TLDR: Owning a BTC is now a status symbol among the wealthy.
I was at an event last weekend, watching UFC at a local club in a tourist area.
The atmosphere was friendly, with lots of the standard 'where are you from', 'what do you do', 'what are your teams' chatter among a diverse crowd of strangers.
Eventually someone swung the conversation to the crypto recovery. A heated discussion began between two women, the typical 'it is imaginary money' vs 'fiat is garbage' positions.
At that point the crypto crowd discussion went into 'what do you have?' mode.
Throughout the evening it was very much a 'I own a vacation condo, flew here First Class, have a 4ct rock on my finger, just picked up a Mercedes convertible, and own at least a full Bitcoin' vibe across multiple couples.
Owning a full Bitcoin absolutely came across as a status symbol. It was being openly flaunted, and was the first time I experienced that in a public setting.
