Ripple has released XRapid

The release, which happened on Monday, is based on XRP (the third-most valuable crypocurrency by market capitalization behind Bitcoin and Ethereum, but whose regulatory fate still remains uncertain) and is designed to enable financial firms and other organizations to make quicker and cheaper international payments. Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple’s CEO, was abuzz about the launch of XRapid at his company’s Swell event in San Francisco on Monday, saying “The industry needs to mature and be less dependent on speculative trading and more dependent on solving real problems for real customers.” What do you think of this statement? Do you think too much of a risk was taken in placing so much energy into a cryptocurrency whose legal status is in limbo? Or do you believe it is just preparing for an evitable rise in XRP?
