KiwiSaver Capital Monthly Update

The Momentum Fund

It is months like these which show how valuable a momentum-based investment strategy can be. While Bitcoin has been in a fairly steady downtrend we have been sitting on the sidelines in TrueUSD preserving our capital. It is pleasing to see the fund's performance is aligning with the potential returns we calculated in backtesting (+50-80% profit vs holding Bitcoin alone). Since inception the fund has returned +68% in USD compared to holding BTC (98% vs 31%).

BTC has sat under both the 200 and 100 DMA this month. At present BTC's price is $7124, the 100 DMA is $8344 and 200 DMA is $9322. Therefore we will continue to play defensively until BTC begins to rise again and we cross back into the mid $8000's.

You can see the full Momentum Fund strategy here.

The Community Fund

This fund pools the community's views on which two coins will perform the best over the subsequent thirty days. This month DGD and DASH have been chosen to make up the fund, and like most funds we are currently sitting in the red, -14%. Please be sure to vote for which coin you believe will perform the best in the month of January at the link below.

Voting for the January allocation is now open and can be found here.

Growth, Intrepid, Balanced & Defensive Funds

Our risk-staggered funds continue to perform strongly overall. Unsurprisingly our Defensive and Balanced Funds have performed the strongest this month due to their stable coin exposure. Reallocation of all funds has now occurred. Due to Bitcoin's falling momentum we have reduced the funds exposure to this, while still holding onto the higher market cap alts and some smaller altcoins who have important upcoming events this month.

Thanks to everyone who continues to trust their capital with us. We're excited to continue offering you our popular investment funds, particularly with GV2.0 on the horizon. Have a merry Christmas!
