Scammed out of a product. Purchased one product and have been told I'm not eligible anymore.

2 weeks ago I purchased an anniversary NFT mystery box. from Crypto.com. They were advertising this box as offering 1/10,000 people the chance to win a whole BitCoin and other cash crypto-related prizes.

I purchased a single box valued at $10 and started the waiting process before I could open it.

Important note: With this anniversary event people need to wait 2 weeks before the prizes are allocated. This gives the drops time to accumulate value amongst the trading market. This also means that the staff behind this whole project had 2 weeks to inform people about the following.

So Today the prizes were supposed to be allocated. Apparently,e they have been and people will need to wait until the end of the month at the latest to receive their actual prize. Looking through their discord server I noticed people talking about how they linked their accounts at the last moment and how they were lucky they did.

After asking around I found out that Crypto.com had snuck in some extra "requirements" into a blog post under a "Notes" section. The important extra requirements are as follows:

  • Users must complete KYC verification for your Crypto.com App account.
  • Users who fail to connect their Crypto.com/NFT and Crypto.com App accounts before 15 July 2021, 21:00 PM HKT will not be eligible to receive the reward.

I've messaged some of the staff to ask about this and been told the same thing. Because I didn't link my account before the deadline I can't get my reward.

Nowhere in the product listing, order confirmation or the terms and conditions does it say that you need to meet these requirements.

My question is, are Crpyto.com allowed to just kick me out of the competition even though their "requirements" were only ever mentioned on their own blog and never actually attached to the T&C's or anything relating to the product?

How was I along with anyone else who didn't read their blog supposed to know? I cant use something I purchased now because of a social media post.

Tl;dr: Essentially purchased a competition entry and have now been told because I didn't follow the "requirements" on a blog post I cant receive my reward. The blog post was in no way mentioned anywhere on the product page/confirmation/email
