FAQ

  • What is Tron?

Here is a Whitepaper technical summary of the Tron Project: https://tron.network/static/doc/white_paper_v_2_0.pdf

Tron is a project dedicated to decentralizing the web. Today, much of our data and Internet traffic is highly centralized and this creates a challenge for combating censorship and control by groups of few. Tron's vision is for an Internet much more resistant to censorship and decentralizing data and services, tipping control back to the individual user. Tron is a blockchain technology that uses the DPOS consensus algorithm. Delegrated Proof of Stake on Tron uses 27 publicly elected Super Representative nodes to verify transactions with a benchmarked capacity of over 2000 Transactions Per Second. Compared to Ethereum's 25 transaction per second capacity and Bitcoin's 5 TPS, Tron clearly pulls ahead in being capable of handling scaling adoption.

Tron's massive TPS capabilities will be integrated with the established BitTorrent network. This in turn will leverage integration with smart contracts on the Tron Network to incentivize seeding of desirable files. This will strengthen torrent swarms and improve decentralization of data in an open economy. This platform will ultimately aim to provide media-rich content in a decentralized manner, fueling dAPPS with a focus on gaming and content delivery.

  • How do I create a wallet?

Check out any of the numerous open source wallets available HERE.

  • How does block processing work on Tron?

Transactions are processed by 27 Super Representative high-powered nodes. Any node running on this chain will forward transactions in a swarm pattern. Blocks are signed by the Super Representatives and transactions packaged into a new block, issued every 3 seconds. This means When you transact on Tron, your transactions are processed within SECONDS not minutes. This is great for developers wanting to create more responsive dAPPS and services.

  • Who can run as a Super Representative Candidate?

Anyone may become a candidate for a Super Representative seat. Elections are continuously running on the network, with each tabulation and cycle occurring automatically every 6 hours. The top 27 candidates with the most votes are in an elected status and responsible for block generation. A very common way to obtain status as an SR is to promise the voters rewards in exchange for their votes. You can read below for more information on SR Rewards.

  • How do I vote for a Super Representative?

Voting is done through any Tron wallet that supports voting. It is a function directly on the blockchain and once you vote, you do not need to re-issue your votes unless you want to change your vote. This means if you vote for Candidate A and they provide a given amount of reward tokens, you do not need to re-vote for them to continue receiving rewards. Always check with who you are voting for to determine their reward structure.

Voting is enabled when you freeze your TRX. This action can be done through any modern Tron wallet found HERE. Votes are proportional to the TRX you have frozen 1:1. If you own more TRX, you have more votes to cast.

  • What kind of vote incentives do Super Representatives offer?

Many Super Representatives offer a large portion of their payment for block generation. Every block produced by an SR they are rewarded 32 TRX. This figure adds up to a large amount daily as they are producing in round-robin fashion and so an efficient way to obtain votes from the network is to promise rewards. • I want to Develop on the Tron network! Where do I get started?

Everything necessary to begin developing on the Tron network can be found on the Developer's Hub at: https://developers.tron.network/ . Additionally, The Tron developer's Discord channel is active daily with a community over 1000 strong and growing every day. Check it out here: https://discordapp.com/invite/GsRgsTD
