[4:02 PM] brianmct: meeting channel should be open
[4:02 PM] Jeroz: Thanks
[4:03 PM] bless yer heart: Good day everyone and welcome.
[4:03 PM] HyperPeek: Hi!
[4:03 PM] ANCIENTSEVVY: Oi
[4:03 PM] CDTrader: Hello everyone.
[4:04 PM] Tron: I have 3 things to add to the agenda. 1) Need for a Ravencoin Campus Manager (non-technical), quick discussion of a stablecoin on Ravencoin, and adding trusted users to GitHub for approvals and merges.
[4:05 PM] Hans_Schmidt: Hello everyone!
[4:06 PM] bless yer heart: Adding now, Thank you Tron
[4:06 PM] Tron: Hi Hans_Schmidt. What's your GitHub user?
[4:07 PM] Jeroz: Tron continuing on our email convo:
[4:07 PM] Jeroz: I had individual discussions with Tron, HansSchmidt, and Hyperpeek about git control this week.
Initially, I contacted all to see if we could add an electrum repo at the ravenproject GitHub moderated by the new electrum SIG. My reasoning was that it would be most convenient for users offering them a known source and not having electrum repos in multiple locations. Tron was fine with the idea but indicated that there’s also a fork on the foundation GitHub with trezor fixes and wanted to make sure that these do not get lost. Hyperpeek went over these changes and indicated that these are covered in https://github.com/Electrum-RVN-SIG.
After followup talks, Hans indicated that he preferred to have electrum at a different source than at the Ravencoin git. Electrum has always been at a different source (for bitcoin) and he doesn’t support needless centralization. Furthermore, access to ravenproject is rather restricted (for good reasons) while Electrum development allows for far more flexibility (since its not touching consensus rules). I wasn’t aware of these points and understand these concerns.
A separate issue is that core development has stalled and we need additional developers with available time to manage the growing number of PRs and issues at core. To this end, https://github.com/HyperPeek and https://github.com/hans-schmidt offered to help out testing/validating PRs, and helping with moving new functionalities to testnet (and main net later). Hans also set up a raven-qt-sig for this purpose. Although Hans suggested to fork core (as did I during last dev meeting) to get a new/separate development team on testnet. I believe such a move would cause too much confusion amongst developers and users while I’m convinced that everyone has the same interests at heart.
In sum, I’d like to request merging rights for Hans and Hyperpeek for Ravencoin core so that we can move forward with development, and drop my request for having electrum at the same git repo.
[4:07 PM] Pappy: Present
[4:08 PM] fdov: Here.
[4:08 PM] Hans_Schmidt: It is hans-schmidt
[4:10 PM] Abdo: Hello developpers great to meet you
[4:10 PM] Tron: Not sure having a separate (forked) testnet makes sense. Once we get the build process merged, then building will run tests automatically.
[4:10 PM] Tron: I'll add Hans. Who is HyperPeek?
[4:11 PM] bless yer heart: HyperPeek
[4:11 PM] HyperPeek: Me -- working on the electrum
I volunteered to help with review on the QT wallet, as there seem to be many PR's stuck.
[4:12 PM] Jeroz: Indeed.
[4:12 PM] Hans_Schmidt: It's a bit confusing. Nobody is proposing creating testnet8. The P2SH code is itself the fork.
[4:13 PM] Jeroz: Well, we can just fork testnet7
[4:13 PM] Jeroz: But we are waiting on git merging
[4:14 PM] Tron: Please test the BIP9 activation to watch it fork based on mining hashpower. Testing the migration is as important as the P2SH code itself. We don't want mainnet stalling on migration.
[4:15 PM] Tron: I fully back the migration to a P2SH enabled testnet.
[4:15 PM] Hans_Schmidt: I fully agree. That was the plan all along.
[4:15 PM] Jeroz: Im sure we'd love to, but there are no core devs atm moving it forward. Hence the request for additional devs
[4:15 PM] HyperPeek: This will need different mining on testnet. currently its only one.
[4:16 PM] Jeroz: The date needs a bump, we would need the building pipeline from #904 to get the binaries (spread those around), announce on testnet channel. I can move it to my private stratum, and then we can target hash to it.
[4:16 PM] Tron: Why? Shouldn't the testnet become P2SH enabled at X% threshold of mining? We can set that to 60 or 65%, and ask the testnet miners to migrate.
[4:17 PM] Jeroz: Ah yeah, technically the date doesn't need a bump
[4:17 PM] Tron: My "Why?" goes with "This will need different mining on testnet."
[4:17 PM] HyperPeek: Not different, but more
[4:17 PM] HyperPeek: Its currently a single card
[4:18 PM] fdov: I guess if minermore gets the binary, it'l be OK.
[4:18 PM] Jeroz: Minermore gave me a stratum to also manage it.
[4:18 PM] Tron: Ah, ok. Tell me a pool. I can put 3 GPUs on it.
[4:18 PM] Jeroz: I can DM you the private address, once we have binaries.
