatic development.

Enrique Arrieta (@earrietadev) from Creit Tech joined an X Space to discuss the tooling his team maintains: xBull wallet, Stellar Wallet Kit (5,000-7,000 weekly downloads), Router SDK, and Soroban Domains. Much of this infrastructure runs inside other Stellar projects without attribution. Arrieta described the team's approach: identify a gap, build the fix.

The Boundless x Trustless Work Hackathon closed with 31 projects from 114 Nigerian builders, spanning eight escrow use case themes including freelance payments, AI agent task payments, and parametric insurance logic. Conductor took the grand prize. In Brazil, the Stellar37° accelerator selected 20 startups from 95 applicants; Nearx is hosting Pitch Night on June 11 in Rio de Janeiro for investors.

Stellar Chile, Stellar Brazil, and Stellar East Africa each held weekly community calls. Stellar Türkiye is coordinating attendees for the Stellar Party at Feriye Palace in Istanbul on June 4.
