White Swans vs Black Swans - Upcoming Positive and Negative Events in September/October could be both spectacular and catastrophic for Crypto

There is a culmination of positive and negative events happening in early to late September and October, which will affect the prices and even the future viability of some cryptocurrency projects entirely. (Defi is under scrutiny in particular).

Black Swan Events (September)

• The US Infrastructure bill - Brokers will need to collect KYC information on all ‘services effectuating transfers of digital assets on behalf of other persons’. Considering all exchanges have to do this already, it will likely affect all things Defi. (Uniswap, Aave, Compound) (The bill will be passed some time before Oct 1)
• SEC clamping down on all “unregistered security tokens” - classifying all the altcoins (and some stablecoins) meaning they will have to register with the SEC if they wish to operate in the US
• Federal Reserve to unveil bond-buying taper plan - even marginal increases in interest rates on personal and government debts will potentially cause hyper inflationary events.

White Swan Events (September - October)

• Acceptance of Crypto payments by largest companies in world - Amazon, Apple and Walmart have revealed they are developing some form of crypto payments integration. PayPal’s ‘super’ App will provide contactless payments with crypto.
• Coinbase buying $500 million into Cryptocurrencies with 10% into Altcoins
• Fidelity Investments (Global $10 trillion asset management fund) are rumored to be looking at investing into cryptocurrencies with 90% of investors ‘extremely keen to have exposure to cryptocurrencies’
• El Salvador approving Bitcoin as legal tender will occur September 7 2021
• Approval of ETFs (Exchange Traded Fund) a type of security that tracks a ‘coin’ or ‘token’, but which can be purchased or sold on a stock exchange the same way as a regular stock. Which will mean huge corporate investments legally entering the markets.

Which of these will come to pass, and when, and perhaps more importantly, which will have the most profound effect is still highly debatable, but be in no doubt things are definitely moving very quickly right now. So Hodl onto your hats folks, it’s gonna get crazy in the coming months.