[4:19 PM] HyperPeek: What I mean is that if we want to test activation percentage that can not be done with a single miner
[4:19 PM] Hans_Schmidt: I think we are all violently agreeing. Only verbage problems. We will introduce a new pool (Jeroz's stratum) and the P2SH code. The existing testnet will chain fork as per BIP9
[4:20 PM] Tron: Let's get it built, give it to the mining pool, and active testnet miners and get to 60-some percecnt.
[4:20 PM] Tron: There can't be too many testnet miners. We've had it completely stall at times.
[4:21 PM] fdov: It was joe, about a week ago.
[4:21 PM] fdov: And my laptop, when I needed some tRVN for assets.
[4:22 PM] bless yer heart: HyperPeek did we catch your name in GitHub to add?
[4:22 PM] Tron: Anyone mining testnet should have a faucet or give some to somone operating a faucet, like Mango.
[4:22 PM] HyperPeek: Its HyperPeek on github
[4:22 PM] Jeroz: Im confident that the mining for consensus shouldnt be too much of a problem. Joe has lik 99% of the hash rate with a single card. What we were waiting on was getting the p2sh code into develop tree and getting the associated binaries. The building pipeline from fdov would be neat to have in between that.
[4:23 PM] bless yer heart: that is referring to #904 correct?
[4:24 PM] fdov: yes.
[4:25 PM] Tron: First thing is to merge fdov pipeline. I've approved it, but last I looked couldn't merge it without violating the rules.
[4:25 PM] bless yer heart: Merely awaiting 1 more approval it looks like.
[4:26 PM] fdov: I think you'll have to approve again, I updated some depend, renamed to package_VULNERABLE. upstream, kind of thought it would be nice not to use that version anymore.
[4:26 PM] Tron: Rules are 2 approvals and a clean build. PR submitter can't approve their own.
[4:26 PM] Jeroz: Hence my request for additional active core devs who volunteered
[4:27 PM] Tron: Any volunteers?
[4:27 PM] Jeroz: hans and hyperpeek
[4:30 PM] fdov: It could use a squash, will you do it while merging?
[4:35 PM] Tron: We have to solve the Mac dependency. I think there's a way to download the zip, extract it, and build. We can't be the only one with this problem.
[4:35 PM] fdov: There is a way, but we can't do it on github, legaly.
[4:35 PM] fdov: Have to do it at home. After signing the Apple developer deal. And yes, you need Apple hardware.
[4:35 PM] boatsandhoes: :man_raising_hand:
[4:36 PM] Jeroz: Can we skip mac for testnet?
[4:36 PM] J.: Jeroz do you think the telegram crew could help with Ravencoin Campus managering?
[4:36 PM] Tron: I don't want to be a bottleneck. Jeroz, Hans_Schmidt Let me know who else is trusted and I'll get them added to GitHub.
[4:37 PM] boatsandhoes: ^+1 if possible
[4:38 PM] fdov: Are there more levels, like can you handle issues with some other access-level?
[4:38 PM] Tron: I can give admin to a trusted Ravencoin Campus Manager, and the login/rights to [events@ravencoincampus.org](mailto:events@ravencoincampus.org) e-mail for scheduling public events. They could give Team Suite rights, and Leader rights to be able to control the speaking environments.
[4:39 PM] Tron: They could assign kiosks in the Exhibit Hall, allow use of private office suites, etc.
[4:39 PM] Tron: Allow stage access, and green-room access in the Concert hall.
[4:40 PM] Tron: For anyone that hasn't heard, there's an auction going on tonight at 6pm PT (7pm MT) 9pm ET in the Ravencoin Campus.
[4:40 PM] Tron: https://download.ravencoincampus.org/
Install
[4:40 PM] bless yer heart: Interested
[4:41 PM] Tron: A licensed professional Auctioneer will be doing the auctioneering.
[4:41 PM] Tron: bless yer heart You're interested?
[4:41 PM] bless yer heart: yes sir!
[4:41 PM] Rikki RATTOE - RVNFT.art: A couple longtime RVN Discord users may or may not have some NFTs up for auction tonight
[4:41 PM] CDTrader: I wish there was a linux version so I could access the ravencoin campus.
[4:41 PM] Tron: bless yer heart DM me and I'll get you set up.
[4:42 PM] S1LVA: If possible, I'd like to throw my hat in the ring to speak
[4:42 PM] fdov: Are we good on github writers now?
[4:42 PM] Tron: S1LVA For the Ravencoin Campus Manager?
[4:43 PM] S1LVA: Stage access
[4:43 PM] Rikki RATTOE - RVNFT.art: I'll also throw my hat in the ring for Ravencoin Campus Manager as well if needed to help out
[4:43 PM] ravencoin maximalist 🧘🏻♂: I think I already have it and am happy to help coordinate
[4:43 PM] boatsandhoes: Is it possible to submit NFTs for the auction?
[4:43 PM] Rikki RATTOE - RVNFT.art: Keep me in mind
[4:43 PM] Rikki RATTOE - RVNFT.art: Not sure, shoot Khalid an email
[4:44 PM] Rikki RATTOE - RVNFT.art: Or a Twitter DM
[4:44 PM] boatsandhoes: Who?
Do you have contact info?
