The cryptoverse has a range of exciting applications and one of these is the potential offered by games within the cryptoverse. I felt it might be interesting to explore some of the games available or being developed in the cryptoverse and put together a list of reference for the subreddit. Please comment if I’ve missed any out you feel are important to have and I’ll add them to the list. Also, be warned, game quality may vary!
ETHEREUM:
Doctor Who: Worlds Apart (PC)
A turn- based trading card game based on the sci-fi show that is planned to release in 2021. You will be able to to buy and sell NFT cards to then use in PVP battles.
Polymarket (Browser)
A decentralised information markets platform where you can trade currency on the outcomes of current events.
Sorare (Browser)
Fantasy football (soccer) game with digital cards and weekly prizes. The aim is to put together a team of 5 players to compete and you are also able to buy and sell (some) of the trading cards.
ENJIN:
Age of Rust (Steam)
A single-player sci-fi action adventure game set within a wide range of destinations from caves to space stations that involves puzzle solving and combat with in-game treasure hunts that reward assets and currency on the blockchain. Currently in beta.
Lost Relics (PC)
A free-to-play action adventure RPG, this game has hack and slash dungeon-crawling gameplay with enemies to fight and artifacts to gain. There are also limited time quests that involve co-operation to complete.
9Lives Arena (PC)
Online RPG with focus on competitive 1 vs 1 PVP, it includes permadeath, resource gathering and item crafting. It also includes a companion app called OOOGY.
The Six Dragons (PC/Steam)
An open world single-player fantasy RPG with a large 256 sq. km map and a billion dungeons to explore. You can choose from 3 classes with crafting, enchantment and smithing opportunities using tokenised in-game currency. You can also vote on development with governance NFT tokens.
AlterVerse (Steam)
A multiplayer game that is a first-person action sci-fi with a large amount of worlds in space to explore and game modes to play such as deathmatch and PVP, capture the flag, spaceship raids and races.
Forest Knight (App)
Turn-based strategy game based in a fantasy RPG world which rewards strategic thinking and has numerous quests, missions and dungeons to play.
Bitcoin Hodler (App)
An assortment of games within the cryptocurrency world including side-scrollers and racing games which responds to real-world data from markets (i.e. easier on green days and harder on red days).
Zeal (Steam)
A PVP and PVE 3rd person action RPG that takes inspiration from World of Warcraft with fantasy elements.
Kingdom Karnage (App/Steam)
Digital card trading game where you can buy, sell or trade with other players. Includes gamemodes vs AI and other players.
The Galaxy of Lemuria (PC)
MMO survival RPG with trading card-based skill system and procedurally-generated galaxy to explore. Has solo and co-operative gameplay.
Ether Legends (App)
Trading card game with physical and digital elements which features PVP and solo gamemodes and opportunity to earn, buy and sell tokenised digital items.
War of Crypta (App)
Mobile multiplayer game with real-time PVP battles. Can create teams of 4 heroes to battle and gain resources which are used to level up or trade with other players.
DECENTRALAND:
Decentraland (Browser)
A decentralised virtual world which is controlled by the DAO (Decentralised Autonomous Organisation), made up of users. You can buy, sell and create your own assets with MANA and parcels of LAND (an NFT that maintains ownership of land on the server) while also being able to interact with other users.
WINK:
WINk (Browser)
Gaming platform based on the TRON blockchain that offers games ranging from ‘Dice’ to Poker to gamble on.
AUGUR:
Augur (Browser)
Betting exchange with no limits that is decentralised and global. You can bet on a wide range of topics from sports to economics to events and more. You can also create your own markets.
HIVE:
Splinterlands (App/Browser)
Collectible Trading Card Game similar to Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone, you can buy, sell and trade (as well as leasing them) digital assets to help in playing 1v1 games online.
ATARI TOKEN:
Atari Universe
Currently in development, Atari plans the usage of the Atari token as payment for the interactive entertainment industry with an Atari Casino, Atari Betting and will be able to be linked with the Atari VCS and partner with other game and entertainment developers.
LUDENA PROTOCOL:
GameTalkTalk (App)
Social community app (mostly popular in South Korea) that is based around gaming and rewards ‘LDN’ when challenges are completed which can be redeemed for NFTs and Giftcards.
ALIEN WORLDS:
Alien Worlds (Browser)
A decentralised universe which uses NFTs for collection and to be played with. You can earn NFTs through gameplay and participation while exploring the planets through mining, fighting and owning land.
