The International Contemporary Art Fair

Since 1974, the International Contemporary Art Fair has been a highly anticipated recurring event. For several days each year, Paris becomes the world capital of contemporary art.

With an audience of approximately 75,000 visitors, 1,500 artists show their work in the aisles of the Grand Palais Ephémère, the Tuileries Gardens, the Musée Eugène Delacroix and Place Vendôme. Amongst the artists are some of the most famous artists worldwide.

“The FIAC is also the occasion for an artist residing in France, or of French origin, to be awarded the prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize, which brings with it international recognition. Like all fairs, the FIAC is also a marketplace where the works of art change hands and professionals meet.
Each year, there is much speculation in the press about the price of various works of art, which contributes to establishing the legitimacy of the artists.”

NFTs on Tezos

For the 14th consecutive year, House Guerlain will take part in the International Contemporary Art Fair in Paris, France. The House will present its new exhibition ‘When matter becomes art’, from October 21 to November 14, 2021, at 68 Champs-Élysées

House Guerlain and MNSTR agency will present works of art from four renowned contemporary artists at the event as NFTs. The NFTs will be displayed in the multi-level House Guerlain exhibition at the International Contemporary Art Fair.

The NFTs will be minted on the Tezos blockchain, an energy-efficient Proof of Stake network. Tezos, one of the original pioneers of Proof of Stake, utilizes a significantly more energy-efficient approach to securing its network.

Unlike Proof of Work networks like Bitcoin or Ethereum, Tezos operates cleanly, with minimal energy consumption and a negligible carbon footprint.

This collaboration embraces clean NFTs and energy-efficient networks that ensure that the impact of this new era of creative expression prioritizes sustainability through innovation.

The NFTs will be sold for the benefit of the GoodPlanet Foundation, chaired by Yann Arthus-Bertran, a world-renowned photojournalist and environmentalist.

Since its creation, Guerlain has encouraged new forms of avant-garde and artistic innovation, this  exhibition delivers to the world an experience of imagination and spirit.

The exhibition brings together sculptural works, paintings, photographs, installations, as well as digital works, NFTs, specially produced for the occasion, which offer a look at the potential of these creative territories.

Visual artist Liu Bolin will question the essence of image, the essence of life, the essence of the world and our perception of reality in his piece titled, The Last Warrior. Australian artist Lauren Moffatt will explore the cycles of growth and decay in nature and how different ecosystems are linked through their piece titled, Compost VIII.