[4:44 PM] Rikki RATTOE - RVNFT.art: I DMd you
[4:45 PM] Tron: Email Khalid at Zaytech <[khalid@zaytech.com](mailto:khalid@zaytech.com)> if you want your art in the Auction. Make an NFT for it (Ravencoin Unique Asset).
[4:46 PM] Tron: I'll coordinate with Rikki, S1LVA, and bless yer.. for Ravencoin Campus Manager roles. It doesn't need to be singular as long as the calendar is coordinated.
[4:46 PM] Rikki RATTOE - RVNFT.art: You got my email Tron
[4:47 PM] Tron: Rikki, S1LVA, and bless yer.. -- DM me the e-mails you used to sign up for Ravencoin Campus (Braveland)
[4:48 PM] bless yer heart: Tron You also mentioned a stablecoin on Ravencoin.
[4:49 PM] CDTrader: What form of currency will be used to back the stablecoin?
[4:50 PM] Tron: Yes, we have the opportunity for a stablecoin on Ravencoin. Someone else (that does stablecoins) would manage it. Provide an on/off ramp, market making for 6 months (market for RVN/USDR), and handle KYC/AML/etc. Cost: One-time $125,000
[4:51 PM] Tron: The backing USD would be held by PrimeTrust, and there are periodic audits.
[4:51 PM] boatsandhoes: Wait, the RVN community would have to float the bill?
[4:51 PM] BruceFenton: What do you mean by cost?
[4:52 PM] boatsandhoes: +1
[4:52 PM] Tron: Meaning the technical work to make it all possible would cost $125,000.
[4:52 PM] Pappy: Stablecoin = Fascinawesome!
[4:53 PM] CDTrader: It is an intriguing idea that would definitely add value to RVN as a whole. Seems like a lot of projects are adding stablecoins to their network these days.
[4:53 PM] Tron: $75,000 for technical work (mint/burn/connect-to-their system). $25,000 Market making for 6 months
[4:53 PM] boatsandhoes: That kinda seems like a 3rd party trying to milk the ravencoin community. If its a coin that they can find beneficial why can't the 3rd party absorb the cost?
[4:54 PM] boatsandhoes: Im super against any money from ravencoin paying for marketing
[4:54 PM] ANCIENTSEVVY: Did we say it would come from the foundation?
[4:54 PM] pinkajou: what about the other $25000?
[4:54 PM] boatsandhoes: Where else would 125k come from? ANCIENTSEVVY
[4:55 PM] ANCIENTSEVVY: Community could fund it
[4:55 PM] ANCIENTSEVVY: Like we did the foundation
[4:55 PM] CDTrader: Giving people the option to fund that project seems like a good idea.
[4:56 PM] CDTrader: A good old fashioned fundraiser.
[4:56 PM] BruceFenton: People already have the option to give money to whoever they want
[4:56 PM] boatsandhoes: I guess... this may be the first one that doesn't get funded though. I can't see serious money donating to someone for ravencoin that will run on ethereum
[4:56 PM] CDTrader: That way it wouldn't take away from any existing funds.
[4:57 PM] S1LVA: boatsandhoes Agree'd. And thats coming from someone whos done it on his own dime for years now.
[4:57 PM] Tron: Other $25K is integration with an existing stablecoin Trust - provides more flexibility. I can share more later. Just got the proposal hours ago.
[4:57 PM] Jeroz: I mean, if people like the idea and are willing to donate for that cause, sure.
[4:57 PM] ANCIENTSEVVY: Yeah I don't want to see the foundation fund it
[4:58 PM] CDTrader: Is the proposal time sensitive with a deadline?
[4:58 PM] BruceFenton: Shouldn’t these commercial things be kept separate from this dev discussion?
[4:58 PM] Deadheded: There should be projects that the foundation is not funding but still make avaliable
[4:58 PM] dopeMedic: Not to throw a wrench in the current discussion, but is the development part wrapped up?
[4:58 PM] boatsandhoes: It should not be, if it is time sensitive, that's a red flag
[4:59 PM] Tron: It is not time sensitive - except perhaps getting a time slot into their development pipeline.
[4:59 PM] CDTrader: Depends on the nature of the proposal.
[4:59 PM] BruceFenton: I think the foundation should be separate from overall dev discussions — particularly if it’s discussing commercial stuff
[4:59 PM] LSJI07 - BWS: Status on P2SH audit? Is it in progress?
[4:59 PM] Hans_Schmidt: "$25,000 Market making for 6 months" - that implies another $25K every 6 months?
[5:00 PM] BruceFenton: This is just someone’s business idea — that’s wonderful & good luck to them — but it’s not development related
[5:00 PM] pinkajou: It is a commercial project but it's also a third-party presenting a dev proposal to our lead dev so it's nice that it was brought up imo so that the community is aware
[5:00 PM] bless yer heart: Standby everyone. Lets not get ahead here. This is a development meeting
[5:00 PM] Tron: No. Should be one-time 6-mo.
[5:00 PM] boatsandhoes: What's up with the P2SH audit?
[5:00 PM] BruceFenton: But not in a dev forum —
